synopsis ☆ Y/N is a new streamer. after months of planning, and her best friend & now fellow streamer han jisung convincing her, she makes a twitch and youtube account. thanks to jisung giving her a shoutout to his own huge following, she gains some unexpected overnight fame. but what was more unexpected was waking up to see her long-time favourite comfort streamer _sunshine.bbokari_ following her.

CHAPTER THIRTY ☆ WAIT

You met the next day at the park by your apartment.

Not a lot of people were out, though the weather was nice. There was a light breeze, causing your hair to get caught in your mouth a few times, and making it cool enough to keep wearing the sweater/sweatpants combo you'd been wearing for the last week.

There was plenty of time for you to calm your nerves before Felix showed up; you had a habit of being early. You sit on a bench by a small pond, watching the ducks with a small smile. Though nothing could fully distract you from what was about to happen.

All night, you played it through your head: Felix would show up, and before he could say anything you'd do it. You'd break up with him. And then you'd go, leaving no room for argument or objection. The plan was far from solid, but it's what you had to do.

Sudden movement beside you breaks you away from your thoughts, looking beside you to see Felix sit down on the bench next to you. He stares straight ahead, the only acknowledgement being a small nod in your direction. Your plan dissolved the second he sat down and the two of you sat in silence for the better part of an hour until you couldn't bear it any longer.

"Felix I-"

"Wait," He holds up a hand. "Just... wait."

Taking a deep breath, he turns to look at you directly. Now you could see the dark circles under his eyes, the tired expression. Your heart broke further. This past week had been hard for you, and you didn't even stop to think how hard it might have been for him.

But why would he be? You think. He's not the one desperately in love.

"If you- if you really think we should break up, then I need to tell you something." He runs a hand through his hair nervously, turning his body on the bench to face you better. "I don't want to stay friends. No- I can't stay friends."

Your lip quivered, but you stay silent, allowing him to continue. He looks away from you again, taking a shaky breath. You could almost see an internal debate in his eyes, anticipating what he'll say next.

"Y/N, I'm in love with you," He says, voice breaking just the slightest.

There it was. Confession out in the open. Felix felt relieved to had finally said it, but all you could feel was increasing anxiety.

"You- you what?"

"I understand if you don't feel the same way, since this whole relationship was supposed to be just a ruse," He lets out a half-hearted laugh, looking down at his hands, fingers playing with his rings. "In fact, maybe it's best to leave it like this. I know you don't feel the same, but I've fallen so, so hard for you Y/N, harder than I ever thought I could. I've never felt this way about anybody before and I thought maybe, just maybe, if I was the best fake boyfriend you could've asked for, you'd fall for me too. Clearly that didn't work."

He shakes his head, his lips turned down in a frown, sniffing hard and trying to prevent tears from falling. Even now, heartbroken, he still looked so beautiful.

"So I guess this is goodbye," He hesitantly makes eye contact with you, and your chest tightens. "It was good while it lasted, I hope it was for you too."

As he stands to leave, your own tears began to fall. You hadn't even noticed them building up.

Felix was getting further away and the sky grew cloudy, mimicking the feeling in your chest. He was almost out of sight when the rain began and you made your decision.

He was in love with you.

You were in love with him.

So why in the world were you breaking up?

The next few moments felt like a movie.

You run, right down to the end of the path where you found Felix walking home, grabbing his arm. He flinches at the sudden action, eyes softening just a bit when he saw it was you. Tears streaked his cheeks, mixing with the light rain, freckles shining. Thunder rumbles in the distance, but the oncoming storm was the last thing on your mind.

"Y/N-"

"I'm in love with you too."

CHAPTER FOURTY ☆ LUCKY

Felix is waiting for you downstairs. He's all bundled up, and you can't help but giggle at how adorable he looks. Once he hears you, he looks up, breaking out into a smile. It felt warm like the sun, bright and glowing; it felt like home.

