Special Q&A with Moon Nayoung.
now that you’re not an actress anymore, the world is dying to know: what is moon nayoung doing?
what a pesky devil of you. it’s not like i’m very busy but it’s not i want to be busy, so eating well, sleeping well, travelling, picking different hobbies, spending a lot of time on youtube. i’m unemployed, but gladly.
Tumblr media
do you ever plan on acting again?
noo, i loved acting but that phase of my life is over. i am ready to be myself and no else for quite some time. i encourage acting though, it’s an exercise and it was an experience.
Tumblr media
we saw your cat a lot on your social media, what’s is their name?
oh, when we started this i was crossing my fingers thinking: please talk about my cats. in all forms expect physical, i’m a cat. so i found manwol in a shelter, she looked me in the eye suspiciously and i thought “she is testing me”, so i took her home to complete her task. she is always watching me, i don’t know if like a affectionate way, however she is very jealous of the people around me and for that reason i think we identify with each other. i don’t remember my boyfriend’s cat names though, he has many and they just keep adding, i just call them what i feel like calling them and they always answer, it’s like an unspoken connection.
Tumblr media
when are you and keun getting married though?
it’s that a thing you’d like to see? think we should live it for the world and charge a few to enter the livestream?
Tumblr media
what’s the most used app on your phone?
it’s between my yoga app, subway surfaces and piano tiles. people often underestimate how good i am with phone games, not that i am bragging but i’ve had years of boredom and that adds to the experience.
Tumblr media
we heard you like cooking, what’s your favorite dish to cook right now?
my favorite thing to cook... is spaghetti, there is like a hundred ways to do them differently and i love noodles. garlicky spaghetti, vegetable spaghetti, crock-pot spaghetti, the famous carbonara... there is baked spaghetti, it’s one of my favorites, chicken spaghetti, there is even a million dollar spaghetti that’s great and super easy. but last week i aced the tagine, it’s from maroccos. fun fact is most people think the word tagine is the meal itself but tagine is actually the cookware used to cook the meal. the reason for using a tagine is to make a dish tender and bring out its natural flavors.
Tumblr media
what’s the place you want to travel the most?
i would love to go somewhere on the american continent, because their food is rich and it’s very different from asia but at the same time i don’t like travelling for long periods and spending too much time on a plane. i would like to see mexico or argentina, maybe even cuba too.
Tumblr media
which of your friends are you most proud of? and why?
i don’t have that many friends, it’s not that hard to choose between them. the one that most accomplished things this year was bonghu, but that’s mainly because she got pregnant and i admire her nerve. she is a great friend, mom, person, woman and all in general so that makes me proud.
Tumblr media
what’s the song you sing along when you hear it?
ring ring.
Tumblr media
who is the last person you texted? and what as the text about?
it was my friend group, i send a bear emoji with a blinking heart. i can’t recall what was the conversation about, it just called for a cute bear emoji.
Tumblr media
how is your morning routine?
i wake up, look into my phone for like fifteen minutes to an hour (there is no in-between), i go pee and take a shower, do my skincare, feed the cats, cook breakfast, eat breakfast, go jogging or hit the gym. now in quarantine i would do yoga at home, but since it’s better now i just go jogging again. and that takes about my whole morning.
Tumblr media
who was your first celebrity crush?
i think it was patrick swayze, but also harrison ford.
Tumblr media
what’s on your mind like right now?
this. i mean? what else? i don’t know.
Tumblr media
what do you spent way too much money on?
masterclass online classes! i find it so interesting even though i know i don’t have the vocation of being a professional in that area, i mean... it’s just so great. i started paying for gordon ramsey’s classes, because i love that man but now i think i’ve even seen natalie portamn, anna wintour and even usher’s classes.
Tumblr media
what’s the most cringy worthy thing you’ve seen someone post on social media?
i’m not one to judge cause all i have are cats and food, and that’s the most cringy worthy you can ever get on social media but i hate when people do this long captions like, no one is gonna read it and they know it but they just do that too sound smart and meaningful. i mean there’s nothing you can really say that can’t be said in private, right? i don’t know.
Tumblr media
what was the last show you binge-watched?
finished you a few days ago, don’t know if it was worth it, but i did it anyways. there was stranger too, season two was very well done.
Tumblr media
what is your favorite item of clothing?
my favorite item of clothing? hm, i think is black high waist pants because one) it’s comfy. two) it’s cheap. 3) it goes with anything in your wardrobe. 4) and with any weather or mood.
Tumblr media
what are you passionate about?
i think... i’m passionate about just living, i mean. focusing on the present feeling and go from there, you know?! no need to be anxious about things you can’t see, while being responsible about the things you do right now and just work with that, like, make your lemonades.
