4 extra dads!
I had an idea, where during a demon hunt. Dante returns to the office with 4 other dantes. how?
A demon made Dante's soul split into 5 parts. Interestingly, each Dante is an important moment in his life.
How would each Dante react to learning that they have a child?

debunking lies zutara shippers say about the atla creators & writers
disclaimer: this is in no way an endorsement or defense of bryke or anyone mentioned. literally just debunking false statements i see spread throughout and outside the fandom as it pertains to kataang
1. that bryke made kataang endgame because the nice guy should get the girl
this is something I see often usually linked with this video of a man ⬇️ who they claim to be bryan/mike echoing this sentiment.
this man is in fact john o’bryan, one of the three known zk shippers in the writers’ room (we’ll expand on this in point 5) talking about how he saw aang. not the creators. so of course it shouldn’t surprise anyone that he doesn’t even like kataang in the first place.
Tumblr media
2. that bryke made kataang endgame last minute and zutara was the original pairing
bryan and mike (notice how i’m using both of their names separately. this too will be important in the next point) have talked about how kataang was planned since they originally wrote the show.
Tumblr media
they have also talked ad nauseam in a video (which I will not share here cuz it made a lot of ppl angry) about why they do not like zutara and its shippers, so this entire point is bogus.
++ the reason why they say zk was the original pairing is because of one of the zk writers (joshua hamilton) wrote this in the atla fun facts that used to run on tv. (we’ll get into him later) those atla fun facts contain a lot of inaccurate/non canon “facts” which you can check and verify on avatar wiki if you know what i’m talking about.
3. that aang is bryke’s self insert (specifically mike)
Tumblr media
yeah, here’s where the separation becomes important. bryan (L) and mike (R) are two different men. mike has never said that aang was his self-insert, nor has he directly talked about relating to aang. bryan, however, constantly talks about how much he relates to zuko. even, going as far to say he tries to think like zuko when he writes characters and shows.
Tumblr media
the only time mike has come close to saying he relates to aang is when dante said he thinks mike is more like aang while bryan is more like zuko, and they, mostly bryan, agreed. (mike has actually said he relates to korra more than aang but hey) bryan also is the one who drew mike’s beard on adult aang because he considered it a nice reference to his friend. this is the main reason why shippers ran with that self-insert narrative because half the time, they think bryke is actually one person ☠️
++ in fact, aang’s original character design is based off the mixed black-chinese son of sifu kisu
Tumblr media
4. that atla was supposed to have a season 4 where katara and zuko got together
this is mostly something that has come out of a fabricated interview by the head writer, aaron ehasz. he was allegedly asked what he would have liked to do if given the chance to write a fourth season of the show and talked about an azula redemption arc among other things. zutaras then made up a whole fake interview including that he wanted to make the two characters endgame.
ehasz then came out to say that most of these “interviews” were faked and that he has never talked about having a preference for any ship. if you go on his twitter, you will see him talking about an azula redemption arc tho.
as for atla having a 4th season at all, it was never intended. the creators, the music composers have all said at various points in time, the show was written and pitched as three seasons, three elements.
Tumblr media
5. that most of the other writers shipped zutara and bryke’s authoritarianism shut it down
as I said above, only three writers on the original show have come out to say they preferred zk at some point. atla has had a total of 21 staff writers. 3 out of 21 is not most if you ask me.
as for bryke (yes now i’m using the shorthand cuz i proved my point earlier) being authoritarians, no writer or staff that has worked with them on the show has said this so…? idk where that came from but i’m not here to back them up just mention facts.
6. that all the women who worked on the franchise shipped zutara while only men shipped kataang
atla has very few female staff as it is:
5 writers (elizabeth welch: zk; others: unknown)
1 director (unknown)
5 storyboard/character artists (lauren montgomery: ka; elsa garagarza: ka; angela song mueller: zk; others: unknown)
1 comic writer (faith erin hicks: ka)
2 comic artists (gurihiru: ka)
++ mae whitman (katara’s voice actress) has expressed her like for both ships throughout the years.
so i’m not sure what defines all and only for some ppl but those definitions are not in my dictionary. disclaimer: i’m not declaring anyone here as a shipper in any official sense. this is just based off statements they have made that you can google!
7. that katara is written poorly in post-atla content because of kataang/bryke
I mean the first part isn’t really a lie, more of an opinion which I can agree with to an extent.
why I mention this here is because zks will not only go on a tangent and link the misogyny in the writing to a m/f ship and say the other m/f ship would have been more feminist…
but they also refuse to hold all the men involved accountable. like I said, 3 known atla writers shipped zk and 2 of them (joshua & john) were men (who would’ve thought men could like a ship and it could still be considered feminist 😃). they were also 2 out of only 4 atla writers that came back for legend of korra, outside of the creators. (19 to 4 ☠️ no comment). these shippers very well know this and instead of holding these men accountable for the misogynistic writing, they instead brag about them shipping it and ask them about zk whenever they have the chance.
another example is gene luen yang, a comic writer who again shipped zk (another man GASPPPPP) responsible for the first 5 comic books. everyone knows his comics suck in terms of characterization, particularly katara’s. in fact zutaras have made multiple threads on how poor the writing is. funnily enough, they always fail to mention that gly was the script writer or acknowledge his part in this mischaracterization, while bragging about him shipping zk in other posts. ironic.
meanwhile, bryke have never offered writers’ commentary on any of gly’s comics besides the search - mike (because they were mostly writing legend of korra during his run.)
basically these shippers don’t care about misogyny or holding male writers accountable if they ship zk which is funny because I thought it was… for the female gaze? why are you hyping men shipping it anyway? confusion.

