shiggy fluff cause he deserves all the love // inspired by @aslutforfictionalmen's post (here's my interpretation, i also spontaneously wrote this @/3am so his quirk may have been erased not his trauma tho)
āāThere is no reason to be wearing thatāā You laugh as you look at him.
Tenko in a suit has to be the funniest thing youāve ever seen. āāIt's just a drive-in movie theaterāā You tease and he scoffs.
āāYeah well I canāt win, can I? Tracksuits are too casual, I remind you of a busker, remember? And whatās wrong with that by the way, you wish you had their talentāāā
āāEnough, weāre running lateāā You cut him off but canāt hide your smile when heās all annoyed lecturing you in a fucking suit.
The movie chosen was clichĆ©, borderline comical especially when youāre accompanied by a tall man with questionable appearance. How you even convinced him to join you is beyond comprehension, most likely because you promised him to play Nintendo Switch, his latest obsession. Youād play with him regardless, a man with a childhood lost, robbed from things you experienced firsthand at a younger age but Tenko couldnāt really see it. You on the other hand recognized it, and through small acts (annoying as such because for some inexplicable reason he always lost to you) you showed him everything heād missed.
āāI wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you everyday for a year!āā
Ryan Gosling says as you feel a hand squeeze yours tightly, shoulders touching as the night sky glows above the projector. You turn to look at him confused, The Notebook was one of those films youād seen a million times, failing to evoke powerful emotions after some time but it was still a very satisfying rewatch. Tenko turns his head.
āāWhatās wrong?āā You say, anxious he might be having another panic attack. You knew how to calm him down but never the extent of it and that scared you.
āāItās nothingāā He whispers, his voice is composed, you note, good.
āāYes... it wasn't over, it still isn't over..āā Gosling continues.
āāCan you believe he wrote to her all this time? This is so fucking cruel!āā he almost shouts, as a couple of heads turn to look at him annoyed.
āāOh my god, are you crying over the movie right now?āā You want to burst out laughing but the stares warn you otherwise, both your tones too loud. You canāt believe what a sucker for romance he is, he always acts all tough but ends up being hungry for love anywhere he can find it. You kind of get it, it also kind of breaks your heart.
āāIām so posting thisāā You tease as he wipes his eyes clean with a tissue he had in his pocket.
āāI swear to god if you donāt shut the fuck upāā His voice is shaky but his eyes are glued to the scene, anxious for whatās coming next. Will they make up? Maybe even make out, have sex? Poor him, heās unprepared for the bittersweet end.
-
The drive back home is silent, you take it heās still thinking about the film, contemplating its ending, unsure whether he likes it or not.
āāSooo.. did you like it?āā
āāIt was okāā He feigns indifference and you donāt continue. You allow him to ponder before speaking up, he almost always adds something on his own.
āāI just think itās funny she married the other guy, you know.āā He says.
āāWhat was she supposed to do? She didnāt know about the letters, remember?āā
āāStill, if she really loved him, she shouldāve waited, shouldāve been alone, grieved on her own. How could she do this?āā He asks as you sigh.
āāItās just a film and people make mistakes. You never know until you tell them.āā
This time he doesnāt continue.
-
āāSo what do you want to do?āā You ask once youāve arrived home, itās already past midnight but both of you are too lively for sleep.
āāYou promised Nintendoāā He reminds you and you sigh. Not your favorite part of the day but you silently take a seat next to him on the couch.
3 rounds of Mario Kart racing on the Nintendo Switch and Tenko is losing consecutively as he whines frustrated: āāEnough!āā
āāI just donāt understand why youāre always losingāā You tell him, as far as you know he was unlocking the game levels with ease on his own.
āāI donāt know, shit, you ask way too many questions todayāā he complains, āāIāll go change, this suit is itching the fuck out of meāā he continues as you get up.
He finds you scrolling on your phone, a towel wrapped around him, droplets falling from his hair, which he mustāve aggressively ruffled (in failed efforts to dry) as he literally drops his body onto yours, scaring you and making you drop your phone.
āāTenko, fuck agh!āā you groan, āāmy phone!āā
He was so annoying and on top of that soaking your shirt too.
