Anderson chuckles when asked what he's going to miss most about Colonel Jack O'Neill. "I won't miss Jack at all because I get to take him wherever I go. I think what I'm going to miss the most is just having the venue in which to play him. I'll no longer have a stage upon which Jack can stand and be Jack. Once Stargate is over and the character is gone he's going to be a lost soul, the poor little guy. And that means Richard Dean is going to have to deal with real life, which is even a scarier notion. I'm sure I'll be fine, though."

A bunch of repurposes in this episode, including backscreen for when you don't want to spend precious vfx $$$ for an active gate, the suits from The Lost Tribe/First Contact*, and of course the SGA/SG1 in-the-wormhole effects, which we hadn't used yet, tinted differently (each galaxy gets its own tint)
*the suits were supposed to imply in-canon that The Lost Tribe's suits were also originally Ancients, at least according to some BTS chatter i'd read during the show's run.

Some good stuff about Jack/RDA's humor here:
"I think a lot of what the fans call 'Jack-isms' stem out of my love of the absurd and the incongruity of speech patterns and/or tenses. I'm a huge fan of British humour, from Terry-Thomas and Peter Sellers to Monty Python and right through to people today like Eddie Izzard. I especially like Monty Python and their non-secular style of humour. Stuff like that is what sometimes goes through my mind during our first rehearsal in the morning.

“Sir, none of this has to leave this room.”
Sam suggests it before he can. She doesn’t want to hear him tell her that they can’t because she doesn’t want to hear it; doesn’t want to let his words douse the flame of hope that’s been burning steadily since she recognize her feelings for him went beyond a simple crush.
It’s easier to box it--them--up in a room for later; for someday.
She waits for his acquiescence while Janet and Freya and Teal’c crowd into the room. Instead, he frowns and stares at her, head tilted to the side like he’s trying to figure out the answer to a strategy game with ever-changing rules.
“Sir?” she asks, heart in her throat. He’s staring at her, still, with those brown eyes of his soft and searching. His fingertips just brush along her elbow as if to pull her to the side of the room for some semblance of privacy.
“Carter, what if--”
And then Janet is there, looking relieved and satisfied that they aren’t za’tarcs. “Okay, so if they're not za’tarcs they're no threat to the President.”
The Colonel licks his lips and lets his fingertips fall away from her elbow, turns his attention back to the situation at hand.
But Sam’s elbow is still burning from his touch, her ears are still ringing with his words--I’d have rather died myself than lose Carter--and she’s suddenly sure there’s no room or box big enough for them.
