A little gift for my friend @grayhello22
Consider this an ode to our mutual adoration of the magic of Rugby boys’ thighs
She probably shouldn’t have done that this morning. She knew that. She should have respected his No sex before matches rule. And yet. She hadn’t.
She’d seen him standing in the bathroom, lathering soap on his body and she hadn’t been able to control herself. He was singing a little tunelessly, what she wasn’t quite sure honestly, not one of her songs, and she’d been a little caught off guard by him. She’d been caught off guard by the way his body glistened in the light and the way the soap ran down his muscles, collecting in the dips and curves she was so familiar with. Curves that she’d traced with her tongue hundreds of times. Her stomach had dropped as her eyes trailed down his body, down his arms and back, to his legs.
She’d never thought she cared about athletes anymore than she cared about any other occupation but there was Anthony. The contradiction to so many things she’d thought about herself. He was so powerful. She loved how his muscles moved and twitched under her touch and his body shivered against her. She loved the security and comfort in his thighs straddling hers. Just thinking about it made her chest ache.
She stood from the bed and slipped into the steam from the shower, her arms reaching for him already. Anthony relaxed against her touch, his hands catching hers as they trailed down his arms, and tugged her round until her chest was flush against his, the warm water beating down on them.
“Hey you. Didn’t mean to wake you.”
She smiled at the sound of his voice, burying it in his neck, “I’m glad you did. Means I didn’t miss my little peep show.”
Anthony grinned, a huge, smug thing as he made his pecs bounce up and down. “Oh, do you like this?”
Kate stepped back, as though she were appraising him, humming thoughtfully. “It’s nice. It’s not my favourite part though.”
“I’m desperate to hear what your favourite part is, Babe.”
Kate leaned forward, humming in his ear just the way she knew would make him shiver against her. “I would have thought it was obvious, Anthony.”
He let out a tiny moan at the sound of his name and she reached out and slapped his arse lightly.
“Lovely.”
Anthony let out a breathy chuckle and tilted her chin up until their lips met, his tongue tangling filthily with hers. “I knew I’d have to find a way to get you to hang around long enough to marry me.”
she kissed him quickly again, running her hands down his chest. His muscles jumped under her hands and she dropped to her knees, heat burning in her stomach. “Be a good boy, Anthony.”
He moaned as her lips pressed against the skin of his thighs and his fingers wound their way into his hair. “Kate.”
She let her teeth sink into his thigh and he shuddered above her, “Surely you can break your rules just this once.”
Anthony let out a strangled curse, nodding his head desperately, “Yeah. Yeah, yeah yeah. Just once.”
And she was fairly sure, by the time she ducked her head, he would have agreed to anything.
It truly wasn’t that she regretted this. On the contrary, she loved watching Anthony fall apart for her, and the taste of him on her tongue, the feel of those thighs pressing closer and closer. She only regretted what became apparent the second Anthony ran out onto the pitch and the crowd roared as he waved, in life and on the screen. She could see them from here. The white of Anthony’s kit shorts had ridden up his thigh as he jogged, the firm muscle flexing powerfully, and his compression shorts weren’t long enough to hide it. The outline of her teeth marked on his thigh.
She bit off a curse, knowing people would be watching her, and praying that her future mother in law was too preoccupied talking with Mary to notice.
“Do I want to know if that’s what I think it is on Anthony’s thigh?”
Kate rolled her eyes at her sister’s question, clapping loudly, the weight of her engagement ring heavy on her hand. “How am I supposed to know what you’re thinking? It’s just a bruise. He probably ran into something.”
“He ran into your bloody teeth. You’re foul.”
“He’s my future husband,” Kate scoffed. “Our sex is basically a legal right.”
“Don’t want to hear it. I’m supporting Scotland now.”
“You’re literally probably the only person who noticed.”
She wasn’t. That became apparent as Kate’s security shouldered through the media storm and she made her way into the corridor to wait for Anthony outside the changing rooms just like she always did.
“Interesting bruise Kate?”
“Yeah, was it you or someone else?”
Kate rolled her eyes, tugging Anthony in for a kiss as he appeared, victory shining on his face, his cheeks still flushed despite his quick shower.
“Any comment Kate?”
She rolled her eyes and cleared her throat, “I don’t comment on my personal life. You guys know better than that.”
“Anthony, any comment?”
Anthony shrugged, “A gentleman never tells.”
“Well surely that’s telling.” A reporter called out and she’d never really know why she said it, but Kate leaned in to the closest microphone and said,
“ My fiancé’s a snack and A girl has to eat.” And with a wink she walked away.
“Kate Sharma I am mortified.” Anthony chortled as they walked down the tunnel and Kate groaned,
“Don’t Edwina’s pearls will be clutched.”
And that’s how Kate woke up to a 45 message stream that accompanied a link to an article Headlined
The mystery is solved! Kate Sharma’s favourite cut of meat is thighs, apparently

how do the others meme era of the bridgerton brothers au meet their love match?
Kate is a model/dancer who stars in one of the band's music videos. While on set she overhears Anthony asking his brothers which of the dancers they plan on getting with and she is mightily unimpressed as he objectifies them, pointing out to his brothers which girl had the most cleavage on show or which one had the best bum. When Kate is introduced to Anthony as his love interest for the video she offers him nothing more than a forced smile in greeting and keeps her composure to not roll her eyes as he blatantly roves his gaze up and down her body. Ever the professional she makes it through the shoot without giving in to the urge to smack him across the face and by the end of the day she's more than ready to leave - but then Anthony catches her on her way out and with an arrogant grin asks her if she wants to go for a drink with him. Now off the clock, Kate tells him she'd rather stick pins in her eyes than willingly spend any time with him and she storms off, leaving him dumbfounded. If that was the last she thought she'd ever see of him; she thought wrong as somehow he seems to keep materialising at every single event and party she attends, and he always makes a beeline for her, desperate to win her over. At one party Colin chats with her, sharing his amusement that his brother is unable to get over the fact that she's the one girl who has ever rejected him, a fact which makes Kate feel very smug knowing just how much she has left Anthony rattled. Soon enough she actually enjoys seeing Anthony, purely because she loves the power she holds over him. It definitely has nothing to do with the fact that she's gradually becoming very fond of him, acknowledging just how charming he can be, and respectfully she can admit that he is a very handsome man - but it doesn't mean she likes him. Absolutely not... except, the day after Anthony's birthday she wakes up in his bed and in the cold hard light of day she can't believe she's ended up becoming yet another woman in a long line of his many conquests. Just as she's scrambling up to dash out, Anthony returns with breakfast in bed, much to Kate's surprise. She asks if he's always so generous with his one night stands and she watches his face falter before he quietly says he doesn't want this to be a one time thing. Kate then hesitantly enquires if by that he means he wants to be fuck buddies and once again she's perplexed when his face falls in response. He then states he had hoped that this would be the start of something special, of being a couple, of having someone to come home to everyday. Kate truly hadn't expected such a declaration and initially tries to reason that they wouldn't work in the slightest before Anthony blurts out that he's in love with her and implores her to give him a chance. She had never been in such a position before, had never experienced anyone fixing her with the most adoring of heart-eyes and truly she had never felt so loved and desired - and so, despite the reservations that lingered in her head, she decided to follow her heart and embrace the chance of a fulfilling relationship with Anthony; and she never looked back.
Meanwhile Penelope has known the Bridgertons for years, being best friends with Eloise to start with but over time develops a close bond with Colin. From a young age Penelope possessed a creative soul and loved to write stories and poems, and then one day when she was at the Bridgertons Colin got his guitar out and asked her if she wanted to write a song with him. Together they wrote a silly little song that entertained his younger siblings and from then on they continued writing songs together, and as they got older their song-writing ability flourished to the point that the songs they wrote were actually good, so good in fact that when Colin and his older brothers got a record deal several of the songs he wrote with Penelope made it onto the album. From then on Colin and Penelope collaborated to write a good chunk of the Bridgerton Brothers songs, including some of their biggest hits, and from then Penelope even had her hand in co-writing songs for other artists. Closer than ever before (even closer than her friendship with Eloise), the feelings Penelope had possessed for him since she had first met him only deepened and it was getting to a point that she began to believe he might feel the same way for her. He was so affectionate with her, always confided with her, never going a day without speaking to her, and telling her just how much he cares about her; she truly felt as though her feelings might finally be reciprocated. However, all her hopes were dashed the day she heard him declaring to his brothers that he'd never date her. Heartbroken, Penelope ghosted Colin, refusing to answer his calls and messages, and stopped writing for the band and instead provided her writing expertise to other artists. Colin was upset and desperate for her forgiveness but she refused to talk to him and as a result he lost all confidence in his own song-writing ability, feeling lost without Penelope's partnership and faith in him. Then one night Colin's phone rings and he is shocked but relieved to see Penelope's name flashing up. When he answers the call Penelope curtly tells him to leave her alone, sick to death of the countless messages he's sent her everyday since she stopped talking to him. Before she can hang up he desperately begs for her to hear him out and profusely apologises for saying something so hurtful, that he hates himself for upsetting her, and tells her just how much he misses her. With a sigh Penelope says she forgives him, that she knows he's not a bad person; but that she needs space. When he asks why they can't go back to the way things were Penelope can't hold it in any longer and tearfully confesses that she's in love with him and always has been and that it hurts too much to see or even talk to him, not that she now knows that he could never see her in the way she sees him. She requests that he gives her time and space and hopefully one day they might be able to just be friends once she's had time to heal. Colin is left in shock by his best friend's admission and doesn't quite know how to feel knowing he's broken the heart of the person he cares the most about. He's distracted by Benedict's own heartbreak, focusing on consoling his brother as he tries to wrap his head around the heartbreak he's caused Penelope. Once his brother finally works things out with Sophie, as well as seeing how loved up Kate and Anthony are, Colin can't stop thinking about Penelope and starts to imagine scenes of kissing her before he goes onstage just like Anthony does with Kate, or cuddling Penelope in his lap just how Benedict does with Sophie. It then hits him all at once; he's in love with Penelope and he can't wait a minute longer to tell her. He bangs on her door and when she opens it she's shocked to see him, and even more shocked when he grabs a hold of her and kisses her. That first kiss is enough to confirm everything between them, and after telling her he's in love with her they stumble their way into the bedroom to make up for lost time.