10 of my Favourite Horror (Adjacent) Movies and Why You Should Watch Them
(Not in any particular order or subgenre. TW are super vague, spoiler-free, and from my memory, but I would recommend looking up more specific ones before watching any of these if you are easily triggered. Not all triggers are listed because these are horror movies, so stuff like death and murder is to be expected.)
Let me know if y’all want a part 2, because I’ve got about 7 more! (It could have been one post if Tumblr didn’t limit my images to 10)
1. Parasite
Tumblr media
A struggling lower class family slowly integrates itself into the household of a rich family without their knowledge.
Most of you have already seen this one, or been told to watch it. I am no different: this movie is popular for a very good reason. Divided into 3 clear acts, starting with comedy, and making its way through drama into horror. Also, great commentary on classism, very psychological at times and makes you wonder who you should really be rooting for.
Scary: 2/10
Gore: 3/10
Disturbing: 5/10
Psychological: 6/10
Actual genre: Dark comedy thriller
2. The House That Jack Built
Tumblr media
Serial killer Jack recounts some of his most influential murders.
A bit infamous and controversial for being very messed up, but still really good. Highly psychological, with a lot of narration and use of metaphor. Especially fun if you have any knowledge of Dante’s Inferno. Definitely not one to watch if you want a protagonist to root for.
Scary: 3/10
Gore: 6/10
Disturbing: 10/10
Psychological: 8/10
Actual Genre: psychological horror art
TW: sexism, corpse mutilation
3. Creep (1&2)
Tumblr media
A man is hired to help film messages from a dying man to his son.
I’m usually not a fan of found-footage, but there’s something special about Creep. On top of that, this is one of the few movies where I can confidently say I like the sequel more, which is shocking because the first one was amazing. Very funny and off-beat, with a sense of foreboding underlying the whole thing.
Scary: 3/10
Gore: 1/10
Disturbing: 3/10
Psychological: 4/10
Actual genre: found footage psychological horror
4. Mother!
Tumblr media
A woman and her poet husband live quietly in a secluded house away from society.
Very metaphorical and highly feminist; definitely not a movie that everyone appreciates, but if you enjoy analysis or just being really weirded out then this is a good for you. Starts slow and snowballs toward the horrific climax.
Scary: 3/10
Gore: 7/10
Disturbing: 7/10
Psychological: 8/10
Actual genre: psychological horror
TW: cannibalism
5. Perfect Blue
Tumblr media
Mima is a young pop star looking to join the acting industry.
Brutally realistic to the point where I had to stop watching and take a walk at one point. Very much “female rage” and a protagonist that will live in your head rent free for the next 6 years (or maybe that’s just me). Very triggering in a lot of ways, but worth it if you’re not sensitive to the topics it covers.
Scary: 5/10
Gore: 4/10 (animated)
Disturbing: 8/10
Psychological: 10/10
Actual genre: psychological thriller
TW: depersonalization/derealization, nudity, stalking, rape scene (she is acting in a tv show but it is still the most uncomfortable scene of the movie), inaccurate portrayal of DID
6. Midsommar
Tumblr media
A couple and their friends go on a vacation to their friend’s remote hometown for a Midsommar festival.
Probably the best-known out of this list, and again for a good reason. 90% of the film takes place in broad daylight, and the visuals are absolutely gorgeous. Once again will bring up the question of who is in the right and who is in the wrong (I have the answer to this question and I will fight you in dms if you’d like).
Scary: 3/10
Gore: 8/10
Disturbing: 8/10
Psychological: 7/10
Actual genre: folk horror
TW: long and graphic sex scene, nudity, close up and graphic gore, cult stuff, suicide
7. The Call
Tumblr media
A woman moves back to her childhood home and receives a call from the woman who lived there 30 years prior.
I got really into modern Asian horror films a few months ago and this is one of my favourites. The dynamic between the protagonist and antagonist is one of my favourites, and finishing this movie felt like finishing a 3 season TV show because of how well paced it was. Really hoping there will be a sequel with the same concept, even if it is not likely.
Scary: 6/10
Gore: 3/10
Disturbing: 6/10
Psychological: 6/10
Actual genre: psychological thriller
TW: abuse
8. Incantation
Tumblr media
A cursed woman takes back custody of her young daughter and does everything she can to keep away the effects of her curse.
This one was popular on TikTok for a while, and for good reason. Another found footage in a more traditional sense, and a bit confusing at times, but overall a really solid scary story. Very cool effects as well.
Scary: 6/10
Gore: 4/10
Disturbing: 6/10
Psychological: 5/10
Actual genre: supernatural horror
TW: derealization
9. Pearl
Tumblr media
A farm girl dreams about leaving home and living as a show girl.
Mia Goth is a national treasure, but we all knew that already. I watched this one before X (the actual first movie) because I didn’t know they were connected, but I much preferred this one. The Wizard of Oz vibes combined with Pearl’s unsettling behaviour made is a really creep film to watch.
Scary: 4/10
Gore: 4/10
Disturbing: 6/10
Psychological: 5/10
Actual genre: horror
TW: porn
10. The Platform
Tumblr media
A man is stuck in a prison where a platform of food is lowered through the layers of cells for inmates to eat as they please.
I’m a sucker for psychological movies that take place in a very limited space. If you’ve ever played and enjoyed the game Presentable Liberty then I’m gonna go ahead and say you’ll like this too. Not every question is answered, but the film is more about the human condition than the prison they inhabit, so it’s not too much of a problem.
