♫ Patches ♫ (Redux)
From out of nowhere, unbidden, this song came to my mind yesterday afternoon.  I was certain I had never played it here before … but wait … better check the archives just in case … OOPS!  Yep, I played it just over two years ago, in fact!  Whatever has happened to my memory?  Anyway, since it popped into my mind this afternoon, it has been looping through … the one line I can remember playing…

“Give Me Just a Little More Time” de Chairmen of the Board por unos The Jam finales, 1981, ya con un trío de metal añadido.

Lore Dump: The Chairmen
Note: The Chairmen is a concept that I've been playing around with in my head for some time now, and was made in order to expand on my own interpretation of the SR universe given that the original series has been done with for some time now. I would also like to clarify that while this is going to be a somewhat brief summary and work off of vague ideas, please expect this post to be expanded upon at some point in the future once I've fleshed out more ideas. Additionally, I would also like to encourage anyone reading this, who may be interested in having crossover threads with The Boss and my version of SR, to incorporate The Chairmen in one way or another if that's something that happens to interest you. All I ask is for you to talk to me about these ideas, and to just have fun with it.
Many decades ago, during what some may consider the golden age of organized crime, a handful of gang leader's—all fairly powerful in their own right—had come together inside of a bar in order to discuss growing concerns they had over the state of the criminal underworld. Not only had it become quite hard to maintain their respective businesses, what with the increased presence of law enforcement cracking down on seemingly anything they did. But the need to adapt to an ever-changing world had led to many of them questioning just how long they could keep their very young empires afloat.
So, after what seemed to be hours worth of discussions, and several rounds of drinks, these men had all come to the conclusion that if any of them were to pursue their lofty ambitions, it would be wise of them to set aside whatever differences they may have and work together. This would prove itself to be mutually beneficial not only in the sense of strength by numbers, but connections, profits, and most of all an increase in power would skyrocket as well.
The Chairmen is what they would name themselves later on in life as they began to amass more and more into their fold. To the point where, if you truly wanted to let the world know how big of a deal you were, then you'd do best to get yourself an invitation to their Board of Directors. Something which only the most noteworthy of gang leader's even have the slightest change of making it on to.
While The Chairmen aren't considered a group that oversees the entirety of the criminal underworld and all who operate within it. They are quite the dominant force, with connections deep within certain spaces such as politics, business, law enforcement, and so on. Most people on the board will do just about anything to expand the legacy they have built off of from decades prior. Others are simply happy to be in a comfortable position that allows them to play around with the power they wield. In any case, they are an extremely dangerous faction with the resources to back them up. And if you were to somehow interfere with their work, well, let's just say it wouldn't be the first time they've completely erased a person's existence in the world.
A Few Facts about The Chairmen:
They are structured similarly to the way a conglomerate is. At the very top are the Board of Directors, which consists of every major gang leader who has proven themselves and earned a seat on the board. Each member of the Board has their gang act as a parent company, which brings in revenue from whatever businesses are done under it. Below the parent companies are small gangs that are considered subsidiaries. They are heavily monitored and must pay a large tribute in order to remain within The Chairmen's proverbial safety net.
Subsidiaries have the potential to earn a seat on the Board in several different ways. The following are just some; impressing the Board of Directors, replacing a previous member of the Board either by their firing or total destruction, arguing for a position, and so on.
The Board of Directors are, more or less, in a neutral alliance with one another. No member will interfere with the work of another unless it is to provide assistance of some kind. However, provided assistance must be repaid at some point or another. Failure to do so will result in the member who had requested the help to be punished in some fashion.
Bi monthly "business retreats" are the main way in which The Chairmen gather together as a whole in order to discuss what may be going on in their respective ventures, and with the world at large. Outside of that, they are more than welcome to keep in contact with anyone they wish to.
The current iteration of the Board of Directors is more than 5 but less than 15.
Members of the Board reside from different parts of the world and are wildly different than what the group considers their "founding fathers".
Some have kept up with the antics of the 3rd Street Saints for far longer than The Boss currently realizes.

