What I think a lot of antis misunderstand about the message of someone like me - as someone outspokenly pro-ship and pro-kink is...
Everyone is within their right to want to protect themselves from content that makes them uncomfortable! If you're a minor, and you don't want adults to interact with you? That's a reasonable boundary to set! Boundaries, in general, are usually healthy, appropriate, and even necessary (not always, of course, but most of the time!). Heck, I am pro-basically-everything, but I still set boundaries, and there's lots of content I support the existence of without ever having any desire to interact with myself. Like. Ever. EVER. You do you but I'll be over here, having nothing to do with it, thanks. I'm anti-censorship, and pro-fiction-is-fiction, period.
So, when people like me roll our eyes and go, "God, why are all these people making ridiculous DNIs? Don't they know how pointless this is?" we're not saying "Don't set boundaries."
You absolutely should set boundaries, for your mental health, comfort, and protection.
We're saying - okay, well, maybe I shouldn't speak for everyone - but, I'm saying, "why are people who only feel comfortable within such narrow boundaries on a website like Tumblr?"
This is the fucking anti-boundaries website! It has reblogging functions you CAN'T TURN OFF. The instant your post leaves your blog? You lose all control over it! Even if you delete the original, you can NEVER get rid of those reblogs! So if you don't want certain types of people interacting with you? Short of hard-wiring that information into the very nature of the post (like, as an enormous watermark that covers your entire piece of artwork) you will never, on Tumblr, be able to set your boundaries, enforce those boundaries, and have them respected.
It's impossible, and it's not because everyone on Tumblr is selfish, or mean, or disrespecting you personally. It has absolutely nothing to do with you! The vast majority of Tumblr users see something they like - and like it for any of a million or more different reasons - and then reblog it without every considering the existence of the original poster beyond MAYBE noticing their username at the top of the post.
They won't check your DNI.
They won't know your squicks.
They won't remember your triggers.
Tumblr is not, nor will it ever be, a safe space.
You cannot, and will never be able to, control the behavior of the Tumblr userbase in the interest of protecting your own personal limits.
It is impossible to set and maintain personal boundaries on Tumblr.
People who say, "god, why do people have these DNIs" aren't saying, "you should be comfortable with everything and if you're not how DARE you," we're saying, "there is a fundamental mis-match between your desire to set boundaries, on the one hand, and the social media platform you've chosen, on the other."
There ARE platforms where it's possible to set boundaries. Discord, Pillowfort, Wordpress, even Facebook, have more functionality for any given individual regulating who interacts with created content and how they can interact.
THIS IS NOT THAT PLATFORM.
If you want to be able to strictly police your boundaries, you are in the wrong fucking place. Anything you post on here, could, at any time, wildly escape containment, get taken entirely out of context, end up on the blog of a domme, or a furry, or a parent, or your grandmother, or, or, or.
If you want to have strict control of your content, your blog, and who you interact with?
You should not be on Tumblr.
You are just setting yourself up to get hurt...and then you blame everyone else when it happens, even though the issue is the mis-match caused by your decision to be on a website that is a total free-for all. YOU CHOSE TO BE HERE, and then you get mad...at the people already here...for not conforming to your expectations. That's a YOU problem, not an everyone else problem. It's like you barged into a Pride parade and went, "Wait why are all these queer people here? And why is there a Parade? I'd rather just hang out with my own friends in a much smaller event CALL OF THE PARADE I DON'T LIKE IT." You sound like a child, and an idiot. Congrats, there are clowns at the circus, what a shock! If you didn't want the queers, if you didn't want the clowns, if you didn't want strangers interacting with you, if you wanted to set and maintain boundaries, then you failed the instant you came on Tumblr. Tumblr is not a website designed for this. End of story.
Have safe spaces. Set boundaries. I encourage you. Heck, I beg you. Having places you feel safe and surrounding yourself with people who respect your boundaries is stupidly important, no matter how young or old you are, how vanilla or kink, how anti- or pro-ship. But it cannot be done it here, and the expectation that it CAN is what so often leads people who are actually behaving like bullies to believe themselves to be victims.
So, like, if this describes you? If you want strict boundaries, and to have certain types of people not interact with you?
The best thing you can do is leave Tumblr, and find your communities elsewhere.
I promise, everyone will be happier if you do.
(and before you say, "but all the things I want are also on Tumblr!" it is...so stupidly easy to make a message board, or create a Discord server. I'm not saying don't have fandom spaces that suit you! I'm not saying you don't belong in fandom! On the contrary, PLEASE do things that bring you joy - but do it in a way you're comfortable with! You're entitled! You deserve it! And you will never be able to here! EVER. This is NOT that space, and you and those who feel as you do should create your own. For your OWN safety, first and foremost, because you deserve a space where your boundaries are respected. And you can't here. This website is explicitly designed to prevent bloggers from being able to protect their boundaries! Expecting your boundaries to be expected here is like going to a field of wildflowers and saying, "ONLY queen anne's lace here all other flowers DNI" and being shocked and personally offended when there'sother flowers all over the fucking place. You can't control what flowers are in the field. Tumblr is a field of weeds and they will grow like crazy, everywhere, no matter what you try to do to stop them. Because that's Tumblr's nature. So STOP TRYING. Go somewhere that you CAN prevent that, and tada, you'll be safe!)

free PillowFort invites - would you like one? what is PF? glad you asked!