Scary: 2/10
Gore: 9/10
Disturbing: 8/10
Psychological: 9/10
Actual genre: social science fiction horror
TW: cannibalism, suicide

Ultimate Incest Tournament - Round 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Norma and Norman Bates sculpture by artist "Rainman," titled Murderer
Propaganda under the cut:
Dante/Vergil:
The entire game is about how the power of twincest and a little gratuitous dadson/unclenephew can overcome the cycle of generational trauma
They are half-human half-demon twins who got split up when they were 8. Dante is the more normal one although he is mega depressed and doesn't like being around full human people. Vergil is kind of the evil twin although he is not that evil
They meet again when they are 19 and fight a few times and generally seem like they don't like each other (at one point Dante says "how about a kiss from your little brother" before pulling out a gun) but later on they team up and act like the brothers they once were
Vergil jumps into the demon world (and it's implied that it's a kind of suicide attempt, I think) and stops Dante from reaching for him. Dante is very emo about this and basically considers Vergil dead. He then names his devil hunting business Devil May Cry after how he cried because of Vergil
10 years later Dante comes across a brainwashed Vergil and kills him, not recognizing that it was Vergil until he is dead and gone. Dante is very emo about this
Like 10 years after this Dante comes across Vergil's accidental kid and acts like a distant enigmatic uncle toward him. Like 5 years after that, Vergil is back and splits himself in half, and when one half tells Dante that the evil demon they need to stop is Vergil's other half, Dante gets super pissed at him because he thinks he's lying and doesn't like people using Vergil's name in vain, I guess.
Eventually, both halves of Vergil recombine and he and Dante fight again but Vergil's son tells them to stop doing that and they're just like "okay".
Then a portal is opening to the demon world so someone has to go there and stop it but they'll be trapped there. Both Vergil and Dante go. Vergil tells Dante he doesn't need his help and that he can leave but Dante is like "no 🥰". We see them fighting in hell (in a friendly way) and fighting other demons together, just generally having a good time. Currently, they are still trapped there.
TLDR: Dante is very depressed when it comes to Vergil because he's lost him like 3 times and just wants Vergil to be alive and with him. At the end of the last game, Dante is super genuinely happy with Vergil in the demon world. We see less of Vergil's side of things, but he loves and hates Dante because he feels inferior to him (for mommy issue reasons). Vergil only smiles around Dante and honestly likes fighting him for fun. There's a lot more I could say but this is already so long so... They are complicated but they love each other <3
Norma/Norman:
The weirdest, most charming mother/son duo ever. Bates Motel took an interesting story and turned it into something greater, exploring Norma and Norman's relationship with sincere sympathy. Their love for each other is beautiful, but destructive; their intimacy was born out of necessity and shared pain; the world won't leave them alone. It's awful to witness. It's beautiful and heartbreaking.
i mean COME ON. Norma is constantly upset that Norman expresses interest in other women. She hid her husband from Norman because she knew Norman would throw a hissy fit over them being together (which he did)
He tried to commit murder-suicide so they could die together and when he survived he taxidermied her corpse so they could be together forever
Norman “It’s like there’s a cord between us” x Norma “Honey that’s - that’s from Jane Eyre” are everything to me. I’m barely scratching the surface in doing justice to their insanity. They mean everything to each other and I love their fucked-up codependency so dearly.
After he killed her he couldn't live without her so literally absorbed her personality and started wearing her clothes and speaking for her and carrying her corpse around and when a woman he was attracted to showed up at the hotel he killed her as his mother bc of his mother's jealousy??

Here are some amazing bottom Louis fics posted or completed during the month of August. We really hope you enjoy this list and that you give these fics a lot of love. Happy reading!
1) Untamed Desire | Explicit | 1333 words
Note: This fic is locked and can only be read by AO3 users.
Harry isn‘t happy with the new securities work etiquette.
2) Bet On It | Explicit | 2945 words
Note: The main pairing in this fic is Louis/OMC.
“We should make a bet,” Louis says out loud, waiting for Dante to look up from his tablet and see Louis’ pouty lips. “Not a fucking chance.”
3) The Best Of Friends | Not Rated | 3226 words
This is mostly just narrative. So if that's not for you...well too bad. Oh, and top!Harry Bottom! Louis. So fucking long.....
4) Broken Nest | Mature | 3858 words
Louis hopes no one touches his nest, and when someone does, Harry is there to save him.
5) We Didn't Get It Right But, Love, We Did Our Best | General Audiences | 4965 words
“I can't be arsed to call Harry, it’s his fault” He said, a petulant huff to his tone that would have had Oli smirking to himself on a normal day. “This only happened because I was climbing on the counter to get the bath stuff he keeps where only his obnoxiously long arms can reach.” And really, Louis deserved the feeling that almost winded him when he went to show how he’d had to stretch. The sudden movement felt like ripping a hole through Louis’ skin, and if that hadn’t shut the omega up the genuine fear on his best friend’s face finally did. Damn karma, damn his stupid little animated hands.
6) Snow Storm Rut | Mature | 5560 words
Request: So basically Harry, Louis, Liam, Zayn, and Niall were chilling at a picnic until it started snowing so they all went home. Louis was driving with Harry when they got a text that the storm was so heavy they needed to put the car next to the road. Suddenly, Harry felt his rut coming and needed an omega.
7) Wildest Dreams | Teen & Up | 17383 words
When Harry saw Louis at the Met Gala, it was love at first sight. Except for the fact that Louis has a boyfriend. Louis is head over heels for his beloved boyfriend, he’s sure they are gonna marry one day. But will Harry change all of that?