āāIām sorryāā he smiles, he wasnāt really sorry, he missed you, he thought. Even though you were together the whole day, he still missed you. So much. He couldnāt get enough of you, any moment shared only made him more anxious for your next departure, he wished he could somehow glue you to his skin forever.
You playfully slapped his arm and he retaliated, pinching your nose as you pouted.
āāDonāt poutāā he warned, āāI'll bite you.āā But you didnāt listen. He brought his mouth to yours as his teeth sunk on your lower lip, pulling at it and letting it out softly.
āāOuch, you douche!āā You fake pain but he knows he didnāt actually hurt you, he could never.
There was a moment where neither of you did anything, mustāve been less than a minute, before he leaned closer, mouths in close proximity as he noticed your eyes shut.
I want to kiss her, he thought and he did. Soft lips brought to yours, as you immediately kissed him back, cupping his wet neck and bringing his face even closer, deepening the kiss. His arms quivered, threatening to make him lose his balance and fall on top of you, he lost himself every time you kissed him.
His hand slid down your waist, positioning you higher on the couch as your hungry mouth searched for his again, needy breaths escaped your lips, a sight that made him feel the all too familiar pain in his groin, a towel was still draped around him and you were still in your outside clothes.
A peak across the room showed him the window curtains open.
āāGive me a minute, babyāā He said as he got up to close them, returning to you with his arms stretched out, ready to move this somewhere more comfortable.
ā
He was awakened by an asleep arm, your weight had fallen on it and he felt numb.
He gently tried to remove it but you moved around and whispered in a raspy voice, god, how much he loved that voice.
āāWhat is it?āā Your tone sounded anxious, were you afraid something was going to happen to him? Could it be that you cared that much?
Without a word he shushed you.
āāItās all right, go back to sleepāā he said moments later, a pain in his chest since he couldnāt tell you that actually yes, there was something on his mind.
āāYou know, you have to tell people how you feel, remember?ā You spoke so wisely, even after an interrupted slumber and he couldn't help but smile.
āāI know baby, goodnightāā He said as you sighed and turned around.
For Tenko could not tell you that nothing compared to this, nothing like doing nothing with you and to admit this to himself was a big liability. He would tell you eventually, maybe heād write it down, he found it easier, but on that day he chose to wrap his arms around you again, risking numbness, than to speak the words.

Long live the king, Godzilla
For years, I like to say it like,Ā āLong live the fucking kingā to sound cooler ever since they were using that line. But well, itās been years since I rewatched Godzilla King of the Monsters. The 2019 film thatās a sequel to Godzilla 2014...I have some things to say which may surprise some of you.
This may sound crazy or just...I was hoping to just gush about this film. Because the many times I would talk about this film and calling it one of the greatest cinematic experiences in my life. A film I have seen four times in the theaters. And saying things like I think this film spoiled me when I felt Godzilla vs Kong felt tame andĀ āLess epicā which says a lot...
But rewatching the film just now...I think experiencing it in a theater, and maybe the hype really got me. Again, I feel like experiencing this in a theater is the best thing ever. But now, years later...I can understand much more why people donāt like the Monsterverse itself.
I will spoil some stuff, not a whole lot. Because I know a friend of mine reads my reviews. Mainly that Bioshock one from long ago. Iām going to start off with the negative before I go into the positives. I feel like thatās better to do because I want to explain what issues I had with this film. Iām going to add a keep reading option as well.
But and I didnāt add this last night because I forgot. I went to bed, and I canāt add another keep reading option. I like Filmento and he brings up a lot of good points that I agree with.
Anyway, hereās my detailed review.
The negatives.
This film, like I have seen others said before...THIS FILM NEEDED TO BE THREE HOURS. Which may sound insane. But this filmās pacing is very bothersome. And this goes in hand with another thing that bothered me.
You know all of the complains about Godzilla 2014 of how it kept cutting away from the monster fights at times. Which it started to annoy people. I totally get that; I get the criticisms towards that. But I also understood Gareth Edwards wanted to retrain himself from showing too much of the monsters.Ā https://twitter.com/CallMeJaiden54/status/1637358513449209857Ā Granted, I get why people were annoyed. Maybe a balance wouldāve been better.