Okay this has been on my brain since yesterday so I’m sharing it with you all!!
The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical soundtrack is out and the lyrics from ‘Tis The Season caught my eye (ear??? Y’all know what I’m saying 😂💀).
“Don’t trip, don’t falter, just make it to the altar.”
I was thinking immediately of Kate walking towards Anthony and freaking out (it’s been a bit since I read TVWLM so please bare with me 😂🙈). Just her repeating those words in her head with her bouquet and trying to breathe.
“Show… that you’re more than worthy, don’t you let it show that you’re more than nervous.”
Kate, reading Whistledown and knowing of the Ton’s gossiping understands the scrutiny the wife of a viscount will be under, and she even got a bit of it during their courting. However, due to absolutely adoring his family, she also wants to show them that she’s worthy of being in their family (particularly Violet considering how she found Kate and Anthony 💀).
“Don't trip, don't falter, just make it to the altar. Must be perfectly perfect.” + “It's a season, it's a season for all of the ladies…”
In the imaginary scene being concocted in my mind, Kate is in her own head again and continuing to walk down the aisle, repeating her little mantra and trying to keep it together. With the second half of the lyrics I imagine the camera panning out over everyone in attendance, the families with fond smiles/knowing grins (w/ a quick glimpse of a reminiscent/happy Daphne and Simon of course).
“Perfectly perfect, must be-”
The music swells and Abigail hits that gorgeous and clear ‘must be’ and I feel like this is the part where Kate finally stops and arrives and looks at Anthony. Like, looks at him. And while they’re both in full blown denial, it’s incredibly easy to see that, ‘Oh, it’s you. You’re it and you’re here and something is telling me this is exactly where I need to be’ expression on her face.
“Flawless, my dear.”
Anthony taking her hand and being one hundred percent whipped featuring a very smug Violet who already knows what’s about to go down with her son and her new daughter in law. Bonus points if he does something sweet like kiss her hand or another small but impactful gesture!! I just imagine his face as seeing her for the first time and being literally struck speechless and just staring (and Jonathan Bailey is SO good with expressions so that would be GIVING) like ‘You are everything. Everything’ and not even KNOWING THAT HE’S IN LOVE WITH HER FOR REAL LIKE THE CLOWN HE IS!!!
Nothing but excellence for these enemies to idiots to lovers! ANYWAYS I’m just saying it would be a cute callback/edit with the song 🥰 go stream The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical by Barlow & Bear!

chapter 2 of rules don’t apply!
-----------------------------------
Kate needed a drink.
Actually, she needed two drinks. A minimum of two. She had needed a drink earlier that day at one in the afternoon when Anthony Bridgerton’s email popped into her inbox and ruined her entire day, she had needed another drink when she had to sit opposite from his smug, smirking face for an entire hour during a staff meeting.
She needed a takeaway, lying in her favourite ratty t-shirt and sweatpants on her couch cuddling with her beloved corgi Newton.
Instead, she was with her sister, standing at the top of a marble staircase that led to the buzzing hall where the gala was being held. Kate stood beside Edwina, who was a vision in a blue lace gown with her dark hair in curls. Kate had gone for a violet satin dress, already prepared to be invisible tonight. She usually was when she was with her sister.
She was Edwina Sheffield, and Kate was just...Kate.
It was in an art gallery in the centre of London. As much as she despised these events, Kate couldn’t find a fault in the venue. It was quite beautiful, actually. Kate had always loved art, it was a hobby she had adored in school and she turned to when she was stressed or felt like doing something other than lay on her coach with Newton watching New Girl for the tenth time.
At least the art on the walls could distract Kate from where she actually was, which was her idea of pure and utter hell.
“Would it kill you to smile?”
“I am smiling,” Kate responded through gritted teeth, turning to look at her sister.
“You look constipated.”
Kate snorted. “Charming.”
“I love you for coming with me tonight. I know these events aren’t really your thing,” Edwina put lightly, but it was no use. They were both well aware this was Kate’s idea of purgatory. “A lot of people would die to be here! The tickets are really hard to get.”
“I wonder why,” Kate mused, knowing exactly why. “How much was a ticket tonight? Two hundred pounds? I’m sure most of that is going towards the charity and not the cost per plate of lobster covered in caviar and twelve pounds per salad leaf.”
“Kate,” Edwina said sternly, giving her a sister a hard look that quickly faded as she smiled and waved at someone in the distance. “Behave.”
“I always behave,” Kate tutted, smiling sweetly at her sister as they walked down the stairs towards the large room full of people and portraits hanging on the walls.
“Please try not to insult anyone tonight, I know people here. I work for people here,” Edwina nudged her slightly, giving her another look that reminded Kate so much of their mother Mary whenever she scolded Kate.
“I promise I’ll be on my best behavior,” Kate gave in, putting on a smile as she noticed a few heads turn to look at Edwina. This was Edwina’s job, she wasn’t her for the hell of it. She squeezed her sister’s hand. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to be mean. Today was just a bad day.”
“I don’t even have to ask about why you’ve had a bad day,” Edwina said, turning to give her sister a teasing smile. “It’s, as always, because of Anthony Bridgerton.”
Kate frowned, not liking being so predictable. It made her uneasy sometimes how quickly Edwina could read her, but that’s because she was her sister. Kate could do the same. Besides, surely she didn’t talk about him that much, did she? “Well, actually-yes, it was because of him. He pulled a stunt for this project he wants passed which I have opposed numerous times. He’s incredibly irritating. He would not stop smirking at me during the staff meeting earlier. He’s infuriating.”
Edwina didn’t say anything to her sister, she just smirked knowingly at her and wiggled her eyebrows.
“What?” Kate said, frowning further at her sister. “Stop looking at me like that.”
“Oh Kate,” Edwina sighed dramatically, shaking her head. “When are you going to admit that you like him?”
Kate gasped, earning a look or two from people they passed by. Everyone was so dressed up and eloquent and Kate felt like she stuck out like a sore thumb. It was why she always hated these events, she didn’t belong here. “Edwina! I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Kate said, quite flustered, tilting her chin up in the air as she avoided eye contact, glancing around the room.
A woman standing a few meters away from them called out Edwina’s name and it was Kate’s perfect opportunity to escape this uneasy conversation. “I’ll be at the bar. Enjoy!” Kate said swiftly, walking away from her sister before Edwina could open her mouth to reply. She leaned against the bar, smiling at the bar tender who was standing behind it. "Hi, how are you? Could I get a glass of white wine, please? Your largest.”
She heard a snort behind her.
“Well, well, well.”
Kate’s heart momentarily stopped in her chest. She didn’t have to turn around to recognize that voice.
It was his voice.
What was he doing here? She had never come across him at once of these events before. However, he was a Bridgerton. They worked with many charities and his mother, Violet Bridgerton, had ran the Bridgerton charitable foundation for many years which her and her late husband had set up.
The Bridgertons got invited everywhere. They were one of the most famous families in London.
Deep breath, Kate. She could do this. She could remain calm and unaffected.
“Don’t you have someone else to talk to?” She replied coolly, taking a long gulp of her wine before turning around to face him. She was determined to remain composed and unaffected.
Wow. Okay. Deep breath, Kate. She could admit to herself, and only herself, he looked good.
He had changed into an evening suit, which was completely black with a crisp white shirt and a baby blue tie. It probably cost more than her monthly rent.
Anthony smirked at her, shaking the red wine glass in his hand slightly. “Why would I do that when it’s so much more fun to annoy you?”
“Ah, and there it is,” Kate raised her glass in a cheers to no one, shaking her head as she brought the glass to her lips and took another long sip. “It’s officially the worst day of my life.”
“Ouch Sheffield,” replied Anthony, putting a hand over his heart in his expensive, pretentious suit that he definitely did not look great in. “You’re almost making me think you don’t like me.”
“Almost?” Kate raised an eyebrow, narrowing her eyes at his playful smirk. God, she despised him. “Oh, I’ll make sure to try harder so you know how much I don’t like you.”
“That’s no way to talk to your boss,” Anthony replied, a challenging look in his eye as he took a sip of his brandy. “Most employees would treat their employers with respect.”
He was right, it wasn’t any way to talk to your boss. Kate had crossed some lines with Anthony she had never crossed with anyone, particularly someone who was their boss. She could think of a few instances during one of their many screaming matches where she probably should have been fired. He had crossed those lines just as much-but he was a Bridgerton. The boss. The power was his. Yet, in the two years they had worked closely together, Kate had gotten promoted and wasn’t replaced or disposed of.
He was a very good employer, despite his reputation personality-the Bridgerton company had a reputation for treating their employees exceptionally well. Anthony was no exception.
He had always been in the papers, mainly gossip columns fawning over his good looks, his charming personality and what girl he had on his arm for the week.
“Well, when an employer has earned said respect,” The words were flying out of her mouth before she could stop them. “Then, naturally, they would be treated as such.”
“So you don’t respect me Kate?” He asked, biting his bottom lip for a few seconds that caused Kate’s breath to still. His suit was dark,
“What does it matter?” Kate responded, raising an eyebrow
Anthony stared at her and it made Kate uncomfortable. His gaze bore into her, but he remained expressionless. Something in their conversation had shifted and it no longer felt like their usual back and forth banter. “It matters.”
She opened her mouth to retort, but words failed her as she stared back at him. She had not expected him to say that. She had expected an insult or an annoying comeback, but not that. She sort of felt bad.
However, she would be damned if Anthony Bridgerton left her speechless.
“Anthony! There you are,” A woman of her mother’s age appeared at . Kate recognized Violet Bridgerton quickly, from the pictures around the office and on Bridgerton newsletters. She was dressed in a pale pink suit with a long blazer. “I want to introduce you to Cressida, her mother and I used to work together-Oh, hello!”
Kate gulped as Violet turned to her, smiling warmly as she extended her hand. “Anthony, aren’t you going to introduce us?”
