if you feel like laughing-crying at the absurdity of the point we've reached with celebrity culture i highly suggest checking out the CelebJets twitter account. They use airport information to track down celeb flights and calculate their CO2 emmissions and it's the most insane shit I've ever seen
My favorites include:
Floyd Mayweather taking a flight from Las Vegas to... Las Vegas. Not even the opposite side of Las Vegas. Literally just from the south to the upper south. 1 ton of CO2 emitted
Tumblr media
[ID: Three tweets by CelebJets describing the flight. First one says "Floyd Mayweather's Jet Landed in Las Vegas, Nevada, US. Apx. flt. time 15 mins". It has, attached, a map that shows that the flight went from southernmost Las Vegas to central-south Las Vegas. The flight didn't go in a straight line, but did a circle around the region that seems to be about 8 times the distance between the two points. The second says: "Floyd Mayweather's Jet: approximately 121 gallons (458 liters), approximately 811 lbs (368 kg) of jet fuel used, approximately $816 cost of fuel, approximately 1 ton of CO2 emissions". The third one says, "Floyd Mayweather's Jet Took off from Las Vegas, Nevada, US". End ID]
Floyd Mayweather taking a flight from Las Vegas to Van Nuys, then back to Las Vegas, then to Van Nuys again, then to Las Vegas again, all in the span of 24 hours, emitting 15 tons of CO2 in the process
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: Four threads, all dated from Jul 27th (except for the last one, which is dated Jul 28th) detailing his flights. All have maps showing the same itinerary, which seems to be done more or less in a straight line. The first one says: "Floyd Mayweather's Jet Landed in Van Nuys, California, US. Apx. flt. time 37 Mins. Floyd Mayweather's Jet 229 mile (199 NM) flight from LAS to VNY. Approximately 300 gallons (1,135 liters); approximately 2,009 lbs (911 kg) of jet fuel used; approximately $2,032 cost of fuel; approximately 3 tons of CO2 emissions." The second one says: "Floyd Mayweather's Jet Landed in Las Vegas, Nevada, US. Apx. flt. time 44 Mins. Floyd Mayweather's Jet 229 mile (199 NM) flight from VNY to LAS. Approximately 353 gallons (1,336 liters); approximately 2,365 lbs (1,073 kg) of jet fuel used; approximately $2,392 cost of fuel; approximately 4 tons of CO2 emissions." The third one says: "Floyd Mayweather's Jet Landed in Van Nuys, California, US. Apx. flt. time 43 Mins. Floyd Mayweather's Jet 229 mile (199 NM) flight from LAS to VNY. Approximately 346 gallons (1,309 liters); approximately 2,317 lbs (1,051 kg) of jet fuel used; approximately $2,330 cost of fuel; approximately 4 tons of CO2 emissions." The last one says: "Floyd Mayweather's Jet Landed in Las Vegas, Nevada, US. Apx. flt. time 41Mins. Floyd Mayweather's Jet 226 mile (196 NM) flight from VNY to HSH: approximately 333 gallons (1,262 liters); approximately 2,235 lbs (1,014 kg) of jet fuel used; approximately $2,247 cost of fuel; approximately 4 tons of CO2 emissions. End ID]
Tom Cruise taking a private jet to fly for 10 minutes
Tumblr media
[ID: "Tom Cruise's Challanger 300 Landed near Killarney, County Kerry, IE. Apx. flt. time 12 Mins. Tom Cruise's Challanger 300 44 mile (38 NM) flight from SNN to KIR. Approximately 64 gallons (241 liters); 428 lbs (194 kg) of jet fuel used; approximately $429 cost of fuel; approximately 0.6733 tons of CO2 emissions." End ID]
Kylie Jenner taking that personally and taking a 4 minutes long flight. That's right, not even 5 full minutes inside the jet
Tumblr media
[ID: Tweet describing the flight mentioned above. This time it doesn't have the stats, only the map, which shows a distance so small you can barely see its outline under the small airplane drawing that shows her current location. The flight was from Camarillo, California, to Van Nuys, California. It lasted 4 minutes. End ID]
Jay-Z taking a flight for a distance of 12 miles (19 kilometers). Gotta get that jet to go to the grocery store!