But KOTMās pacing...really doesnāt help with a bunch of things. Because like others have said before. This is basically like the Godzilla Final Wars for the American Godzilla movies. And Final Wars is a kickass movie I may add. Now I want to say this funny part.
If they wanted to make it even more of a Final Wars comparison. We shouldāve gotten Mark fighting Jonah in a physical fight, while Mark is beating down Jonah, you see Godzilla beating down on Ghidorah on a still working tv. You couldāve had that, and I strangely wouldāve loved it. But back to the point.
The fact that this filmās pacing goes very quick, despite itās alright...there are moments of character building. But I feel this doesnāt help the monsters and some character development. Even though I think me gushing over Godzilla 2014 was also the result of seeing a movie before that made me question what is happening to cinema. And Godzilla 2014 reminded me cinema was real again.
But the buildup to the MUTOās and Godzilla is excellent. You get the feeling of horror, wonder and other feelings. While I do think it makes sense you donāt have to wait for long to reintroduce Godzilla because we already know him. Itās weird to talk about.
2014ā²s slow pacing really helps easing a viewer into the story. Even if itāsĀ āBoringā and while the reveal of Ghidorah, Mothra and Rodan are fantastic. Especially with their scores, I feel theyāve couldāve done better. Because in a way...it doesnāt feel special. In fact, while Brad Peytonās Rampage is flawed. Even that took some time to build up certain aspects and it didnāt have to deal with multiple characters.
Thereās a crap ton of new characters in here and some kind of stick around even when they donāt need to be there. And thatās a critique I agree with the Monsterverse. We need a consistent cast. While I get a post and others saying the monsters are the stars. But thatās not an excuse...because when you donāt have a consistent cast or have a couple of characters not come back. You have to introduce a bunch of new characters and if they arenāt handled right, itās weird.
And again, that pacing. It doesnāt help character development, and it doesnāt help with the impact of certain things when you go at such a fast pace. It legit hurt the film for me. Because thereās a lot of things I like here. It may sound crazy I want a 3-hour cut of this movie, but I want that. This is a film that deserves that. And it wouldāve helped me appreciate some of the big and emotional moments too.
Now, I want to talk about the positives. Granted, youāll still hear me talk about some criticisms. But I want to get to this part.
As someone whoās loved Godzilla since I was a kid. It was mainly the Showa and Millennium eras that got me into becoming a fan. And this was my biggest positive when this film first came out. This may sound strange, but seeing the way Ghidorah, Mothra and Rodan were handled in this film. To me, it felt like if you were watching a Spider-Man and Batman film for the first time. And you see that iconic comic book character treated with dignity and respect. That was the feeling I had when I saw these monsters for the first time.
While you still had the sci-fi aspect in them. The direction is moreĀ āMythologicalā in a way, more so a feeling when handling these characters. āSpirtualityā is the word Iām looking for. While I can understand why people, or one person may think these three wereĀ āNerfedā but Iām sorry. NO, THEY WERE NOT NERFED. And I canāt agree with hearing that their roars areĀ āGenericā like what the fuck?
Godzilla is portrayed wonderfully again with respect. Heās great as well. But the new monsters, the Toho ones are fucking beautiful. This filmās portrayal of Ghidorah is legitimately my favorite of his interpretations. While Rodan couldāve had more with him, he is dealt with properly.
But I feel like the big glow up is literally Mothra herself. A character while not my favorite, I always preferred the moreĀ āAggressiveā andĀ āMasculineā monsters you can say. But Mothra is important and the fact they were able to handle her so well in this film. While I feel like Ghidorah and Rodan were easier characters to get right. They knocked it out of the park with Mothra. They all ooze personality and their themes are legit perfect for each of them.
I want to talk about the human characters. This is actually my favorite group of human characters in the Monsterverse. And I was saddened only two of them came back for Godzilla vs Kong. Granted, I think I wanted Godzilla vs Kong to be Godzilla 3 but with King Kong. It still technically is a Godzilla 3, but with Kong more as the lead monster.