And maybe that's when you realize it- Felix has become your home, your safe space. You've never been so in love. Picturing a life without him... you can't, truly. It's like he's always been there, and in a way, he has. You grew up watching his videos, dreaming of the day you'd meet, not believing it would actually happen. Now?

Now, you're so in love with him it hurts.

"Lixie!" His cheeks tinge pink at the nickname. "I'm so excited for tonight! I don't know what we're even doing, but I really don't care as long as it's with you."

"God, I love you," he wraps an arm around your shoulders, pulling you close as you walk out the door.

The cold air hits you, causing you to shiver. You made the mistake of not wearing a jacket, figuring it wasn't that cold today, forgetting it got colder at night. Not wanting Felix to notice, you suppress the urge to shiver more, cuddling into his side instead.

"It's not a long drive," he says, opening the passenger door for you. "The heat is on in case you're cold."

You nod, stepping into the warmth. He gets in the driver's side, only taking off when you're both secured in. The drive really isn't long, like he said, only ten minutes.

"Close your eyes, we're almost there!" Felix says excitedly. "I want it to be a surprise!"

"Okaaay," you reply, closing your eyes, eyebrows raised slightly. "When do I get to know what's happening?"

You hear him open and close his door right as you asked, you own door opening a few seconds later. Cold air swoops in, right down your back.

"Once we're inside, love."

Felix takes your hands, guiding you down an icy path. Another door opens and you step through, immediately warming up. Hands rub up and down your arms before leading you further into the mysterious building. Stepping into another room, the temperature change almost causes you to open your eyes prematurely.

"Okay... you can open your eyes." You can hear the smile in his voice, and the nervousness.

Opening your eyes, you gasp. You're standing on the edge of an indoor ice rink, the only source of light being the fairy lights decorating the edge. On the bench to your left sits two pairs of skates. You look at Felix, jaw dropped.

"No one's coming for the rest of the night. It'll be just us," Felix shifts from one foot to the other. "Do... do you like it? I know you wanted to learn to skate, and Kai mentioned to me once how much you love fairy lights so I thought-"

"Felix!" You throw your arms around him, startling him. "This is beautiful! Ahhh, let's get on the ice!"

After getting the skates on, you stumble onto the ice, a death grip on Felix's right arm. You glide clumsily into the middle, stopping to look at your partner only to find he's already looking at you.

"You're always looking at me," you start, grabbing his other arm. "Whenever I look at you, you're there first. Sometimes I wonder if there's something on my face."

"Oh there's something on your face alright." You look at him funny and he laughs. "You know, eyes, mouth, nose..."

You scoff and hit him playfully, but lose your balance. As your legs fall away from under you, he's grabbing you, keeping you upright. It takes you a second to stand without slipping.

"Now that was embarrassing."

He laughs, a deep, warm laugh. Your heart skips a beat, and his hand is suddenly on your neck. You look at him with heart eyes, and he's leaning in, placing a small kiss on the corner of your mouth. When he pulls away, it's not far, eyes moving from your lips to your eyes. A hand sits on your waist, your own gripping his shoulders.

"Want to try going around the whole rink?" He talks low.

"After this," you say, leaning back in the a proper kiss. His lips are soft and loving; home.

After what seems like hours of stumbling and falling, you manage to make one round around the ice upright and without holding onto anything. When you circle back to the open rink door, Felix scoops you up into a hug, lifting you off the floor congratulating you. Then, the two of you left, Felix announcing this was only the beginning of the date.

"Really?" You question him as he opens your car door. "Man you should have told me before... I'm too tired to do anything else now..."

You sigh dramatically, leaning your head back, eyes closed. When you get no response, you open one eye to glance over at Felix. He's looking away from you, biting his lip.

"Baby I'm joking!" You turn your body to face him, legs dangling out the car.

"I know," Felix's sad expression breaks when he looks at you smirking. "I can mess with you too, you know."

The two of you giggle as he lifts your legs back into the car, closing your door. This time, he drives for a while, to the outskirts of the city. Water is lit up by the moonlight, the river looking peaceful as ever.