“Mum, this is Kate Sheffield,” Anthony introduced her, and Kate shook his mother’s hand. “We work together. Kate, this is my mother, Violet Bridgerton.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Bridgerton.”
“Please call me Violet. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Kate,” Violet said warmly, looking her up and down. “You look absolutely gorgeous tonight. How long have you been involved with the charity?”
“I’m actually here with my sister, Edwina Sheffield. She’s been involved for about a year but it’s my first event,” She replied, nodding as she listened to Violet talk about her work with the charity over the years.
“Kate works in the finance department,” Anthony said to his mother a while later, “We work together quite a lot.”
Violet grinned. “Oh, I do hope you are giving my son some trouble Kate.”
“Someone has to,” Kate smirked at Anthony, who gave her a pointed glare.
“Well then, in that area, you certainly have exceeded everyone’s expectations,” Anthony muttered, looking sort of put out as he
“I do try. If you’ll excuse me, I need to go find my sister. It was a pleasure meeting you Mrs. Bridgerton,” She smiled warmly at Violet before turning to nod at Anthony. “Anthony.”
“Kate,” He nodded back, taking a long sip of his wine as she walked away, and she swore she could feel his eyes on her as she walked away.
A while later, Kate gazed around the ballroom from her seat at her designated table. The food had been served and eaten, but Kate had barely touched hers. She had always been a picky eater and the most she ate was the vegetables. She spotted Anthon on the dance floor in the middle of the tables, dancing with his youngest sister, Hyacinth.
“He’s quite sweet.”
Kate’s head snapped back towards her sister, who was sitting beside her. “Who?”
Edwina smirked. “You know exactly who. The person who you have been staring at for the past ten minutes. Anthony Bridgerton.”
“Don’t be disgusting,” said Kate, shuddering as she shook her head. She had just been watching the dancefloor which he happened to be dancing on. “I was not staring.”
“I don’t blame you,” said Edwina, clearly enjoying torturing her sister. “He is quite good looking. Older. He’s quite charming.”
“How would you know he’s charming?” Kate asked, raising an eyebrow. She had kept her family and work life separate for a reason, and that reason mainly being any male within a radius of Edwina usually had fallen in love with her by the end of the day.
Anthony Bridgerton would not be one of those men.
“He introduced himself earlier, I was chatting to him and his brother, Benedict.”
“He introduced himself?” Kate gaped, turning to fully face her sister. “Why would he do that? Did he mention me?”
“He didn’t, actually,” Edwina replied, leaning back in her chair and fanning herself with the dinner menu. The gala room was quite stuffy and Edwina had only sat down five minutes ago after dancing with three different men. Kate had remained sitting and ate her dessert, the . “We just talked. He asked me about my job, I asked about his.”
“I’m sure he did,” Kate puffed, crossing her arms across her chest and leaning into her seat, looking slightly sulky. It's not as if she expected him to mention Kate. Why would he?
“So," Edwina began, pushing a dark curl behind her ear. "Do you plan on going there?”
“What?” Kate spluttered, nearly choking on air. “Of course not. He’s my boss! He’s-you know who he is. I would never-no. No. Not that he would ever want to-no. No! Why would you ask that?"
Edwina was grinning at her sister in a devious way for someone who was usually deemed so angelic and kind. “Okay. So you wouldn’t mind if I went there.”
“Of course I would mind! He’s incorrigible-“
“Putting your personal feelings aside,” Edwina interrupted, “It wouldn’t be because you wanted to go there, right?”
“Right,” Kate replied, her voice strained and high pitched. “Definitely right. You still shouldn't go there, he's far too old, he's far too him. ”
“I would never have any interest in someone you didn’t like Kate,” Edwina replied, reaching across the table to squeeze her sister’s hand, deciding she had teased her enough as she stood up. “I promised Nigel another dance. Are you okay here for a bit?"
Kate nodded, smiling at her sister as she walked over towards a tall, handsome man she presumed was Nigel.
“Kate, just the person I wanted to see,” Benedict Bridgerton grinned widely at her as he sat down in Edwina's seat.
“Hello, Benedict,” Kate said slowly, narrowing her eyes slightly at him. “Why would you want to see me?” They had only met today, and given her experience with Bridgertons so far, she remained cautious.
He continued to grin cheekily at her. She didn’t know him very well, but Benedict seemed a lot more laid back than his older brother. Anthony was so serious all the time. “There is no need to look so suspicious.”
Kate raised an eyebrow at him. “I’ll be the judge of that.”
“I can see why my brother likes you.”
“Your brother does not like me,” Kate grumbled, not wanting to speak about Anthony with anyone. “What can I do for you?”
“It’s about your assistant, Sophie.”
That was surprising. “Sophie?”
“Yes,” His face lit up, nodding eagerly. “What’s her situation?”
Kate stared cluelessly at him. “Her situation?”
Benedict sighed. “What’s she like? Is she seeing anybody?”
“Oh,” Kate drawled, the dots finally connecting in her head. She had never been quick when it came to romance. “Well, I am technically her boss so I’m not sure how appropriate it would be for me to comment.”
However, Sophie had asked about Anthony’s brothers earlier on after their meeting in his office. She had asked particularly if Kate knew the taller one, Benedict.
Sophie had never asked about any man before.
“I'm also her friend. Sophie is incredible,” Kate said, seeing his face light up. She didn’t understand what was going on, he had only met her briefly this morning but he was holding onto her every word. “She’s very smart, funny and extremely kind. She’s the best assistant I’ve ever had. She deserves everything.”
“So, if you ever need anything, you know where my office is. Sophie sits right outside of it,” Kate hinted, giving him a look. He didn’t seem like a bad guy and he had quite a good reputation around the office and in whatever she read about him. He was the charming Bridgerton.
Sophie deserved any possible happiness she could get, from what Kate knew, her life had been far from easy.
She didn’t know if she was crossing a line but what harm could it do?
“You, Kate Sheffield, are a vision,” Benedict took her hand and kissed it, which made Kate roll her eyes and blush simultaneously. “Do you want to dance?”
“I’m a terrible dancer,” Kate replied, shaking her head. “But thank you for asking.”
“I highly doubt that,” Benedict said but he didn’t push her to dance which Kate was grateful for. “Your sister is quite a good dancer, Anthony looks like he’s struggling to keep up.”
“Pardon?” Kate’s eyes followed Benedict’s nod towards the dance floor where Anthony and Edwina danced amongst the numerous couples, looking very chummy.
Kate clenched her jaw.
Kate couldn’t exactly break them up. It would be rude and she would never purposely embarrass Edwina.
“You don’t look happy,” Benedict said, smiling slightly as he followed Kate’s furious glare at the dancing couple.
“If you'll excuse me, I need to go to the bathroom. I'll see you sometime this week, Benedict,” Kate said, choosing not to tell him why she wasn’t happy that her angelic baby sister was dancing with his whore of a brother.
Kate had disappeared to the bathroom and then lingered until they finished dancing and parted ways and Kate clung onto Edwina for the rest of the evening. Edwina had brought Kate around to a few tables, introducing her to colleagues and the two sisters had even danced for a bit. It was a fun break from the repetitive small talk.
Kate eventually left Edwina to go home, as her sister was going clubbing with some friends at the gala which Kate had declined, she was dying to go home to see Newton.
Kate stood at the top of the large stone steps that led to the entrance of the museum. She really should have brought a coat, all she had with her was a wrap made of thin material.
She was alone until she noticed a man a few steps down from her, her stomach dropping and fury filled her body as she recognized him. Anthony noticed her before she did and opened his mouth to say something, but she beat him to it.
“No.”
He frowned. “Excuse me?”
“No!”
Anthony stared at her. “Are you broken?”
“Stay away from my sister,” She snapped, wagging her finger accusingly at him. “She has absolutely no interest in you.”
“I think Edwina is fully capable of making her own decisions, don’t you?” He replied smugly, somehow finding this conversation amusing. “She seemed more than happy to dance with me. Excited, even.”
Kate snorted. “I imagine it was out of pity. Edwina is a very nice, good person. Stay away.”
“You’re mental, you know that? You are the most infuriating person I have ever met,” Anthony replied, shaking his head as he glared at her.
“Right back at you,” Kate snapped, wrapping her shawl around her to try shield herself from the freezing cold breeze but it didn’t do much. She walked away from him, really just walking down a few of the museum's steps.
It would be a cold day in hell before Kate would ever allow Anthony Bridgerton to be her brother in law.
“You’re shaking,” Anthony appeared beside her, taking off his jacket and placing it around her shoulders.
She went to protest but she was freezing and her uber had said they’d be here five minutes ago. “Oh. Well, thank you.”
“No argument? Consider me shocked. You’re welcome,” He replied, glancing down at his phone before looking towards the road. “Do you have a lift?”
She chose to be the bigger person and not kick him in the shin. “Yes. My uber is just running late.”
He shook his head. “Come with me. My driver can drop you home.”
She opened her mouth to reply but he cut her off.
“For once in your life could you not argue and just get in the bloody car?” Anthony snapped, letting out a frustrated sigh simultaneously through his nostrils and mouth. He even pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Fine, no need to be so dramatic,” Kate shifted uncomfortably as she cancelled the uber on her phone, which had changed to fifteen minutes anyway, and followed him towards a black range rover that had pulled up on the road.
The car was fancy. Anthony opened the car door for her, closing it behind her as she got in and he walked to the other side. The interior was black leather and there was a little shelf full of snacks and drinks.
“Go ahead,” He nodded towards the snacks, smiling with that amused expression that infuriated her. He always seemed to be laughing at her. “You must be starving.”
Kate narrowed her eyes. “Why would I be starving?”
Anthony took a packet of crisps for himself and only then did Kate take a pack of m&ms, her favourite chocolate and quickly dive right into them. She opened up a bottle of water as well.
“Not everything I say is an accusation, Kate. I noticed that you barely ate all night,” He said, “Except for the dessert.”
“How do you know that?”
He looked flustered, breaking their eye contact and glancing out the tinted window. “Why didn’t you eat?”
She shrugged, “I don’t like fish.”