While the pacing hurts the film. The cast of Monarch here is genuinely likable. And I wished for some they were expanded upon more. With some acting more like supporting roles, and I shouldnāt use the word āNPCsā to describe them. That is a term I have wanted to use for some time. My favorites of the new characters were Rick (Who is legit funny when he is) and Chen. Also, kind of wished Barnes was showed more or just...thereās a lot of new characters here that you may lose track of them if you donāt have subtitles on or havenāt seen the film multiple times like I have before. But seriously, I liked Chen and thatās because of well...lore reasons that I wished she had more to do.
I also want to say this. I think Mark Russell, played by Kyle Chandler is maybe the human protagonist weāve had in an American Godzilla film. Even though I think Ford was fine, heās more of a āPassiveā character. When Mark is a more active protagonist. While a flawed character devastated by the loss of his son. He is at his core a good man who still loves his daughter and ex-wife. Especially when you have moments like him going into the Artic base by himself the moment he sees Emma and Madison on footage and risking his life to find them. Along with a strong moment that still stuck with me is him going back to save a group of Monarch soldiers being left behind, despite he could have the chance to follow his family. There are other little moments like he still talks to Madison in emails. His arc is pretty fine.
Madison played by Millie Bobby Brown is fine. But her biggest moment is her stealing the Orca and using it to save billions of lives during the whole Titans attacking across the world. I donāt think thereās much of an arc for her. But itās more of well, her making her own choices and well...this leads into the next part.Ā
Emma is...an interesting character. Sheās fine as an antagonist who then changes because she realizes what sheās done. I feel like it couldāve been done better. But knowing there is a deleted scene where...Iāll link them.Ā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQmVLpKgmGIĀ Fuck, these deleted scenes are good.
Itās funny to me seeing the fandom having Godzilla and Mothra be MadisonāsĀ āParentsā but again, while Mark is flawed. That dude at mostly has his priorities straight.
We also have Charles Dance as Alan Jonah who I want to see again. Heās threatening when he is and commands a presence. Heās good with what heās given.
I now want to talk about Serizawa, particularly his scene. I do agree that his character in the 2014 film, heās a bit underdeveloped. But in all seriousness, his sacrifice to basically save Godzilla is still powerful. Itās legitimately one of the best scenes in the film. Ken Watanabe is always good with his performances. But what I hate about this is the fact while we shouldāve gotten more development with him. Itās the fact we canāt use him again. And having watched this video yesterday.Ā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1ciSG9Z8o4
Iāll admit, I have wanted to make a reblog talking about how the 2014 movie could still have the similar story but making Ford less passive or something and make him as compelling as his father or something. And annoyed by people possibly wantingĀ āGodzilla vs Heisenbergā despite how much of a good actor Bryan Cranston is. But that video...I genuinely wished that was the approach they take with Joe Brody instead. Weād still have Serizawa around, especially in Godzilla vs Kong. And having Joe sacrificing himself instead wouldāve been just as powerful for not only reasons this video talks about. But also, other things I have wondered about.
There are other characters to talk about. But nothing really noteworthy in ways. Despite the sad fact you have Graham being killed all of a sudden by Ghidorah in one scene. And the colonel from the last film being killed in a deleted scene. Thereās a trend with the characters from the 2014 film being killed off in this film.

Mike's Media Medley--April 2024
henlo and welcome to my monthly diary review thing where i talk about movies/shows/games i experienced for the first time this month. there are a lot of things i watch/play throughout the year that i really like but don't ever get the opportunity to talk about due to the restrictions of my 7 game/7 movie restrictions on my end of year list + the fact i limit movies to 2024 releases. this list encompasses movies and games from any time period that i watched or played for the first time ever this month.
feel free to reply to this post with things you think i should watch or play!
