In Brandon, a man charged with shooting a 16-year-old boy has been charged with trying to hire an assassin to kill a key witness. In addition to murder charges, Jadon Christian Felix Saunders-Rigeur is now accused of trying to hire an assassin in prison. This inmate is a 19-year-old man charged with murdering a teenager in Brandon. Because of that, he faces additional charges. Detectives arrested Jadon Christian Felix Saunders-Rigeur and charged him with soliciting murder in addition to the first-degree murder charge he was already facing. The inmate has come forward with information that Sanders Rigur, awaiting trial at the prison, hired another inmate to try and kill the witness. I'm glad he was caught. Read more.

I want to start sharing my planner with everyone. I have used a planner forever. RAYLAND — Raising livestock as projects for 4-H has been part of what the organization has been about since the early 1900s.

Members in Jefferson County have been been working hard, getting up early to feed and train their furry or feathered animals in anticipation of the Junior Fair livestock auction, which will be held Aug. 22 as part of the coronavirus-reduced Jefferson County Fair.

There are 4-H families that can trace their involvement to their great-grandfathers, while some families are new to the organization.

A visit to the Best and Saiter family farms, for instance, offers a look at the results of the feeding and training work that has gone on in many 4-H project areas. There are the Best trio, Cameron, Lindsey and Connor, children of Erin and Brian Best, who live on adjoining land to Erin’s parents, Corky and Judy Saiter. Corky’s father and grandfather were farmers.

Then they are the Saiter brothers, Drew and Cole, who live on a farm in Bloomingdale, and Luka Petrick, a Cloverbud and up-and-coming 4-H farmer.

Cameron Best, 16, who was a Cloverbud at 7, raised layer chickens and pigs in his first 4-H years. He won many prizes and awards for his work. In 2015, he had a cow and a calf operation. In 2017-18, he started his own breeding stock and won grand champion in breeding and reserve heifer calf. He holds many jobs during the summer, working at Rayland Dairy Queen, farming for neighbors and working a cattle-breeding operation. He still has poultry. A junior at Buckeye Local High School, where he plays basketball, he is up quite early during school days to get his cattle fed.

Lindsey Best, 13, was a Cloverbud at age 4, and started with chickens when she went into 4-H. This is her second year for pigs, which she started raising when she saw the fun her older brother was having while training the animals. She is an eighth-grader at Martins Ferry Junior High School and plays basketball. She remembered when a fox got into the pen and ate all the show birds. It was devastating to see them gone. Her poultry is now the layer and fancy categories and she wins awards with them. Horseback riding is another of her hobbies and she competed in many shows, including some held by the Steubenville Saddle Club and in Belmont County.

Connor Best , 9, was in Cloverbuds at age 4 and this is his first year for taking a pig project. He is a fourth-grader at Martins Ferry Elementary School. It looks as if he will follow in the paths of his brother and sister.

Drew Saiter , 16, is a cousin to the Best children and raises Hampshire pigs, a dairy beef feeder calf and two Crossbred steers. He has been a 4-H member for eight years and is the son of Heather and Andrew Saiter of Bloomingdale. He was pleased to have his hard work bring him a grand and reserve beef breeder award in 2018. He has won a dog championship as well. His school days are spend at Harrison Central High School, where he is a sophomore. His hobbies are hunting and fishing.

Cole Saiter, 13, raises and shows lambs in his 4-H livestock projects. He said his sheep will be shorn and trimmed up one week before the Jefferson County Fair.

He has received a grand prize for lamb breeding, most outstanding beef exhibitor and grand alpaca. He has four dogs: A golden retriever, a blood hound, a German shepherd and a border collie.

Luka Petrick, is the son of Emilee Petrick and is in the Cloverbuds with Town and Country 4-H. He is not afraid of the animals and will be in the mix with the other cousins in several years.

Fort Wayne Community Schools welcomes its pre-kindergarten students Monday, August 30, 2021.