Tumblr media
[ID: "Puma/Jay-Z's Jet Landed in Teterboro, New Jersey, US. Apx. flt. time 18 Mins. Puma/Jay-Z's Jet 12 mile (11 NM) flight from EWR to TEB. Approximately 139 gallons (526 liters); approximately 932 lbs (423 kg) of jet fuel used; approximately $937 cost of fuel; approximately 1 tons of CO2 emissions." Again the line showing the distance in the map is so small the model airplane covers it entirely. End ID]
And last but not least, Kylie Jenner emitting 50 tons of CO2 in one single day
Tumblr media
[ID: "Kylie Jenner's Jet Landed in Milan, Lombardy, IT. Apx. flt. time 10 Hours 17 Mins. Kylie Jenner's Jet 6,053 mile (5,260 NM) flight from VNY to LIN. Approximately 4,737 gallons (17,933 liters); approximately 31,751 lbs (14,402 kg) of jet fuel used; approximately $31,978 cost of fuel; approximately 50 tons of CO2 emissions." End ID]
And these are just my personal faves from the last 10 days. There is so, so much more out there and it's just slightly less absurd than these

IceMav Landmarks
For the curious, here’s a few real-world points of interest with regards to the Shooting Star series:
Ice and Mav’s first little house that they buy in “The Night Road” is located just to the west of Oxnard College in Oxnard, CA.  There is no specific neighborhood to pinpoint.  It’s within a quarter-mile of the college, with a natural foods co-op market within a mile west or southwest of it.
Their second house is located in Simi Valley, in a relatively new and actually quite wealthy subdivision.  It’s within 2 miles of the Simi Dog Park, so that when Mav goes out for his daily run he runs to the dog park and back for the full 4 miles as he intends to do in “Hiding and Hunted”.  Ice and Mav mostly designed the new house (with the help of an architect) and had it built in 2018, so it’s still very new.
Sarah’s psychotherapy practice is in Pasadena, CA.  Look up the Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA and the picture that comes up on Google Maps is the model I had for her office as used in “The Devil You Know”.
NAS Point Mugu and Point Mugu State Park are as in the real world, though of course with my own inventions as to their layouts and contents.  They’re quite a ways west of the city, on the coast.  Oxnard is north and west of the base so it’s an easy drive in to work for Ice and Mav, and not too much longer later once they build the Simi Valley house.
Slider went home to New York after he left the Navy but once Avex Aeronautics became a real going concern they relocated their operations to Phoenix, AZ and he relocated there himself.  I don’t have a specific location for where he lives though, but I imagine it’s near Sky Ranch at Carefree in the northeast part of the city where he keeps the little red jet.  When he comes up to see Ice and Mav he flies out of there and lands at Camarillo Airport which is near their Simi Valley house.
Sayyad, Kholm, the AH-76 and FOB Robatak in "The Night Road” are real places, as is the narrow valley where Mav was shot down.  Look up Sayyad, Afghanistan and you’ll see the AH-76, then just west of that you’ll see the mountains that constitute the narrow valley.  The south end of those mountains are the narrow part where Mav flies sideways on one wingtip, and what told Ice he’d been bored with the patrol pattern and was playing when he was shot down.  The place where Mav was found by Bowcott and his squad is Saighanchi between Sayyad and Kholm.  I used the pictures on that entry quite a lot as to what the terrain was like in the area, the caves, etc.
Dryden Flight Research Center is a real place, though these days it’s been renamed to NASA Neil A. Armstrong Flight Research Center.  If you look it up on Google Maps and switch to the terrain view, look at the dry lake bed to the east of the center.  They’ve got a very convenient compass and several landing strips carved into the dry lake bed.  Almost directly east from the center, at the edge of the lake bed, you’ll see a small mountain with no name that looks like it’s been split down the middle from east to west.  This is Turnaround Hill, where Slider and Sarah went to watch Mav on his Mach 10 flight in “The Shooting Star” and where the disturbance and Alan appeared in “Windfall”.
