どんどん庵との付き合いは古く、高校時代まで遡る。お店が学校の向かいにあったので、昼時などに利用していました。当時（45年前）は、うどんが100円台だったな〜♫
で、昨日は伏見のどんどん庵で昼食を。うどんと野菜のかき揚げね。実は天ぷら類の中で、ぺこ玉と野菜だけのかき揚げが大好きで、ここのかき揚げは、安くて旨くて最高！うどんとで480円なり。つい最近まで440円だったけどね。

My relationship with Dondon-an is old, going back to my high school days. The shop was across the school, so I used it at lunchtime. At that time (45 years ago), udon was around 100 yen~♫ So, yesterday I had lunch at Dondon-an in Fushimi. Udon and vegetable kakiage. In fact, among tempura, I love pekodama and vegetable kakiage, and the kakiage here is cheap and delicious! 480 yen with udon. Until recently, it was 440 yen. It was delicious 😋

Keiko’s Room #34 Live Broadcast Birthday Special with Hikaru!
Ohhh! This was a lot of fun. Keiko started by singing “Yoru no Uso to”. I think I preferred the version from her fan club event but it was a neat intro. She got a huge Sabon adventcalendar with bath and body products. Looks fancy and costs around €100. Also, I am noticing that Hikaru is wearing her Kalafina pinky ring (just like Keiko always does). Dammit, I think I will have no choice but to buy it when I am in Japan (even though it’s currently quite expensive T_T). LOL at Hikaru wanting to introduce herself b some people might not know her. Keiko is like, “there’s literally no need since everyone knows who you are XD” They gathered a ton of questions but they barely got through any of them.
Seems like Hikaru is still a big fan of potatoes and chicken whereas Keiko is all about red meat (and zero carbs as we all know). They started talking about potatoes because fans keep posting potato emojis instead of clapping emojis (it’s a joke among those who regularly watch Keiko’s Insta Lives where she once mistook the clapping emoji for a potato). As expected there is some anime talk but Hikaru hasn’t had much time recently to watch anything new so she doesn’t really have any good recommendations for Hikaru. They talk about what sort of animal they see each other as. Hikaru describes Keiko as squirrel and Keiko chooses a seal for Hikaru. When asked about each other’s favourite song, Hikaru says “Hitori Janai Kara” and it seems like Keiko’s favourite song in Hikaru’s album is “Ambient Border”, quite unexpected. I am so excited to hear it live during the Dec 17 event! Hikaru also confirmed that she will be wearing her stage outfit which will 100% kill me :P

There is a new Saint Tail collaboration with Seria (a ¥100 shop in Japan)
I don't usually care about new Saint Tail merch because the artworks are just meh. This time, however, some of the merch feature artwork that were originally from furoku and zen'in! 💕
Plus, they're only ¥100 so even though they are being resold on Mercari JP, they are still very affordable for the overseas fan.
Not sure I trust the ¥100 yen hand cream though. One of the Mercari listing I bought came with the hand cream.

Artist statement for Standard Japan Edition

8ヶ月間フランスに滞在した。フランスに「安くて良い」100均はない。安くて可愛いピアスはすぐに壊れた。「安くて良い」など強欲だ。
フランスの景色には時間の重みがあり、本物の物体だった。日本の景色は安易に手に入る偽物で満足しようとして、書き割りのようだった。私は100均で買ったおもちゃを描き「アンティーク風」のフレームで囲った。おもちゃは本物でない日本を象徴しているようであり、フレームは、アンティークという時��の蓄積を安価に手に入れようとする卑しさを感じたからである。
私は壊れたピアスを何度も修理した。強欲に、可愛いその子を維持させたいのだった。