8) Only the Brave | Not Rated | 20032 words
He can do this. That’s the phrase Louis’ repeating nonstop, like a mantra that will help keep him upright and fighting. He can do this. He has to believe he can do this, or he’ll drop to the floor, exhausted, dead, or whatever, and he refuses to make his efforts go to waste like that. He’s a warrior, he has what it takes to help defeat the enemy. He just needs to make it to the City, and he’ll be fine.
9) Science & Faith | Mature | 36442 words
Louis Tomlinson is a science major who's dedicated his life to proving that love doesn't actually exist. Harry's the philosophy major determined to prove him wrong.
10) I Would Rather Go Blind | Mature | 67788 words
"I would rather go blind" is a heartfelt coming-of-age story set in 1960s England, where societal expectations clash with personal identity, and a young man named Henry embarks on a transformative journey at Oxford University. Harry Styles, the son of a renowned lawyer from a traditional and affluent family, steps onto the prestigious grounds of Oxford with a mix of anticipation and trepidation. Caught between the weight of his family's expectations and his own desire for self-discovery, Harry seeks solace and understanding amidst the bustling student life. It is in this unfamiliar world that Harry crosses paths with Louis Tomlinson, an enigmatic and free-spirited fellow student. Louis possesses an intriguing blend of charisma, wit, and fearlessness that captivates Harry from the moment they meet. Drawn to Louis's magnetic personality, Harry finds himself irresistibly pulled into a realm of adventure, rebellion, and a newfound sense of liberation. Set against the backdrop of a transformative era for LGBTQ+ rights, "I would rather go blind" explores the struggles, triumphs, and personal growth of a young man grappling with his sexual identity in a time of societal conservatism.
12) Save Me (From Myself) | Explicit | 159327 words
The problem with being friends with Liam Payne was that he had a lot of friends... and forced them to be around each other. When they finished high school, both Louis and Harry were equally relieved that they wouldn't have to tolerate each other constantly or whatever it was that they did. For five years, it worked out perfectly. They'd only had to see each other a handful of times. Unfortunately, Liam had to go and get engaged, ask them to both be groomsmen, and then go full groomzilla on their arses. With just twelve weeks to plan the 'perfect' destination wedding and throw every ridiculous pre-wedding celebration Liam and his fiancée stumble across, it was safe to say they were firmly back in each other's lives. And no one could have predicted that was exactly what they needed.

Is DMC5 a good entry point for a complete beginner?
Story-wise perhaps not. 5 references the entire series from 1-4 and even the anime and some books, but if you don't mind being lost (5's story is real simple anyway) then in terms of gameplay DMC5 is the easiest place for a complete beginner to start.
In 1 and 3, Easy mode had to be unlocked by getting the crap beaten out of you (DMC2 is so poorly balanced the entire game is extremely easy mode), and only in easy mode can you get autocombo (where simply mashing the attack button will make you do combos rather than needing to train yourself into doing the inputs and proper timing). In 5 however, you can start with Human (easy) mode from the start, and autocombo mode is simply a matter of holding down R3 on your controller, meaning you can swap in and out of autocombo whenever you like, an improvement on DMC4's auto combo where you had to pre-select it before starting a mission.
Another thing people don't talk about when it comes to DMC5 as an entry-point is that it also has the most fair enemies in the series. The past games (DMC3 especially) have some excruciatingly punishing enemy designs that can feel incredibly uninteractive if you don't know what you're doing. 5's roster of enemies have verystraightforward rules, with the weirdest enemies probably already being the Hell Judecca and the Furies. If you don't know what you're doing, you can absolutely go through the whole game by just beating faces in.
(This has led to statements from people that 5's enemies are all punching bags without any strategy involved, but enemy behaviors are actually greatly varied too and if you want to actually score big on Dante Must Die you still need to study them, they're just made so that new players can actually fight them without getting frustrated)
The one caveat I'll give for DMC5 as a new player's first DMC game is Dante himself. You get to play Nero and V for the first half of DMC5, because when you finally unlock Dante, Dante's upgraded so many times in the past that by the end of 5 he's got the following:
4 styles that change his controls
4 melee weapons (7 after beating Son of Sparda mode), 4 range weapons, and 1 of the melee weapons swaps between two modes
Devil Trigger (a super mode)
A second Devil Trigger (an even stronger, separate super mode with unique attacks)
Dante's so hilariously complicated (and overpowered, once you get good) that even some experienced DMC5 players tend to shy away from fully exploring Dante beyond a couple style mechanics and their favorite weapons, but if infinite depth you can spend forever with and still keep learning new tricks hundreds of hours later is your kinda thing, then you'll have a lot of fun (and will also like Dante in DMC4 who is even harder there)
______ If all this text intimidates you, I promise Devil May Cry is actually a welcoming series to get into. The games offer you multiple difficulty levels and plenty of tools and get out of jail free cards likes orbs to revive you or a couple incredibly overpowered mechanics that you can spam to cheese your way through fights. making sure that the skill floor is accessible. Difficulty is something you challenge yourself with, not imposed on you as a requirement to pass.
But if you DO chase that ridiculous skill ceiling, then the likes of S-ranking DMC3's final bossfight on Dante Must Die will make even Sekiro look simple. The games won't kick your ass until you ask them to, but when you do then prepare for a beating like little else can give you.
Oh and one last thing: Playing as Vergil does in fact, feel that cool.

