Continuing my review of what I got up to on Sporcle in 2023, here's the second of two quizzes I made and posted in January.

A Disaster, In Hindsight; an introduction to a class-based coop survival game

Welcome to... Some version of the future, a vision from the 80s with a grungy future based in CRTs and weird hypertech. In this future, the Rimward Logistics & Trading company (RLT) has been prospecting on a iceball hellhole of a world, with a strange history concerning other corporations, and various hotly contested elements of it, it’s the PERFECT spot for an outpost. Now the workers inside have to deal with the cold, whatever the hell is hiding in the ice, and their own coworkers. All hopefully to survive the workday with their paycheck intact, and with their necks unscathed (the cost of cloning is pretty high these days).

And so a take on an asymmetric social deduction that became a coop survival game with an asymmetric game layered on top of it! At it's base, it's a class-based (with classes being characters) survival game with randomized objectives and environments. It has a similar tone of L4D2 (a serious world with characters and situations that make light of it), and a traitor mode layered on top of it! If this works out, hooooopefully it's fun? Or at least inspiring for someone to make a better version lol- -Ξλ

Takut

Malam ini, mbak tertidur ketika menunggu bunda menidurkan adik. Sebenarnya adik sudah tidur dari tadi, tapi karena suara mbak yang sedang merdu merdunya, adik terbangun dan susah untuk tidur lagi. Bunda terus bilang ke mbak, "Jangan berisik mbak, adik mau bobok", di malam-malam sebelumnya alih-alih diam, mbak biasanya malah akan teriak lebih kencang. Tapi malam ini Alhamdulilah mbak bisa diajak bekerja sama. Ketika bunda mengayun lembut adik, mbak mengambil boneka lumba-lumba dan memeluknya sampai ketiduran. Selesai menidurkan adih, bunda mendekati mbak dan mengecup kening mbak. Rasa bersalah yang sering datang, kali ini datang lagi.

Bunda takut, bunda takut nanti tidak bisa bersikap adil.

Bunda takut, bisakah bunda terus mendampingi kalian belajar dan mengenal agama Allah?

Bunda takut nak, begitu banyak ketakutan yang bunda sembunyikan. Pertumbuhan dan perkembangan di 1000 HPK pun tak luput menjadi hal yang bunda takutkan.

Tapi, yang paling bunda takutkan, bunda takut tidak maksimal mendampingi kalian nak.

Yak, seperti yang bunda selalu bilang ke mbak ketika mbak bilang takut, "Ada Allah mbak," itu jadi kalimat jitu yang selalu membuat bunda sedikit merasa tenang.

PORT-AU-PRINCE (Reuters) -Haitian police on Wednesday opened fire on demonstrators demanding higher wages and killed a reporter, according to witnesses and a hospital official in the impoverished Caribbean island nation.

Two other journalists were shot and wounded at the scene in Port-au-Prince, where hundreds of Haitians gathered to call for a higher minimum wage than the one approved this week by the government of Prime Minister Ariel Henry.

A passing police vehicle fired at protesters, according to a Reuters witness and a union leader present. Dominique St Eloi, a union leader who was at the demonstration, said it was calm when police began shooting from the vehicle.

Haiti on Monday hiked the minimum wage by as much as 54% following weeks of demonstrations by garment workers who said their wages did not keep up with the rising cost of living.

The protesters on Wednesday were mostly from the garment sector, which exports finished products to U.S. retailers. Those workers received a 37% increase that took their wages to just under $7.50 a day - half what union leaders had demanded.

Lazzare Maxihen, who worked for Haitian media group Roi des Infos, succumbed to his wounds at a hospital on Wednesday, according to a hospital official who asked not to be identified.

The prime minister later condemned the "brutal acts" and pledged to protect peaceful demonstrations. "The government reiterates the responsibility of public authorities to ensure order and security," Henry wrote on Twitter.

It was not immediately evident why police fired. A spokesman for Haiti's National Police did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

The Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH), the country's main manufacturing trade group, announced the closure on Thursday of clothing factories at an industrial park near where shooting took place.

The group condemned the shooting and said the closure was intended "to protect their workers and their equipment."