2020年10月から2021年6月までフランスに滞在した。フランスに100均はなかった。安くて良いものはなかった。安くてかわいい蝶々のピアスを買ったがすぐに壊れた。それは当然で、「安くて良い」など強欲だ。とはいえ、フランスは不便で、私は100均が恋しかった。100円で買える、いるのかいらないのかわからない品物－妙にキラキラしたおもちゃ、過剰奉仕な便利グッズが恋しかった。それらは一工夫すれば、手持ちのもので簡単に作れるのに、わざわざ100円払って買いたがっていたのである。
フランスの景色は重厚で様々な歴史を感じた。それは偉業が残っているということではなく、街並みや建物が長い間そこにずっとあるという歴史である。それは古いものがよいとか伝統がよいとかということではなく、圧倒的な時間の重みである。ものを大切にするというとき、拾った紙袋を何度も使うということを指すのではない。1つだけ丈夫な少し高価なカバンを買って10年でも20年でも手直ししながら毎日使うということである。日本の景色はペラペラでおもちゃのようだった。安易に手に入る紙袋で満足しようとして、書き割りのような街並みだった。
今回、私は100均で買ったおもちゃを描き、「アンティーク風」のフレームで囲った。そのおもちゃはどこか人間のようにもみえたし、本物のない日本を象徴しているように感じたからである。フレームの方は、アンティークという時間の蓄積を100円で手に入れようとする卑しさを感じたからである。
私は壊れたピアスを修理した。また壊れたけれど、また修理した。私は強欲に、かわいいその子を、維持させたいのだった。

I stayed in France for 8 months. There are no "cheap and good" 100s in France. The cheap and cute earrings broke easily. Greed is the key to "cheap and good."
The scenery in France had the weight of time and was a real object. The Japanese landscape was like a broken piece of paper, trying to be satisfied with easily-obtained fakes. I painted toys I bought at a 100-yen store and surrounded them with "antique-style" frames. The toy seemed to symbolize an inauthentic Japan, and the frame was a despicable attempt to cheaply acquire the accumulation of time that is an antique.
I repaired the broken earrings many times. Greedily, I wanted to keep the pretty little thing.

I stayed in France from October 2020 to June 2021. There were no 100s of dollars in France. There was nothing cheap and good. I bought a pair of cheap, cute butterfly earrings, but they broke immediately. That is natural, and "cheap and good" etc. is greed. J'ai séjourné en France pendant huit mois. Il n'y a pas de "bon marché et bon" 100 en France. Les boucles d'oreilles, jolies et bon marché, se sont cassées facilement. "Bon marché et bon", c'est de la cupidité.
Le paysage français avait le poids du temps et était un véritable objet. Le paysage japonais était comme une feuille de papier cassée, essayant d'être satisfaite avec des faux facilement obtenus. J'ai peint des jouets que j'ai achetés dans un magasin à 100 yens et je les ai entourés de cadres de style "antique". Le jouet semblait symboliser un Japon inauthentique, et le cadre était une tentative méprisable d'acquérir à bas prix cette accumulation de temps qu'est l'antiquité.
J'ai réparé des boucles d'oreilles cassées à plusieurs reprises. Avec gourmandise, je voulais garder la jolie petite chose.

J'ai acheté une paire de boucles d'oreilles papillon mignonnes et bon marché, mais elles se sont vite cassées. C'est naturel et avide, comme "bon marché et bon". Néanmoins, la France n'était pas pratique et le magasin à 100 yens m'a manqué, les produits que l'on peut acheter pour 100 yens et dont on ne sait pas si on en a besoin ou non - les étranges jouets brillants, les produits de consommation courante trop chers - m'ont manqué. Je voulais payer 100 yens pour quelque chose qui pouvait facilement être fabriqué avec ce que j'avais sous la main, avec un peu d'ingéniosité.

Le jouet ressemblait un peu à un être humain, et je trouvais qu'il symbolisait le Japon sans la réalité. Le cadre était une modeste tentative d'acquérir une antiquité, une accumulation de temps, pour 100 yens.
J'ai réparé les boucles d'oreilles cassées. Ils se sont encore cassés, mais je les ai encore réparés. Je voulais, dans mon avidité, garder cette jolie petite fille.
