Devlon x Rhys's Mom
Hear me out (@popjunkie42 and I have discussed this at length, bless her heart):
It's established that Rhys's mother was not in love with the High Lord. She spent most of her time in Illyria, had her wings intact, and apparently was given enough freedom to move about on her own that she could take her daughter on camping outings.
Plenty of opportunity for her to fall in love with the War Lord who seems to be allowed a lot of freedom to disrespect Rhys and the other Bat Boys in the present (but, Cee, he trained them and that's where the sentimentality comes from! No. That's not romantic and tragic enough.)
Those laws imposed to stop female wing cutting and to ensure they're trained in the battlefield are quietly (or in the case of Rhys's absence UTM not so quietly) fought because the murder of Rhys's mom and sister's justify that Devlon couldn't protect them, the dangers going against their traditions brings, and the other Illyrians rally around this tragedy.
Devlon looks at Rhys and see's the High Lord that would take his lover off to breed, filled her head with too many High Fae beliefs and values that don't apply to the reality of growing up in brutal Illyria. Devlon looks at Rhys and sees a young male who is still dreaming even though Devlon lost his dream centuries ago.
Devlon looks at Rhys and sees his mother, the daughter that was like his own, and relives the grief of those losses over.
And Rhys looks at Devlon and sees the male his mother actually loved. He knows he'll never be able to dispose of the stubborn Lord or his old-fashioned beliefs because it would mean disposing of someone his mother cherished.
So, they're both trapped in each other's orbits and Devlon tends to Rhys's mother's house whenever the IC aren't in Windhaven and Rhys continues to send Cassian to try and find a middle ground for the old and new.

I will laugh so hard if it turns out that John is making a sincere effort at being a decent parent and it's such an awful outcome for Gideon that I feel like it's plausible. He's giving off such man who thinks of himself as a good guy confronted with oops baby vibes.

what do you think about Aegon and Sunfyre’s bond
to start off, i generally believe that none of the green kids received a cradle egg with the exception of daeron. the only reason i think daeron had a cradle egg and not the others is because daeron was the child alicent had closest in age to jacaerys. viserys by then was super into his children and rhaenyra’s children being milk brothers and true family and all that jazz (i imagine because in some convoluted way he and rhaenyra are closer for it). i also don’t believe it was a deliberate oversight on viserys’ part, he just didn’t think of it as important until daeron’s birth; he and daemon never got cradle eggs and based on the “if you’re bold enough” line towards aemond, viserys seems to lean toward claiming being the ‘correct’ right of passage for a dragonrider.
anyways, in context for my general thoughts on aegon and sunfyre, this is significant because they did not grow up together. aegon claimed sunfyre. we know that sunfyre was born on the dragonmont and not in the pit, so i tend to lean toward sunfyre being a wild dragon prior toward their claiming. (*non-important, but i also think sunfyre is a hatchling of vermithor and silverwing). with aegon not having a dragon up until this point and having the associated pressures of being a targaryen without a dragon, as well as the firstborn son without a dragon or a birthright, there’s also a bit of an overcompensating aspect to aegon having the most beautiful golden dragon.
BUT THE BOND, the reason why they work so well and are my favorite dragon bond example is that aegon values sunfyre, not for his beauty or power, but for his loyalty. he values sunfyre not for what he means for him as a targaryen, but rather what it means for aegon as a person. hence, the usage of sunfyre as his personal sigil. sunfyre is the only being that sees aegon for aegon and is loyal to the man not the crown. everyone else in aegon’s life does not see him as a person but instead as a prop for their own political plays. he was born for one purpose and he falls short. but sunfyre doesn’t care about his ‘grand purpose’ or politics; sunfyre is loyal to aegon because he’s aegon.
the depth of that loyalty however is another fun character aspect of aegon that i haven’t exactly dug into before. essentially, i find it fascinating that in the end the son that saves alicent in king’s landing is not her favorite warriorson or her perfect knightson, but the drunk failson who while half-burnt and crippled did everything he could to get back to his mother. that and sunfyre flying miles, broken and injured, to save aegon. i think at the heart of their bond is that loyalty (whether or not it is selfish in nature is another thing).

