- i feel like carlos hates his wizard professor because he's very howl-esque, where he just doesn't really want to teach them. he's like howl if howl liked going fishing instead of tax evading. just kind of a lazy, unreliable guy lol. but he's the only wizard they have teaching at blackwood right now, so what can they do?
- helena and selene get along well with ms. sharpe, their theater/literature professor. (she used to teach at st. bernadine's, but relocated to blackwood with her husband after tragedy befell the school.) she kind of keeps them on track and tries to work with them on whatever ideas/studies they pursue (even if the idea is outlandish lol).

You mentioned in your tags that Dawn doesn't have as much of a backstory as Selene does. Do you know how she got turned into a werewolf?
so. update. dawn has a bit more backstory now! im telling you it all sorry not sorry
place names are hard, but dawn was an orphan child on the capital of this kingdom (yet to get a name-) who gets taken in a member of the silverbloom hunter guild, group who dedicate themselves to hunting vampires and was originally founded in the honor of the weeping lady (the goddess of death of this world's pantheon, who despises the undead since they are a disgrace to her domain), even if not all members of silverbloom are that religious or followers of the weeping lady necessarily- but a good amount of them do follow this goddess
the hunter that took dawn in also took another child in, theodore, who dawn grows to be quite close to, seeing him like a brother, and another orphan who ended up becoming quite a devout follower of the weeping lady and very excited to join the hunter guild once he is old enough, he sees it that getting rid of such vermin in the eyes of his goddess is a great honor
(theodore was bdubs in the original au, the goddess was originally cleo but weeping lady became merged with another goddess from an original pantheon that didn't have a world and doesn't resemble cleo that much anymore)
so, after several years of insisting that she joins too, theodore drags dawn to join the silverbloom hunters, even if she did have some doubts, and it's during a training hunt that dawn gets bitten by a werewolf
dawn got lost from the path in the middle of the forest, did not realize it was a full moon, ran into a “weird wolf” and got attacked and bitten by it on the leg. she hides the bite from the rest of the trainees, and ends up joining the hunters
the bite happens roughly four to five ish months before the start of the story, so dawn is pretty new to being a werewolf still and the quest to the town where dawn meets selene is the first proper one she gets sent to by silverbloom

Mirror and haunted house for anyone in the blackwood cast!
🪞 - what would your character do if faced with an evil doppelganger? would they run away, fight? is the doppelganger a reflection of their inner fears?
carlos would scream and start hitting them with the nearest object. he's not playing with any evil selves today.
helena and selene would probably be freaked out at first, then if they're more chaotic than murderous they'd probably just be like, "hey, you wanna get high and watch old movies with us?" and they'd end up crowded with starla and satin in ted's basement watching like some black and white french movie. or like noir or the godfather or something lol.
shadow helena: that was totally rad.
shadow selene: way better than the stuff in our world.
helena: you guys should totally come hang out with us again. we could do like monologues or something.
selene: or poetry readings.
shadow helena and selene: girls night!!
🏚 - what would your character do if their house was haunted? are they haunting their house? does the house reflect their state of mind, or does the house love/hate them and vice versa?
carlos, helena, and selene would probably try to figure out what the house wants (some houses are benevolent: rose house, blackwood school. some malevolent: darlington house.). then assuming the house doesn't want to eat them, send them into a torture labyrinth, or whatever, they would try to get along with it.
i do think some of the houses in orphan country soak up people's emotions, and events that happen in the house do leave a mark and an echo, especially in magical ones that are alive.
in the event they ended up in a pre-owned house that turned malevolent, they would probably try to have it cleansed or something like that. failing that, i think the house would try to get in their heads and manipulate them, so it could feed on their negative emotions. then the house would slowly keep warping and mangling itself to fit to their mental state.

Selene's hair was already black and blonde and it was natural. She blinked for a moment thinking about it, "I'd like to dye it all blonde and make it bright pink, just to freak my dad out. I don't know how well my hair would take to bleaching or dying though."