I'm in need of some Aurafangshipping headcanons. Got any at the moment?
I do, I do! mostly focusing on Raihan since I usually focus on Ash's perspective a lot in HC's. trying to shake that up a bit.
\ it takes a while for Raihan to actually meet Delia. not because Ash doesn't want him to meet his mom but because of Raihan's own fears. he doesn't have that good of a track with relationships and Ash is his healthiest by far so meeting with the parents of his significant other gets him really flighty and nervous.
\ it doesn't disappear when he meets Delia either for the first time. he basically hide behind Ash the entire visit and jumps whenever Delia appeared beside him. he had the same problem when Ash first started to stay the night early on in their relationship, that is until he was able to pick out the sound of his steps after a week and a half of having little heart attacks every time Ash was suddenly by his side.
\ Raihan also likes meeting Ash friends out in the open or in public spaces such as restaurants and such and not in places like homes and such. he's a big guy and everyone of Ash's friends are tiny compared to him so he feels really conscious. the restaurant and public places seem to bring the gym leader confidence out in him so Raihan uses it for a cheat code against his anxiety.
\ there are laminated papers plastered almost everywhere around their house. a giant white board is up in the living room filled with both his and Ash's schedules. since their main house is in Galar, Alolan league is more relaxed and tends to run through it's courses faster since it's just four islands and not one big land mass and the Kahuna's can still pick who can participate and who can't, Raihan updates the board when he call's Ash every day when he gets home.
\ doesn't matter the time difference between the two, both Ash and Raihan will call each other when they get up and when their about to head to bed. most of the time one of them is asleep and doesn't pick up, which then leads to an hour long voicemail thy listen to in bed before getting up, but during the moments they can speak together it's usually filled with low hums and soft words.
\ Raihan's gym trainers have witness a few of these calls when Raihan is in his office really early and their helping him with all the paperwork Rose and Oleana shove down his way. it's very soft and war, and they all naturally stop what their doing and listen, even though they pretend to do their work bc then that means Raihan would stop and take the call outside the office-leaving the three inside.
\ big parental energy towards those three gym trainers as well. doesn't matter if their older then Ash in someway-unlikely since I hc Raihan is around mid 24 and Ash is around early 22 after the events of Darkest Day-they'll refer to him as mom jokingly when he's at the gym and gently try's to corral them back to doing their work and not eavesdropping behind Raihans office doors like the little shit's they are.
\ those three have so many tiktok drafts with the "mamma e papa" soundtrack and it's usually just a short video of them trailing after the two at the market place by Kabu's gym or the fairs at Milo's. there's a few moments where their in a restaurant-think brunch and or just early lunch since Ash's flights usually come in the early hours of the day for some reason-and they all agreed to keep it a secret from the duo until they died.
\ brunches are the only way Raihan and Ash will eat any kind of breakfast on their days off. they take the time to be lazy around the house or clean it up-for Raihan's case who loves there the most out of the both of them-and usually Piers and Gordie will join if they can. though most of the time Raihan is usually called in back to work because somethings up with the vault or Leon needs him.
\ Raihans so good at paperwork and other duties of a chairmen and had offered to switch with Leon so the man could have a lot lighter schedule and still be in the league, though it hurt Raihan a bit to give up his dragon type gym, though Leon doesn't take the offer up. this does lead to Raihan exploding on him when it gets increasingly obvious that Leon doesn't know how properly manage all the Chairmen paperwork on top of the Champion paperwork he still has to finish ON TOP of checking all of the gym leader's paperwork. it was very obvious that Oleana ran the scene hard behind Rose's back.
\ it takes a while for Raihan to come to terms that he needs to be more sturdy on his boundaries. after a life time of being put off by his Rose, his fucking dad and only parent that was alive at the time-mom died of breast cancer before Raihan started his journey-in favor of Leon, and Ash's increasingly reserved responses when Riahan tells him he can't make it to their dates or if he's not going to be home until late in the night. Raihan's had enough. he takes one last night write an email to Leon that basically stated if he doesn't get his shit together and ask for help from other more qualified people then Riahan then he's going to quite on the spot.
\ Ash is just that important to Raihan and vise versa, though Ash can't really offer the same dedication since he's the Chosen One and he's most likely going to die permanently one day in combat. Ash makes it up for all the little things. like grocery shopping, doing chores-still band from the laundry room-and taking care of Riahan's pokemon's when his lover is so drained from the day.