here are some things i watched and played for the very first time this april:
2024 movie/show releases: Monkey Man, Civil War, Abigail, Fallout
non-2024 movie/show releases: Alien (1979), My Octopus Teacher (2020), The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (2023)
games: fallout 3 (2008), the battle of polytopia (2016), let's build a zoo (2021), mineko's night market (2022)
my thoughts on all of them below, in alphabetical order--movies/shows first, then games:
Abigail (2024)
this movie was honestly pretty fun. enjoyed it more than i was expecting tbh, i used my membership tuesday price on this cuz i did not feel like paying full price for a ticket to see this. kind of thought it would be just dumb "ooh evil kid" shock horror
and like. don't get me wrong it is definitely ooh evil kid horror but the twist is given relatively early with only minor padding for a bigger twist later. thought it was decently funny and it works well enough as a singular movie but i don't see it warranting a sequel which the ending might be building up to. and though it was fun everything was like. Fine. directing was fine. acting was fine. music was fine. probably would not see it again but did not hate my decision watch it
60/100
Alien (1979)
YES this is really my first time seeing Alien, i am pretty unfamiliar with basically everything about Alien, nothing i say will probably be new
first off the sound was like. really quiet? and idk if it's because my theater had the volume too low or if that's the way it was mixed--it is an old movie after all--but i couldn't hear a lot of the dialogue and i feel like it would've boosted my enjoyment of the movie a lil more but i did really like it
specifically the art direction and set design. the alien planet and the ship, the fossilized skeleton on that big chair all with this really distinct weird black mechanical look that is also like. weirdly alive. and how that extends to the nostromo having parts of it as the movie progresses that looks like the alien. biomechanical is i think the word for it? its awesome. epic, even. makes u paranoid
big fan of the directing as well. very claustrophobic at some scenes. the refusal to show you the alien in full for a while. reaction shots instead of direct sight of the gore and horror (the cat when the janitor dies, ripley hearing parker and lambert die as she runs)
the thing that detracts from the movie for me is the sexual violence undertones. just simply not a fan
p good, might need to rewatch with subtitles to appreciate a bit more once i understand the actual plot lmfao. also this movie is very sweaty just like love lies bleeding. maybe i like sweaty movies. 80/100
(more under the cut)
Civil War (2024)
this movie was not very good
i was not going to see it and then i heard that it was less a typical war movie from the perspective and soldiers and shit that it was more about war correspondence and that piqued my interest as someone who used to want to be a journalist. turns out it's not even that much about war correspondence either. the main characters are war photographers but it all feels like. pretty surface level?
not to mention i understand the intent of keeping the politics of a theoretical civil war part 2 vague so as to not actually incite any specific kind of rage or controversy from either side but like. its a civil war movie. about war correspondence and photography.
the emotional hook of the movie just does nawt work for me. the young photographer lady is incredibly dumb. why does she do the things she does. why does she jump between the cars like that when she's so obsessed with the main lady. i had other gripes with her but i dont even remember all of them because this movie is already a distant memory. the bonding between them does nothing for me and just feels really forced and corny.
that being said there are some nice shots in this movie. it's well-directed but the sound design is really fucking carrying. all of the gunshots are LOUD and impactful and i think that really helps with the conflict where the wishy washy centrist politics fail.
30/100. not the worst movie ive ever seen but i would not watch it again.
Fallout (2024)
yeah yeah the show is really good. acting is good all across the board. was fun seeing the fun references / easter eggs to fallout. i was particularly interested in norm's side of the plot and lucy was a really refreshing protagonist. i think maximus was the weakest of the main plotlines but i'm hoping they go somewhere with his darker side because while i think it was the weakest i think he has the most potential
like lucy and the ghoul are pretty squarely set on their own sides with their own clear morals (or karma, good and evil) but maximus is someone who wants to be a good person but is often just. not good at being a good person. he's naive and not very competent at his job tbh but is still being heralded as a new wave of the brotherhood of steel. very interested to see where all that goes.
