Can we talk about how heartbreaking Kristen’s mom’s little “you doin okay?” is?
Like, I don’t know how many of you know what its like to grow up inside of a high control group like that, but the thing about the shunning is that the reason it works as a threat to keep people in line is that you DO love these people, and they love you, so the idea of leaving them forever is terrifying. While a lot of parents in these groups are just out and out monsters to their kids, many others are just as much victims of the group as their kids.
It matters that Donna wants to know Kristen is okay, just like it matters that when faced with the reality of her daughter’s life she ultimately chose to turn away. It makes Kristen’s choice to leave all the more meaningful to know that her mother may truly care about her, but not enough to change.

here are all the recs I posted for femslash february 2024...! each individual rec post can be found in my femslash feb recs tag. I actually thought I wasn't going to be able to do this because work got super chaotic, but in the end I couldn't bear to skip out on a leap year. that's a whole extra day for yuri.
last year I focused on official releases, so this year I wanted to focus on series that aren't technically officially available (plus a french-japanese film). fan translations are always a dicey for artists/translators/publishers/etc because obviously they need to get paid... but yuri's already such an overlooked genre that—in an official capacity—we end up with a couple drops from what's already a pretty small pool. I read hana to hoshi about a decade ago, and I keep submitting it to the seven seas survey for licensure! and yet!! no dice. and even when there are official releases, sometimes they just... disappear!? wish you were gone was licensed and then taken down, so for a while the only way to read it (if you missed out on buying it) was the fan translation. I think it's important to support artists and official releases, and also, to appreciate the thankless endeavor(/crime) of scanlation.

The thing with Ascended Astarion is like— I know the whole thing is supposed to be “he’s continuing the cycle of abuse and he doesn’t love your character and he’s a monster etc etc” except two things:
First, you guys I grew up watching Klaus Mikaelson and Lestat and Kol Mikaelson and a million other all powerful awful vampires, and they always have that one person. 20 years of vampire media has trained me to think ascended Astarion can also have that one person.
Second, if you romance Ascended Astarion as dark urge, who is basically the demigod child of the god of murder, I’m gonna be honest I’m not really worried about them getting hurt

Sepp freaking Kuss
Third grand tour he's racing this year! And Roglic said he could even be like a third GC leader or something?? I don't actually think he can do it, because he has raced both other grand tours already, and that has to take a toll on the body, BUT it would make for such a great story. Jumbo Visma, winning all three grand tours with a different rider each time. Sepp Kuss, the best teammate in the peloton, always selfless in helping his leaders, taking the spotlight and winning a grand tour. I so want that for him.

So... in order to make myself actually fucking leave my house this summer, I'm going to be buying myself a bicycle! (And because I am 9000% myself all of the time/the worst, It's gonna be neon pink. 🙄🙄🙄)
I am ignoring the fact that I haven't owned a bike since I was like 10 and my older brother fucking BROKE IT by riding it down a really fucking steep hill and going headfirst over my handlebars.
He was thankfully uninjured despite being almost 17-years-old and riding his younger sibling's bike down the tallest hill in our childhood neighbourhood...
ANYWAY. That is not the point of this post.
The actually point was that I was Googling "What protective gear do I need for cycling other than a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, reflective materials?" and this came up as one of the related questions/answers:
YES. THANK YOU, Google. That's exactly the answer I was looking for.
Definitely great advice for anyone who may not know that, but I'm pretty fucking high right now and I that is the nicest fucking way I have ever seen to say "Wear a FUCKING HELMET, idiot" AND I LOVE IT.
(The new bike has the same colour scheme of neon pink/white/teal that my childhood bike did... It's like it's destiny or something... idk fam.)