Do you know about PillowFort?  Did you find yourself nodding (nay, weeping) about the post I reblogged yesterday about how the tumblr platform sucks for community building?  The one with the quote, “When Authors stopped being friends and turned into content providers, new fandom members never learned to care.” from  zoinomiko?  PILLOWFORT MAY BE EXACTLY RIGHT FOR YOU.  Lemme explain!
Pillowfort is like the best of the LJ/DW platform and the best of the tumblr platform, if all of tumblr had most of x-kit installed (snort).  (forgive me if this list is long but that’s because PF is fucking amazing - I can’t help it!)
Such as:
following:  you can follow others, they can follow you. your feed will be an endless scroll, like here.
reblogs - you like a post, reblog jand it will show up on your PF blog to all of your followers, just like here.
HOWEVER - if you are the original post creator, you control it. Forever.
if you are the post author/creator, you can delete it at any time - and it will be deleted everywhere. (god haven’t you wished you could do this for some of your tumblr posts where reblogs have content you despise but are now permanently out in the world???)
to reiterate: if you made a post, you are in complete control as to its existence - it never ends up reblogged out of your control, because it’s never embedded on someone elses’ blog as new content, even though it’s visible in the PF feeds of those who reblog from you.
you can tag posts when you reblog them, just like here
you can comment on posts (whether you reblog them or not)
as a commenter, you can delete your own comment at any time.
the comment structure is NESTED - like a well constructed forum or DW or LJ.  If someone responds to you, it shows up indented under your comment. If someone comments on the original post, it shows up as not indented.  Just as you’d expect.
if you’ve only ever been on tumblr you have no idea how much this creates relationships and real community.  That post that I reblogged yesterday that talked about how “When Authors stopped being friends and turned into content providers, new fandom members never learned to care.” - THAT is what a forum designed for real discussion in a comprehensible visual format creates.
As the post creator, you can delete anyone’s comments.  You are in charge of the vibe on your own original post.
this creates self-selected community involvement - if you’re a jerk, nice people will un-friend your blog and just leave it alone.  If you foster happy healthy vibes, people will appear and join and comment.
This fosters a huge golden-rule environment that made some blogs a huge happy success on LJ/DW where mean people were banned and kind people were welcomed and celebrated; and some mean toxic successes - where healthy people went somewhere nicer.  I‘m not even gonna bold that.  Because fuck that dynamic on the entire internet.
you can create original posts your followers can read/see on their feeds
you can make these available to all without restrictions
OR you can make them any of these options:
un-rebloggable
un-commentable
marked/categorized as NSFW to help others screen
or visible only to mutuals
(a feature whereby we can create our own curated ‘friend groups’ is promised. remember, this is entirely new code they’re creating. features are being requested and implemented as fast as they can roll them out in a functional way)
Incidentally, if you have a problem, the staff is actually real humans who really respond to you! Shocking, isn’t it?
there are communities you can join or create - have a particular fandom or RL interest?  find or create a community - search by tags!
There are different post types to choose from:
text
picture
video (currently only youtube, but that will expand)
link (shows a preview of the website you’re linking to, just like here) (incidentally, this will embed an instagram photo or video and the video will play - yes!)
audio (currently soundcloud only, that will expand)
You can send private mail to another member (and mail you write does not vanish into the ether, it remains as part of the conversation chain when you click on it.  kinda clunky, but getting there!)
you can choose to receive messages from anyone, noone, or only your mutuals
You can blacklist content based on key-word
You can filter as well
You can block users (god bless the block button anywhere on the internet)
You can check notifications
you can instantly sort ‘replies’ from ‘likes & reblogs’
There are avatars (do they support animation yet? I’m not sure?)
there aren’t themes yet (give the poor coders time!), but you can change your PF’s color scheme to whatever you like
You can deactivate your account - make in vanish, but without deleting it. handy if you just wanna go away, but not lose all your content - and not have your content be visible while you’re gone
You can delete you account (of course)
You have three invites a week you can give away free!  Though PF needs the $5 life-long one-time registration fee to keep the lights on, this is a way to help someone who’d love to be a member, but hasn’t got the cash :)
If you want to join PF and cannot afford the one-time $5 fee (which is paying for server & bandwidth ), I am happy to give away my 3 invites a week to any friends on here - where ‘friend’ equals ‘nice people who’ve been nice on here!’  Just DM me, and I’ll give you one :)  Please pay them if you can afford to though!
Pillowfort is a great design for fandom, it’s not owned by some big corporate entity - it’s run by fans.  Remember what that feels like?  Dreamwidth?  AO3?  Like that.  Real humans, who will really respond to you.
I really really want to see Pillowfort become a successful platform - COME JOIN US!  WE’RE HAVING GREAT FUN AND MAKING REAL RELATIONSHIPS :)
PF members - feel free to chime in about any awesomeness I forgot to include!  [any haters, eff off]
Everyone keep in mind, Pillowfort is a brand new platform being created from scratch - updates roll out regularly (if they break anything, staff is all over it and its fixed quickly), requested features are being implemented all the time (and seldom break things - how weird), and Real Humans Such As Yourself are doing all of this, without whopping paychecks [any paychecks] and without being owned by some corporation.  (Incidentally, they could use your donation - whether one time or subscription, amount is your choice)
If ‘being nice to fellow fans because they are friends, not simply faceless content creators’ is an unfamiliar concept...please feel free to try it out when discussing PF on this post :D
.
