my mother taught me how to knit.
she cast on for me and my brother, taught us the knit stitch and set us loose. his was too tight and mine hilariously wonky because somehow i added stitches rather than dropping them
the second thing i ever knit was for school. they leant me bright green needles for it and i never gave them back
after that, the internet taught me how to purl, to change colours, and gifted me with a variety of patterns. i moved somewhere cold, decided to pick knitting back up, and made myself a scarf. and then experimented with double pointed needle
as of now, im teaching myself how to crochet, and even if the only thing i can make so far is granny squares im already neck deep in cool patterns
my approach is pick a pattern that you like and figure the skills out as you go, to hell with the stuff you dont know.
and other reasons to have a blog, i guess.
at any rate, it looks like there’ll be a lot of blankets in my future. which is as it should be.
be gay, do crafts. lets get this show on the road yall