Tumblr media
what’s the best part of your 20′s? what are you taking from this age?
hm. there is a lot of figuring out, from yourself and from others, nothing is certain and everything is fragile but also soothing and exciting. like there is many things i wanna do but also i don’t feel like doing, it’s a contradictory age that’s just hard to understand. i was not one to feel nostalgic or regret things, but as you get older you start to do that and you have to remind yourself that is a way to learn and be better. so for me, the best part is truly looking at yourself differently everyday, changing is inevitable so you have to keep remembering who you are and what you stand for in order to keep going. i hope that i am taking a better person from this. also make good friends, that’s probably the best advice and best part of your 20′s.
Tumblr media
who was the last person you had a deep conversation with?
i don’t have many deep conversations, i am more the type that listens. but when i do it’s just thoughts, like now in this interview. so probably my last deep conversation is this, because you’re asking me things that are hard not to be deep about.
Tumblr media
best advice you received from someone.
advice’s can be fragile and change from time to time, so the only one i think is right is about being kind to others, that sounds basic but that’s because it’s suppose to be.
Tumblr media
what’s the one food you can’t bring yourself to eat?
funny enough, i don’t like egg. like fried egg, i mean if it’s in the food and as an ingredient, i don’t really mind but as a meal itself... i don’t really like it. i don’t care for tofu either, i can eat it though.
Tumblr media
if you were in a band, what kind of music would you play?
i would go for r&b but it would become popular quick so i’d have to make it pop but with still a little r&b vibe, know what i mean? but i can’t really sing, or play any instrument.
Tumblr media
if it would have a movie about your life, what would be the title?
did you listen to folklore, the taylor swift album? i came across mad woman, and i really like that song, i think something like that... it doesn’t need to be something big and meaningful, just moon nayoung it’s fine. but i don’t want a movie about my life, there is many other important stories to tell.
Tumblr media
do you believe in astrology?
i don’t really have an opinion. i’m a sagittarius, who are suppose to be really free spirits, curious and idealistic, which i don’t know if it’s me or not. so i think is funny but i don’t really care.
Tumblr media
do you consider yourself romantic? what’s the most romantic gesture you have done?
me? i don’t know. i don’t think i do things in name of romance, i do them because i want to. that sounds sooo bitter, but i swear it’s not! i may be a romantic though, but i am not hopeless, at least not anymore. cooking for your partner counts as big romantic gesture? cause i’ve done that a lot.
Tumblr media
what was your favorite book as a child?
peter pan and little women. i probably didn’t wanna grew up, right?!
Tumblr media
do you prefer baths or showers?
i like both, but i prefer showers because it takes less time and it’s more practical. cold showers in the summer all the way.
Tumblr media
tell something you learn that you wish more people would too.
pay your bills before due date, mark them on your calendar or something and try to pay them before it’s due. even if it leave you broke for a few days, if you take your time it will only make you more lazy and it will become a habit.
Tumblr media
now leave us with a secret that no one knows about you.
there is not much people don’t know about me anymore and if there is, that’s the reason why it’s a secret, am i right? but maybe i call tell you that i already cheated on a text or something, cause that’s all i have for you. sorry.

Save Research at CCW!
Tumblr media
Dear Prof Crow,
Having learnt about the restructuring of CCW and that the jobs of research staff specializing on East Asian art and design are put at risk, we are deeply concerned and would like to request you to consider rectifying the matter.
As much as we appreciate the college’s attempt to streamline resources, we nonetheless cannot understand why East Asia would ever be considered irrelevant. We strongly believe that exposures to different cultures are essential for well-rounded training for artists and designers. Our specialists in the area [names redacted] are established and respected scholars in their respective fields. They have been bringing to the school their expertise and substantial academic output, and also opportunities for research students to take part in international conferences and to publish in reputed journals. Further to helping students build their academic credentials, these connections also raise CCW’s international profile.
These staff members are critical for attracting students with diverse scholarly interests, who would otherwise not be here. Many of these students are international students who contribute substantially to the college’s finance, as their fees are way higher than domestic students. Although we do not see universities as profitable businesses, that such income is conducive to the college’s financial sustainability cannot be undermined.
At a personal level, those of us who are currently doing our PhD at CCW are very worried that our ongoing research might be jeopardized. We are sure that you would agree that academic expertise, connections in the respective fields, understanding of the students’ progress and a long-term relationship are all indispensable for PhD supervision. Although you have stated in your message to all research students on May 8 and discussion with student rep Amanda Johansson that our supervision will be continually taken care of, substitution is unpreferred as our current DOS/supervisors were originally appointed because they were the most suitable faculty members the college could offer to us.
Last but not least, we also fear that the case might damage CCW's reputation. The failure to acknowledge the importance of cross-cultural understanding might be seen as a sign of parochialism. The discontinuation of tenures without strong justifications and open communication is procedurally unjust. The unconsulted change of a pivotal part of our research programme can be alarming to both current as well as prospective students. Any one of these criticisms can put the college's good repute at risk.