ETA!!!
in her HUGELY THOROUGH pifo info post, @lavender-sprinkles  also pointed people toward ‘a completely interaction-free Google form” where you can find free invites!!
The PILLOWFORT INVITE KEY EXCHANGE PROJECT - ‘Itching to join Pillowfort, but can't swing the $5 fee? Fear not! All you have to do is fill out this form and we will connect you with a PiFo user who has a spare key meant just for you! Absolutely FREE! Then just sit back and patiently wait for it to arrive.‘
DUDE. IT COULD NOT BE EASIER TO GET A FREE ACCOUNT - AWESOME!

Intro to the Thiam Pillowfort Community!
Hi there, I’m Sundae!
Why did I make this blog?
I’ve been a hardcore Thiam shipper ever since I finished watching Teen Wolf for the first time last year. Never have I fallen so in love with a ship before; their interactions felt so real and relatable to me, and even when they claimed they didn’t trust each other, they made a great team and always had each other’s backs anyway. Their chemistry together just hit the perfect sweet spot of what I like, so how could I not fall in love with them?
I became so invested in Thiam that I’ve taken on a mission to build a central, communal space for all of us who enjoy the ship to come together to share our creations, swap headcanons, and participate in discussions about our favorite parts of Liam and Theo.
The place I chose as that cooperative hub is on a site called Pillowfort! This Tumblr blog is designed to act as a bridge to give Thiam lovers a glimpse into what is going on over there and show what a great place Pillowfort can be to unite us as one fandom in one place.
What is Pillowfort?
Pillowfort was created in 2017 as a completely user-funded indie social media site that prioritizes privacy, control, and connection in a way most sites funded by ads and investors don’t.
Some examples of Pillowfort’s features are:
Threaded comments, which promote one-on-one discussions and foster more connections than reblogs with comments
Turn off reblogs and comments on your individual posts at any time
Choose whether each of your posts is viewable by everyone, your followers, your mutuals, or just yourself
An intensive blacklist and blocking system (Hide posts with keywords in only tags or tags and post body, and rest assured that users you block can’t see you, your comments, or even your blog while they’re logged in)
Deleting your post deletes all reblogs of it, and edits you make are reflected in all reblogs, so you can fix, retract, and have control over your words and intellectual property
And much more!
Pillowfort also gives users the ability to create “communities”, which are inspired by a feature Livejournal has, for any subject they can think of. They kind of remind me of if Discord servers were more like a Tumblr-style blogging system than instant messaging.
Here are the bullet points on Pillowfort communities:
Communities are set up with rules and run by the community’s mods
People who join are members
Posts can be submitted or reblogged into the community by any member
Posts can ask questions, be random thoughts, discussion starters, or just content you felt like sharing with other members
Conversations can be held easily by any user underneath a post in the threaded comment system
It’s not instant so you never feel like you “missed out” on a cool conversation because you weren’t online or not fast enough
People can talk, share, and lurk at their leisure
Members can “mute” or unwatch a community for a while if its content is too busy for them
Only users who have joined or watched the group will get a communities’ posts in their feed
The culture can be as tight knit or as loose as members connect with each other
How to Join the Thiam Pillowfort Community
If the above about Pillowfort sounds neat to you, I’d love for you to join the Thiam community I’ve created there!
As of August this year, we have about 40 members coming from Tumblr, Twitter, and even Instagram. We have all sorts of of posts about Thiam, Theo, and Liam shared in the community, such as headcanons, one-shots, imagines, moodboards, edits, gifs, art, questions, and more!
I work very hard as the mod there to make sure everything stays organized, friendly, and inviting for Thiam shippers, and if I get some interest for them, I’d love to arrange some periodic events, too!
If you want to join the Thiam community I created, you will need a Pillowfort account, and to make one of those, you will need a free invite from any existing user, kind of like making an account for AO3.
Just reach out to me at any time and I would be glad to hand you an invite link to join. And if you’re a bit shy, I intend to post some links for people to just grab and go without needing to ask as well.
I’m super excited to participate more in the Thiam fandom overall and to share what I have to offer. Thanks for reading!

So I made a @pillowfort-social account and here’s my mini review of the site for anyone who’s looking for an ‘tumblr-like’ alternative. Right off the bat there’s a lot they’re getting right but it is still new and rough around the edges. Hopefully with time it’ll get up to speed.
Tumblr media
Largely it uses the same system as here. You got a home feed where you see all the posts and you can find content by searching tags or going to blogs.
Tumblr media
Making text posts is pretty much the same as here. Photo posting is too but pillowfort doesn’t do the thing where the images get cropped so that everything comes out aligned together. It doesn’t look to streamlined but on the other hand it doesn’t fuck with your image so for the sake of not doing the same thing as tumblr and twitter I hope it stays like this for now. I haven’t tried making video audio or link posts yet so hopefully those work fine too.
The big gamer changer about the posting interface is you can toggle who and how people get to interact with posts. You can change who gets to see your posts on the scale of everyone, followers, mutuals, or invisible. You can also turn off reblogging and commenting. NSFW is a toggle now instead of a tag. Drafts and queuing posts are noticeably absent but hopefully in development
The bigger issue for me is that unlike tumblr you can’t add commentary visible through reblogs. What really makes tumblr good is the social piggyback options to speak through tags and comments if you want to be more subtle or through reblogs for a more public statement. I hope it’s something that gets added in later otherwise that’s the biggest deal breaker for me. If that does happen I need to stress that comments and reblog additions need to be distinct. No one or the other nonsense.