enjoyed it a ton. 85/100
Monkey Man (2024)
dev patel really made a movie about the healing power of trans people and he's awesome for that
good action flick with some scathing political commentary that i wish i was more well-versed on indian politics to say something substantial about but i could Feel the contempt for modi/the bjp and hindu nationalism as a whole
it's shot & edited sooooooo frenetically and i think this works a lot of the time HOWEVER at some points it is like. an active detriment. i never really feel nauseous when movies use shaky cam but this movie's camera is not just shaking. that shit is rocking. vibrating. particularly when he's outrunning the police thats when it gets Bad
otherwise i really enjoyed it. the action hits. the aesthetics and cinematography are probably my favorite of everything i watched this month! that being said i probably wouldn't watch it again just because i'm not the type to rewatch action movies like these i think ive only ever seen john wick the one time
75/100
My Octopus Teacher (2020)
it was fine. it's a documentary idk i don't have much to say. doesn't really feel right rating it but i watched it and the visuals were breathtaking but like it doesnt rly have a plot or anything. its neat. nice background thing to put on while you do something else
The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (2023)
yeah yeah. unique color palette and color grading. directed well to suit the framing device. everyone and everything is smartly positioned onscreen.pretty good performances from people who have to just dump like 60 lines of dialogue on you all at once. yall know this one is good its wes anderson go watch it its 40 minutes long
75/100
video games:
The Battle of Polytopia (2016)/Let's Build a Zoo (2021)
putting both of these games here because i really don't have a lot to say about them, i played them both very briefly. in let's build a zoo's case, literally for five minutes. the battle of polytopia was boring and after like two runs i was like ok welp that's it for me. i did play the mobile version so that might be part of the problem but idk i don't think the gameplay loop would've grabbed me even if expanded. let's build a zoo had atrocious UI and controls on console and i immediately got pissed off trying to build an enclosure and uninstalled
Fallout 3 (2008)
i am not immune to propaganda
is this game good? not really but my favorite elder scrolls game is oblivion so you should know i, for one, love bethesda jank. love walking around in a big ass world full of weird people and discovering places and just taking a look around. frankly i don't care if i died five times to the same pack of super mutants. i'm having a good time.
not super deep into the main story and have only completed about ten quests but i'm into it
Mineko's Night Market (2022)
man i like. really wanted to like this game. it has a really cute art style and a good sense of humor, and i like management and sim games. unfortunately it just failed to grab me. i had a chuckle or two for the first hour i played but after that i was just really bored running around looking for flowers and i quit before i even got to attend the actual night market. i played it through my dad's gamepass and i usually end up quitting games quickly due to buying them on steam and needing to decide if i like them or not under 2 hours. otherwise i try not to quit games that early unless they're super boring or glitchy/unplayable. unfortunately even without that time limit looming over my head it just wasn't really doing anything for me.
if u got this far into reading this i love u

Once again, I want to point out that spoilers don't ruin the story, they ruin the experience.
A story likely won't be ruined by a good twist or surprise. Heck, it's what makes the story strong as you see all the ways the writers cleverly led up to that twist.
The only thing being cheated out of by a spoiler is the experience. To see a story with fresh eyes and getting to witness all these big moments WITH the characters. Some people might not get that, which is fine. Some either want to know if there are any triggers in it that studios neglected or if what they're trying to get invested in is FULLY worth it. There's some logic there...I don't get that logic aside from the triggers thing, but I can admit that there's logic. The problem is that most people don't want to know all the juicy details unless they experience them themselves for the first time. The experience is far more important than the story, at least on an initial viewing, and if it's good enough they would want to rewatch it again to see how well the story holds up. And nine times out of ten, the story holds up REALLY WELL. If you want spoilers, there are circles online where people can TALK about them, or sections to posts and videos that have a cut off to discuss spoilers, all to keep the experience safe.
Now, to be fair, there ARE some people in Spoiler Culture who need to relax about what counts as a spoiler. A character saying a randomly funny line doesn't ruin the experience and knowing the GENERAL PLOT of the story isn't a spoiler either. Not to mention that there's a usual time-frame in regards to spoilers and when it's considered okay to talk about them.
If it's an episode of a TV Show, it's fine to mention spoilers a WEEK after an episode's premier. Because if you couldn't watch an episode within a week before the NEXT one comes out, it's kind of on YOU at that point.
In regards to a movie, it's safe to wait about three weeks after it came to theaters. Not everyone can afford to watch the movie the day of it comes out, or even the first week. Some actually have to save their money, wait for a day off from work, or organize a perfect time to go with friends or family. Some might not even get those three weeks, but if you're a person who still wanted to watch the movie AND went online to see people talk about it, it's still kind of on you.
And that's another thing both sides of Anti-Spoilers and Pro-Spoilers need to agree on: The understanding of communication. If you want to talk about spoilers, then at least tag posts or mention as soon as you can that there will be spoilers, regardless of how major or minor. And if you want to avoid spoilers, then what the hell are you doing online? Specifically, what are you doing online within the same circles of people who are talking about this thing you want to see with fresh eyes? If you want to avoid spoilers, then avoid these conversations entirely until you've experienced the story yourself.