Kaeya oftentimes wonders what it must have been like, living in Khaenri'ah. Reading the tales of Khaenri'ahn heroes Jean's shared with him, of things he remembered his father mentioning, helped him picture it all. As did knowledge the Akademiya has of Dahri ruins he managed to get his hands on one way or another years later, during his visit to Sumeru.

That AITA poll I just reblogged really got me thinking...it's simply amazing how many people feel obligated to stay in a relationship for some arbitrary reason, or guilty for breaking up with someone because they feel it wasn't justified enough.
I'm here to tell you that this is ridiculous. You can break up with anybody at any time for any reason. Period. That's it. You don't have to "wait it out." You don't have to stay out of some twisted sense of loyalty or because they're a good person or whatever. If you don't want to be in a relationship anymore, leave it. I swear to god it is so, so, so much more healthy to leave an unwanted relationship than to stay in something that isn't bringing you joy.

brief hunger games verse notes... cassie was raised in the capitol until she was 14. her father was a district 3 man shipped out to help with the security of the games and her mother was a little tv psychic who capitalised on the capitol's love for a spectacle. in good favour with the officials, she convinced them to let her father stay in the capitol and eventually married him. when both her father and athena were arrested for smuggling food and resources to those in district 3, cassie's family had to flee the capitol to avoid being arrested with them. the four women underwent much hardship and trail in the forest around the districts, but they eventually were found by scouts from district 13 and brought back there. from there, cassie lives until she is 18, which is when katniss arrives.

Is Grey Wing going to get some growth in the DOTCs rewrite? I like him in cannon, but like the other nonny said, he'd be alot better if he had *growth* as a character. Also, I think his bio kits are important in clan history later (al least in one of the guides, I think) so are you just going to combine them into one of his adopted kits, or combine have him father half a litter? (Why don't the Erin's do that, either since cats can do that irl? Also how would that work in the clans?)
I definitely want him to have growth in some capacity. Whatever ends up happening, I would like for him to grapple with how his brother Clear Sky is affecting his mindset, and how he's turning the forest cruel.
Also you're probably thinking of his biokit White Tail, who was said to be one of Tigerstar's nine lives where she gave him a warning about small cats... but that's not actually the White Tail of DOTC. So the one use that any of his biokits had wasn't actually a real use.
No, White Tail, Black Ear, and Silver Stripe are completely and utterly axxed. They will not be part of the Bonefall Rewrite in any capacity, unless they're given to someone else entirely.
Gray Wing will never have biokits. He HAS four children- Thunder, Sparrow Fur, Pebble Heart, and Owl Eyes.

okay. real talk I don't like the antagonism between percy and annabeth in the tv series it's just unnecessary like the thing about them is that they were NEVER enemies to lovers (not in my book anyway) annabeth was apprehensive and maybe overly critical but that changed to ride or die real quickly. what happened to annabeth saying she'd fight by percy's side AGAINST her mother if it came down to it midbook 1??? like they're supposed to be friends 😭😭 im sure it'll come later but I liked seeing the gradual buildup, the banter, the camaraderie except it was never framed as antagonistic in the books as it is in the tv series.....

Some people REALLY need to hear this. Friendship isn't a contest. It's not supposed to be something you win at. 'This is my friend' isn't meant to be a statement of ownership.
A real friend can accept that their friends have other friends and will not try to isolate them or claim all of their time. A true friend will give their friends some space. They will be there when needed if circumstances permit, but they will not stay to suffocate and smother their friend, they will not expect full submission to their will.
If your friend is in hospice because they are on the verge of death, do not demand to be the one and only visitor during visiting hours every day. You are exhausting your dying friend and sending them to the grave sooner and more miserable, as well as denying them the opportunity to see their family and other friends.
Accept that there are things in life that are not meant to be won, accept that not everything is a competition. Accept that sometimes, it's time for you to butt tf out and let others enjoy life or say their goodbyes or whatever in between.
