I Can Still Hear The Bagpipers...9/11/2001

 Twenty-two years ago I lived around the corner from Campbell’s Funeral Parlor, the Taj Mahal of funeral homes.   I got used to the sound of bagpipers mewling in memory of the firefighters and policemen felled on September 11th.  Every day there seemed one more to be sadly serenaded as mourners wept on the sidewalk. WoW , I received a phone call today from my old #autoShop #instructor from #22yearsAgo Mr. #DaveOtis . he came by the shop to say hi & would you believe it, by accident. Yes, we looked at each other and said hey I know you lol. We had some laughs & talked cars , and then Dave told me The students in the class are still racing the 69 #chevynova I helped rebuild the front suspension on back in the day ! 😀 WoW so cool to hear that. Been watching Chris Farley documentaries, SNL skits and his movies all day. Whenever I’m feeling sad and need a laugh; all I have to do is watch anything with Chris Farley in it. It always ends with me smiling and crying from laughter. Which is what I’m currently doing. Next month will be 22 years since this comedic genius died from an overdose. There hasn’t been many celebrity deaths that affected me; but his did, and he was the first. He died 5 days after my 6th birthday. I remember it like it was yesterday; my brother John came into my room to tell me Chris Farley died, because everyone knew I loved him so much. I remember sitting on my bedroom floor bawling my eyes out. It makes me sad, still to this day, that I’ll never be able to meet him and thank him for bringing me so much joy since I was a kid..from being obsessed with SNL to his movies. He’s always been someone I looked up to.