YOU: season 5
Spoilies for seasons 1-4 below:
Okay so they’ve said that people from Joe’s past will come back to haunt him and possibly bring him to justice. So, I’ve been thinking about who could be part of this group of people who’d want to take Joe down.
Blythe and Ethan would probably not have anything to do with it. Blythe sent Beck’s book to her agent and got it published. Neither she nor Ethan have anything against Joe because they don’t know that he’s a murderer. Paco and his mom also have no reason to go after Joe; he helped them. No one from season 1 knows that Joe is the one who killed Beck- except for Dr. Nicky. But Dr. Nicky found God in prison and has no urge to take Joe down (he says so in season 2).
As far as loose ends from season 2, Ellie is the obvious one. Her sister is dead because of Joe. Joe ruined her life and she’s definitely never forgiven him.
Season 3 has more loose ends than others. There’s Sherry and Cary, and Matthew and Theo Engler. Sherry and Cary were literally trapped in the cage by Love and Joe and Cary almost died. Love killed Matthew’s wife, Natalie, and severely injured Theo. Matthew was on to Love and Joe, too. He was very suspicious of them. You could even consider Dante a loose end because he’s the one who ended up taking care of Joe’s son, Theo.
As far as season 4 goes, Marienne and Nadia are the big loose ends. Joe abducted Marienne and trapped her in the cage for a long time and only got away due to the combined cleverness of herself and Nadia. Nadia is framed for Eddie’s murder at the end of the season, and she goes to prison. But she knows what Joe did to Marienne and the others; she knows who he is.
I’d love to see as many of these people as possible come together to take Joe down. I know Jenna Ortega (Ellie) is booked and busy as hell, but I really hope she comes back. An Avengers-esque team up of all the people Joe has wronged would make me so incredibly happy.

I think that if any DMC game is adapted into a musical it should be DMC 3, my second choice being 5, third being 4, fourth being 1, last being 2.
You're absolutely correct. Ideally all of them would have a musical adaptation, but this would be my priority preference as well.
DMC3- the brother vs brother, the Arkham vs Jester. Both great opportunities for harmonies, leitmotifs, and reprisals. Plus it's the fandom favorite, so it's the obvious choice.
And can you imagine this being put into song? (chefs kiss)
Dante: We are the sons of Sparda, and within each of us flows his blood, but more importantly, his SOUL! And now, my soul is saying that it wants to stop you! Vergil:(evil laugh) Unfortunately, our souls are at odds, brother. I need more power!
DMC5- also a great choice, especially with the nonlinear storytelling. And having the characters sing songs that reference their battle themes? Oh that'd be so good. And seeing a stage actor portray crusty Vergil, Urizen, and Complete Vergil would be a real treat! Also seeing how they'd do Griffon, Shadow, and Nightmare. Perhaps puppet type performances for the two smaller familiars, and a projection of Nightmare's silhouette for a really intense V battle?
Dante's dance could turn into a whole song and dance number, and they could get really creative with Nico and her van!
ALSO WE COULD HAVE KYRIE
DMC4- the fourth game is weak in some aspects, but it absolutely has an aesthetic. I feel like plays have certain background elements that are permanent, and the architecture of Fortuna with stained glass and religious themes would be great for this. Could be a great opportunity to incorporate some of the 4Novel. (Dante trying on hats scene!!!)
Opening the show with Kyrie's performance with us as the audience in the Sparda Church would be really great! I think Credo could have a really great song as well.
DMC1- Honestly I think you could make a great musical out of this one too! The moodiness of the setting and the drama of the story could make for a great performance. Especially the Nelo Angelo fights! They could really punch us in the gut with the great tragedy of Dante killing Vergil. The mystery, betrayal, and redemption of Trish as well!
DMC2- it's The Room With The Pattern and that's it /j

"Son Of Nyx" / "Inferno" theory !!
Although the title of "Son Of Nyx" is already very fitting for circle six (Heresy - a belief opposed to mainly christian beliefs) with Hozier calling (i assume) himself the son of the goddess of night, whereas God is the giver of light, I do have another theory in terms of "Inferno" itself.
Before Dante gets to circle six, he is stuck outside the gates of the City of Dis (a walled-off area of Inferno separating circles 1-5 from 6-9). There is a long section where, as Virgil (his guide) attempts to calm him, Dante stews in a fear that he may never be able to leave Hell. After panicking, he feels a presence and looks to see an angel approaching to open the gates of the City for Dante and Virgil so they can continue their journey.
This part of "Inferno" feels very represented in "Son of Nyx", with the first half of the song being melancholic piano and then growing into a full orchestra in the second half. It mirrors the appearance of the angel.
I think this is also representative of the narrative of the album as a whole:
We know that the album is a walk through of a breakup told in terms of the circles of Hell. We also know that "Son Of Nyx" is the crossover song to the second and darker half of the album where the relationship seems to completely fall apart.
Hozier compares the relationship itself to Inferno, calling it dark (the main theme and aspect of Inferno) many times. The last song on the album mirrors Dante and Virgil leaving Inferno, as Hozier himself confirms the relationship is over ("And I am never going back again.") Hozier seems describe leaving Inferno, therefore leaving this relationship, as painful but also a relief. (Feeling the light again, "one bright morning comes", but knowing it also means the darkness, his relationship, is gone.)
How this links into "Son Of Nyx" is that, despite the appearance of the angel in the City of Dis, Dante feels as though all divinity is lost throughout Inferno. In fact, the angel at this mid-point of Inferno is the only thing from Heaven to enter Inferno whilst Dante is there. It is the only light he gets whilst being down there, since Inferno is notably dark and black.