In view of the above reasons, we hope that you would safeguard the tenures of these staff members. We trust that you would take it as your responsibility to protect the interests of the college and its research students. Thank you very much for your kind consideration.
Yours sincerely

Group A: Hungary v Russia 9-8, Greece v Slovakia 18-2, Serbia v Croatia 8-9 Standings: 1. Greece 9, 2. Hungary 9, 3. Russia 6, 4. Croatia 3, 5. Serbia 0, 6. Slovakia 0 Group B: Netherlands v Italy 10-4, Spain v Israel 18-2, France v Germany 17-5 Standings: 1. Netherlands 9, 2. Spain 9, 3. France 6, 4. Italy 3, 5. Israel 0, 6. France 0
Hungary and Russia usually entangle into tremendous fights, 5 out of their last 8 encounters at the Europeans – including the last two in 2016 and 2018 – saw a single goal deciding the outcome. And it ended the same way, though at halftime the hosts seemed to have firm control as they led 6-3 while the Russians were unable to score in the second period. Rita Keszthelyi already netted three goals, the second one was his 100th alone at the Europeans. However, their rivals came back strong for the second half, Maria Bersneva broke their scoreless period of 9:29 minutes and deep into the third they equalised for 6-6.
It was Hungary’s turn to bounce back and they just did that: Rita Keszthelyi’s brilliant lob halted their scoreless phase at 8:46 minutes and another action goal just 36 seconds later gave them an 8-6 lead before the last break. The last period saw an enormous fight, Russia pulled one back with 4:42 remaining then they missed a crucial man-up while Anna Illes put one away in the dying phase for 9-7. Olga Gorbunova’s ball just sneaked in from the post in a 6 on 5 so the Russians had 1:56 minutes to save a point but they couldn’t set up another fine shooting chance.
In the other big game of the day Italy once again failed to be on the same level with its rival and they suffered another 6-goal defeat like against Spain. At half-time the Netherlands led 6-4 so some more excitements were in sight – instead the Dutch netted three more goals in the third to decide the outcome. Italy remained scoreless in the entire second half, altogether for 17:42 minutes. Their man-up was 2 for 4 at the beginning, but collapsed then to go 0 for 7 afterwards and they had a 14.8% shooting efficiency (4/27). At the other end Debby Willemsz posted a 71.4% saving percentage and Maud Megens scored 5 goals, one more than the entire Italian side.
In this group Spain beat Israel with ease and France handed a 17-5 defeat to the Germans, the heaviest in the history of the two teams in 35 years.
In Group A Greece enjoyed another easy match before taking on Hungary and Russia. In the game probably deceding the 4th place Serbia and Croatia staged a brilliant battle, sometimes recalling the tensions of the males’ big clashes. The Croats had the better start and took a 2-4 lead but the Serbs hit back with three connecting goals for 5-4. But the Croats reacted well, came back to 7-7 till the end of the third and after killing a man-down they managed to score twice for 7-9. The Serbs were unable to score for long minutes, with 1:02 to go they missed a penalty, and even though pulled one back 42 seconds from time, they created a shooting chance too late in their last possession and scored only after the buzzer. This win sets up the Croats to reach the quarters for the first time in their history.

Questions with: Anna Cho
what’s your morning routine?
there is a lot of staring to the ceiling, self-reflecting, until i am with enough courage to check my phone and my schedules for the day. i write everything before hand on my phone the night before, so i can follow it, some days though i just wing it. then i take a shower, try doing a skincare (that i don’t follow strictly like i should), then i walk my dogs first and eat breakfast with them. if i have a schedule, i eat breakfast first and walk them in the evening. i like to eat fruits in the morning, avocados are my favorite, but i don’t follow any diets.
Tumblr media
perfect weekend.
i don’t know if it’s because i’m getting old but i just don’t enjoy travelling that far anymore (don’t think i ever did honestly), these days i’m glad when i can just spend a weekend on the countryside, with a picnic between the trees or something picturesque. i even take pictures of flowers on my phone, seriously, i’m growing towards that. sleeping in a countryside inn after a homemade food, you know?! i love discovering new places not that far away for a getaway like that.
Tumblr media
something from your bucket list to stratch soon.
how do you know i have a bucket list? every year i make one, it’s like my mental healing but also more of possible and sometimes just pretty unique goals. one of the things that were in my bucket list forever was to buy the perfect house, i did that! but also there are things like: try knitting. which is one i’ll probably do soon, i already brought all the supplies i need for it. what should i try knitting? send me ideas, guys, but nothing too complicated please. i need to began journaling again too, organizing my journals is in order next.