Felix parks the car as close as he can to the water and he once again comes around to open your door. You step out, hand holding Felix's as he guides you to the open trunk. Inside are plush blankets, pillows, and a couple bags of candy.

"Stop it, this is so cute and cozy." You climb in, Felix close behind. From here, you have the perfect view of the stars and moon. "This is perfect."

He blushes at your choice of words, but you can't see, you're too enthralled with the night sky, and he's too enthralled in you. The way the light caresses your face, strands of hair blowing gently in the breeze, eyes lit up and mouth open just the slightest. Everything about you is beautiful, stunning, gorgeous. You're made of stardust, and he's lucky enough to lay his eyes upon your particles.

It's peaceful, just the two of you cuddled up in the back of the car, river splashing in the distance. You can see the stars so much better out here, you realize. At one point, the heat of the car isn't enough and you start shivering again, but Felix is quick to wrap his jacket around your shoulders and tuck you further into the blankets. You're practically falling asleep when Felix nudges you.

"Honey?" He kisses your temple, breathing in your scent. "I know you're enjoying this, and I am too, but its getting really late and we have somewhere else to go still."

"There's more?" You sit up, eyes wide.

"Yes," he laughs deeply again. "Come on now. Let's get going!"

Next, you pull up in front of a small cafe. It looks closed, but in the very back you see a light on. For the third time that night, Felix opens your door and guides you, this time to the door of the cafe. He knocks loudly and you check the time on your phone. 1:08 am, surely nobody's here still. At this time?

But sure enough, an older man greets you at the door like an old friend. He sits you down at a table, saying he'll be right back with your order.

"Our order? We just got in though?"

"I made plans ahead of time," he says. "So everything would be ready by the time we got here."

Before you can reply, the owner is back with a covered dish. He places it on the table, lifting the cover to reveal the fluffiest strawberry cheesecake you've ever seen in your life. While you're busy staring, the owner has left and come back again, placing a strawberry milkshake with two straws in front of you.

"Shut up, this looks and smells delicious." You lick your lips, nearly drooling at the sight.

You watch as Felix cuts you a thick slice, then his own. The two of you eat in silence, savouring the flavours.

"This is the best thing I've ever eaten," you say, stuffing the last bite into your mouth.

When you finish, Felix pulls out a small pouch. He opens it, shaking it into his palm. Out comes a silver necklace with a red strawberry charm.

"Put it on me?" You say, voice barely above a whisper.

And so he does, gently.

The owner had put the rest into a to go box for you, taking the empty milkshake glass away. You both thanked him before leaving, finally heading home.

You stop outside of Felix's house.

"There's one more part."

And for the last time that night, Felix opens your car door and leads you up the steps to the house. He unlocks the door quickly, allowing you to step inside first. The temperature of the house quickly heats you, and you strip off Felix's jacket. Upon entering the house, you see a familiar set of pyjamas folded on a small table to your left; the same ones Felix had bought you for your fake first date.

"Go change," Felix speaks from behind you.

You come back to see Felix in his matching pjs, just like before. And like before, there's a giant pillow and blanket fort in place of a living room. You tug Felix's hand, your turn to guide him down into the blankets.

"Before we settle, I have something for you." Somehow, you were able to smuggle the package into the house without him noticing, now handing it to him. "I wanted to try and make tonight special for you too."

"Anything is special with you," He replies with no hesitation, taking the package in his hands, fingers brushing yours.

Inside is a chicken plushie with a sun embroidered in dark gold thread on the chest. He pulls another out, matching his except for the colour and symbol. This one was pink, with a strawberry replacing the sun.

"You got us matching plushies...?"

You blush.

"I-If you don't like it that's okay-"

"No!" He clears his throat, lowering his voice. "No, I love this. Thank you, Y/N."

He looks at you with love in his eyes, passing you the pink chicken.

"Oh- actually this one is yours," you switch the plushies. "I thought it would be like having each other around when we can't be."

"Y/N..." Felix's heart swells. "That is the cutest thing in the world."

"Pretty sure you are, actually."