Since "Son Of Nyx" leads us into the final breaking of the relationship Hozier is singing about, I think we can see the second half of the song (the reference to the angel) as, although being incredibly pained by the ending of this relationship (as shown in the first half of the instrumental), Hozier also sees it as a hope to move onto something lighter - the same way Dante's confidence and hope is reinstalled by the angel.
Just a theory and a guess since I think "Son Of Nyx" is obviously one of the more vague songs on the album. Y'know, having no words except "who we are" and "she always wins" so... yes! I hope my vigorous readings of "Inferno" might help us understand the song a little more lmao

Thoughts/HCs about Nero no one asked for
Ok so first off, I wanna touch up on how I thought of a lot of this after reading a shit ton of Dadgil stuff cuz I would die for Vergil raising Nero and being a dad even with Nero being in his 20s. Both versions are good. Anyway. This also came to mind after reading a bit about Fortuna and what kind of city it is other than the base of it being a Sparda worshipping community and from what we know of how Nero was treated growing up. So I’m gonna go on and hop in and spew my thoughts.
1. Since Fortuna is said to be based off a city in Italy, it gives the impression that the people possibly speak Italian. So with that yes I can see Nero knowing Italian and cussing out his uncle and dad whenever.
2. With him being neglected thanks to the orphanage, think of the many things he doesn’t know how to do and how underdeveloped a lot of things he should’ve been taught.
3. He probably doesn’t know how to read properly. Or speak well in that matter so it’s why he picks up a lot of fowl language from everyone around him.
4. Though it’s said that Red Queen was created to be a new way to fight against demons, the fact it was given to Nero and how well he cares for the sword goes to show he wasn’t given a lot of things growing up. So maybe it’s why he’s so well versed in how to sharpen the sword and modify the rev of it with proficiency.
5. SOCIAL SKILLS!!!! The poor kid grew up being bullied for peats sake. Being told his mother was a prostitute and/or for whatever other reasons. I like to personally think another factor could be his white hair since by looks alone, brown hair is highly dominant and him being born with white hair might be seen as a bad omen. So being bullied made him very antisocial as it states within his lore.
6. Even though Credo’s and Kyrie’s parents took him in, they probably never really cared for Nero like they did for their children and kept him at arms length. That sort of treatment is why he’s awkward with trying to accept Vergil being his dad, just as much as Vergil is having a difficult time accepting Nero as his son. Dante probably was one of the few positives in Nero’s life since they ended up respecting each other. Dante knew how to handle him because of his Devil Bringer and how Yamato reacted so powerfully to Nero’s presence, so yes I am also a firm believer of Dante being a rare person Nero could go to just like with Kyrie. Zio Dante for the win.
7. With how he grew up and in the events of DMC4, think of the amount of times Nero displayed a lot of similar habits to Vergil that made Dante do a double take. Especially after getting Yamato. From the cold glare, the way he pushes his hair back that really makes him look like a Vergil Jr., the quips he would made when talking back that have an edge to them. And then think of his first interaction with Trish/Gloria on how silent he was and calculating her every move while knowing for 100% that there’s no way she’s apart of The Order.
And I can’t think much of other things about Nero now. I think I exhausted what power my writing brain had. Thanks writers block for making me feel unmotivated. Anyway. Hopefully y’all enjoy this cuz brain was a buzzin with a lot of these revelations of mine.

Top 5 non-Black Bull characters
put “top 5” anything in my ask and i will answer
I don't have a firm top five, but the first five who come in mind are:
1. Theresa - to quote a twitter trend: "she's so insane, and it's an old lady dealing with her nonbiological, wayward son"
2. Yuno - I like him, I really do, but I just don't like what tabata did with him when he put him in a squad unfit for him, the black bulls are right there and they're the family he should belong to.
3. Mars - criminally underrated, criminally underused, there's no love for my man mars both in canon and fanon and this always made me sad.
4. Rhya - he's so me I vibe with him.
5. Witch Queen - she's a baddie ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
other non-black bulls characters I like: licita, father orsi, patry, dante, leo, rades, sally, rill, dorothy, jack

DMC Devil May Cry Review From the Perspective of a New DMC Fan (Spoilers!)
First, a TL:DR of Devil May Cry as a series. Devil May Cry is a Capcom franchise that falls under the Hack-and-Slash category and the story follows Dante, the young son of Sparda, who hunts demons for a living in Redgrave. Ninja Theory, the same people who made Heavenly Sword made an attempt at a reboot with Capcom and the reboot game was hated by a lot of DMC fans.
But do I think it deserved the hate? No, not really, it’s not too bad of a game to me, and it has its flaws which I will get into. The rest of this review will further explain my opinions. Also, right off the bat, my personal renaming of “DMC Devil May Cry” is “Nephilim Rage,” Reboot Dante is “Damien” and Reboot Vergil is “Victor,” because this game could’ve benefitted from having its own separate IP rather than the Devil May Cry IP slapped onto it despite the characters, lore and storyline being incredibly different, but from Ninja Theory’s perspective, I can understand why they did what they did.
Tumblr media
Storyline (1/5):
Starting with the weakest part of this game, the intro to “Nephilim Rage” has Damien going to a strip club and banging two strippers. Interesting start.
Then a girl named Kat knocks at Damien’s trailer door telling him he’s in danger. He then gets dragged into Limbo and we get the first few fights in the game.
