The many faces of Sam in one single movie // A totally mesmerizing and intense performance by Sam Rockwell as Chuck Barris, in the criminally underrated movie Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (Dir. George Clooney, 2002). Could not take my eyes off the screen for a second.
- Who is that, Carlyle?
* No, it's the Old Testament... It's god.
- It's amazing you should quote him. He's my hero. [Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, 2002]

Chuck Barris, who hosted such gleefully trashy TV hits as The Gong Show and The $1.98 Beauty Show back in the 1970s, was an interesting man, to say the least. He once worked on American Bandstand. He wrote a song that made the Top 5 during the peak of Beatlemania. He created The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game in the '60s. And the rumor, of course, was that Barris had been a CIA assassin at various times in different parts of the world. That claim was part of his autobiography, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, which George Clooney turned into a movie in 2002. Though Barris was still alive at the time (he died in 2017 at the age of 87), Clooney told us he never asked Barris whether the CIA claims were true.
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind is currently streaming on Pluto TV and available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and most digital platforms.
Seeing Chuck on Mystery Wrestling was worth staying up for.
Gave me mixed feelings though. A lot of the time he was having fun and laughing and that's heart warming. But sometimes he looked so sad. And hearing him say "I'm not a wrestler anymore" broke my heart. You're a wrestler always, whether you currently wrestle or not, babe.
I got a good laugh out of his horrified reaction to seeing a kid waving around one of his old HighSpots interview DVDs too! Who gave that to a kid, hah!
Pretty neat seeing Hallowicked as well. Also, seeing Dan Barry genuinely made my night. For some reason I thought he retired but he's still got the moves! Chuck cracked me up as well: "Dan Barry is the best high flyer to look like that"!
And Evil Uno is such a sweetheart, he really seemed to get Chuck and cheer him up. Hearing him say "budge up so we can get your beautiful face on camera" to Chuck, and Chuck's little grin, that warmed my heart.
Seeing Mrs Uno was a treat too, especially hearing her comments from just off camera!
Just all round a lot of fun. I came for Dustin but I'll be coming back for the funs.
