           adora feels a blush creep over her cheeks. the horde demands uniformity. when you break that view, what does it make you? she presses her face into calloused palms. she’s not supposed to like anything except for absolute victory let alone someone. especially not when the someone in question is a girl.

            there’s clear and obvious relief in her relaxing shoulders. maybe she’s not alone, maybe there’s other people in the horde who feel the same heart palpitations that she does.  the warmth in their core when another girl’s fingers running over the back of her hand. 

             the word lesbian is whispered in the halls of the fright zone, with disgust and terror. but adora holds it in her ribs, safely between her and catra. far from the furies of shadow weaver. catra feels the same. another life experience to share, to help them together even when shadow weaver’s cold shadowy fingers reach behind and try to uproot their baby gay lives. it would not work because they were stronger together, they would be always been stronger together.

              perhaps that explains why the wheezing hurts worse than normal. it had been easy to ignore transformed as she ra. but now that the sword is tucked safely back in it’s scabbard her torso is on fire. adora’s face scrunches, trying to keep the pain off of her wrinkled brow while glimmer was near by.

                the last thing that the rebellion needs for people to see her hurt. it’s much of a morale kick. as much as they are trying to work together right now. the loss of entrapta is fresh and heavy in everyone’s hearts. she ra injured might be enough to scare them, probably not but it’s a risk she’s not willing to try. 

                 still she knows the risk of overdoing it is way greater to the rebellion than a momentary morale loss. trying to keep the groans in her throat. she tuns to him, voice hushed with pain.