AITA for wanting a new employee to adhere to company tradition?
I (50M) am a chairman for my organization, third only to the leader, and head of my own department. Admittedly we have somewhat of an aggressive acquisition campaign, but we have values, dammit. We have recently been having some internal struggles within our own organization, namely over office space and positions.
For example, I had this subordinate (40F but pretends she isn't, don't get me started on that piece of work) who wanted a new office, so she had one of her own subordinates kill the guy who used to work from that office. Really, I don't see what was wrong with her old one. Anyways, that crone's done some very underhanded things before and since this incident, and I am devastated to inform you that she has passed those values on to her protégé (unknown age, could be M or F i really dont care). This protégé has a woefully unqualified background to be part of our organization, and no respect for their superiors. Tradition and policy demand that subordinates respect their superiors, and this protégé has murdered not only the one, but multiple high-ranking members of our organization for personal gain, including their own mentor. But rather than receiving a reprimand, instead they have been promoted to the position their mentor once occupied!
Of course, I could not bear to sit by and let this happen. I called this protégé for a private meeting, hoping that I could explain to them that there were certain.... things that do and do not "fly" here. Afterwards, I attempted to have them reprimanded and executed for their unconscionable actions and their flippancy at our traditions. But they and the little Cadre of traitors and monsters they call a crew were able to escape justice. Now, they are threatening a conflict with me which seeks to upend our very way of life for all in our organization.
I have spoken with the board about this, but my fellow chairmen are not unanimous in agreeing with me. Some say I am correct, of course, but still others claim that I am old and out of touch with the times. Does no one understand our traditions anymore? Am I the asshole for caring so deeply about our code?

All’s well that ends well
 Day Five
As usual, Scott woke ten minutes before his 6am alarm. Sitting up and stretching, he winced at the pain in his shoulders. His arms ached and his knuckles were red raw from the hours of pounding the punching bag in the gym the previous day. Kayo had cleaned and treated them with witch hazel, carefully bandaging in silence, there were no words which could adequately express the deep, all encompassing sense of loss they both felt.
Dressing slowly, he ran a mental checklist of the day’s tasks. Discussions with lawyers and chairmen of the Tracy Industries board, talking through who needed to do what and what needed signing now that Jeff Tracy had perished aboard the Zero X.
At some point they would need to consider some kind of memorial service, but until John could convince Virgil to unlock his door and emerge from his room, plans would have to wait. By the sound of it, they would likely need to replace a few items of furniture in Virgil’s room and probably plaster a few holes in the walls and give them a coat of paint. At least there wasn’t broken glass or shattered mirrors and tiles in his bathroom to deal with.
Trudging heavy footed down the stairs, Scott paused at the entrance to the sunken lounge and looked across at his father’s desk, the chair unoccupied.
Continuing down to the kitchen, his heart sank. Only a week ago, had it been only a week? He would have found his father in the kitchen, busy brewing coffee, pouring not quite boiling water over Scott’s favourite Rooibos tea leaves, serving freshly baked danish pastries and squeezed fruit juice. Now the room was as unoccupied as the lounge above. A tiny part of his heart had been hoping that his father’s death was just a nightmare.
He sank onto a chair at the kitchen table, staring at Jeff’s empty seat, then flopped forward, burying his head in his arms and weeping silently, not wanting any of his brothers or his grandmother to hear his moment of weakness. Someone had to be the rock of strength holding everything together and, as the oldest son, that was his job. It always had been, ever since his mother had died in the avalanche.
 Day… 2953? 2954?
Rolling over, eyes still shut, Scott flapped a hand around on his bedside table, looking for his phone. Pressing the on button, he stared. Ten minutes past seven? Since when did he sleep through his alarm?
Stomach growling with hunger, he sat up and stretched, wincing at the pain in his right shoulder. It had almost been yanked from its socket a few days prior and the tendons were still complaining.
Pulling on an old USAF t-shirt and tracksuit trousers, he shuffled out onto the landing. Was he imagining the music playing in the distance? Yawning, and walking down the stairs as quietly as possible so as not to wake his brothers, he paused at the entrance to the sunken lounge and looked over at his father’s unoccupied desk chair.
From here, the music was a little louder and he could smell the faint aroma of coffee. Without hurrying, he continued down to the kitchen, blinking at the sight.
At the stove, wearing Virgil’s kitchen apron (a birthday present from the year before, with “Don’t mess with Mama Bear” printed on it), Jeff was waving a spatula, singing along to Neil Sedaka’s Calendar Girl, cooking bacon and eggs.
Pointing to the table, laden with fresh pastries and two jugs of fruit juice, he smiled.
“Your tea’s brewing, and I’ve added Rooibos to the supplies list, you’re running low.”
Scott lowered himself into a chair, nodding mutely and clenching his jaw in a desperate attempt to control his emotions. His father glanced over at him, frowned a moment, then removed the pan from the heat and turned the hob off. Limping slightly, he made his way across to the table and dragged a chair up close to his eldest son.
“I’ve got you, Scooter.” he murmured, reaching out and dragging Scott to sit on his lap, shifting his position to distribute Scott’s weight more evenly.
Without a pause, Scott flung his arms around his father, grabbing handfuls of Jeff’s pink flamingo shirt and began to sob into his shoulder. If his brothers heard him, so what? They had all burst into tears at least once since Jeff had arrived home from his short hospital stay, and none of them would think the less of Scott for those tears of relief.