“Do you want to stop somewhere?”
“No, no. Thank you, but my feet are killing me. I just want to go home.”
He looked at her again, pushing a pack of crisps towards her as he took another for himself. “I would have thought you’d rather be dead than be somewhere like that.”
She took the crisps willingly, hoping her stomach didn’t start groaning for more food now that she was eating. “You’re not wrong, I would rather be dead.”
Anthony snorted. “That makes two of us.”
“But, Edwina needed me so I went. They’re not the worst. Do you have connections with the charity or?”
Anthony nodded. “My mother worked with them a long time ago and she wanted me there tonight, so I went.”
“The things we do for family,” Kate hummed, stretching her hands as she fiddled with them on her lap. Her palms were clammy and she was oddly nervous. She was in a car with Anthony Bridgerton, alone. It wasn’t the worst thing that had happened all evening.
“Your sister is quite successful, isn’t she?” He asked, and Kate was reminded of why he definitely was the worst.
“We’re not talking about my sister. As far as you’re concerned, she does not exist.”
He just smiled. “Whatever helps you sleep at night, Kate.”
“How I sleep is absolutely none of your concern,” She snapped, full on glaring at him now. “Edwina is far too young and far too-far too good for you!”
“Oh, really?” He drawled, shrugging indifferently as he took a sip of his water, looking completely unbothered.
“Your reputation precedes you and my sister will have absolutely nothing to do with that,” She countered, the endless pictures and articles of his latest conquests or girls of the week were hard to ignore when they were everywhere.
The smile on his face disappeared and he looked angry. He looked pissed and his flat tone reflected that. “You know absolutely nothing about me.”
“I know enough.”
They both hadn’t noticed the car had come to a stop right outside her flat and it couldn’t have been more perfect timing.
“Thank you for the lift,” Kate said, taking off his jacket and handing it to him, scrambling to escape him and this unpleasant conversation. “Let’s never do it again.”
“I couldn’t agree more,” His tone was colder than usual, and just as she shut the door, the car sped off.
“Asshole,” Kate grumbled, reaching for her keys and letting herself into her flat. What a strange night.
The following morning, Kate woke up to her phone buzzing on the pillow beside her. Newton was lightly snoring on top of the duvet, and Kate groaned as she blindly felt for her phone before she picked it up. It was a Saturday morning, she was meant to be sleeping in.
“Hello?” Kate whispered into her phone, trying to fight fully waking up.
“Kate?”
She sat up slightly. “Edwina? What time is it? Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. Everything is-you haven’t read the times, have you? The Whistledown gossip column specifically? Check your Whatsapp. I just sent it to you.”
Kate frowned, cursing as the brightness of her phone stung her eyes as she put her sister on speaker and opened her whatsapp messages. “Wha? Edwina, did you wake me up on a Saturday morning to read?”
“You’re going to want to read this.”
Kate clicked on the link to what appeared to be an article. It quickly opened to Lady Whistledown’s popular gossip column in the London Times. Edwina had been mentioned in it numerous times before and the Bridgertons were often featured. Especially Anthony.
Anthony Bridgerton, 34, has been spotted looking quite close with a mysterious brunette. Is the infamous bachelor now taken? He was seen multiple times throughout the night talking to this woman and leaving in the same car at the end of the night. We have confirmed the mysterious brunette is Kate Sheffield, business woman and sister of model Edwina Sheffield. Not his usual type at all. Has the heir to the Bridgerton empire finally been tamed?
Attached below the article was a series of slightly blurred pictures of Anthony and Kate from last night, talking outside the gala and getting into his car. Another was of Edwina and Kate at one of her shows during London fashion week last year.
Beside Edwina, who was wearing a long silk gown that she had walked in earlier that day, Kate looked bland and terrible. They had chosen to put that picture in the London Times.
In the London Times. In London's most popular gossip column.
Of her and Anthony Bridgerton.
Supposedly dating.
Which anyone could see.
“Am I drunk?” She muttered to herself, slightly dazed as she rubbed her eyes and refreshed the page but the same words and pictures remained on her screen, haunting her. Her heart was hammering inside her chest and she could feel herself starting to sweat profusely. Was she having a heart attack?
“Kate? Are you okay? I'm coming over, I'll be there in ten minutes," She half heard her sister’s concerned voice through her phone, but Kate wasn’t really paying attention. She felt like she was in a daze. Her eyes kept scanning over the article again and again.
Kate never replied to her sister.
She just screamed into her pillow.

I can imagine going to Kate being like babe I need ur help, and then they proceed to go through the motions of sex but fully clothed bc Anthony is trying to figure out if the positions/movements he’s describing are possible lol and Kate just lying there like you know we can actually try this? And he’s like in 15 mins I gotta write
Kate feels practically ambushed sometimes when she comes home and Anthony's waiting for her, sitting on the stairs,
"Thank god you're here!" Anthony sighed, kissing her quickly.
"Hi?"
"I need your help with something."
She knew the look in his eyes and sighed, dropping her satchel onto the side table and holding her arms up, "Where do you need me?"
Anthony grinned, kissing her quickly, "I love and adore you."
He knelt in front of her, tapping his shoulders, "Up here, please, ma'am."
She put her legs over his shoulders, steadying her hands on his head as he stood and already she could feel the heat trickling between them as she stared down at him, his nose pressed against her, a smug smile on his face.
"I could eat you out like this."
Kate felt her stomach drop, "You- You could."
"Is this comfortable for you?"
She nodded, "Would be more comfortable if my skirt wasn't as tight."
Anthony nodded, "Perfect."
He eased her down from his shoulders and encouraged her legs around his waist, grinding his hips against her, "Does that feel good?"
She felt her breath catch in her chest, "I um- Yes."
"Perfect." Anthony smiled "And if I were to say You're such a good girl baby. Would that be-?"
"Yep."
"Amazing!" He set her back down on the floor, kissing her quickly, "Love you!"
Kate blinked at him as he turned to go back into the office, "Are you just not going to do anything about this now?"
Anthony raised his eyebrows, "Um- I mean... I can if you...? I just really wanted to get this done and then we can... for sure I want to."
Kate rolled her eyes, gesturing him into the office, "No, go ahead, I'll wait on the sofa."
And truly, is there a better advertisement for Anthony's new book than Kate's Video of her face, sat in Anthony's office with him typing away over her shoulder, captioned
POV: Your fiancée bends you up like a pretzel the minute you get home and then tells you to wait while he writes it up
Even better publicity is the Stitch from Edwina that's just her computer, screen that says
Hi Jan,
Something for us to talk about in this week's session

As per usual Molly your work is amazing!! I loved thank you next!! Idk if it’s been requested but I’m missing jealous Anthony and would love to see him in this one!! You truly are the best!!
Ahhh in celebration of the peak of jealous Anthony I think I'll ever write (Offside horny clown Anthony) let's see a little bit of jealous Anthony here.
Dating Kate Sharma was truly the best thing Anthony had ever done in his entire life. She was smart and witty, and she smelled like flowers, and she kissed his forehead, and left him little caricatures that she's drawn in watercolour of the two of them sticky taped to the screen of his iPad, so that when he took it out at meetings he saw her handwriting
Have a great day! Love, Kate xx
A little cartoon of them, her on his shoulders, Newton twining between his legs bringing a smile to his face, tears pricking at his eyes.
"Everything alright?"
Anthony cleared his throat, still staring down at his screen, ignoring the man he was meeting with. "Yes, of course, I just- I've started seeing someone. And she- she's an illustrator and- she just keeps surprising me, is all."
He'd carefully tugged the drawing free, taping it to the inside of his case.
"Congratulations. Is it serious?" General curiosity, Anthony could tell.
"I think she's going to be my fucking wife one day."
It was truly, the best. Right down to the way her Mother had smiled at him, that very first morning when she'd happened upon them in her own kitchen, smiling a little bemusedly at her daughter rifling through the fridge in Anthony's shirt, Daphne's jeans, and her own stilettos, a clear sign she hadn;t been home in days.
"What's this, katie?"
"It's an Anthony. Say hello, Anthony."
Anthony had darted forward, his cheeks burning, Yes as you can see I've been debauching your daughter this weekend. "Mrs Sharma it's so lovely to meet you."
She'd looked curiously at him as she'd taken his hand, shaking it gently, "And an Anthony is what, darling?"
Kate had finally emerged, an apple in her teeth, and a bottle of chocolate milk in her hand, something so adorable in it, that her mother would keep chocolate milk here for her. "My boyfriend? You said you wanted him to come."
The word burned in his chest, as Mary Sharma let out a sharp gasp, tugging him against her chest in a warm motherly hug, whispering so low he didn't think Kate could hear, "I have lots of questions for you."
"I'd love to answer them."
It was amazing. Except sometimes it was fucking frustrating. And not just because they were both so stubborn they could argue until they were both bright red and screaming at one another. No, it was frustrating because Kate didn't see the effect she had on other people. Didn't see it at all.
Didn't see the way people gravitated towards her. She thought she was perfectly averagely pretty. Pretty in a benign way. As though men (and women) didn't turn their heads when she walked past, something smug and satisfied in Anthony's chest when he saw their faces fall, looking at the way she was touching him, always, her hand in his, her chin on his shoulder, lips on his cheek, her hand in his hair. And she never even noticed. Didn't see the way men moved close to her, brushed past her, how they smiled and flirted and made Anthony's blood fucking boil even in the stupidest of ways.
He was watching her right now, for example, as he stood outside the coffee shop with Newton, his little star wars harness on, nosing around at the tree while Kate was inside, her shorts and sneakers, and the crop of her shirt distracting him more than a little through the window, miles and miles of soft skin on display, her hair in beautiful, wild disarray, burning in his chest. His fingers twitching to sprint back home with her little dog slung over his shoulder to rifle through his sock drawer for the ring that had been in his sock drawer ever since she moved into the house he'd bought with the rest of their lives in mind, shove it on her finger and scream, Aha! She's mine! Mine forever!