Later on, Kat tries to convince Damien to help her and the Order save humanity, but Damien doesn’t care at all and tells her that he didn’t need or want her help, then he changes his mind when he sees a police cruiser drive by. Then inside the hideout of The Order, we meet my least favorite character in this game, Victor who is also helping with The Order.
Then Victor is the one to convince Damien via telling him that he is a Nephilim and that his past was hidden from him for a reason and Damien explores his childhood home via a Wiccan seal Kat spray painted down and that’s where he gets his first angel and demon weapons as well as two different grappling hooks that either pulls objects or enemies towards him or pulls him towards said objects or enemies.
After going through every single part of the house in Limbo and getting cool new weapons Damien remembers that Victor is his twin brother and apparently instead of Sparda being killed by Mundus, Mundus instead imprisoned him for life.
There is a drink in this game that gets destroyed called Virility, which Victor calls Lobotomy in a can, and the Order destroys it with Damien’s help by killing the second most disgusting boss in this game, Succubus. Don’t let the name fool you. Look it up on the wiki or on Google, trust me.
Mundus is getting more and more agitated by Damien, which is what they want because the key to defeating Mundus and overthrowing his rule over humanity is getting him angry.
In the middle of the story, Kat gets kidnapped by the S.W.A.T team while Damien and Victor are trapped in Limbo, unable to help her. Mundus holds her hostage and asks Victor to give him Damien in exchange for Kat in a video. Damien then gets the idea to kidnap Lilith, his mistress who also carries his child. He got this information after helping an elderly demon get his artificial eye back.
After a reverse erection fight with Lilith, Damien then offers Mundus Lilith and her child in exchange for Kat, which leads to Victor wielding a sniper rifle to shoot at anyone who tries anything funny, which is weird because the original Vergil hates using guns so seeing this was strange. As Kat walks towards Damien and Lilith walks towards the S.W.A.T team, Victor pulls the trigger, first killing Mundus’s child and Lilith.
Here is one important element for Mundus: he is only immortal with his access to the Hell Gate. If it’s sealed, he’ll be killed by normal means.
This of course frustrates Mundus and towards the end, he asks Damien, “why did you kill my child?” Then knowing what to do next, as a way of pissing off Mundus as a distraction so that Victor can seal off the gateway to Hell Damien brags about killing Lilith and his baby and says that it was “priceless.”
After almost getting his heart ripped out, Damien fights Mundus and after he saves Victor from him, his grasp, he kills him for good.
Cool ending right? Well… no. Because the worst part of this storyline made me hate this version of Vergil. And I’m not even talking about Vergil’s Downfall yet.
Victor then reveals that since Mundus is dead, he and Damien can now rule the humans. Much to both Kat and Damien’s shock. He then in a very condescending manner talks down to humans, right in front of Kat, the same human who literally took a bullet and a beating to help them and risked her life multiple times. He even says, she was “useful,” and I can’t think of a more douchey way of saying that he just used her for personal gain.
And because… this is an attempted reboot of Devil May Cry that didn’t do too well, it feels like this story felt obligated to have Damien and Victor fight just because a fight between two twin brothers builds drama, and that’s not all there is to it when it comes to Dante and Vergil’s rivalry. It’s only scratching the surface. Not to mention that Damien and Victor’s relationship went from loving brothers to Victor absolutely despising Damien for “being better than him.” A far cry from what Dante and Vergil’s relationship is actually like. Also, this takes place on the 20th and final mission. Which is why I say that this came out of nowhere and was forced.
TL:DR about the game’s story: Weak storyline with a badly executed twist at the very end.
Gameplay (4/5):
Gameplay is this game’s biggest strength. The combat is so much fun in this game, and yes, even in Vergil’s Downfall, which is the only redeeming quality of that DLC. But Damien is the most fun to use in this game because oh my god, I love his Angel weapons so much.
I especially love the angelic scythe even though it’s the very first Angel weapon you get.
I also love the grappling mechanic, with the demon grapple, you pull objects and enemies towards you, and with the angel grapple, you pull yourself towards the objects and enemies.
His demonic weapons are also cool, and I use those attacks sparingly when it comes to tougher enemies, just like what I do with heavy attacks in fighting games and in hack-and-slash games like this.
Now what are the downsides of the gameplay? Only the fact that you can’t manually aim for some reason. Even though Damien straight up uses guns, you literally can’t aim. You’re basically forced to auto-aim. Out of all games I’ve reviewed so far, this game is the most dependent on auto-aiming. I even looked through my options to see if I could turn off auto-aim to a more manual aim, but to my disappointment there was no way to turn it off. Which is why I always dreaded having to fight off tough enemies on the ground and then dealing with annoying flying enemies setting up traps to smack you and interrupt your combo. Could be a skill issue on my part, but either way, it shouldn’t take making a definitive edition to put in a feature that should’ve been in the game to begin with in my opinion.
Other than that, I let the forced auto-aiming slide for now because the gameplay and how different Damien and Victor are in terms of how they play makes up for it.
Characters (2.5/5):
This section I’m the most mixed on. On one hand I’m glad Damien isn’t 100% an asshole the entire time. On the other however, he ain’t Dante. Hence why I named him Damien because he is completely different from Dante. It’s insane to me that the most hated video game character in video game history has the best character development in this game. In fact, dare I say, he benefitted the most from the bad writing.