Tumblr media
Tags mostly the same. It’s most recent by default. A most popular option would be nice but they got it right by doing it this way first. Also I prefer tumblr’s system of cramming more posts on the screen for a more efficient spelunk.
Tumblr media
What Pillowfort has new to offer is something called communities. They seem to function like miniature tags/forums. Maybe they have potential as like a pseudo group chat too.
Tumblr media
It took me a little bit to figure out how to get to my own page. There’s a link of your username in the top right corner but imo it was pretty inconspicuous. A user icon might be helpful or change it to “Account” instead.
No custom themes here. You can change the colors your blog uses like the default tumblr theme. Blog description lets you hyperlink text and you can add images and hyperlink those too. There’s tools to change the size of images in your bio but they don’t seem to work. I really don’t like my tumblr icon being a huge eyesore. No banner option if that’s important to you.
There’s no way to view posts that you’ve liked but what makes up for that is you can filter seeing only original posts vs reblogs which is a godsend.
No sideblogs either which I miss. You gotta up and make a whole new account for that.
Blog home pages don’t have a search bar so there is no way to search tags or keywords specific to them. If you only use your blog to reblog and post original art the original post filter mostly defeats this problem, but if you’re someone like me who likes to microblog, your art might get lost among text posts, photos and other non art orignal posts. Not to mention people who like to have tags for specific subcategorie like oc’s sand such will have a hard time making that easily accessible. So without the sideblog option, the tagging system needs to be more navigable. Otherwise you have to search the blog until you come across a post with the tag you’re looking for then click on it.
I have noticed that there’s a lack of suggested blogs or posts or any ads at all. As of now Pillowfort is a completely user curated experience. The cost is that it relies on user donations.
Overall I’m pleased and hopeful that it will continue to improve.

Gifts cannot be posted in your own LJ, DW, tumblr, AO3, or elsewhere until one week after they are revealed here.
All submissions have to be new and complete, everything else would be just plain rude. Find more rules about submitting your works here: [Submission Rules] If you're going to skim over any section of these rules, do not make it this one. Below you will find requirements for your submission according to what type of fanwork you'll be submitting. Please read your section carefully! Some are more detailed than others due to the unique nature of each fanwork.
All submissions must be stand alone pieces created specifically for this fest. You may not submit a part of a work-in-progress as your submission, nor can you include fic/art/graphics that you've already posted elsewhere.
Submitting Your Work
All submissions should emailed to qafgiftxchnge @ gmail.com by the due date (Dec 30th). You can also share fics via google drive if that is more convenient.
In the subject line of your email, please include 2019 GIFT, your screen name, gift for: [name]. This makes it so much easier for us to find and organize your work.
Please remember to copy, paste, and fill this out to include in your email along with your submission:
<b>TO:</b> <lj user="username"> <b>FROM:</b> <lj user="username"> <b>TITLE:</b> <b>GIFT REQUEST:</b> <b>NOTE:</b>
Adapt this to fit your needs, such as word count/length.
Please also ensure straight quotes are used when adding links and usernames for LJ!!
When submitting a fic:
Please be sure that it's been saved as an ".rtf", ".doc", or ".docx" format - or share it with me on google drive. Also, please include all html coding (bold, italic, underline) in your finished fic. If you're not familiar with html or don't know what the code is for a specific one, check it out here. I WILL be sending back fics that are not html coded as there have been some nightmares trying to break up posts for fics with giant character counts.
There is no maximum or minimum for the gift exchange, but the mods ask that you keep your plot bunnies in control. 100,000 word fics will probably make us cry because we scan each fic for glaring spelling/punctuation errors. If you exceed 8,000-9,000 words (please please don't), the mods will have to break your fic into parts due to LJ character restrictions, and we will need to know where you want those breaks to occur.
Multi-chaptered fics will still be accepted, but nothing will be posted until the fic in its entirety is received. So please don't get in over your head if you're not going to be able to finish it by the due date.
Please make sure that you spell all character names and places according to their canon spellings. Just ask if you're uncertain.
While having your fic beta read is not a requirement, it is always encouraged.
The mods reserve the right to ask you to correct any spelling, punctuation, or grammar issues before your fic is posted.
If you are using Word to prepare your manuscript, please make sure to turn off smart quotes! Tools >> AutoCorrect >> AutoFormat As You Type >> Uncheck "straight quotes with smart quotes"
Please ensure automatic spaces before and after paragraphs are not a part of the document. These spaces should be put in by you manually. This helps when the doc is pasted into the LJ/DW html editor.
If you have a banner header for the fic, please upload to your own graphic hosting location (ie LJ scrapbook) and only provide the link.
When submitting a fanart/graphics:
Please include your art/graphic as an attachment in the email. OR the links to where you're hosting them.
When submitting a fanmix:
Please include a link to your fanmix in the email.
Please include any information (artists, titles, featured lyrics) that you'd like to be included with your download link in the body of the email or in a text document.
When submitting a fanvid:
Please include a link to your fanmix in the email. Please post it 'secretly' to youtube or another video hosting site you use.
Please include any information (artists, titles, featured lyrics) that you'd like to be included with your download link in the body of the email or in a text document.
***If these formatting guidelines are not followed, you will be contacted and requested to make required changes.***
I will make every effort to match requests with talent. I will also make every effort to fulfill each request. However, if for some reason, your request cannot be fulfilled, I would hope that whatever is substituted will be accepted with gratitude and dignity and with the spirit in which is was intended.
