Maynard James Keenan and Christianity
(Sorry, this isn't really the best title. Nor is it put to attract attention. This is one are of my interest. Musicians/celebrities who have expressed a distaste for Christianity - and who have had a 'Christian' childhood.)
While listening to Tool's song '10,000 Days (Wings Pt. 2)', I was reminded of Maynard James Keenan's angst/distaste for Christianity was due to his mother's 10,000 days long coma, and she eventually passed away.
His devout mother chose faith as a response on troubles (if I am inferring right).
I believe he is from a Baptist background (that's a pretty devout faith-focused type of Christianity, though not the most 'devout' or extreme).
She passed away after her very long coma (27 years!) in 2003, and he reveals the rage he has against Christians/Christianity. It makes sense.
The lyrics here show him opening up and has a 'I'll show you your place' feel.
"Please forgive this bold suggestion.
Should you see your maker's face tonight,
Look him in the eye.
Look him in the eye and tell him,
"I never lived a lie, never took a life,
But surely saved one.
Hallelujah
It's time for you to bring me home."
The other song 'Right In Two' describes his evaluation of the problem with God giving freewill to humans.
Just reflecting on some amazing musicians who had troubled childhoods in devout (agreed, debatable) Christian homes.
Some attack it through their music, some don't.
He is one (of many) musicians who I respect for their work.

What are we gonna do when the lights go down, without you to guide them all to Zion?
What are we gonna do when the rivers overrun, other than tremble incessantly?