And then he saw it. The man behind the counter's eyes lit up as Kate stepped forward, one of her earphone still in place, the other in his own ear because she said she liked when they listened to music together, he didn't even know what song was playing, something about Taylor Swift burying her friend's husband, he didn't care. He never did, always let her choose whatever she wanted to listen to as they strolled around London with her dog. While she complained that the vibe needed to be right. What he cared about was the way this arsehole was ogling the love of his life like she was a piece of meat.
Leaning over the counter as he took her order, his eyes raking over her as she gestured to something in the pastry cabinet. Something hot and angry welling in his chest as Kate smiled that beautiful smile, handing over his card, before she stepped away, still chatting idly with the man as he stepped back to make their order.
"Newton if I let you loose would you attack that barista for me?"
Newton's tongue lolled happily as a woman walking past cooed at him.
Anthony sighed, "I didn't think so. I'm getting your mother an Alsatian to fend off dicks, leering at her legs."
Not wanting to think about the fact that less than a year ago he'd been a dick leering at Kate's legs on his phone screen as he'd fucked into his hand.
He couldn't stand it, couldn't stand the way people stared at her, touched her, tried to worm their way close to her. He hated every second of it. Every- she was smiling at the man now, as he leered back at her, the lech. Ugh, they were absolutely never coming back here ever-
"There you go, honey." She was back, stepping in the circle of his arms her lips brushing his cheek just as the song changed in both their earbuds, a slow ballad, something from the 80's, Journey maybe. He couldn't breathe, didn't care, as he leaned down, his thumb brushing the spot on her hip where is fingerprint was on her forever, heart hammering in his chest as he brought their lips together a little indecently for a Sunday morning on a street corner in Notting Hill, her tongue slipping over his, tasting like the sip of... cranberry iced tea she must have taken as she walked out, mingled with his iced coffee, so she'd taken that too, and he really didn't care about anything but her, nothing but being Kate's forever.
"I love you."
"Love you too." She hummed as she kissed the tip of his nose, a slightly smug feeling in his chest as he saw the barista sigh through the window. "Cutie."
She was the only person in the entire world who thought of him that way. The only person who thought he was sweet and gentle and kind, and he loved it.
Loved looking at her crouch in front of Newton, placing the cup of water in front of him, chuckling as he put his paws on her knee to drink it.
And it was then that something caught his attention. black sharpie marked on the side of her cup, numbers, and a name.
"Dev is trying to get your attention." He hated that he sounded so petulant, so small, as Kate hummed absentmindedly, grinning up at him.
"Who's Dev?"
Anthony nodded at the cup she'd left in his hand, "The Barista I assume."
Kate peered up at it, her eyes widening in surprise before she slid her sunglasses (Probably so she could actually see. he knew she didn't have her contacts in today) on with a sigh, standing. "Well, I feel really bad now, he must have meant it for the girl behind me, and now I've got it."
Anthony let out a guffaw of disbelief, shaking his head as he took the cup, staring down at it mournfully, "Kate, babe, I think he-"
But then he looked at her, slowly nudging her arm around his waist, her hand darting up to straighten his sunglasses for him, hand neatening his hair. And he didn't care, he really didn't, just wanted to be loved by her forever.
"You're beautiful."
Her nose wrinkled up at him as she smiled, her lips brushing his, "Everyone thinks you're so grumpy but you're just a sweet little bean."
Anthony growled playfully in his ear, "I'm not that sweet."
"You're pretty sweet, I like that you don't think you are though." her fingers were twisting in his shirt, the final refrains of the song blasting in both their ears and it just came out.
"Marry me then."
Kate stumbled backwards in surprise, her mouth falling open, because they joked about it all the time, but never so bluntly.
"Anthony are you serious?"
His chest was burning, "I'm deadly serious, Kate. I don't have the ring on me, but it's at home, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you, just like this, just us, and whatever kind of dog you convince me to get next."
"It'll be a corgi. We're just corgi people."
Anthony rolled his eyes, tugging on her waist until they were chest to chest, their noses nearly brushing. "Is that a yes?"
Something was building slowly between them, her nose wrinkling up at him, "Of course it's a yes."
Anthony let out an excited roar, brushing her lips against his desperately before he stooped sweeping her up onto his shoulders her delighted laughter drowning out the new song, a stupid happy fucking Ariana grande song was starting the rest of his life for him.
A woman was standing a little way down the path, staring curiously at them, and Anthony couldn't help himself, as they walked past, Newton trotting along beside them, Kate holding his drink down so he could drink from it.
"She's my fiancée. We're getting married."
"Congratulations."
and when it settled in his chest Anthony was fairly certain being married to kate sharma was going to be just as great as dating her

Molly!
Attraction was amazing!!
What happened with the chin ups? Please tell me Kate spent the night laughing at him and text the entire who also took the piss out of him, bar of course Goosey who was being his adorable self?
I love that Edwina and Sophie are both throughly disgusted by Kate and her husband but amused at the same time. Whilst Lucy and Hyacinth just embrace it!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!!
Ahhh Anthony and the Chin Ups 😂😂😂
That’s a story
Kate had raised her eyebrow as her husband appeared in the door way while she was reading in bed, her glasses on.
“What are you doing?” She’d kept her voice dry as Anthony wedged the bar in the doorway, a smug smile on his face as he tossed his shirt at her, the scent of him engulfing her just a little as it covered her head.
“Oh, hello, Kate, Darling, I didn’t see you there.”
Kate rolled her eyes, turning back to her book. “You’re going to hurt yourself.”
Anthony scoffed, resting his hands on the bar. “Kate, the only thing I’ll be hurting is your pride, when you jump me in 3 minutes.”
And to his credit, for about 45 seconds, it was the hottest thing she’d ever seen. His eyes burning into hers while his muscles rippled as he pulled himself up, once… twice… and then the bar slipped, and Anthony crumpled on the floor with a yelp.
“Edwina!” Kate cackled through the phone, as Anthony hobbled around the bedroom, “Can you look after the boys? I need to take fucking Arnold Schwarzenegger to A&E”
“My pride’s feeling amazing. How’s yours sweetheart?” Kate said was they sat in A&E 30 minutes later, Anthony’s face thunderous as he clutched his bruised ribs.
“I hate you. Just admit that I’m hot! I’m way hotter than Michael Stirling!”
“One: You don’t hate me. 2: Don’t compare yourself to beautiful movie stars, it’s not fair. Three: Perish.” Kate said humming happily as she filled out Anthony’s paperwork.
What a truly wonderful evening this had turned out to be.

I adore all your fics but something about A Letter You Never Read is making me flail even more then usual, bravo! Amazing job and congrats on 6 months of Bridgerton and Sons :D How does the first family dinner that Anthony brings Kate to post-ALYNR go?
I am truly shocked at the response this fic has gotten tbh
This might sound ridiculous, but I genuinely didn't think anyone would care . It was, like everything I write, pure self indulgence.
Anon Also asked: I think it would be hilarious to see Kate meeting the bridgertons in a letter you never read - I can imagine violet being beside herself with joy and the boys wanting to tell her all about Anthony pining after her 😂
Okay! Let's see Kate at her first Bridgerton family event.
Anthony had tried to say it so casually, she knew he had, but Kate knew what this meant to him, knew how much he probably wanted her to say yes. "No pressure or anything, but my Mum's invited you for dinner this week." She'd stilled, Newton nipping at her fingers, sitting in her lap. She knew really, what he was asking her, three weeks into their relationship. He wanted her to meet his family, to start twining their lives more firmly together. And as much as she liked the idea, as much as she liked the idea that her boyfriend wanted to let her into his life even more than he already had, it made her nervous. Anthony ran his hand through his hair nervously. "Forget I said anything." "I would love to meet your family." She said quickly, her hand on his arm to calm him, even though her heart was pounding. "Fair warning though, next week my Dad wants to meet you." And his smile had been so beautiful it had stolen her heart from her chest.
SO here she was, standing outside certainly the biggest house she'd ever been invited into, a bouquet of flowers clenched tightly in her fist. She'd panicked on the phone to Mary last night, "Mary he wants me to meet his family. What if they absolutely can't stand me?! What if his mum thinks I'm stupid and his Dad thinks I'm trash?! He'll break up with me and this will all be a humiliating footnote on the rest of my life!" Mary had sighed, "Sweetheart, have you seen yourself? The Bridgertons are going to love you. Besides, I've met Edmund and Violet and they're lovely just be yourself." Privately Kate thought that nothing good could come from being herself. That was hw she was in this mess to begin with.
Anthony's hand was warm in hers, his smile bright when he said, "Relax, Kate, they're really excited to meet you, and they're going to love you. I think my Mum already does." and then, before she could respond, Anthony had swung open the door, and they'd nearly been swallowed whole by the chaos. A boy who would be barely older than ten was standing at the tope of the stairs screaming "Hyacinth stood on my AT-AT walker lego and wrecked it!" A girl who must be Hyacinth given the slightly smug expression was saying "It was bad anyway!" Eloise and Francesca, who Kate had already met were appearing to be placing bets on which of their siblings would prevail as the two on the stairs started wrestling.
"What the hell?!" Anthony said, a little alarmed and everyone stopped. He appeared to be shooting murderous glances at each of his siblings, before an apologetic one at Kate, who could barely hold in her laughter at the chaos unfolding before her. "Anthony?!" A woman's voice called out, "Are you here sweetheart?" Anthony barely had time to call out "Yes, Mum!" Before a woman appeared, much younger than Kate would have thought honestly, her dark hair swept back off her face, her eyes alight with excitement, followed by a man who looked so startlingly like Anthony Kate nearly dropped her flowers.
"Hyacinth, let go of your brother immediately!" Anthony's mother hissed, gesturing wildly to her husband to do something about the situation. Anthony's father's solution was to sweep towards his youngest child and lift her onto his shoulders, forcibly breaking the headlock she had her brother in. Anthony cleared his throat.
"Mum, Dad, this is Kate Sheffield." He said quietly, his hand squeezing hers tightly, a small smile on his face as he finished, "She's my girlfriend." his mother made a soft cooing noise as though the prospect delighted her "Katie, this is my Mum and Dad, Hyacinth and Gregory and Eloise and Francesca who you met the other week." Anthony finished, gesturing to everyone. "Yes, we did meet the other week, didn't we Frankie? Not that we really got a chance to speak, Anthony was rather-" Eloise had started, but Anthony's mother clearly sensing danger interrupted.