What I'm getting at is that, no, spoilers don't ruin the story. They ruin the experience for people who want to go in blind, but those same people need to get priorities straight over what counts as a spoiler and need to learn when it's okay to talk about spoilers.

Ugh, seeing the Eleven quote in your ask reply makes me very emotional. I just recently (as in, end of June) started rewatching the series, since I hadn't been able to watch it for several years. I have a very long list of favorite quotes, and there's a good number of Doctor Who quotes on there, and yes, that one from Eleven is one of my favorites even out of my favorites.
Who is your favorite Doctor? And companion? Favorite episode? Sorry for getting all excited in your inbox, I just don't really know anyone who watches / has watched the show, and I have a lot of thoughts about it.
~Morriš”ļø (@memento-morri-writes)
(P.S. - the next episode on my rewatch is The Day of the Doctor (aka, the 50th anniversary episode), and that one is probably my favorite, so I'm not sure if I want to watch it as soon as possible and love it, or drag my feet about it so I can savor it. I should probably not watch it until Friday, since I only have one class that day, and I should focus on getting stuff actually done for college.)
I love Doctor Who so much, I started watching it probably ahhh, twelve or eleven years ago now? By the time I caught up I was actively watching the Pondsā Amy and Rory leaving were the first companion farewells I experienced with everyone else.
Nine is a big favorite of mine due to him being my first doctor, but I can say pretty certainly that Twelve is my standing all-time favorite. I think Peter Capaldi just emulates the Doctor so much (they all do), and the way he delivers each episode gets me so much. Favorite companion though is Rose, hands down š¤ thatās my girl, I love her to pieces, sheās one of my favorite characters of all time. Favorite episode though,,,,,I have so many,,,but Waters of Mars, Midnight, and Listen all come to mind pretty quickly. I did go see The Day of the Doctor in the theater though with my friend š„ŗ
But yeah, Doctor Who is super special to me and I keep meaning to rewatch a lot and catch up with Thirteen (Iāve seen half a season of her I think); I used to blog about it a TON on main, and I still do as it comes along my dash/when I find a new creator and go through all their work. Itās one of my all time favorite pieces so much, and for me it really just encapsulates so much of the unending wonder and possibility for it in the universe.
Itās like you said: I also have so many favorite quotes from it š youāre welcome to come into my inbox anytime, here or at @shireduchess

hi back from eating lunch going back to gushing about vl ughhwughhh it's so cute i love seeing the backstage footage and all the actors being friends with each other making their roles' chemistry so energetic and believable like Taniguchi (Dojima) and Masami (Adachi) were part of the same theater group at the time making it okay for Taniguchisan to beat his partner to death (he left somehwere in 2016 but recently was the lead role for one of Masamisan's productions).
Baba's (protag) leadership as his character and an experienced actor really brought people together like he was discussing the script with them so intently and his dynamics with other people and their characters was just so /clenches fist/
They never got an actor for Nanako or Teddie because there werent any suitable girl actors or some white boy to fill in the suit but Kappei and mascots' performances were absolutely great . Rewatching this after playing the Arena series and plot device "Rise too busy she's only appeared in calls or navi voice" reminded me of how MISERABLE she was throughout the duology but her peppiness during team discussion and heart to heart with Yuuya alone felt a lot like Rise. Minami and Risa's natural chemistry too wughh they did Chie and Yukiko so well.
Yosuke mourning over Saki's death STILL made me cry like they referenced this in the opening montage and near the end of the play and girl had three minutes of stagetime and a dream. Kou and Daisuke were just . I am so happy they were there. Subplot of goofing around with Kou's crush on Chie and all the time he was near her he kept slipping up and his chances to confess just getting muddied over when the whole fruit salad just walks into the same corridor.
Then there was uh. Daisuke's broken leg era . The way some bullies from another school got him to break his leg but his passion for soccer was still strong, just practicing whenever he can and assuring Kou he's totally fine when he's out there asking the police (Adachi...) to help him find the bullies that hurt him. And Yuuya just. there. but they were all bros like in the social links and it's just so so touching and stupid.