Damien starts out being a typical asshole anti-hero protagonist and shows off his anti-social and deviant personality, until he meets Kat, who I will get to in a second. He goes from, “I don’t need your help, I didn’t ask for your help,” to, “I only met Kat for a day and a half, and if anything happened to her, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself.” Actually, Damien reminds me of Jake Muller kind of. Hear me out. Jake Muller is also another character who starts out a selfish asshole, but then becomes a jerk with a heart of gold when he meets Sherry. Resident Evil 6 aside, Damien is also shown caring about his brother Victor. He does tease him but it’s in a more typical older brother way. And yeah, Damien is the older twin of the two in this universe. He used to not care about humanity, but after Mundus was defeated and Victor attempted to rule humanity with an iron fist, he made the decision to protect humanity from guys like Victor. Also, in my opinion Damien is the most overhated character in video games. Yes, the cliches and typical tropes are there, but he’s not the worst character in this game specifically. That would be Victor.
Again, if he was named differently, he wouldn’t have so much hate. I mean he would still get hate because of the usual cliches, but it wouldn’t be as bad as it was when this reboot was fresh in 2013.
Kat didn’t really change too much character wise in this story, but I do like how she was written nonetheless. I love how even though she’s not a combatant like Damien or Victor, she’s still hyper competent. I’m talking planning things out, using old Wiccan recipes for seals, guiding Damien through Limbo and the fact that she has helped The Order several times.
The same cannot be said about Victor. So, where do I even begin with this guy? First of all, he is a FAR cry from what Vergil is supposed to be as a villain. Vergil is a complex antagonist who was blinded by his trauma of losing his mother, being victimized by Mundus and being imprisoned as Nelo Angelo and nearly dying and being obsessed with gaining more power. He despised being a victim and not being in control of himself hence why he sought more of that power. Granted, his actions are depicted as him being well reckless and being just as impulsive as his twin brother, and rightfully he’s labeled as an antagonist and villain. I mean, when he was introduced as himself pre-Nelo Angelo, right off the bat, we knew he wasn’t even a hero, like not even close.
Victor on the other hand only did the things he did in the game because he wanted to rule over the humans because he thought of them as helpless little children. Alright, you fedora wearing, r/niceguy lookin’ inferior complex dude, why would I trust someone like you to “protect” humanity? Keep in mind too that Victor before Mission 20 was being heroic up until that point and him becoming a villain basically ruined all of that. He gets so much worse in Vergil’s Downfall somehow. He just keeps getting more and more evil and for what? Because he thinks that Damien is better than him. Because he thinks Eva loved Damien more than him. And finally, because he is just yet another one-dimensional villain that is lusting after power and he leads an army of demons to try to take over humanity. But more on Vergil’s Downfall in a different post. Victor is the worst version of Vergil I’ve seen so far. Hence why Victor is renamed Victor by me. At least his design looks nice.
As for Mundus, another typical one-dimensional power hungry villain.
Lilith is also just Mundus’s mistress with an ego bigger than Mount Everest.
All of the villains are generic evil characters, with Succubus acting as literal toxic chemicals to harm people and literally and figuratively spewing toxic stuff at Damien and whoever that reporter demon guy was being a meta type of villain, which is obviously taking a jab at attention seeking news channels and news websites that also lie and stretch the truth.
Graphics (4.5/5):
The graphics of the game aged well, but then again, Ninja Theory did a solid job on their good looking and ugly character designs and translating them well in renders. For Vergil’s Downfall, for the cutscenes, a 2D animation plays to depict the dark story of Victor falling further and further down into madness, which I do like seeing and that is the ONLY element I loved about Vergil’s Downfall.
Capcom also had a hand in this an as usual their graphics back in the 2010’s also looked pretty nice.
Voice Acting (4.5/5):
Solid voice acting. Especially since with how the story and dialogue is written, the voice actors made it work. Bad voice acting and bad vocal direction would’ve made the execution of the story and character writing even worse.
I think the best voice actors would have to be Damien’s voice actor, Victor’s, Mundus’s, Lilith’s, and Kat’s. Also, if someone knows about a mod where you use the DMC Devil May Cry style announcer for Devil May Cry 5, let me know because I also enjoyed hearing the “SAVAGE!,” and “SADISTIC!!,” lines so much whenever I got an S or SS rank.
Did this game deserve the hate it got?:
In my opinion, the game has its flaws, obviously, the story is the weakest part of DMC Devil May Cry. I am also going to be one of many people that will say this this again and again: if this game had its own IP, like what I nicknamed it, “Nephilim Rage,” and renaming Reboot Dante and Reboot Vergil into Damien and Victor, with a lot of tweaks to the storyline, this would’ve been a good game and fans would’ve viewed it differently.
Otherwise, no. Despite how much I hated Victor and like I said three times at this point, the weak story, I think this game is okay. It’s not terrible. This is already long enough, so I’m not going to rant about it here, because the DLC will have its own separate review.
Score: 16.5 out of 20. The story was the weakest part of the game and I don’t care about (in Victor’s case, he’s a character I despise) the characters except for Damien and Kat. The gameplay and voice acting made up for the flawed writing.
But you want to know one element I outright loved about DMC Devil May Cry? The soundtrack. Could be the casual metal listener in me saying this, but I love the soundtrack and I think I’m gonna get more into Combichrist. The metal music in the game fits the edgy tone the game was attempting to go for and it works.
Also, Damien is the most overhated character in video games in my opinion. Again, yeah, he ain’t Dante, but with a simple name change that I did, he now has his own identity separate from Dante. All I gotta do is just rename his weapons, lol.
That aside, TL:DR… DMC Devil May Cry May have a badly written story with equally badly written characters, at least the game is fun to play with the usual flashy combos courtesy of Ninja Theory and Capcom and has a sick soundtrack.