Please feel free to pimp away...and beg all fans to come and participate. Questions? Ask away!
If you're a non-writer and non-graphic maker, leave a prompt in the ask box and artists/writers may choose to claim your prompt after other assignments are sent out! -no guarantees though!

Fanfic Author Meme
Tagged by @diligent-thunder and @rockmarina =)
Okay, so I’m me, and I talked way too much, so I’m putting this under a cut to save your dashes. You’re welcome 😘
Please do not reblog this post.
Author Name:
Fleetofshippyships + Knowyourincantations + Legendaryroar
Fandoms You Write For:
(in order of decreasing # of fics) Harry Potter, Voltron, Merlin, Yuri on Ice, Star Trek, Star Wars and then a few one-offs that aren’t really worth mentioning.
Where You Post:
AO3 primarily, Tumblr, trying to post more on Pillowfort, I also post on a couple of sites for knowyourincantations
Most Popular One-Shot:
Fleetofshippyships: Potter’s Insatiable Cock (Drarry, Explicit (duh XD), 20k (viewable only for logged-in AO3 users)).
Knowyourincantations: A Decent Start to Things (Pansmione, Teen, 7k)
Legendaryroar: Finding Time for Rest (Sheith (Voltron), Teen, 3k)
Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story:
RestraintNone of my old multi-chapter fics are available to read at this time and I don’t really write multi-chapter fics anymore.
If oneshot/drabble collections or two-shots count, then:
Fleetofshippyships: Vanilla and Sweet Spices (Drarry, Explicit, 2 chapters, 20k)
and this really doesn’t count, but technically it has multiple ‘chapters’ soooooooooo
Legendaryroar: Kinktober 2018 (Multiple ships (Voltron), Explicit (duh), 31 ‘chapters’, 26k)
Favourite Story You Wrote:
I don’t think I ever have a static favourite, I’ve just written too many things, I too quickly move on to the next (and frequently forget some of my own fics exist XD), but recently I re-read In Pursuit of Red Wine (Dreville, Teen, 29k) and really enjoyed that again, and I am really attached to it cos it was my first longish rarepair fic, kind of proving to myself that I can write longer rarepair stuff.
I also recently re-read Unburdened (Merthur (BBC Merlin), Explicit, 2k) and really enjoyed that too, had a total disconnect from having written it since it’s been so long, so I was able to read it without self-judging, and oh boy that was nice.
I’m also quite proud of Healing What’s Left (Parkgrass, Teen, 2k) for some reason, I dunno, maybe the dark political backdrop of the fic, or maybe just cos it’s the first time I’ve written Daphne as the main character and I’m happy with the result and now have some headcanons about her rather than her being an unknown blank character to me.
I also binge read a lot of my Voltron stuff recently and had big feels over that so....I also specifically enjoyed re-reading The Perks of Skincare (Klance (Voltron), Explicit, 3k) again cos I dunno, I like how I wrote Lance XD and also the Sheith fic I linked earlier is a fav for sure. Shiro/Rest is the ultimate OTP.
It really depends how soon after I write something or when I go back to re-read it as to what my fav is at any given time (or people commenting on it and hyping me up for it again).
Story You Were Nervous to Post:
Everything. But most recently I was terrified out of my mind before posting:
Friday Night by the Fire (Harry/Neville, Teen, 583 words) because I have a lot of fears about screwing up trying to write ace characters and somehow not even making that a focal point of the drabble made it even more terrifying,  No More Waiting (TianShan (19 Days), Teen, 2k) because it was a new fandom to write in, Harry Potter and the Maudlin Merman series (Drarry, Teen+ Mature, 3k +6k) due to my feelings of inadequacy because it would be better as long fic but I struggle too much with writing these days to write long fics and can only manage short things. I’d rather write this as a long fic, but then I’d never finish it so connected oneshots are the best I can do right now, but I still feel it’s not good enough and have a meltdown whenever I post one. And speaking of which, I’ve been sitting on the next one for months and should probably just fucking post it already.
Actually, most recently: Minding One’s Limits (Cho/Ginny, G rated, 1.5k), because I gave Cho a disability modeled off my fibromyalgia and wrote a scenario similar to something I’d dealt with myself, it was incredibly uncomfortable to write in the first place, and then terrifying to post, even though it’s so short. But in the end I’m proud I finally wrote about it a bit? I dunno, might take me a while to work up the nerve again though XD (also was my first time writing that ship, so there was a lot of nervousness over that too)
Oh, and I was a super ball of anxiety posting  Kinktober 2018 (Multiple ships, Explicit, 31 ‘chapters’, 26k) because for almost all of those it was the first time I was writing those kinks (and some were kind of squicks for me but I wanted to see if I could write them anyway cos I’m dumb like that) and in a lot of cases those ships were completely new for me to write too, in addition to trying to write and post 1 a day, so...yeah. Also that was my first time writing tentacle and human/werewolf smut so...yeah. I was an absolute mess that month and not in a fun way. But I’m still really glad I did it, it was fun =D
In summary, I’m always an anxious mess posting anything, but most especially if it’s something I’ve not written before or is personal to me XD
How Do You Choose Your Titles:
Most of the time I’m staring down the empty title field in AO3 cursing like a fucking sailor when I choose titles XD Sometimes it’s a line/theme/feeling from the fic. Sometimes it’s totally random and just comes to me. Sometimes I just grasp the first thing that I can no matter how stupid it sounds cos it’s been three days and I still don’t have a title and I’m over it and ready to post before I lose my nerve.