Tumblr media
something you like about your career/job.
inspiring people! meeting new people that had been inspired by my music! i can’t say enough how much it makes me happy hearing that someone was inspired by my work, or when i can meet those people and see their ideas over my own work. it just... bursts me into happiness. when i see these younger groups of my company coming to me for advice, asking for my opinion or simply just interested, i try to give everything i can to empower them because i believe that’s my greatest mission. and meeting all of my fans, getting to know them and providing a progressing ambient over their dreams and creativity is an amazing thing to do. any healing that i can provide it’s my own healing, really. i think that’s something i learned from keun sunbaenim when i was starting, i just love passing that on and i hope they will pass on to the future too. and thank you for asking that, it’s such a sweet question.
Tumblr media
are you happy with what you have achieved in your life up until now?
last year i was really reflecting on that, and the answer is probably that i am not sure. the only thing i am sure is that i am glad that everything i did helped me grown into the person i am now; someone that values each day as an accomplishment, someone that grew from knowledge and learned from her own sensitivity. i accepted that i am no longer only the lesbian girl that makes lo-fi romantic songs, but also the woman who saw herself over her own tragedy heartbreaks which help her built the safe home she has now. so, overall, i’d say yes, i am happy with who i am and what that help me got everything i have. but much more than that i am more glad with what happened in my life in that mean time, hoping i can continue to write and sing about that in order to help people who will go through i everything i did and still do. that’s why i’ll never stop my music, my self-reflecting, even if it gets tedious after a while. i wrote my song ‘while living life’ exactly on those terms actually. like- what matters the most is not what i got, but what i learned, the feelings that helped me see life and who i am and hope to become.
Tumblr media
things you miss about your childhood.
oh, the feeling of innocence that lays only in the early days of or lives. we literally lived each day as the only day, like the week, month or year wasn’t really our concern and it truly wasn’t, we were just so carefree and passionate about everything. i miss that from my childhood. i’d day eating sweets too, i don’t know why but deserts had an expression of everything of good in the world and i just don’t enjoy candy like i did when i was a child.
Tumblr media
your thoughts on marriage.
are you asking me that just because i haven’t mentioned yet that i am happily married? because you didn’t have to, i’d probably do it anyway. to be honest though, i never thought i would get married at the age i did. it was out of sudden, but it was perfect and i wouldn’t change anything about it. the highlight of my life, it was one of the happiest days i ever lived. so my thoughts are: just let it happen, that’s love, that’s life... and when you are ready just proclame it the way you want, getting married or not is just an add on, as long as the person you are with fully know how much you love and want to cherish your everyday with them.
Tumblr media
what’s your life like married to a celebrity?
not hazy like i thought it would be, honestly. i used to think that if me and kuen ever got together there would be distance, miscommunication and lots of fighting over nothing but ever since we actually did it doesn’t happen like once was. because we grew a lot, we are more mature and honest now. we live peacefully, she travels for work, i lock myself in the studio, we walk or dogs, we dine out, we watch shows together, we days out for ourselves and just breath in everything we missed from each other. it’s a sharing, completing and each day discovering feeling. just living day by day, making it work, somehow.
Tumblr media
if you could be anything else in the world, what would you be?
i’d like to be a teacher or own my own cafe, hotel or restaurant. just a profession where i could deal with people, help them, ease their ways... just like i think i do. but i can’t picture myself without music though, i’d still be with my guitar alongside those lines. have you met the chinese restaurant next to ong? i don’t know if many people know this but it’s like the “point” between the break, so it’s a place people go to meet, eat and feel safe, that’s what i’d like to be. like the chinese owner of the chinese place next to ong.
Tumblr media
your favorite season and why?
i find spring the most lovely season of the year, not only because of the flowers but it’s when the weather is the most stable and it rains a little bit and i like rain. i like days when it’s sunny, but not too sunny. whenever someone asks me what’s the best time to visit south korea, i say spring in a heartbeat because you can see the cherry blossoms and feel like in a drama.
Tumblr media
the best kind of cake is...
not to sweet, not too flashy. i like to eat cake in the evening, like after watching a movie or reading a book, sometimes even before going to bed. and i recently discovered this bakery not far from my house, i ask them to deliver and they already know my order is vanilla or strawberry, sometimes ice cream cake is the answer to every sorrow in life.
Tumblr media
who are you planning to collab with next?
you wanna know my true wish is to collab with literally everyone in my company, there are so many talent people! and i am always excited to work with any kind of music, it’s a challenge that i welcome every time. but if i can be honest i loved collabing with arkam! it was something i wanted for a long time, you can say it was on my bucket list. i am not even kidding when i say they are all music geniuses. so as soon as i can i want to collab with them again, i don’t even care how or when, just hopefully it will happen more. also hailey sweetie, if you’re hearing this, contact me, i’ve been listening to your new songs and i’m obsessed.
