A bunch of posts have been talking about Richie working at a movie theater, so here's so headcanons based on me and my coworkers experiences at AMC Theater this summer
They start Richie off as greeter, because ripping tickets is the easiest job, and the kid is friendly enough
But then he won't stop talking to the customers coming in, and he starts holding up people trying to get into their movie, so they movie him over to concession where he'll have no idea what movie people are seeing
Of course he asks them anyway
But only on weekdays, where it's not as hectic, because when the Saturday crowd starts pouring in his own anxiety starts ramping up, and he can't get people out of his line fast enough
When he's on usher duty, he tries to parkour across the seats, both across single rows and up and down multiple rows
He definitely falls a bunch
He definitely keeps doing it
He use any chance he gets to talk across the walkie, reporting even the smallest incident or spill just so he can feel professional
He ABSOLUTELY takes the pins that are supposed to be for customers only
He has a collection of them, actually
One time one of his coworkers got so angry at the shitty customers who leave behind their trash that they snapped their broom in half, and Richie just hid it in the usher closet and got him a new one after he had stopped laughing to death
Because he works for the theater, he always gets three free tickets. He of course takes one for himself, but he always feels bad trying to figure out who to give the other two to
Sometimes they split the price as best they can, sometimes they just pass it around and keep track of who had it last
(They never point out how Eddie definitely gets the free ticket more)
One time Richie thought it would be funny to put 666 in his coworkers register while they restocked the candy cart, but then the line picked up and they were back on their register that they didn't notice it
Richie tried to apologize through all his laughter while his coworker waited for the register to process 666 candies before they could individually delete all of them
Richie ended up suffering anyway, because he had to take the whole line of customers anyway
He invited the losers to visit them All The Time
Particularly on days where he knows he's greeter again, because standing on your feet for seven hours with the least stimulating task is literally hell on earth, and he can't stop pacing and bouncing and doodling on his time sheet
The Losers all come to visit him early on, and at first Richie is fucking PUMPED because they all love him and he wasn't expecting them
But then he realizes they're all there to go see a movie he really wanted to see, and he won't get out until two hours after the movie starts
He smiles through it, though, and laughs it off before kicking them out of his concession line
(Of course he spots a little Eddie Kaspbrak sitting at one of the tall empty tables by the bar area, and as soon as the line is down and no one is around, he's back over by Richie - definitely only to tell him how annoyed he was that Richie didn't let them know he was working, not at ALL because he wants to see the movie with Richie and doesn't want to leave Richie alone, because Eddie knows how important movies are to him)
"Now we're gonna have to come back and see it ourselves, Tozier. Way to go."
Richie can see Eddie's smile leaking through, and he wishes desperately there wasn't a big snack counter between them
(That movie ends up being their first date)
(The Losers TOTALLY didn't plan it, not at all)
(Richie ends up kissing Eddie across the snack counter plenty of times after anyway)
