Doing some prototyping in the studio… I borrowed a Holly Carburetor from one of my Dad’s associates and scanned it with my new 3d laser scanner and then after some digital clean up and rendering I 3d printed the models at a fraction of the original scale as a test… the goal being to render these highly detailed models at 1/18 and 1/24 & 1/25 scale for car modeling… I will also be using this technology to build 3d printable DnD terrain in the future, but I needed a test subject. This used to be a fragment of a an abandoned building lying on construction site, now it is a hollow 3d printed representation of a point cloud generated by a the leaked code of an abandoned piece of software. Printed in birch filled cornstarch (that smells like freshly cut timber) on a salvaged 3d printer for a show in an art space that bears the name of an building that no longer exists.