And tbh, it’s only getting harder to think of titles as my number of fics increases, and I’ve now started thinking of the perfect titles only to realise I already have a published fic by that title so....TITLES CAN DIE A FIERY DEATH
Sometimes, not so much anymore, it would turn out that I would give a wip doc a name just so I’d know what it was, sometimes as a joke with whoever was reading it and cheerleading while I wrote it, and then I would refer to it by that and think of it as that so much that when it came time to actually give the fic a title, it was too late and I could not think past that stupid file name, and that’s how Potter’s Insatiable Cock happened, and how I very nearly called a Merthur fic Arthur’s Wanking Tower (saved that one at the last moment thank god cos the tone of that fic is actually really serious and emotional and wtf was I even thinking with that file name and actually I linked to that fic above XD it ended up being called Unburdened).
Potter’s Insatiable Cock slipped through cos it’s actually relevant to the fic content and I could live with it.
But needless to say, I don’t give my wip docs joke names anymore XD
Do You Outline:
Only if I never want to actually write the idea...once I outline, it’s over. I can’t write to a detailed plan. It stifles me. I’ll always get stuck having to try and think ahead to the plan, and then I lose the flow and nothing works because I’m a pantser/intuitive/instinctive writer not a planner. Sometimes I jot down ideas but in like, the vaguest of ways, usually more focused on emotional development than actual scenes or events or anything because then I won’t be able to write it (and I rarely stick to those vague ideas anyway).
I can really only write when I’m staring down a blank doc with no idea where it’s going and discover it as I go (which is why writing is so fun for me). I can only finish a fic if I don’t think too hard about what’s going to happen next and just let it happen as I write.
This of course means that editing is a fucking bitch when I finish anything, beginnings often get totally re-written, but if I plan, it just doesn't happen at all, so I’ll take the extra editing if it means I manage to write something.
I do have a lot of detailed plotty fic idea outlines...and I mourn them cos I’m never going to write them now, but they’re so goooooooooood XD
Complete:
Online (across all 3 accounts): 381 (incl. my hidden drarry fics as they are technically online just hidden, not incl. individual oneshots/drabbles in collection ‘fics’, of which there are ridiculously many). Offline: 20 (I have the worst habit of just sitting on completed fics and I really need to stop)
In-Progress:
Too many to name, last time I counted it was ~60 but that wasn’t even including my vld wips so...I don’t actually know. I hoard wips and just switch up what I work on all the time depending on mood/interest levels/effort required.
Current main focuses are a 50k+ plotty Drarry (*fingerscrossed* cos this is my first time seriously attempting something long (will probably reach 80k at least) in a very long time and I put it down for a few months and thought that was it but then I picked it up again recently, yay!), and re-writing some hidden fics I can’t put them back up in the quality they’re in, I just can’t guys, they’re awful.
I’ve been thinking a lot about working on the longish 8th year Pansmione fic I started for the wlw big bang before I had to pull out of cos stupid life stuff. I might pick that up again for a bit too, couldn’t be more different from the Drarry one so it’d make a nice focus break =)
Coming Soon/Not Yet Started:
I don’t even plan fics I’m writing, I sure don’t plan ahead to stuff I haven’t even started XD The only think I can think of for this category would be me re-writing my hidden long Drarry fics.
Oh, and there will be a Merthur oneshot coming (hopefully) soon, because @april-thelightfury115 won my custom fic giveaway with a merthur idea. Just waiting for my brain to cooperate so I can start that and not suck XD but I’m so fucking excited to write some Merthur again, you have no idea.
Oh, and lots more Sapphic September drabbles coming too, I’m way behind and only just posted day 11 cos this month is literal hell for me, but I am still planning on finishing the prompt list, no matter how long it takes, but no plan for those, not even which ships, I just sit down with the next prompt and a blank doc and see what happens.
Do You Accept Prompts:
Yes, I love writing to prompts, I’m take them via google form here, but I’m in such a bad space with my health I’ve been really struggling with writing lately, managed to do a bit of editing (fuck knows how), but writing new stuff is so hard, so there’s a long wait while I wait for my fibro fog to ease off to the point I can write new stuff with more regularity (and less stupid errors I have to edit out later).
Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write:
Again, I so don’t plan. But I really want to be making more progress on the long plotty drarry wip I’m trying to write. I’m still not sure I’ll have the guts to post it even if I do finish it, given its subject matter (it would make a great careers or consent fest fic tbh), but damn I’m really excited by it. Not sure I can maintain it being plotty and not revert to focusing on the relationship (which is easier for me), but I can only try and see what happens. (trying to write a non-relationship plot without planning is a nightmare but I don’t have a choice if I want to write it at all XD)
I’m also now excited for my longish pansmione wip too actually, just because it’s already longer than my Dreville long-ish fic and it’s exciting and scary to do longer rarepair stuff. I’m way out of my comfort zone with the fic itself, but I dunno, I re-read some recently and fell in love with it all over again, like, flustered lesbian-awakening, disaster for Pansy (but sure she still hates her) Hermione? YES PLEASE! and also, I am guilty of not writing female characters as much as I should because, well, canonically, they don’t have much depth and I’m very meh about them, but in this there’s a huge focus on them because they’re all determined to band together for 8th year and Hermione is making friends with them (Parvati is like, dragging her along all the time XD) where she once dismissed them so it’s scary but exciting =D I’m getting more practice with all the sapphic I do over on knowyourincantations, so I feel more confident working on this wip now =D
I’m also kind of excited about re-writing my old long fics, because they’re all 3 years old now, and my writing tastes (and skill, yikes) have totally changed, so it’s like I’m writing the story again but how I would write it now while maintaining the overall same plot, so it’s really interesting, like discovering the story all over again. Like in one (Making Malfoy Blush) I’ve gone as far as introducing a new side character to replace another’s parts because I no longer feel those parts are in character for them. It’s super terrifying, but it’s fun at the same time =) it’ll take me forever to do these though, so I dunno about ‘upcoming’ really, I only chip away every now and then when I’m unable to write new stuff but am still coherent enough to do something.