"Kate! It's so lovely to finally meet you." She said, a little too loudly, and before Kate could react she was swept into a very tight hug, the flowers she'd brought held limply behind her back. "It's lovely to meet you as well, Mrs. Bridgerton." Kate said still feeling a little awkward and she pulled back. "And you, Mr. Bridgerton." She turned to his father who was looking at her with a strange mix of curiosity and pride. "Oh please, Violet's fine." Violet said taking Kate's hand and breezing from the room. "My goodness you're even more beautiful than I remember, no wonder Anthony's in such a state." Kate felt her cheeks flush. "Now we are just so so glad that you and Anthony reconnected, oh he just liked you so much in school. We all knew it but the poor boy was far too nervous to do anything about it." Kate felt her eyebrows raise, surprised that his mother would know who she was by name alone. "Mum!" Anthony said, his cheeks burning as he scampered after them, "Well, it's true, son. Vi, do you remember that time Anthony got hit in the head with a football because Katie Sheffield" he said the name in a dreamy sigh, "Walked past?"
Kate felt laughter bubble in her chest, her nerves slipping away. "Edmund, you're embarrassing him." Violet said lightly, forcing Kate into a seat at the breakfast bar in the Kitchen, Anthony plopping into the seat beside her, looking adorably petulant, She took his hand squeezing tightly and a small smile came to his face. "You're both embarrassing me." he muttered, his ears burning red, worsening as Kate kissed his cheek. "Excuse me, Kate." Gregory said politely, looking quite nervous as she turned towards him. "Anthony said that you have a puppy." "Anthony said, you have a puppy together." Hyacinth corrected eyeing Anthony who quickly said. "I didn't, I said Kate had a puppy. Katie I didn't tell them we got a dog together." He said quickly, his eyes horrified. And honestly, he needn't be so embarrassed, everything about this evening was only making her feel even closer to Anthony than she already felt, even more in love with him than she was, not that she could tell him that.
Gregory sighed, nudging his sister, "Anyway, um, me and Hyacinth were wondering if maybe we could meet the puppy?" He looked so adorably nervous to have asked, so much like a younger version of Anthony that Kate felt her stomach clench. "Mate, you can't ask people if you can meet their-" Anthony started, but Kate cut across him. "Next time I come, I'll bring him for you to see, he loves meeting new people. Maybe we can take him to the park sometime." Anthony was looking at her with such an odd expression, almost as if he were in awe of the very simple thing she'd just done. Gregory and Hyacinth high fived, tearing from the room.
"Well as I live and breathe if it isn't Katie Sheffield!" Benedict Bridgerton's voice boomed through the Kitchen, clearly just arrived. Kate smiled. "It's been a long time, Ben." She said as Benedict nudged Anthony out of the way to talk to her. "Oh too long. I had to listen to this one cry on the phone for months after you blocked him on Instagram." "I didn't block him." Kate said quickly, anxiety swirling in her stomach. Anthony swatted at his brother's ear, and just when she thought it couldn't possibly be more manic, and voice boomed. "My Lord, Anthony! Katie Sheffield's in the kitchen! The very reason you spent so much time in the shower is right here in the-" Colin's voice was cut off by a groan as Anthony's elbow connected with his stomach.
When Kate returned to the room sometime later having had to take a call she heard her boyfriend hissing. "Why can you not just be as cool as I am about this?! Why do you have to embarrass me?!" "Anthony, you look like a horny beetroot." a voice said Dryly. "Colin!" Edmund Bridgerton admonished and then, "But he isn't wrong Anthony." Kate couldn't help but Kiss Anthony very soundly when she returned to her seat next to him, unable to stop herself, affection overflowing for him, the room filled with awkward silence as soon as she appeared.
"I'm really fucking sorry about my family." Anthony groaned as they slid into the car, his forehead slumping against hers. Kate chuckled, "They love you, and they're happy that you're happy. It's nice." Anthony groaned again. "And besides, when you meet my family, it'll be way worse for you than that."

Kate and Anthony at the beach? (Beach volleyball?swimming? tanning? thirsty Anthony?😂)
Ahhhh Sun-soaked Kate and Anthony, truly a gift to us all. I see your thirsty Anthony and I am going to raise you a very parched Kate ( Though Anthony remains fairly thirsty himself)
“Come away with me this weekend.” Anthony’s voice had rumbled in her ear as they lay intertwined together. Kate chuckled, a little surprised, tilting her chin up to meet his gaze.  “And where you are taking me Mr Bridgerton? You know I only travel in an excess of luxury.” She’d said and He’d laughed, looking down at her as though his heart was beating just behind his eyes and said, just before he sealed their lips together, “Well of course, only the best for my future wife.” And they didn’t have much time to talk for the next little while but the way his eyes had burned down at the ring he’d placed on her hand just a week ago had pretty much said everything.
Which is how Kate found herself on the private beach attached to a ridiculously expensive (she assumed) resort in Spain a week later. And truly, Spain was spectacular. Besides the obviously beautiful country and the rich history, she’d learned several things about her new fiancé that she very much enjoyed.
Firstly, Anthony Bridgerton could speak Spanish near fluently, which in and of itself had sent a little shiver down her spine. That accompanied with the fact he kept referring to her as his fiancée as though he couldn’t hear it often enough, couldn’t believe his luck, made her heart beat just a little faster. Secondly, holiday Anthony loved to do absolutely nothing. Anthony at home was always busy, always doing something, but this Anthony was content to lay on a beach towel, napping happily as the warm sun beat against him and he looked so young, and happy, and carefree with his sunglasses slightly askew that Kate couldn’t help herself dropping a light kiss on his forehead every 45 seconds, give or take.
Thirdly, was that Anthony was... unfairly attractive. And Yes, perhaps this was not new information, but that didn’t stop her from getting a little jolt every time she looked at him. She’d looked at him, a little in dismay, when he’d gotten dressed this morning, his polo shirt stretching tight against his chest, his shorts with adorable little flamingos on them shorter than she’d ever seen him wear before.  “My eyes are up here, Kate.” He’d said his voice practically giddy with joy as she had to drag her eyes up to his, and force them to roll at the irritating smirk on his face.  “I’m just worried about you getting arrested for indecent exposure.” She’d quipped and forced herself not to react as Anthony whispered in her ear  “Wait until I take the shirt off to swim.” Kate had scoffed as he’d sauntered away “I’ve seen it all before, Anthony!”
And she had, she’d seen Anthony without his shirt on hundreds of times since they’d been dating, and there was of course that one unfortunate time She’d arrived to work early to find him fresh from the gym, wiping sweat from his brow with the edge of his shirt: But this was truly, something else. Almost as soon as he’d taken his shirt off and left it lightly against the towel, stretching a little, her mouth had gone dry. His hair was a little tousled from the wind, and the sun was making his chest glow in a practically obscene way. But She’d forced herself to do nothing, say  “Have a nice swim, Honey.” And go back to reading her book. Even though she could practically feel him smirking at her.
Which is how she came to be in her current position: distressed. Anthony had dove into the water, paddling around contentedly with a serene smile on his face, the sun shining in his wet hair, his muscular arms moving determinedly through the water, and Kate couldn’t keep her eyes off him. Every time his eyes shot to wards her she would, of course flick her eyes to the page and turn it, making her slightly distressed that she’d have to flick back through the book and find her place eventually, and Anthony would smile happily and wave. And then he stood up, and she couldn’t take it anymore. He stood, water dripping from him, pushing his wet hair back from his forehead the sun glinting off his abdominal muscles and her stomach clenched, heat rising in her cheeks furiously as he walked towards her, grin on his stupidly handsome face.
“Anthony, we need to go back to the room.” Kate said, quickly gathering her things. Anthony stopped, towel still in his hair, eyebrow raised, the corner of his mouth twitching upwards “Is everything alright?”  “Yep.” Kate said quickly, taking his hand and tugging him back up the beach “I just need you to sort something out for me.” Anthony laughed brightly, “Well, I’d be more than happy to help you out of a difficult spot. I’m very glad you enjoyed the show, Kate. ” He said, smirk stretching across his face and Kate barely had it in her to feel embarrassed.  “Stop looking so smug Anthony.”  “Yes Ma’am.” He did not stop looking smug.

Our dearest angel Molly, I might be very deep into the rabbit hole of the BSU (clinically speaking). I was watching last night High School Musical (WHAT TEAM?! WILDCATS!!!!!) and every time Chad and Taylor were on screen, I couldn't help but picture Greg and Lucy, if they were using their awesomeness for evil (just the 1st one) instead of good (good = sailing the Kathony ship like two amazing capitans).
I mean, COULD YOU JUST LOOK AT THEM???!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I could totally see Greg and Lucy doing this in more than one situation. Specially the last one as they witness Kate and Anthony denying their feelings for each other or just being their adorable selves. Told you: way too into this rabbit hole. Send help
I'll let you be and call my therapist, brb!
Keeping brooing the southern hemisphere bro's wave 😎
Okay, Okay, OKAY!
Number 1, I love High School musical forever and always. But also, Camp Rock slaps too, my dude.
Lucy and Gregory are the chaos twins, imagine Lucy spinning in her chair one day and saying
"Gregory, do you want to do something a little bit mean, but also very very funny?" And Gregory just abandons whatever he's already doing, scooting his chair over to her desk like. "Whatever you're planning, let's do it."
In fact... shall we????
Lucy really couldn't say what had sparked the idea when she looked back on it. Only that when the notice for the conference Kate had been booked on past her desk, and she'd seen the hotel that was hosting it, something had nagged at the back of her mind. Thinking, thinking, thinking, about the connection. Had she stayed there? No, that wasn't right. She'd seen the name printed somewhere she was sure. Her fingers drummed across her desk as she wondered, looking at the hotel online, and then she remembered.