Hope you enjoy!

𝑙𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑗𝑜𝑠𝑒𝑝ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑛𝑎𝑝𝑜𝑙𝑒𝑜𝑛
whenever someone mentioned the tale of two lovers, hailey swore she had felt the exact same way. the depths to which two people suddenly merged into one, the sensation of desire and the need to constantly be embraced by your significant other—she had felt it. or at least, that's what she thought she had. in high school, like everyone else, she had read hamlet and romeo and juliet. for an assignment, she had studied the letters from napoleon to josephine. she had felt it.
but the thing is, she hadn't. not until she found herself completely shattered by losing tom. for over a month, she questioned why she had married him so fast to begin with. it made no sense, especially when she knew firsthand that vows could easily be broken. it didn't matter that they had stood before god and vowed to love each other for as long as they both lived. all it took was a piece of paper, and those vows were nothing more than words spoken to entertain the illusion of love. but losing tom made her understand. she understood why some people struggled to breathe.
over the course of 43 days, hailey received flowers and letters from tom. she heard his plea for redemption, felt the weight of his apologies scar her heart, and the echoes of his voice cut deep. mostly because she wanted to give in, to cave, to let him know that she still believed his love could awaken her soul. but she was afraid. afraid that if she ever opened up to love once again, her heart wouldn't heal. no, she knew it wouldn't heal.
but then, last night, when tom told her to come home, his demeanor shifted from begging to downright commanding, hailey felt a rush course through her veins, as if she had been woken up from a long slumber. and even though she didn't give him an answer, unsure of what she truly wanted until his voice commanded her to wake up, she knew deep down what she should do.
so, after pleading with kim to let her use her private plane to fly to london, listing all the reasons why she needed it, kim finally caved. thankfully, kim was a believer in love, understanding the importance of fighting for the person you believe you're destined to be with. with determination in her heart, hailey hailed the first available cab and headed straight to camarillo airport.
throughout the plane ride from california to london, hailey found herself unable to sleep, her mind consumed by fear. she didn't have a plan—she didn't even know where to begin. all she knew was that she was tired of feeling numb, tired of the constant ache that had left her heart in complete darkness.
but in the middle of that fear, one thing remained clear: tom was the key to unlocking the emotions she had long buried. he was the beacon of light in her darkness, the promise of warmth. with each passing mile, she found herself drawn closer to the one person who held the power to heal her shattered heart.
after a 10-hour flight, kim's plane finally landed at heathrow airport. exhausted and disheveled from the plane ride, she wasted no time in securing a rental car to navigate the rain-soaked streets of london. with raindrops splattering against the windshield, she started driving through the city.
arriving at tom's apartment building, her mind nervous and fear evident on her features, she hurried inside. but her hopes were crushed when the doorman informed her that tom had left hours earlier. alone in the lobby, raindrops tracing paths down her cheeks, hailey tried to recall places that tom had mentioned whenever he spoke about london..
letting out a deep breath, hailey quickly grabbed her phone, her fingers trembling as she dialed paddy's number. as the call connected, relief flooded her when paddy quickly provided her with tom's whereabouts.
as soon as hailey pulled up to the theater where tom was supposed to be, she pounded on the main entrance door, rain drenching her clothes. but no one answered. she could have just waited at his apartment building, but deep down, she knew that epic love stories were born from grand gestures.
so, after thinking for a minute, she ventured behind the theater, down a shadowy alley. and there, like a stroke of luck, she found two stage workers on a break. nervously, she walked up to them and poured out her heart, explaining why she needed to get inside, and after what felt like an eternity of pleading, they finally relented. reluctantly, they allowed her entry. and with each step she took into the theater, she felt her heart racing, knowing that she was one step closer to finding him.