Eh, it is what it is, I can’t write like I used to, hence me being inactive more than active these days, but I’m trying to work within my new limitations instead of getting frustrated with them and just giving up entirely =)
---
Now, who to tag....I think anyone I would tag has already done it, and if not..I blame the fog if I’m forgetting someone obvious, if you wanna do it just say I tagged you so I can be nosy and take a look =)
Again, please do not reblog this post

An apology, but a story.
Okay guys, sorry for uh, talking so much about Pillowfort lately. I do mean it when I say I’m still here to stay until Tumblr totally dies, and I know I’ve been posting a LOT of PF content, but I’m also trying to help tailor an environment over there where this fandom can thrive. Add in momma’s heart attack and coma and my dash has been a hot mess and bare bones of my usual content, and I apologize.
But at the same time I’d like to sort of tell a bit of a flashback story of social media, fandom, and why I really do hope the best for Pillowfort. Some people are too young to remember the slow death of Livejournal, and I’m having like, flashbacks from that. I wasn’t in SPN fandom itself at the time but I was on LJ, so if you’re
worried about your friends leaving
intent on sticking to tumblr hell or high water
kind of upset at some friends trying to manage both
Let me give a little bit of history to explain what people are doing right now and why.
Long long ago, in a digital world far away when the internet still screamed at you when you connected to it, fandom wasn’t really globalized like it is. Twitter didn’t exist. Eventually Facebook was a hot new commodity not everybody adopted immediately. Tumblr wasn’t a sparkle in anybody’s eye.
Fandom was mostly relegated to php forums and places like Livejournal. Livejournal proved to be -- at the time -- one of the best methods to engage in fandom. You could have your own journal, but you could also join communities with your account and comment on long discussions.
There were weaknesses of this to be sure. Notifications were pretty raw to nonexistent compared to how we know of them modernly. You had to basically manually check the comm to stay on top of things, and what was said in that comm was choked to that comm. Now, that had its strengths: you could control the community and posts, ergo minimizing flame wars, but it made fandom a bunch of pigeonhole wings and, to be honest, echo chambers. Lots of things got missed, overlooked, and what have you. And god help you if you pissed off a big name fan in your wing that owned one or most of the communities you went to. Replies and the ilk were pretty limited on what you could do, too. But it was something. It was more than just a standard forum. You could still try to cross-engage.
Then came the LJ Purge, which... is pretty much identical to the Tumblr purge. New rules banishing NSFW to the depths of the internet, some out of control censorship, targeting all LGBT content no matter how pure as NSFW and explicit -- you name it. They didn’t really have wildly out of control filterbots, that’s a new modern invention just to shit in our bin a little better, but you get the idea. What happened -- and is still, more quietly, now that the shock has passed -- to Tumblr is what happened to LJ. People lost mountains of work.
Now, LJ didn’t die overnight. It died over the course of a few years. Some people left fairly quickly, others tried to stay aboard. For example, Destiel fandom was fairly young at the point the LJ Purge kicked off, and were already sort of outsiders among the fandom newsletters that were more Gen or Wincest doused at that point because -- well, duh -- they had a several year running start on that platform. The communities, as above, were really regulated. There just wasn’t room to breathe. Sure, they had their own comms, but once material started vanishing, they were much more eager to, en masse, migrate to a new platform. And yes, some stayed behind longer, because people, even in shipland, aren’t a borg.
Other communities, like gen or Wincest, stayed behind longer. They had years of built up work and huge communities they were attached to there and it was a lot harder for them to let that all go. But it didn’t get better. More quietly, once the hysteria ended, people just lost their will to continue to use livejournal and they more dribbled across.
Some went to Dreamwidth back then. Some went to tumblr. Long term, tumblr worked for everybody until now. Dreamwidth was pretty much Livejournal, minus censorship, plus a few bells and whistles but it worked for a few people, but let’s face it -- that’s not where central fandom ended up.
Now, people are talking alternatives. Some are saying to go back to Dreamwidth. I refuse.
Because there’s a reason it wasn’t the most successful platform in the past and we’ll go back to completely segregated fandom like before and
because certain aspects of fandom that DID go to Dreamwidth and stay there, have still been there, and are a huge thorn in the side to almost anyone with their head screwed on straight, Destiel fandom or not. J2 tinhats are the eternal asscramps of the fandom and they’ve squatted on dreamwidth for their crazy ass tinhat page for years, god knows they probably went to adjacent communities, god knows how ingrained they are into it, and I am NOT willing to deal with that level of horse shit again.