Dorothy C. Nelson, age 88, a resident of Bridgeway of Bensenville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 21, peacefully at RML Specialty Hospital in Hinsdale, IL. She was born June 7, 1930 in Chicago to Joseph and Rose Rabito. Dorothy was born and raised in Elmwood Park, Illinois. After attending elementary school, Dorothy had an interesting high school journey - a Freshman at Proviso in Maywood, a Sophomore at Steinmetz in Chicago, a Junior at Bob Jones Academy in Tennessee, and a Senior at Bob Jones Academy in South Carolina. After high school, she attended Bob Jones University in the 1947-48 school year where she enjoyed cheer-leading as an extracurricular activity. After returning from the University, she went to work at Chicagoland Youth for Christ as a bookkeeper. There she met Del Nelson and through that friendship met Del's brother, Jim. They were married in 1950 and had two children - Sheryl (Brent) Amato and Daniel (Dawn) Nelson. They lived in Itasca, IL for more than 60 years. For 30 years Dorothy taught special needs students in private schools in Wood Dale, Roselle and Naperville (grammar school age) and later in high schools - Lake Park (Medinah) and Wheaton Central (Wheaton). She also worked with Awana clubs and was a counselor at Camp Awana. Dorothy has been passionate about the Awana program because of its huge influence on her and her family. During the last seven years, she volunteered at Awana headquarters. While at Bridgeway, Dorothy was involved in a Reading Buddies program, various plays, their Olympic Games, active in Bible studies and a Christian book club and the Bridge Builders program - helping new residents get acclimated. Dorothy has had a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, from a very young age and has dedicated her life to Him. She was always investing herself into the lives of others. She was active in her church singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, directing VBS, a special speaker at Mother-Daughter banquets and other Ladies events and going on two Mission Trips to Mexico with her granddaughter and High School group from Medinah Baptist Church. She had two mottos in her life: 1) "Do your givin' while your livin', then you're knowin' where it's goin'"; and 2) "Only one life t'will soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last." She is survived by her two children, Sheryl "Sherrie" (Brent) Amato of Bloomingdale and Daniel (Dawn) Nelson of Kiel, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Jason (Kristy) Amato, Kristin (Adam) Asher, Courtney (Dylan) Villarreal, Brittany (Tyler) Ball, Hunter Nelson and Rachel Nelson; seven great-grandchildren, David, Blaze, Lincoln, Skylar, Maverick, Faith and Cohen; two more great-grandchildren are due in the coming months; and her sister, Clara Thompson; and her brother, Jack Rabito. She was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Nelson; and her parents. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 6, at 7:00 p.m. at Village Church of Bartlett, 601 W. Bartlett Road, Bartlett, IL 60103. Friends may visit with the family from 4:30 p.m. until the start of the service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. TAMPA, Fla. — A high school fashion teacher arrested last month on a single video voyeurism charge now faces 353 more charges after investigators said they found images of students in various stages of undress on his digital cameras, cellphones and thumb drives.

Investigators said the videos and images of students were taken secretly in a changing area of Mark Ackett’s classroom at Bloomingdale High School in Tampa.

Ackett, 50, was arrested on Sept. 11 after a 17-year-old student discovered two hidden cellphones. Investigators then found more devices, and so many more images that many young women he taught and coached are wondering if they were secretly recorded as well.

The Tampa Bay Times reported that Ackett told investigators he began recording students in January 2017, when he began teaching fashion design and family consumer sciences. He also coached girls’ volleyball. He resigned from his job after the cameras were discovered, and turned himself in on the new charges on Monday.

A forensic examination of Ackett’s cellphones, Google accounts and other digital devices turned up an additional 267 videos and images of girls ranging in age from 14 to 18, the Hillsborough County Sherriff’s Office announced on Monday. Investigators didn’t say how many additional victims were recorded.

Ackett has been charged with video voyeurism, production of material harmful to a minor, and possession of child pornography. Records don’t list a defence lawyer for the married father of two teenage boys.

Court records show the student who reported Ackett told school staff she was wearing only a bra and panties when she spotted two boxes in the changing room that had holes for camera lenses. A search warrant says at least one of the phones was actively recoding the students when it was discovered.

Later that day, officials found three digital cameras and two storage cards in Ackett’s desk, along with multiple thumb drives in the classroom.

The Times reports that it was not clear if any of the images predate Ackett’s return to Bloomingdale High in 2017. He had been hired there as an assistant principal in 2006 and left in 2009 when he was promoted to a job as the district’s supervisor of attendance. His career as an educator spanned 27 years, the paper said.

Some of Ackett’s former students expressed their shock to the newspaper last month.

“I wasn’t skeptical of him at all,” Emilee Runnels told the newspaper shortly after Ackett’s arrest. “I thought he was such a genuine guy and one of my favourite teachers.”