"No you-"

"Let's not start," you laugh, running a hand down your face. "We both know we'll go on for hours. Hours we could be spending watching the movies you picked out!"

"How did you know?" Felix leans back.

"This part is just like our first date, just, real this time."

"It was always real for me."

You stare at him, eyes flicking to his lips, then back to his eyes. Your hand finds his.

"Me too."

The movies are over, and the sun is starting to rise. Your head is resting on Felix's chest, feeling the rise and fall off his breathing. His hand is in your hair, lightly scratching your scalp. He thinks you're asleep.

"Y/N... you look so peaceful right now," he starts. "I know you can't hear me... I don't know if I could say this to your face yet though, but, well-" He laughs at himself, failing to form a sentence. "I love you. So fucking much. Never expected you'd fall in love with me too, and I've never been so happy. With you, I never feel bad, only loved. I want you to know I'm here for you, I always will be, through it all. No matter how tough it gets, I'm here for you. This may be too soon but..."

He runs a hand through his hair, leaning his head against yours, nose pressed against the top of your head. This close, he can smell hints of your shampoo.

"Youre my forever." He chuckles lightly, tears forming in his eyes. "Ahh, I'm getting tired and sappy."

Holding you close, he sniffles, controlling his breathing as to not wake you. When he feels you shift, his breathing stops.

"You're..." you whisper softly, barely awake. "My forever too... wanna grow old with you... whack you with my cane for fun..."

Your words make him laugh and his grip on you grow tighter. You manage to stick your head up enough to feel his lips brush your cheek.

With just a slight movement, your lips find his, melting into the kiss. The hand in your hair stills, holding you in place as you find a rhythm. You sigh into the kiss, heart thumping loudly in your ears. Everytime feels like the first with Felix, and you want to scream. Emotion overwhelms you, happy tears in your eyes.

You fall asleep like this, limbs entagled. Two halves of a whole, the sun to your moon, the light in your dark. Nothing can tear you away from one another, not even the end of the world.

CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE ☆ COMING CLEAN

When you look up, your eyes lock with Kai's across the room, who gives you a thumbs up. The backup plan was he'd act like he just came in, notice you, and make up something normal enough to seem believable, rambling while bringing you out leaving no room for questioning. While you feel ready to tell Jake, you have no idea how he'll respond, so an out was needed.

After a few minutes of waiting, someone slides across from you. Your eyes stay on the table, too nervous to look at him. It's been so long... what if you look up and all you see in his eyes is disappointment? Or anger? Or hate?

He could hate you, you think, if he doesn't already, he will after this. Y/N, how could you?

The little voice in your head doesn't stop, breathing becoming shallow. A hand rests softly on your wrist, bringing you back to reality- it's Jake, of course it's Jake.

"Dont listen to the voice," He says softly, eyes knowing. "Just tell me what it is."

"I..." You rub your collarbone with your free hand. "Promise you won't hate me?"

Bewildered, he shakes his head, looking away briefly only to look back more intensely then before.

"Y/N I could never hate you." His voice is low. "You could break my heart into a million pieces, I still wouldn't be able to hate you."

Tears prickle at the edges of your eyes. A waitress is about to approach, but seeing your expression and the way Jake's hand is still resting on yours, she turns to another table. Part of you so desperately wants- no, needs- an interruption.

Kai watches the two of you from afar, wondering if he should step in when he sees your panicked look. But you said wait for the signal, two taps to your right temple.

"C'mon, Y/N, you've got this..." Kai sips his drink, leg bouncing, anticipation coursing through his body.

Your eyes brush over him, but quickly look back to Jake with a deep breath.

"When you told me how you felt, I panicked. I didn't know how to respond, so I..." You break eye contact sheepishly. "I made something up. The boyfriend thing it... wasn't true. At the time, I thought it would hurt you less! Saying I had a boyfriend instead of just saying straight up, 'hey I don't like you like that! Sorry to break it to you!' But I know now how stupid that was-"

"You and Felix though-" Jake takes his hand away finally, and you could see the gears in his brain working. "It was all fake?"

