Day 3 of studies

7 September 2022

Perhaps it’s true that I over promised when I declared I would have 7 studies by the end of the week, perhaps I’ll surprise myself and become quicker, more adept and deliver on that promise. Either way, one thing is true, I am being good to myself and practising. Here is reference study #2 in completion, and I’m pretty pleased with it, if I say so myself! Particularly the light on the face there. I went a little overboard on detail in the fabric, but overall the final product has a real feeling of warmth to it, with a sunshine glow emanating from her skin, through the windows, onto her book, which was really what I hoped to capture moreso than worrying about level of detail. A-thank-you and g’night! *does a wavy hand bow thing*.

Day Eighteen: Pisa

I walked into the living room this morning and there was a random guy I didn't know on the couch, and someone cuddling with someone on the other couch o.o Like okay I just wanted my coffee 😅

We went to Pisa! It was so so pretty, and the train/bus ride was like going through the country side~ I did notice that a lot of the poorer neighborhoods had whole community gardens and backyards that had huge gardens, while the richer ones had more commercial gardens for mass production with only one thing growing. Commercialized gardens versus permaculture.

But then we went to Pisa, and I wanted to go to the Leaning Tower, but we went to the beach instead. And honestly, I didn't mind it! It was so pretty~ And I did go swimming for a bit! I was reminded that I am not a strong swimmer and lack any sort of endurance 😅 But I did go and climb on the rocks! That was a lot of fun. I love climbing rocks. I didn't slip this time! The consequences for that could have been deadly.

Oooohmygoodness the most Looney Tunes thing just happened to us. We got on the wrong bus (it was earlier and our app wouldn't let is buy tickets for it) so i texted my roommates to get off and take the next train. They do, and I notice them and head out too. And the doors close right in front of me before I can reach them 😵 I felt so bad lol

Then I had to meet the Stefano guy.. I got dressed up, went to join him, and ohmygosh he is the most Indecisive old man I've ever met. It's like. My good dude YOU wanted me to come out here, so what do YOU want to do?? Fucker. Plus then I wanted to check out the concert going on nearby and he just wasn't into it 🙄 Then I got left at the altar lol First time for that happening to me! He said he'd get his car to go do a statue and he sped off like the devil was on his hind quarters lol. To be fair I waited a bit, but left after 20min. And I've been texting him and even called him and he just didn't respond or look at the messages, and he no longer has a picture on his What's App. Freaking weird. My roommates say it might have been a sex trafficking thing and I have my doubts but. Possible.

I got some Perseccot on the way back home but we don't have a bottle opener, so I will be 0% tipsy for tonight's game. I'm so disappointed by not having something to drink. My roommates are home right now watching Call Me By Your Name but they fell asleep halfway through and they didn't want bellinis. This would never have happened if I had my Soju >:( Anyways, early night for everyone, plus DnD tonight.

Pon Updates No. 17 - That New New

It's about that time again. By now, I'm sure y'all are getting the pattern, or at least what I intend the pattern to be. We're going to get something new which I'll get to in a bit. You probably noticed in my previous update that I mentioned five straight reviews of titles I've already reviewed.

This batch includes the other two titles, which again, I will get to in a bit. The significant part of this batch is the introduction of a new category of reviews, BOOKS! That's right, I'm adding books to my arsenal. On New Year's Day, I went with my cousin to a book store and I decided then and there I would make it a New Year's Resolution to read more books, particularly fiction. I specify that because I already read tons of books at work, primarily work related, but there are some interesting reads. I may change my mind and add these books to review as well. I'm gonna be honest and say I am not doing well to uphold my resolution completing 2 fiction books in 6 months.

For the time being, I'm adding the books I read to the top of my titles on deck for review. Otherwise, I'll never get to it. It's not a priority like revisiting titles are. However, it is close.

With that being said here's what to expect in the next couple of weeks.

Boruto - 07.14.2022 Ah. The bane of my existence. Fun fact: this one is the reason why I decided to split up my reviews into seasons/arcs. Don't worry! I do try to space them out as much as I can. At the very least, I need a break from all of this. Until then, I think it's good to emotionally prepare for this one.

Bridgerton - 07.19.2022 With the release of Season 2 earlier this year, you know I had to talk about it! Now Season 3 and 4 are also confirmed, and as much as I want to go off on a tangent, I should hold off until it is time to make the review. I'll keep an eye out for any more news, but to avoid spoilers I won't mention it here.

In the Woods by Tana French - 07.24.2022 Here it is! The first book review on PonReviews!! This was the book my cousin was recommending on New Years. The inaugural book review is coming a lot later sooner than I expected! It'll be a nice change of pace, and now my title pool is much larger for it.

After this set of reviews, I may slow down the pace. I'm not sure yet though. My main concern right now is burnout. I am handling a lot more in my day job, so it gives me less time and energy to work on these reviews. However, I don't want to stop of course. I'm still working on finding that balance between my job and my hobby (these reviews).