Because there, on the website posed for a picture at the reception desk, was Cynthia from Lucy's Lower sixth geography class. Satisfied that she'd solved the puzzle Lucy moved on with her day, planning to book Kate's accomodation when she'd finished her filing.
"Jesus Christ Bridgerton!" Kate's voice snapped, swaying away from Anthony, her eyes flickering embarrassedly as he pushed lightly against his chest. Lucy smirked, whatever had occurred this time didn't really matter. The result was the same, Kate and Anthony in denial, really someone just needed to lock those two in a room together and- an idea struck Lucy like a bolt of lightning. She smiled sympathetically as Kate passed, closing her office door with a sharp click. Waiting patiently until she was sure Kate couldn't hear her.
"Hey Gregory!" Lucy hissed at her counterpart. Gregory looked up from his CatWoman comic, his eyes curious. "Do you wanna do something that's a little mean but also could help two people fall madly in love?" A grin broke out on Gregory's face, dropping his comic, scooting his chair towards her his lollipop dangling from his mouth. "If this is about Anthony and Kate, whatever you're doing: I want in."
Lucy smirked happily. "So, this conference they're going to next month?" Gregory nodded looking startlingly like a golden retriever puppy. "I'm going to book them into the same hotel room." Gregory guffawed. "Excellent, only one problem: You really think Kate's just going to hear they have to share a room and go Oh no, there's nothing we can do! ?" Lucy tutted disapprovingly, "Ahh Gregory, my sweet summer child." She said, taking the lollipop he was offering her, tapping the photo of Cynthia on the screen with it. "It's all about who you know."
Gregory's brow furrowed again, as Lucy picked up the phone, dialling the number there. "What are you-?" He started, but Lucy waved him off. "Hi, may I please speak with Cynthia Jackson please?" She said politely when the phone was answered, waiting on hold. "Whose Cynthia? Also you watched Game of Thrones?" Gregory said his head tilted curiously. "We went to school together. And yes, I'm not a savage." "You think someone you went to school together is just going to help you with a random favour? She might not even remember you." Gregory said, scoffing lightly. Lucy sighed. "Gregory, you have no idea how well liked I am." Gregory opened his mouth to speak again but he was stopped by the buzz on the other end of the phone.
"Hello, this is Cynthia?" The voice on the other end said, Gregory leaning in close, tugging the receiver from Lucy's hand so it rested between them. "Cynthia! It's Lucy Abernathy from Talbot's!" "Oh my god. Lucy it's been ages. How's things?" Lucy shot Gregory a smug smile who looked astonished. "Are you still seeing Mitchell?" Lucy cleared her throat. "Thankfully no." She could feel Gregory looking at her a little intently, curiously. as Cynthia made a sympathetic noise. "I actually work for a law firm in London now. I'm a PA for one of the lawyers here, and she's coming to yours for the Family law conference next month." "Oh yeah?" Cynthia said a little confusedly. "I wondered, if you wanted to play a tiny little game, just like we did at school." Lucy said as lightly as she could manage. She had Cynthia's attention now, she could tell, even over the phone. She'd always been one to cause mischief.
"What kind of game?" Lucy hummed victoriously. "Well maybe not a game, but you see, My boss, Kate, is travelling with the other lawyer from the firm and well, I think they just need a little push." Gregory chuckled beside her. Cynthia cooed. "Oh my god, it's like a romantic comedy, what are we thinking?" Lucy laughed. "Now we are going to make a booking for one room. And under no circumstances can they be allowed to change that booking, or go to another hotel."
Cynthia laughed brightly. "I love this, but you're sure she wants this?" Lucy sighed, her eyes darting back to the door behind her Katharine Sheffield engraved on brass. "Yes, she's definitely in love with him. Now we're going to make this booking under Sheffield-Bridgerton. That's spelled..."
When she got off the phone Lucy couldn't help but feel a little smug as she high fived Gregory, popping her lollipop in her mouth with a satisfied sigh. "Easy, Bridgerton." The door to Kate's office swung open startling Lucy a little, Gregory toppling sideways off his seat, falling against her. "What are you two up to?" Kate said suspiciously, her eyes narrowing. Lucy fixed her face into a look of exasperation. "Gregory has lost Anthony's credit card again, and the bank was giving him a little trouble."
Kate hummed sympathetically, walking towards the kitchen seconds later. Gregory rolled his eyes. "Do I always have to be the incompetent one?"
Lucy tutted, turning back towards her desk. "Do you really think Ktae would believe I was?" Gregory fixed her with an odd look, pushing away from her desk so his chair spun back to his own. "You're right. You, Lucy Loo, are a terrifying genius, and I'm proud to call you my friend."
And for he life of her, Lucy couldn't figure out why his statement made her equal parts thrilled and devastated.

hot dad gregory? anything? please? i really cant with this headcanon, its so precious. (also abc being like wtf when their little bro is considered the hot one is *chefs kiss*)
Ohhh Hot Dad Gregory? Truly, a wonderful man so wonderful that I got two asks for this, and I’m keeping them separate because I love and adore the idea of him just being his wholesome self, loving his wife and kids and all these mums are just like 😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Just gonna tags @aspoonfuloffiction as I know this is a special interest to theirs
“Gods here he is. the Bridgerton Dad is so hot.” Anthony heard a woman whisper to her friend as he passed outside the school, herding his children towards the door, and he couldn’t help but feel a little smug, a small smirk coming to his face as he past them.
“You are certainly not wrong Jacqui, ugh look at the way he’s done her hair, bless him.” Anthony did feel a little ridiculous as he preened this time. Kate had been largely responsible for Charlotte’s hair this morning after all, though it felt rude to correct these nice women.
“God, his wife does not know how lucky she is. Can barely get Dan to look at Jess before she goes to school. His wife told me he makes her breakfast in bed every weekend.” Jacqui replied, so Kate had been bragging about him, that was nice to know. Nice to know his efforts were being appreciated at home and abroad.
“Charli, get down from there!” He hissed at his daughter, currently attempting to scale the small statue of a lion outside the school, turning his attention back to the women feeling rather proud of his efforts and then,
“I tell you what, I was that glad when Jess was in the same class as Katie this year, so many excuses just to stare at Gregory.” Jacqui sighed, and Anthony nearly fell over. Gregory? These women were standing around clucking over Gregory?? That didn’t sound right. Anthony scanned the crowd and saw his brother across the courtyard, Katie on his shoulders humming happily to her, his other children running around them happily in a little ring. He had to admit, it was rather cute, but he was Greg. These women obviously hadn’t seen him.
“Morning ladies!” He called out brightly, smiling as charmingly as he could manage in his slightly taken aback state. And then women barely even glanced at him as they muttered their responses, because Gregory had picked up Richard, thrown him in the air and caught him, grinning happily.
What on earth?!
“Hi ladies!” Gregory called out to the same group, noticing their stares, “Jacqui are we ready to kill it in reading groups today? Katie and I were practicing all night!” And Jacqui nearly expired.
“Kate, I’ve just dropped the kids off and you will never guess who everyone was staring at!” Anthony hissed to his wife on the phone the second he was in the car. Kate sighed,
“Was Gregory’s fan club out today?” Kate said, her voice full of amusement, and then “Hey, Lucy, Anthony’s just discovered Gregory’s fan club!” She called out, Lucy’s laughter echoing through the phone seconds later.
“Oh the poor man has no idea, he thinks they’re just being friendly.” Anthony was gobsmacked.
“I’m hot!” He couldn’t help himself from saying indignantly, feeling rather petulant as he did so, “Kate, objectively I’m a hot dad right?” His wife’s momentary silence was deafening.
“Of course, Honey. Very.” She said placatingly though Anthony could hear Lucy’s laughter for several minutes.
Anthony spent the rest of the day in complete disbelief.

If you’re ever up to it I’d love to read Insufferable but from Anthony’s perspective. He was in love with her the whole time 🥺 and so sad everytime Kate pushed him away it’s adorable
Poor Anthony was a little ahead of Kate in realising why they couldn’t seem to stay away from one another, and she maybe wasn’t the kindest while she was figuring it out.
I’m going to be honest, if I do write Insufferable from Anthony’s point of view, it’s a long way off but there’ll probably be snippets of that time in future fics. In the meantime can I interest you in the moment Anthony Bridgerton realised he loved Kate Sheffield?
It’s below the cut if I can!
In hindsight, Anthony could admit that the moment he realised he was in love was fairly ordinary. It happened on a Wednesday, in the staff kitchen of Bridgerton and Sons. He was making himself his afternoon cup of tea when heard footsteps approaching, and his brother’s voice say
“I kid you not! I’ve never seen Eloise so angry but seeing her dunked in flour was genuinely satisfying!” and then he heard it. Kate Sheffield’s laughter. His head shot up, looking for her. And there she was. He looked up just in time to see Gregory and Kate walk past the office, Kate’s head was tilted back slightly laughing, her eyes exuding joy, her nose wrinkled slightly. Anthony felt his stomach swoop, his heart clench, and the air was sucked from the room simultaneously. And then he knew. Anthony made his way slowly out of the office letting his eyes shift towards Kate as he moved across the bullpen.
Kate and Gregory had stopped at Lucy’s desk, Lucy having joined the conversation, laughing lightly. Anthony walked slowly towards his office, killing time, letting himself watch for a minute, just a second, longer. He watched as Kate tucked her long dark hair behind her ear, smiling as she touched his brother on the shoulder, laughing again. Anthony felt a stab of something in his stomach and realised with a jolt, that he was jealous. Jealous of his baby brother.
He could admit, even at the very beginning of their acquaintance, he had always found Kate Sheffield attractive. He’d had a very disconcerting dream about her following the picnic last year, he’d woken up tangled in his sheets and very warm. The dream had reoccurred with startling frequency. Her dark hair and intelligent eyes seemed to draw him in, calling to him. But this was different. He watched her smiling, her eyes sparkling, and his heart ached. He wanted to be the one Kate was smiling at, He wanted to be the one to make her laugh. And he knew, in that moment, that even if she didn’t want him, even if she never would, all he wanted was to be close to her. Maybe they could be friends And that would be enough for him. Just to be close to her and see her happy, that would be enough.  “Can I help you, Anthony?” Kate’s dry voice broke through his reverie and he realised he had stopped still in the middle of the bullpen, staring at her. Kate had her eyebrows raised at him, Lucy was smirking at him, pretending to stare at her screen. Gregory looked smug. Anthony cleared his throat.  “No. of course not, Miss Sheffield.” Kate rolled her eyes at his response as he forced himself to move his feet past her.  He felt his phone buzz in his pocket when he was back in his office. I’m going to dinner with Edwina and Kate on Friday. Wanna Come? Anthony smiled down at Eloise’s text. This was a good start. A Good first step.  I would love to. He replied.