When he looks up at you, you see more confusion than hurt.

"Um, yeah. But it's real now."

"Wait, wait, wait," He holds up his hands in a stopping motion. "What?"

"We were fake dating and now real dating?" You shrug.

There's a beat where no one says anything. Silence heavy, anxiety high, Jake's hands still in the air before suddenly dropping in a laugh.

"How the hell did you manage to actually pull the Lee Felix?!" He shakes his head more, leaning back with a smile on his face. "That's actually- wow. I can't- wow!"

Now you're more confused then ever.

"You're not... mad?

"Mad? No- well, maybe a bit upset you lied, but then I have to think, would I have done different?" Jake pretends he's deep in thought, hand rubbing his chin. "Yeah, probably. But who knows for sure that I wouldn't have faked a girlfriend?"

You laugh, tension easing away slowly.

"I'm sorry for blocking you," Jake's tone turns serious, causing the tightness in your chest to return. "Not my best idea, but I didn't know what to do. It was hard seeing you everywhere, and I needed to clear my head, feel my feelings." He looks away, cheeks flushed. "What if I told you I met someone while we weren't talking? And that she helped me a lot with getting over you? Like talking through stuff, helping me realize I'd rather have you as a friend over anything else... and in the process I may have... fell for her?"

He looks so embarrassed you can't help the giggle that escapes you.

"Oh my god?" You gasp, trying to contain yourself. "That's so- of course you would!"

"What's that supposed to mean?" Jake's cheeks burn a brighter shade of pink.

"Nothing, just- that's so... almost sweet?" A disgusted look crosses your face. "You didn't hear that from me." He laughs. "I'm happy for you, but damn did blocking me hurt. I might need some time before we get back to normal, but this is a good start."

"I totally understand that," A small smile forms on his face. "Why don't we go ahead and finally order? Oh, and tell Kai he can join us."

"You- you knew he was here?!" It was your turn to blush.

"He's kinda hard to hide..."

You both burst into giggles, signalling Kai to join your table.

CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE ☆ DATE NIGHT

"Close your eyes, we're getting close."

You did as Felix said, closing your eyes quickly in excitement. He hadn't told you much up to this point, and you eagerly awaited the reveal to the date. You could feel him parking the car, hearing lots of voices outside the vehicle.

So many questions and scenarios swirled in your head, but it wasn't overwhelming or anxiety inducing in the slightest. Not when it's with Lix. You only felt safe with him.

Felix emerged, quickly going over to your side to open your door. He grabs your hands, careful to help you out, and leads you closer to the noise. It was a mixture of people talking loudly, various beeping noises, and other things you couldn't quite place.

"Okay," He inhaled deeply, standing at your side, still holding one of your hands tightly. "Open them."

To say you were speechless was an understatement.

"The fair?!" You turned to him, barely containing a squeal, holding your clapsed hands up excitedly. "Lix, oh my god! I wanted to go so bad, but Kai said he was working the whole weekend so he couldn't come with. Plus in between streaming..."

You stopped talking when he put his free hand on your shoulder. He was smiling so wide, relishing in your happiness, eyes turning into crescents.

"No work talk tonight! Only fun! Not that our job isn't fun," The two of you laugh. "We are going to win so many prizes and eat so much delicious fair food and go on all the rides. See that stuffed bear?"

Over by a game booth near the middle was the bear he pointed at. It was a huge pastel pink bear with a strawberry embroidered into each of it's paws. The bear screamed Y/N.

"I'm going to win that for you." You looked back at him, his eyes softly looking at the bear, a small smile on his face. Colourful lights lit up his face, and you couldn't help but stare.

"C'mon," You tugged at his arm, breaking your eyes away forcefully. "Let's go!"

After what seemed like hours, you both collapsed on a bench outside the fair. Your feet were sore and your head hurt a bit from all the flashing lights, but none of that mattered. All that mattered was the way your cheeks hurt because you couldn't stop smiling, couldn't stop laughing, the way you felt lightheaded simply by being near the boy next to you. What mattered was the way his eyes watched you when you jumped up and down happily after winning a game, or his blissful expression after taking a bite of the overpriced fair food.

