chiclet update under the cut
I debated not writing anything about this because who needs another person trauma dumping on the internet but also…I love being here and I love how much we can care about people who are relative strangers to us. I’m so grateful for this community and the friends it’s given me.
Close to two weeks ago at a regular appointment my obgyn suspected there was something not right with Baby A. Baby B was on track and had all the appropriate markers, but A did not. She suspected it was a fatal condition but we were immediately referred to a high risk obgyn the next day for confirmation with a warning to not get our hopes up.
He confirmed what we already knew, A would not survive. The condition she had was extremely rare, a 3 in 10,000 chance with no known cause.
Unfortunately, due to the laws my state, my only option here was to carry both to delivery knowing A would pass within hours, not to mention the emotional and physical trauma of carrying two babies to term knowing one wouldn’t survive.
We were referred to a second high risk obgyn in a state with laws that allowed them to help us. Yesterday we were able to meet with them and receive care that would allow me to continue carrying B as a single pregnancy.
There were no complications and B is still looking great and healthy. We were told she was being a “show off” for the ultrasound tech yesterday and they were able to get a very good look at her.
I am thankful we were in a position to be able to access care. I am furious at the reality this country has forced us into. I am so sad we lost A but so hopeful B will come to us safely.
I wanted to update her internet aunties (gn) and say thank you for the love and kindness you all have shown me the past couple of weeks. Sometimes, people are good. 💕
