As we learned from Cold Waves, you can’t have one without the other. Throw in Kendall Wooding and Adam Fink to the Jason Corbett and Shannon Hemmett fire and it’s basically Leathers with additional personnel. I don’t have much feel for either, but obviously that doesn’t mean they’re bad bands by any means. So for our listeners of Omega WUSB, we’re playing both. Of all the songs from It Will Come To You, we’re choosing Slaves for future airplay. It’s the least we can do.

“Did that kiss mean anything to you?”
Riley bit her lower lip the second the words left her. She turned aside, bringing up her hand to scratch her forehead so that Kendall couldn’t look at her. Or else, she suddenly gained the ability to turn invisible. Anything so that she didn’t have to see the look on his face.
Not that she would anyway, she’d had her head buried in the crook of his neck, nestled between his jaw and shoulder for the past…
Who knew how long? Time was floating by in a non-linear fashion, as it always did whenever she was with him. Sometimes they’d be talking for what felt like minutes and then be surprised when hours would have gone by…or that someone else has joined them and simply had been watching. How many times had Camille seemed to have come out of nowhere and was simply smiling at the two of them… (Or the times that everyone would be around them and when they’d next looked up they were alone).
Long enough that the kiss she just planted on him stretched between them. She saw the surprised, yet nervous expression on his face when she leaned in over him and pressed her lips to his. Their first kiss since having admitted they were more than friends. How many times can you “hang out” and do date things before you were actually dating?
How long could you be ‘just friends’ before your hand holding, hugging, long conversations, and cuddling was anything more than just things you did with your close friends? What did it take for someone to make the first move when it was clear things could be moving in a different direction? Was the risk of losing a friendship worth it?
All the same thoughts shot through Riley’s head as it always did when she found herself even remotely thinking about Kendall…which admittedly and annoyingly was a lot. The boy seemed unable to leave her head since having met him, even when she was more than annoyed at the antics he and the rest of the boys would inevitably drag her into. (Though it tickled her devious nature enough for it not to take much to be talked into helping them when they asked for it).
When all he had to do was clasp his hands together and smile for her help when she already knew she was in the second he opened his mouth. What else would a girl do when she was being asked by her best friend/crush to spend time with him?
All of that went through her head, spurning her to reach over and kiss him.
And he said nothing.
Just let her kiss him.
What the hell was that supposed to mean? Did he not feel the same way? There was no way he didn’t feel the same way. There were a lot of things she was, but being unable to determine when a boy liked her was not one of those things. For all the confidence and bravado she could push forward, Kendall was the only person who managed to break past that exterior and make her question herself like any other teen in existence…
And she equally loved and hated him for it.
Silence continued to stretch between them, enough so that Riley’s heart started to pound against her ribcage. So much so that she could hear the crickets of Palm Woods Park bleating around them. It was something that made her peek her head out from beneath Kendall’s jaw and took in the stunned…more accurately scared expression on his face.
She could practically see the gears turning in his head as he worked out what to say. His eyes shifted, the words “Abort! Abort! Abort!” practically running across his forehead.
“What kiss? You mean…” his Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed. Nervous. “My kiss with Lucy?”
Bloody hell!
She knew he was a blonde, but didn’t realize he was that blonde!
Riley’s attitude shot out before she could stop herself. “No, your kiss with Gustavo.”
An image of Gustavo getting close to Kendall’s face in his barking manner came to mind. Screaming something about Kendall being a disobedient dog, before grabbing his shoulders. Continued to scream about how Kendall never listened and Gustavo had wasted his time on someone who had passion going to waste and then Gustavo was leaning closer and closer to—
They shuddered, at the same time.
“Gross,” Kendall said flatly.
Riley laughed, slapping him on the stomach. “You didn’t have to imagine it.” She pushed herself up and gazed down at him, noticing the way he looked away from her. The way she looked away from him, tugging at the blades of grass beneath her. Her lower lip jutted out. “Your kiss with Lucy…did it mean anything to you?”
Kendall took a deep breath through his nose and sat up as well. He looped his arms around his knees, gently rocked back and forth. “I already told you; I didn’t feel anything.”
“That wasn’t my question.”
“What do you want me to say?”
“The truth.” Riley ripped up the blade of grass and tossed it at him. He laughed, leaning away from her. Then, with his other hand, grabbed a handful of grass and tossed it back at her, making her laugh and turn away.
When she turned back, Kendall leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. Riley let out a quiet, squeaking sound of surprise, then leaned back into him, kissing him back. He brought up his hand, resting it on her cheek as he kissed her again. He tapped her cheek with his thumb when he pulled back and said matter-of-factly, “My kiss with Lucy meant nothing,” Kendall replied. His dimples appeared in his cheeks. “But that one was good.” He laughed when Riley reached out and punched him on the arm. “Ow! Why are you hitting me?”
“You know I wasn’t talking about your kiss with Lucy, boofhead.”
Ergo, he scared her.
In a totally annoying and completely thrilling way.
“Then what did you ask me for?” Kendall continued laughing as Riley continued to rain punches on him, alternating between that and throwing grass at him. “I mean, I’m not sure it was a better kiss than Gustavo’s—” that made him laugh harder as she shrieked louder and practically tackled him to the ground.

HWOODALTTASK11 - SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES - PART 2.
You’ve been invited by a unnamed person to a party in a huge mansion that you’ve never noticed in town before. The party is in full swing, when suddenly you find yourself locked inside of a room with another person. You don’t know how or when the doors will open, so make the most of your time. Some of the fates have brought lovers together, some of brought drama together, some are giving those the push they need, and others are luck of the draw.
You must have some form of interaction with the person you are paired with. This can be done in para, gif, chat or chatty form. You will have from the SATURDAY 17TH OCTOBER to SATURDAY 31ST OCTOBER to complete this.
Your characters will remember everything that happens on this night. This is a Halloween party so feel free to post your characters costumes from now until the 31st. Also, if you did not sign up a character to the task, feel free for them to attend the Halloween party as normal!
Tag everything as hwoodalttask11 to receive activity credit. You DON’T receive activity credit for costume posting, that’s just for fun if you want to. You only receive the activity credit for the interaction posts.
