This confuses me a little, because on subscene there is only one file and it's for the whole show. I had no problem downloading it this morning, and if you managed to download the first act from there you got the second act.

I'm guessing you have the a video where act 1 and 2 are split into two files? I'm aware that the video scansub used isn't up anymore, but my suggestion is to find a version that has the entire show in one file. The youtube video referred on subscene was a dvd rip, so I'm sure there are other out there.

If the actual sub file has been corrupt somehow and half of it is missing, you need to contact scansub so they can fix it. I have no access to their account. (They seem to still be active, having logged in 6 months ago!)

what context does it happen in? i dont speak norwegian so idk if the oslo script has the spy trade plot or anthem reprise (im assuming it doesnt since its swedish script derivative?)

yeah so i wish i could provide actually useful info but i dont actually speak norwegian. i showed up to see chess oslo bc i figured i knew every versionso i figured i'd catch on p quickly. well i figured out it was pa svenska repackaged as pa norsk and was following it along UNTIL THAT HAPPENED. so if i remember correctly (i might not i have a peanut brain) endgame DOES happen anatoly loses and will go back and then the you and i reprise happens yadayada. then ensemble sang story of chess reprise. but theeeeeen there was ANOTHER you and i reprise I DON'T KNOW WHEN IT'S SET and it's anatoly and florence but florence is pregnant???? so i guess several months after endgame but like i dont understand the time jump or whats going on. the v last shot is anatoly and florence parting ways for good and florence clutching her belly in tears. absolutely unhinged.

i will say that karoline (florence) is in her 50s which is uh... not impossible but very improbable especially if it was an accidental pregnancy which it def was. i had sanne (cover) whos in her 20s so that's a lot more plausible but i really dont know if i would have bought it if i'd had karoline for my performance. anyway so sorry this is completely useless and doesnt actually provide any info i promise u i was just as confused as u were.

i am really good at making connections but unfortunately the only connections i am making right now are to do with chess. swedish part of the presentation mentioned abba i felt like a dog who just heard the word treat. waterloo in swedish ooh i should listen to chess pa svenska actually ive been putting it off. tirol? like merano from chess the musical??? the next thing is about the theatre which is just like-

just finished watched Chess pa Svenska on my laptop while I had the translation PDF (thank you so much @solrosan for all of your hard work!!) on my phone.

This version may be my favorite, which is pretty huge.

I started listening to the original London recording around freshman / sophomore year of high school, from my parents’ vinyl collection. Then the Broadway version, and I found I liked Judy Kuhn as Florence better than Elaine Page (sorry Elaine). But then the 2008 Chess in Concert at RAH came out and I was already in love with Josh Groban by that point and I loved his Anatoly - but that Chess in Concert is fairly flawed, as much as I love it. Josh Groban, Kerry Ellis, and Mari Pellow are my favorites from that performance.

Watching Chess pa Svenska all the way through...it was so good. Even with the changes and cutting down the political aspects of it all, it’s just a really well done show. And Helen Sjöholm is just perfection. I don’t know how I went my life without knowing she existed, because she is just so.fucking.talented and it kinda makes me want to cry.

Anyway...just saying that I watched all of Chess pa Svenska and I adored it. I’m hoping I can find a way to download it off of YouTube so that I have it in case these videos get taken down. I’d still prefer a download of the concert, so that I can work some magic with the incredible translation and not have to alternate between the film and my phone. But that’s for a different day.

Up next: cleaning and listening to BAO / Chess pa Svenska / Helen Sjöholm. Cause, you know, reasons. Also - was playing Kisses of Fire on repeat earlier this morning because why the fuck not. The OGs of ABBA are great and all, love them to death, but I just want their entire library to be redone with Helen Sjöholm on lead vocals. Like - how wonderful would that be? Just saying.

This is a super random ask, but I saw a post you made back in 2013 when you were translating the Swedish Chess performance and I was wondering if you ever finished it? And if so if you would be up for sharing? I’ve recently discovered Helen Sjoholm and I’ve been a Chess fan for a while and found the performance on YouTube but I don’t know any Swedish and I’d love it if there were subtitles. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

And here are the subtitles made by scansub. (Subscene is a bit wonky and you might need a few tries before it works, but it does work, I tried it this morning)

If you’re interested, I also want to point you to this post about how to pronounce the Swedish actors names. That is, as far as I know, the only example of my voice online haha