What mattered was that the two of you were together. Fake relationship or not, he made you happy. He washed all the bad thoughts away, even if only for one night.

Hugging the giant bear, you stared at Felix's profile, moonlight accentuating his features. Freckles like stardust, eyelashes fluttered closed in satisfaction. If anyone was the embodiment of pure heart, it was Lee Felix.

Something took over you and you lean over to him, lightly pressing a kiss to his cheek. He startles a bit, looking over to you shyly, a rosh blush dusting his cheeks.

"Sorry." You giggle. "You just looked so peaceful."

"Dont be sorry, I just wasn't expecting it." He fiddles with his rings, smiling at the bench between you.

"Thank you for tonight," You can't help the sudden emotion in your voice. "It was amazing."

"Oh, the night isn't over quite yet."

"Let me gooooo!" You laugh, hands gripping onto Felix's arms around your waist, the only thing holding you from running inside the house.

All the others were kicked out for the night, leaving just you and Felix in the spacious home. You hadn't been over in a while, but it still felt familiar. Through the window into the living room, you could just barely spot string lights.

"Did you get the package I sent?" He asked, unlocking the door.

"Yes," You turn a bit to show him your backpack. "I packed a few things for tonight, just in case, including the pajamas. Very cute, by the way!"

He smiled softly as you entered, making a beeline to the bathroom to change. You only stopped briefly to put down your bear.

In the brief moments you were gone, Felix scrambled to get changed himself. He wore pajamas matching your own, and when you saw, you couldn't help but break into the biggest grin.

"Awwww, Lixie!" You ran up to him from behind, attacking him with a hug.

When you detached, you noticed what it was he was hiding. Instead of the sofa, there was an elaborately made fort of pillows and blankets, some furniture moved around to help support it. Around it and inside were the string lights you spotted, plush blankets lining the ground. You also noticed Felix had moved your strawberry bear inside, sitting against a mountain of pillows and facing an open laptop.

Your mouth hung open. He'd done all of this... for you?

"Do..." He blushed, looking at your reaction carefully. "Do you like it?"

"Like it?" You blurted, then exhaled a laugh. "Lix, I love it. This is the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me on a date- especially a first date."

He watched as you jumped inside, curling up under the blankets and laying on the bears chest. Felix didn't join immediately, too enthralled by you. That is, until he noticed the grabby hands you were making at him, silently asking him to join.

He laid down next to you, closing the opening of the fort and awakening his laptop to start the movie he had planned. He had a marathon lined up of various romcoms he heard you talking about, mixed with ones you mentioned wanting to see.

Being curled up between a giant plush bear and your own personal human heater with your comfort movies in the background made you very drowsy. As if he could sense your eyes fluttering closed, Felix gently laid your head onto his chest, wrapping an arm around you.

"Goodnight, love." He whispered softly, pressing a kiss to your forehead as you drifted to sleep.

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE ☆ MOVIE NIGHT

Later that night, you enter Felix's room quietly, unsure if he had fallen asleep already or not. You saw him shift slightly when you sat down, being extra careful sliding under the covers.

"Y/N?" His voice sounded rough with sleep. "That you?"

"Mhmm," You whispered, turning to face him. "Go back to sleep."

"Wasn't sleeping.." He mumbled, eyes opening slowly. "Was waiting for you."

You blush, thankful for the darkness filling the room.

"You didn't have to-"

"I wanted to," He sits up slightly, resting his head against the palm of his hand. "Just wanted to make sure you didn't take the couch. I'm serious about the stiffness!"

He laughs lightly, and you do too. Something about him made you feel so comfortable, so safe. The two of you stare at each other for a while once the giggles calm down. You could see stars in his eyes, you wouldn't be surprised if he himself were made of stardust, what a beautiful thing.

