The Overhead Sun
The title of this episode is ดวงอาทิตย์ตั้งฉาก /duaang aa thit dtang chaak/ = the Sun perpendicular/at a 90 degree angle
1) When the Sun is directly overhead, at the subsolar point, the rays of the Sun hit the Earth perpendicular to its surface and cause the shadows of objects to fall directly under them or appear shadowless. In Thailand this phenomenon can be observed twice within a year, April-May and July-September (here's a map with dates for all 77 provinces for this year).
2) While the characters complain about the heat, we get to see Sun at an emotional zenith (thanks, gang, for pushing her until the jealousy bubbled over lol) and Ongsa at a sort of popularity-zenith.
3) What we also get to see is lots and lots of perpendicular lines in the shot composition and in how the characters are positioned!
The new seating arrangement places Ongsa and Sun perpendicular to each other (also peep the poster behind Ongsa's new spot):
The gang or us as the viewers keep being positioned at a 90 degree angle to OngsaSun:
But characters keep interfering with the two of them:
And Ongsa herself is also her own worst enemy:
Though we begin the episode with Ongsa and Sun facing each other, rather than getting stuck perpendicular...
...and end with them no longer forming a line at all but becoming a point instead 💕

Aylin clearly suffered from bullying which is what led her to only view aliens as her friends but we are going to watch Aylin as the show progresses not only find friends but also a girlfriend who love and value her for who she is oh i am going to sob

Can we talk about the fact that Luna slept over in Aylin’s room once for a project to get Ongsa and Sun closer, and then invented a fresh project for Aylin immediately following that and invited herself over for the “next few days?”

i gotta say, going to your first day of school in a new town, bravely taking a seat in an overwhelmingly busy classroom, being confronted with a girl SO pretty you almost tumblr off the chair you're sitting on completely normally (but don't, because she catches you) and then fainting, waking up on top of a table surrounded by classmates staring at you, and eventually fleeing because the girl is STILL so pretty she makes you hiccup and you accidentally said that out loud, is, like. both a minor nightmare and something for legends only. ongsa, i see you going places, and i don't just mean the bathroom to hide and scream!!

watching 23.5 and i really appreciate Aylin going to ask Ongsa for a pad (and then also talking to her while holding it and opening it)... like, that's such a normal every day event but i literally just realized how it's pretty much never shown on screen??? (just like most menstruation-related stuff tbh)

Aylin always has something on her head. It's either a hat or anything related to aliens.

I feel like if you're going to discuss GL/yuri in a historical context, specifically regarding why it does or doesn't "get made", and you don't mention things like the intersections of misogyny, and cultural patriarchy towards queer & non queer women in their own countries of origin (ie Japan, China, etc) whilst also ignoring huge cultural mainstays like Revolutionary Girl Utena, Sailor Moon, or Rose of Versailles and recent hits like The Gap & I'm in Love with a Villainess (and probably 23.5) and doing all this purely from an ethnocentric pov with no sources, like you're just giving out faulty information.

The fact that ongsa and Aylin have never had friends over and they were both so excited that they RAN to the door when their friends arrived is just. I’m so emotional over them
