@snowsoftime 😖 Unfortunately I'm like the worst person to ask this question because I have bizarrely specific preferences and have had almost no luck finding fics that fit them in a fandom this small, rip. I've had to resort to writing my own fics. 167k and no end in sight. 😩
That being said, I did like this Kubokai fic I randomly encountered, and I really enjoy some of @oatmealcrisp-freak's lighter fare like Single.
I think @akirameta84 has read like all of the fics out there tho, so she may be able to steer you towards stuff that fits your interest?

“Asgore’s parent sold him when he was a kid.
We met him at the arena where my brother and I were captured. He freed us and we had to thank him for that. We thought that maybe this little monster was lost and wanted to find his way home. We didn’t know that he had no “HOME” at this time ...
We spend 3 months walking and following his directions hoping that we would find his parents ... turns out he gave us wrong indications making us walking arround in circle. He did that to stay with us because didn’t have anywhere to go.
I was mad at him for lying to us, but in the end, I understood and told him that he didn’t have to lie if he wanted to live with Shaa and me.
Since I met him, one of Asgore’s dream was to build his own house, a safe place for him and his family,
a place he could call Home”

Memory 18 : Fears
“Every monster has what we call a “soul weapon”, a weapon based on your feeling and beliefs. No matter how good you are with magic, you can summon one. It usually takes the form of a common weapon : sword, spear, trident, hammer, axe, etc...
Boss monsters get to have a second one, a second soul weapon that appears later in life. This second one takes a really special form based on your life and your experiences.
For me, it took the form of enhanced claws, representing the struggles I had forging my own life with my bare hands after the incident with my family. I had nothing, and I had to fight every monsters with only my paws to be respected and own the title of “King of the Underground”
The second soul weapon is a double-edged sword, you can either have a weapon symbolizing one of your greatest success, or a reminder of your worst nightmare.”

Memory 20 : The Edge
“Ömen and I know about Asgore’s black eyes since we met him. He lost control multiple times, but we always managed to bring him back before bad shit happens.
Recently, Toriel’s father, Honoré, told us that there is something called “the edge” it’s a state between the black eyes and the normal state, somewhere where the boss monster has control of his actions while having the strength and agility of the black eyes.
Ömen wanted Asgore and Toriel to be able to fight while being on the edge, being incredibly strong while being in total control of their actions. Unfortunately, the edge is very unstable, to be there, you need to control your emotions with an iron fist and not let them take over you, otherwise, you would just have the black eyes and go insane.
I don’t want to mess with that and for once, I don’t agree with Ömen. This edge thing is dangerous, the black eyes are dangerous. Last time they lost control, they were teenagers and they managed to almost kill 2 trained murderers...
Now that they are stronger and older, I don’t want to imagine what would happen if those adult boss monsters lost control again...”