I hope this request isn't too annoying, but can I ask how you imagine lucy finding out the first time she's pregnant and how she tells greg about it? and do you think she's someone who still gets excited like the first time when she is pregnant for the nth time or is she basically just thrusting the pregnancy test into greg's face 'you bastard, again??' while he just sits there with a smug face? 💖
Hey!
These questions could never be annoying because I have a soft spot for Lucy and Gregory 35 kilometres wide( Yes, I’ve gone metric on you all. ‘Straya Mate), as we all know. Two little cuties, and their adorable children, many of whom inherited their father’s terrible eyesight. Indeed poor little Katie Bridgerton has been in glasses since she was 2 years old which Gregory laments but Lucy loves.
I have, very briefly discussed Lucy’s pregnancy in this post here and Lucy’s first pregnancy coincides with Kate’s third, which means Charli and Katie Bridgerton are the closest Bridgerton cousins in age at just one month apart!
I do feel that while Lucy pretends to be exasperated every time she wakes up flooded with nausea, as Gregory grins brightly and says “La la la Lucy, I am so in love with you.” She’s desperately thrilled even as she rolls her eyes and says “Yes, I know, and with so many children, I think everyone else probably does as well.”
Do you wanna see how Lucy found out about her second pregnancy? I think we should.
Lucy had genuinely thought she could not be any more in love with Gregory Bridgerton. Even when her chest had ached from the way he’d kissed her, and she was sure he was wishing she was someone else. And then he’d burst through the conference room door and practically screamed to the entire office how in love with her he was, his face open and earnest and her own heart had double in size. And it had doubled again the day he’d stood in her family home where they’d been forced to marry and told everyone again, and then it had probably quadrupled when she’d looked at the tears in his eyes, his glasses ridiculously askew and his hair very rumpled from the hours he’d spent raking his fingers through it and he said, his voice cracking Lucy, I just... She is so beautiful and I love you both so much before he kissed her. And when she looked at him, happy and satisfied in his role as a full time Dad her heart practically burst with love for him in a ridiculous, all consuming kind of way. So she really shouldn’t have been surprised when it happened again so soon.
She had been sitting in a meeting, barely back at work after her maternity leave when her stomach had lurched violently. She was out of her seat and halfway to the bathroom her brother in law’s voice calling out Lucy, are you okay? Should I call Greg? When she emptied her stomach into the waste paper basket by Levi the intern’s desk. Fuck she muttered to herself. Smiling apologetically at Levi who looked positively appalled as Anthony handed her a handkerchief embroidered with a tiny tulip (Gregory had his own embroidered with Delphinium) I have to go home Lucy said awkwardly as Anthony smiled knowingly and said Yes, that’s probably best Congratulations, Lucy. And the suspicion that she’d had since her stomach lurched 3 minutes ago was confirmed.
She burst through the door of their house an hour later, more than a little manic. She was a meticulous planner, she often matched her lipstick and her underwear for fuck’s sake! how had this happened again?! Greg?! She called out, panic clawing at her chest, tears already in her eyes as she heard her husband’s hurried footsteps. Yes, they wanted more children but Jesus Christ, they’d JUST had a baby. She thought as Gregory came into the hall a frown on his face, six month old Katie strapped to his front, a tea towel over his shoulder, soap suds up to his elbows Luce why are you home so early? Is everything-? He started taking in her slightly distressed appearance his mind clearly racing to put the pieces together. Greg-I-think-I’m-pregnant she cut him off, the words all slurring together, and Gregory froze, his mouth hanging open a little. And panic clawed even more viciously at her chest. And then slowly a grin spread across his face and Lucy breathed for the first time in an hour.
Of course, 10 minutes later Gregory was spinning her around in the bathroom whooping with delight, Katie gurgling happily in her rocker and Lucy’s heart felt so unbelievably full for this ridiculous, adorable, man and the tiny family they were creating together I love you so much Gregory Bridgerton. She whispers in his ear later that night as they lie awake as intertwined as their lives are and his answering grin is blinding when he says La la la Lucy I couldn’t love you any more if I tried.
When she’s pregnant again 18 months later she definitely feels a little less in love. Well. Maybe.

I think HotDad!Greg and everything that comes with it (especially a smug Lucy in front of the other moms) is probably my favourite thing in this universe (and I absolutely adore this entire universe!) but like, Greg not realizing how everyone's swooning over him, the annoyed brothers, a way too overenthusiastic Greg, etc.. it's all so *chef's kiss* 💖
Ahhh HotDad!Gregory Bridgerton I’m in love with the very notion of him. And I just feel like Lucy would be so unbothered, the complete opposite of jealous because she knows that 1) Gregory doesn’t even notice these other women 2) Gregory loves her and their family, to distraction.
Let’s see a little more Hot Dad Gregory and his adoring wife, hey?
@aspoonfuloffiction your boy’s back
Lucy Abernathy-Bridgerton was ludicrously proud to be the woman Gregory Bridgerton chose to be his wife. Even when they’d first gotten together and he’d nudged her towards his mother in the Bridgerton and Sons office one day a brilliant smile on his face as he said Mum, you remember Lucy don’t you? Mum, Lucy’s my girlfriend. His chest puffing out proudly, his face radiating joy, her heart had fluttered. It had made her want to stand taller herself. The only problem was, Gregory didn’t see it. Didn’t see how handsome and sweet, and kind he was didn’t see that these were the things that made her love him, right to the very heart of her. When he smiled at her across the room, when he dropped her mug back on her desk before she’d even thought to refill it, when he left flowers on her desk after lunch because he’d seen them and thought the looked pretty She loved him. And still he couldn’t see how amazing he was.
Gregory had always been a little oblivious to the attention of women. Even when they’d first started dating Lucy had laughed brightly when she’d seen the waitress’ phone number written across the top of the cheque, Gregory frowning bemusedly down at it. That’s funny, she must have thought she knew me and Lucy’s heart had stuttered for him. Honey, I think she probably just noticed that you’re a very handsome man who’s also very sweet and kind. Lucy had laughed thinking about the brilliant smile he’d given the waitress every time she’d come over. Gregory’s frown deepened. I don’t... think that’s it. I’m not... you know, like you I guess. He’d said smiling at her shrugging. What do you mean? Confusion had risen in her chest and she’d felt herself frown again. Lucy, you know how stunning you are right? He said so earnestly it made her chest ache a little And I’m just me I guess. Lucy had sighed, as she adjusted his glasses ever so slightly for him. Greg, you’re kind of really handsome, and you don’t even know it which is the best part. You can’t just be throwing out those charming smiles, girls are going to drop. She kissed his cheek as he looked a little dubious I should know, you did it to me. Let’s get out of here and I’ll show you just how handsome I think you are. And she’d tugged him from the restaurant leaving Stacey’s number behind them.
And then, they’d had Katie. And Gregory was so excited to be a Dad that it was all Lucy could do not to push him up against the nearest surface at all times. He was researching, schools, and prams, and cots, and breast pumps for christ’s sake all before she was even born. And when she was he was so beautiful with her that Lucy fell in love with hi three times over. Gregory Bridgerton was born to be a father, he was patient, and gentle, and soft and so ridiculously in love with their child that Lucy couldn’t take her eyes off him. And neither could other women it seemed. Everywhere they went women seemed to flock to him, with Katie strapped to his chest in her carrier, her little knitted yoda hat on, legs dangling happily. And Yes, Lucy was aware that her daughter was beautiful, with her dark hair and piercing eyes, but she was also aware that these women were mostly looking at the way Gregory held his daughter’s hand gently, even though she was strapped against him, the way he sung softly to her no matter where they were. It was so beautiful. And again, Gregory had no idea. People are so friendly when you have a baby!  Gregory said happily as they strolled through Marks and Spencer one day and Lucy snorted Honey, I don’t think the barista just now was so friendly because you had a baby. I think it was probably how you look with the baby. Gregory’s eyebrows had raised his head tilted like an adorably confused puppy Greg, honey, you’re very handsome and in love with your child and being a Dad, it’s very... distracting Gregory’s face had broken out into a broad cheeky grin La la la Lucy are you hitting on me here? in M&S?! In front of our child? Have you no shame woman? And she’d rolled her eyes because of course Gregory had no idea.
It became even more apparent when their children started school, The mother’s seemed to flock to Gregory who baked cakes for the class, and volunteered for class excursions and helped with the reading groups, and did their daughter’s hair standing in the school yard. He loved his children, and women loved that. Not to mention, he way the youngest dad by far, barely 30 when Katie started, school, looking so wholesome in his sweaters and sneakers. They couldn’t help themselves. And honestly, Lucy couldn’t help but feel a little smug when she stepped out of their range rover and the expectant smiles slid off their faces. When she showed up to do reading groups and the teacher sighed Oh. Hi Mrs Bridgerton. Lucy couldn’t help but laugh honestly. Doesn’t it bother you at all? Sophie had said once as they sat around drinking at Kate’s house I mean, I know Kate finds it a little hilarious when women hit on Anthony but- Kate had cut her off If someone wants to take Anthony off my hands at thins point I’d thank her. She’d laughed before continuing seriously. But honestly I know that Anthony’s version of flirting is being an absolute maniac for 12 months until he yells that he’s in love with you out of frustration. I’m not worried. Lucy had laughed as well and said Oh, Greg’s such a sweetheart, he has absolutely no idea how cute he is. As far as he’s concerned I’m the only woman who’s ever found him attractive. How do you think I ended up here in the first place?!