"I know we haven't really discussed boundaries too much, so you can say no," You look away shyly. "But sometimes I have trouble sleeping when I'm not... holding something. I have a huge collection of plushies for this reason, oh, and because of Kai."

You smile to yourself at the thought. Kai was always getting the two of you matching plushies, feeding into both your addictions.

"You..." Felix processed your words. "You want to cuddle?"

"We don't have to!" You hide your face in your hands, but he pulls them away, a smile gracing his features.

"Come here."

Felix lifts the blanket up, holding out his arms. You somewhat hesitantly shuffle over, resting your head against his chest as he puts an arm down around your waist and one around your shoulders. After a while, you got more comfortable, any tension leaving your body at the way he felt against you.

If this is what it was like to have a fake boyfriend, you could get used to it.

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN ☆ STICKY SITUATION

"You've got this."

Your reflection stares at you unconvinced. How in the world were you supposed to turn Jake down without ruining years of friendship? Sure he was funny, sweet, loving, everything you'd want in a boyfriend, but for you?

The feelings weren't there.

Now, you could send him a text from the bathroom saying you didn't feel well and hope he didn't see you before, or you could face him. The former seemed the more appealing option, if you were honest. However, it was probably best not to prolong this.

Stepping out of the bathroom with a deep breath, you see him. He's in a small booth in the corner, texting someone.

Your phone buzzes.

Hey, how far are you?

Jake looked up at the buzz, locking eyes with you. You give him a small wave, approaching the table and sitting down hesitantly. Sweat ran down your back, and you could feel your chest getting tight. Not now, dammit!

"Hey," Jake avoided your eyes, instead looking down at his hands, fingers fiddling with his rings.

"Jake I-"

"Y/N-"

Finally you look each other in the eye again. The two of you can't help but break into giggles, tension releasing just the slightest.

"I need to say this first before anything else," Jake says more seriously, a turn from the brief laughter. "I don't expect you to like me back like that. Hell, I don't know why I even said that to you!" He groans and uses one hand to cover his face, the other still playing with a ring. "Ugh, I'm such an idiot. Can we pretend it just never happened?"

For a moment you consider it. You could move on, ignoring his declaration of feelings, or you could put him out of his misery. The choices were both unappealing.

"No, actually." It was your turn to look at your hands. "I'm sorry Jake. I don't like you like that, you're right. I love you, as a friend, but-"

The tightness in your chest was back, overwhelming you. You felt guilty, even though you knew you shouldn't. No one can help who they fall for or don't. The stress was becoming too much.

"I-I have a boyfriend!" You blurt, hand immediately slapping your mouth.

Jake's face pales, mouth hanging open.

"What?" He looks almost hurt.

"I-" Think if something, Y/N! "-we haven't been dating long, but I really like him. He wanted to wait to tell people since it's still fresh."

Internally you cringe at yourself and curse your brain for the panic response. A boyfriend? Really? What if he asks who?

"Oh," Jake nods, leaning back. "Look, I'm really sorry, I had no idea. I definitely never would have said anything if I knew. I kind of wish you told me though," He laughs lightly. "What's he like?"

You look at him confused.

"Hey, I'm still one of your best friends!" He puts his hands up. "I need to know if I need to start visiting the gym again. You know, in case he breaks your heart."

Now you laugh, "Don't worry about that, I think Chaeryeong and Ryujin would get to him first. Um, actually I said I'd hang out with them today, so I should probably head out..."

"Oh, okay." Jake stands. "I'm glad we could talk this out."

"Me too."

After leaving, you allow yourself to let out all the anxious energy, furiously whispering to yourself and pulling out your phone.

CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT ☆ MILESTONES

"Honey-" Felix swerved a few people stumbling into his path. "I've been looking for you."

"And I've been looking for you!" You shout over the loud music, rhythm thumping in your chest. "I wanted to see your pretty face."

You laugh at the blush spreading across his freckled cheeks, playfully poking his nose. He smiles shyly, hand snaking down your arm to hold your hand gently.

"You look beautiful."