walking through the narrow corridors, passing numerous people dressed in medieval robes, she paused the moment she heard a familiar voice coming from the center stage. with her heart pounding, she edged closer until she finally spotted him, standing mid-stage, rehearsing lines with the director. she knew it wasn't the right time to approach him, nor was it appropriate to disrupt his work. but as she stood there at the edge of the stage, her fingers clutching the curtain for support, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. it was now or never.
with a sudden wave of courage, hailey stepped onto the stage, her heart racing with each stride until she reached him. "i'm home," she declared, her voice echoing in the now silent theater. / @cfhllnd

NBA history
The NBA is a 70-year-old organization born from innovation. It was June 1946 in New York City when Boston Garden owner Walter Brown realized that major ice hockey arenas, which were vacant most nights, could be used to host basketball games.
“Never say never, because limits, like fears, are often just an illusion”, “It’s not about any one person”, “You always have to be on edge”, these lines are some of the famous NBA Michael Jordan. In fact there is ongoing season in NBA the 2022  - 2023 is the 76th season of National Basketball Association, begaon on October 18, 2022 and is scheduled to end on April 9, 2023. The 2023 NBA All-Star Game was played on February 19, 2023 at the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City. Lists of   best NBA player of all season in NBA is Michael Jordan Team: Chicago Bulls (1984-1993, 1995-1998) and Washington Wizards (2001-2003).Michael Jordan is the man who led the Chicago Bulls to 6 series of NBA Finals. Michael Jordan was a 6-time NBA champion. He also “carried” 6-time Finals MVP awards. Michael Jordan also gained the Defensive Player of the Year in 1988. In addition, during the regular season, “Mr. Air” has five more MVP awards, and he deserves to be an icon both on and off the basketball court. Jordan averaged 20 points per game in 2-year Washington’s jersey. Besides impressive titles and achievements, the leader of best NBA players of all time is also a model of competitive spirit. He excelled in attack and was passionate in defense. Whether training or competing, Michael Jordan does his best to help himself and his teammates reach the top. Thanks to the above achievement, Michael Jordan has become a measure of success in NBA history. Every NBA player wants to become like Michael Jordan. But so far, no one has passed the level of MJ. Second on the line is LeBron James has won 2 NBA Championship rings and an NBA Finals MVP award. Both times played for the Miami Heat team in 2012 and 2013. LeBron is one of the most leading NBA players in basketball history, with his ability to score goals is undeniable. From the very beginning, Lebron James stunned fans and encouraged everyone to follow their dreams. Lebron James helped both the Heat and the Cavaliers to win several championships. LeBron James is often “compared” to Michael Jordan – the greatest basketball player ever.
In addition to his wealth and ability to play football, Lebron James is also active in charity activities. It has made James one of the legendary basketball players in NBA history, both on and off the court. Number 3 is areem Abdul-Jabbar, number 4 is Magic Johnson and number 5 Kobe Bryant.  https://www.scottfujita.com/best-nba-players-of-all-time/#:~:text=baseball%20team%20names-,1.,basketball%20players%20of%20all%20time
On January 26, 2020, a Sikorsky S-76B helicopter crashed in the city of Calabasas, California, around 30 mi (48 km) northwest of Downtown Los Angeles, while en route from John Wayne Airport to Camarillo Airport. All nine people on board were killed: retired professional basketball player Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna; baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife Keri and daughter Alyssa; Payton Chester and her mother Sara; basketball coach Christina Mauser; and the pilot, Ara Zobayan. The accident was investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) which concluded that it was caused by continued VFR into IMC: the helicopter entered low cloud cover, which caused the pilot to lose his sense of orientation, and thence lose control.