CCG Headcanons

I decided to develop the CCG theme a bit and write a few headcanons about it (I also plan to write in detail about the CCG of other countries)

I haven't forgotten about the Travel Headcanons, I just need some time, because for a long time I suffered from depression due to the situation in my country and my life. Now I’m trying to recover from all this and will try to continue to please you with my creativity and other interesting things)

Japanese investigators are considered among the best and most professional in the world. Many of them are often sent to different countries of the world, where the local anti-ghoul department is not expanding with increasing initiative, in turn, investigators from other countries are sent to Japan, where they get the necessary experience and knowledge (but for this they need to go through a special selection, which selects only 2 people from each country each year)

Вefore being sent on a business trip to another country, investigators attend special language courses (usually they are attended if the business trip lasts more than a month, but it also depends on the foundations of the country) and lectures on the history, laws and current situation in this country and what is the purpose of the stay investigators there (Most often they are sent to the CIS countries, China and other Asian countries, where CCG is not very strong and doesn’t have the proper resources to fight ghouls)

Before being hired by the department, investigators sign all the necessary documents, one of which contains a clause stating that in the event of a military conflict in Japan, the investigators will be called up for military service and mobilized.

Almost every investigator has a tattoo of the blood type and its rhesus (more often it’s located on the chest in men and under the collarbone in women). This is necessary for the rapid provision of medical care and blood transfusion. This is more of an old prejudice of department, the new generation of investigators don’t have such tattoos, since by that time the CCG had switched to dog tags.

After almost half a year of work in the department, many investigators often suffer from depression and alcoholism (sometimes even from drug addiction). Therefore, the department has a point for providing free psychological assistance, which first appeared only in 2008, where psychologists help young investigators recover from what is happening during work, but many don’t manage to recover from all this right away and it takes a very long time.

Yoshitoki Washuu is one of the few directors who organizes entertainment and sporting events such as creative contests, competitions and matches between other directorates. He believes that doing such work, people sometimes need to be distracted from bad events and relax a little.

At the CCG academy, there are several important exams that students must pass: Biology, Martial Arts, Swordsmanship, and Japanese. Previously, until 2005, drawing diagrams to create a quinque also belonged to the mandatory exam, later it was decided to exclude it from the mandatory ones, but this can still be chosen as an additional subject. Also, to the wish for the exam, English or any other foreign language of your choice is also given. Knowledge of the language at a sufficiently high level enables investigators to work abroad without courses and exams, which are taken 3 weeks before departure. The priority languages are: English, German, Chinese, Korean, French and Russian.

Previously, distinguished students from medical and scientific universities were taken to work in the CCG laboratory, who, with their abilities and knowledge, were able to attract the attention of CCG representatives. Later, due to the urgent need for staff, with the support of the commission, special faculties began to appear in universities dedicated to training ghoul researchers.

It's no secret that CCG scientists are doing a lot of research, including experiments on ghouls. Some of them are known to everyone, and some are carried out under complete secrecy and even the investigators and employees themselves do not know about them. Rumor has it that as a result of these experiments, they discovered various types of ghouls (some they even created themselves) about which they try to remain silent, so that there would be no scandals and panic in society. But these are only assumptions because no one knows whether this is true or a conspiracy

In addition to the quinque, investigators also carry a regular gun with quinque steel cartridges, but rarely use them due to their low effectiveness against ghouls. It’s usually used as a last resort to apprehend C-A rank ghouls. Also, a gun can be used to intimidate an ordinary person during interrogation, but the current leadership is trying to resist such extreme measures.

Concrete Human

Just as the water that day, all these ugly emotions could no longer be contained and poured into this world. My mask crumbled. I realized, crouching on the cracked concrete, feeling the marks engraving themselves into my wretched flesh as the gathering water drops reflected my most inner thoughts, my true self. At last, able to remember what my real face had once looked like. However, what I found was an incomplete rose, the roots missing. I felt so defenseless.

“Is someone there?”

The footsteps resonating in that filthy alley were light, graceful ones. Perhaps belonging to a young high school student. How I yearned to walk with such ease once more.

“I heard someone crying and-“

“Don’t you dare look at me!” I expressed with the little strength I had left in my voice, engulfing my face in soaked clothes. Regardless, I evaded her gaze too late.

“Your persona… it’s gone.

“I envy that you were able to free yourself from this fusing facade.”

Her previously rosy face and warm gaze suddenly seemed so troubled with regret.

“No, I envy that you are able to maintain this protective mask,” escaped my hesitant lips. “I would trade everything for things to go back as they were before.”

“Even your core, your being, that which defines you?” she asked bitterly.

I could hear her internal cries of sorrow.

“…”

Yet, I had no answer.

“This pathetic disguise we have built for ourselves has not shielded us from harm, but shattered us from the inside, defying who we truly are, robbing us of our humanity and our true existence, leaving nothing except a lifeless void and captured souls behind. One day you will awaken and find that you can no longer disentangle it from your threads of skin and understand that this mask has embedded itself like a parasite.

“So, it is your choice if you want to live as a faulty, nevertheless, humane being or an artificial and superficial slave of society, like the one I have become.”