"I look the same way I always do," You shrug.

"Exactly."

You're about to reply when you're interrupted by shouting to your right. In front of the kitchen island is Jisung, getting right up on top. Chan and Changbin hang nearby, you notice, a knowing smile on your face.

"Can I get everybody's attention pleeeease!" He lifts his cup into the air, other hand holding a microphone. Below him are boxes covered in black sheets, guarded by the other two. "So I know this is a party Jeongin put together to celebrate me hitting one million, which, by the way, I'm so incredibly grateful for! However, I have another announcement." Jisung gestures to Chan and Changbin. "We have an announcement."

Carefully, he steps down from the island, crowd moving out of the way for others to see.

"This Sunday, we're releasing an album that's been in the works for the past months. Our baby," Jisung looks down at his feet, a small smile gracing his features. "You'll be able to find our music on all platforms under the name '3racha', and you'll all be gifted one of these."

Finally, Chan and Changbin move, removing the black sheets off the boxes to reveal multiple copies of their album. A few boxes contain CD'S, and others vinyl records, all of them signed.

An excited cheer goes through the crowd and you couldn't stop smiling. You know how much this meant to your best friend, that it had always been his dream to make music with the people he loved. You want to congratulate him, but as soon as he finished talking, the crowd moved into the island.

"I'm so happy for them!" You turn to look at Felix, but he was already looking at you with stars in his eyes.

"Me too," He nods, smiling wide, leaning in to press a kiss on your cheek.

CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT ☆ T-REX

Kai is at your door in ten minutes.

You used your safe word, "trex" to let him know you needed him right now. All the guilt and fear sat heavily on your chest; you couldn't even cry. Pain settled in your weary body, your eyes falling on the mug you knocked onto the floor and couldn't be bothered to pick up.

First Jake.

Then Han.

Seungmin, Jeongin.

Felix.

You inhaled sharply, barely containing a dry sob. Of all people, he affected you the most. Your feelings did nothing but grow stronger by the day, and now he was gone.

You fucked up.

"Y/N?" A knock at the door, then a creak signaling Kai let himself in. "Oh, Y/N..."

Taking a few steps forward, Kai took in the sight of you. Your hair stuck to the side of your face, blanket drawn up to your chin. He kneeled beside you, taking the hand that was clutching the couch cushion for dear life in his own, his thumb rubbing your knuckles. The simple gesture broke something in you and the second you locked eyes with your best friend, the tears wouldn't stop.

"Kai I-" You choke out, gripping his hand tightly. "Why am I like this?"

Next thing you know, you're enveloped in the warmest, most loving hug, forcing you to sit up just a bit. You could hear Kai soothing you, one hand rubbing your back, the other on your head. He knew one way to calm you down was by a simple hug, reassuring you he was there.

Once you could breathe and the thunderstorm of emotion was a mere drizzle, Kai pried himself away from you, looking you in the eyes with a firm expression.

"Y/N I can't say none of this is your fault," Your heart sank. "But everything with Jake? That started all this?" He shook his head. "Yeah, maybe saying you had a boyfriend wasn't the greatest move... no buts. Jake needs to learn to deal with his feelings, and if space from you is what it takes, then so be it. Sometimes you are the problem."

"I fail to see how this is supposed to help, Kai." Sitting up now, you cross your arms at him.

"General you, use your brain." Now you can't help but smile at him, sniffing and wiping your nose with your sleeve. "The point is, you can't please everyone all the time Y/N, and you're not responsible for other people feelings and how they deal with them. The only thing you're responsible for is how you react. Sometimes people hurt you, sometimes you hurt them. Right now, you need to acknowledge the pain you've caused and apologize."

You look down.

That's something you love about Kai-- he tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear, no matter how hard. He tells you when you mess up, but he'll also be your shoulder to cry on. He was your closest friend.

"Can I use your phone?" You ask.

"Why, yours not working?" He rolls his eyes with a small smile

"It is," You playfully smack his arm. "I just don't think anyone will pick up if they see it's me."