Pornhub tried a grab, that didn’t work, as it shouldn’t, for a list of reasons as long as my arm; Mastodon was suggested, but has a huge issue in some of its other channels that people don’t want to float in the vicinity of.
And then there’s Pillowfort.
So look, Pillowfort is young, it is a smolbabe. In a few months it went from 4K users to 25K users and is growing innumerably by the day. Its servers are struggling. That turns some people off. I get that. But that isn’t permanent.
So first of all, early pioneers are what make migrations work. Just like LJ had its initial members, and then tumblr had its early migrators, places like Pillowfort can be the same. Dreamwidth already has its foundations. That’s redundant, and foundations I’m not even going to touch, much less the regressive, divisive form of communities that will segregate all of us again. It’s fine if you aren’t one of the first people to take up the platform. The people ahead of you will start laying down content and communities and, if it works out, you can join in when you’re ready.
So what makes Pillowfort so fucking special?
Okay, so check it out. On tumblr, we’re used to reblogging shit into the bowels of the internet. As Pillowfort grows it, too, has that capability with some differences.
The boldest difference is that when you reblog, your opinion doesn’t get attached to the end of the post. It just reblogs the base post. Some people initially complained and thought that was the loss of a feature but came to realize it’s a blessing.
You see, that means someone can’t kidnap your post with a shitty opinion to reblog it to their friends with a shitty opinion that all attach their heckling shitty opinions. Like, let’s say it’s someone that’s Destiel fandom reading this. Ever had an anti shit reblog your post and it run wild? Well, now, if they try to reblog it, all they reblog is... your Destiel post. Thanks for that.
So how do we actually say what we need to?
Well, fam, it incorporated elements from LJ/DW, in having threaded replies. Multiple threads if so needed. The threaded replies are capable of housing just about anything an OP has. So a blog post has, alongside Like/Reblog notifications, comments. Open the post, read the comments, start an actual conversation with some merit. Did some douchebag come to spam your comments since they can’t reblog? No problem, delete their shitty comments and block them, problem solved.
But it doesn’t end there.
See, like LJ, PF has communities. While your post can reblog just about anywhere just like on tumblr, you can blog or reblog them into the communities you follow. Anyone following that community, whether they follow you directly or not, gets that turning up in their feed, maximizing your spread. So sure, it’s a young platform and you only have 20 followers or whatever, but if you make a general Supernatural style post and blog it to the SPN com, 300 people (at current) see it. If you post something to the Destiel comm, over 200 people see it. It’s a way to even find new accounts and friends.
If you don’t like something that’s turning up in a community, you can blacklist shit. And/or find a more appropriate community if it gets out of hand to you.
When you make your own communities you can have internal discussions or blog in/out posts, you can set rules, promote moderators, remove or ban problem users, and generally control the flow of your community to keep out shitlords. But, if for example, you subscribed to a community that turns out to be secretly run BY a shitlord because, IDK, maybe they don’t like that you think Sam is bi or something, most of these communities are large and blog in/out/engageable enough that you won’t lose your contacts, you WILL find your people over time, and you won’t be completely choked off to a singular abyss.
So the base beat is
PF treats every single post like any root post on an LJ/DW comm, but is able to be reblogged from/to communities or your own blog page as freely as tumblr.  PF takes the best concepts of current and previous fandom platforms in its base application and lays a groundwork that literally all of us can prosper on if it survives and continues.
But that’s the catch.
And it’s cool if you aren’t ready to completely take that leap yet. I get that.
“I kinda like PF but it doesn’t have X feature-”
Okay look, PF is a smolbabe, like I said. It’s in beta. The thing is, they’re adding things every day. They have a dev list like 2 pages long for goals and things are getting crossed off and added like, biweekly. It might already be on their list to add. And if it’s not, guess what?
The staff actually give a shit and react to questions and concerns. There’s entire beta groups to talk about features with bugs, and/or features that should be added or adjusted. There’s a comm to talk directly to the staff about things.
A small, young platform needs people willing to be out there saying what would improve the experience. So if you go there, you’re not just fandom pioneers, you’re social media pioneers if you so choose to be. It’s not mandatory. You can just fan in your space how you want. Or you can go to the beta groups and staff groups and tell them what you think would improve the experience.
And again, it’s okay if you aren’t willing to move right now.
I’m not moving entirely. I’m double blogging, and will return to my regularly scheduled blogging on tumblr here soon, now that my life is calming down and I got most of my PF heavy lifting out of the way. But I want to make a nest in case this does pan out to be the next forward horizon, rather than taking a step back to something like Dreamwidth that segregates us all again. I want to help them build that platform.
But I’ll still be here with you guys.
But if you’ve felt like friends are abandoning you
Please try to understand the history, please understand what they’re doing and why they’re doing it, and just try to encourage them to cross blog where you can/will engage. And if you’re feeling daring one day? Try to poke your head into PF.
I have one remaining key that I’m willing to give a really good fandom creator. I gave one to a meta-mind and I’d like this to go to a heavy, inclusive gif creator, because that’s still a sparse art on PF. You’d be the belle of the ball just for crossposting your work, in a place that DOESN’T have a threat of it getting deleted when tumblr throws a hissyfit. Just post on both. Tada. Suddenly you’re the popular kid.
If you’re interested, if you poke your head in, check my recent post listing communities that are growing rapidly and the ilk to know where to get your feet wet. Or send me a DM. I’ll help.
We good? Cool.