[2] A number of video recordings of the crash area were available, and although none showed the crash itself, the sound of the helicopter and the crash was recorded. In particular, surveillance cameras installed at the Agoura Pony Baseball Fields provided overlapping coverage of the final parts of the flight path. The FAA conducted a visibility study which used frequency analysis to determine when the aircraft made the closest approach to each camera, ground-speed, engine RPM and determine likely inflight visibility by comparing video recorded during the accident period to clear-sky imageryThe report concluded that, at the moment of the accident, the estimated. The world has silenced because of the death of one of the legendary player of NBA. And If you are a fan of Simpson there’s a theory that simpson predict the death of Kobe Bryant and how he died. Here's a look at the offensive masterpieces that make up the NBA's top individual scoring games. 1. Wilt Chamberlain, 100 points - March 2, 1962. We've all seen the photo of Wilt Chamberlain holding up the piece of paper with a "100" written on it. That's about the only visual that exists from that triple-digit, record-setting performance. Chamberlain shot 36-for-63 from the field, setting the record for most shots made and attempted in a single game, and went 28-for-32 from the free throw line in the Philadelphia Warriors' 169-147 win over the New York Knicks. He scored 59 points in the second half, which remains a record for points in a half, en route to setting a record that is unlikely to be broken. 2. Kobe Bryant, 81 points - Jan. 22, 2006
Only one other NBA player has surpassed the 80-point milestone: Kobe Bryant. He scored 81 points in the Los Angeles Lakers' 122-104 win over the Toronto Raptors, at the time becoming just the fourth player not named Wilt Chamberlain, and the second guard, to score more than 70 in a game. Bryant shot 28-for-46 from the field, including 7 of 13 from three, and went 18-for-20 from the free throw line, knocking down his final two attempts with 43.4 seconds remaining. Bryant scored 27 points in the third quarter and 28 in the fourth, accounting for all but 18 of the Lakers' second-half points. 3. Wilt Chamberlain, 78 points - Dec. 8, 1961 - When Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in a game, he broke the previous scoring record held by...Wilt Chamberlain. He first set the record in 1961 by scoring 78 points in the Warriors' 151-147 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Chamberlain shot 31-for-62 and went 16 of 31 from the stripe to top the single-game scoring record of 71 points held by Elgin Baylor. Chamberlain also grabbed 43 rebounds in the loss.  4. David Thompson, 73 points - April 9, 1978 - Alongside Wilt Chamberlain and Kobe Bryant in the 73-point club is David Thompson of the Denver Nuggets. The Hall of Famer got the green light during a 139-137 loss to the Detroit Pistons in the final game of the regular season while in a scoring race with George Gervin of the San Antonio Spurs. Thompson, who averaged 22.7 points per game during his career, went 28 of 38 from the field and 17 of 20 from the line for what at the time was the NBA's second non-Chamberlain 70-plus point game. Thompson and Gervin both finished at 27.2 per game, with the scoring title tiebreaker of total points going to Gervin. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/bulls/looking-back-highest-scoring-games-nba-history#:~:text=Wilt%20Chamberlain%2C%20100%20points%20%2D%20March%202%2C%201962&text=Chamberlain%20shot%2036%2Dfor%2D63,over%20the%20New%20York%20Knicks
Those are the historical NBA information for now, and just to let you know here in the Philippines they organize a PBA which is Philippine Basketballl Association The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines composed of twelve company-branded franchised teams. Founded in 1975, it is the first professional basketball league in Asia and is the second oldest continuously professional basketball league existing in the world after the NBA,[1] established before the "open era" of basketball in 1990 where FIBA allowed longstanding domestic leagues, which mostly had predated the PBA, to become professional. The league's regulations are a hybrid of rules from the NBA and FIBA.The league played its first game at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on April 9, 1975. Its main office is located along Eulogio Rodriguez Jr. Avenue (C-5 road), Eastwood City, Bagumbayan, Quezon City. The San Miguel Beermen have the most PBA championships with 28 titles. After the 2022–23 Commissioner's Cup, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, who defeated guest team Bay Area Dragons 4–3 in the 2022–23 Commissioner's Cup Finals, are thedefending Commissioner's Cup champions.