Kou attempt 1928462 to confess to Chie which was before fighting Shadow Mitsuo again and while he never really got to express his feelings, hearing Chie go 'i'm training to be strong to protect the people i love' and he says 'good luck' inevitably getting friendzoned again
Dojima's sl issues of taking care of Nanako as a detective and realizing hes running away from it all making excuses and Yuuya just there to be his little brother figure reminding him hes a pillar of support and as someone currently taking care of Nanako he wants Dojima to reconnect with her too.
Then theres uh. whatever the hell's going on with Adachi. Whatever
The IT's reaction to securing Mitsuo but most of them getting so pissed hes still trying to admit he's the killer like the stage is great i can see him getting lifted up with the weight of grapes while Kanji sneers at him in 7 different angles and Yuuya's professionalism and compassion to still help Mitsuo off the ground and get him to turn himself in peacefully. Also his weirdo meter is up to 11 compared to all the other protags .king shit.

It's telling maybe, that I came back to Leverage for the family (and Sophie, undisputed queen of my heart forever and ever) and the ships that I love. But on rewatch, Sophie and Hardison's platonic relationship really stands out so preciously to me, despite it never really being a main focus of the show. Take The Gold Job, for instance.
It's primarily a Hardison episode, and the primary relationship in play is Hardison and Nate. It's about who Hardison is becoming professionally, but it's also about his relationship with the guy who's his boss and a father figure (and I can do a whole separate post on Nate as a father figure in another post). And yet what draws me in so much in this episode is the relationship between Sophie and Hardison.
This is her reaction at the beginning when he takes the team to task for not appreciating his role. Nate dismisses him (more on that later), Eliot's #overit, Parker's trying to make an awkward situation less awkward, and Sophie is the one who comes out and says that it's not that they don't appreciate him. They just don't always understand what he does.
When he effectively goes on strike, she's the only one shooting him encouraging glances. I think the rest of the team knows that this is ultimately a Hardison and Nate thing that they're working out, but the problems Hardison points out with Nate's style over the episode are like, very true and very fair. Sophie's run a con before with Nate breathing down her neck, and she didnāt do it perfectly, but she did it well enough. She has a little more experience. But itās Hardisonās first time, and Nate is very hard on him. Itās just the kind of dad he is. So yes, she wants to keep things professional, but I like to think that thereās a part of Sophie not-so-deep-down going drag him, draaaaaaag him. Itās only fair.
She doesnāt really admonish him until he lets Parker break into an empty safe to prove a point. Itās the kind of thing that would be a big risk if they were doing one of their very high stakes jobs, but this one is smaller, so it slides with some choice words (mostly from Eliot and Sophie).
What happens next is fascinating to me.
Nate retreats to the back of the room, symbolic of how he is revealed ultimately to have the big picture at the end of the day. He writes out the letter to send Hardison (kind of a dick move but also a very dad move). But itās Sophie who asks Hardison the guiding questions to lead the team through his thought process: What con are we running? How are you going to hook them?
Her reaction to his plan, especially the setup work, is this. Itās Nate who guides Hardisonās thinking, but this - psychological priming? Flair for dramatic? Heās his motherās son. We see how his flair for the dramatic resonates with her even in Redemption.
Feedback cards and character aliases? So fun. Look how proud she is of him on his very first con.
Later, when theyāre in the room together, sheās so dazzled by the way heās able to orchestrate the mine flooding! Theatrical. Dramatic. Serious work going on behind the scenes. This is her baby, okay!!!
Nate ends up reinforcing the lesson for Hardison for the con (arguably, the idea of simplification is beat in to us, the audience, a little too much in this episode) at the end, but we also get the lesson from Sophie here too. For a land deal, she tells Hardison, she also goes simple - alcohol and a dress. She doesnāt go soft on him - her feedback is the same as Nate's, just said in a very Sophie-kind of way - but sheās clearly impressed by his attempt. Look at her face!!!
As she says, there are only 7 kinds of cons, a direct reference to how there are only 7 kinds of stories. Cons are just stories - theater for Sophie, a chess match for Nate, and a video game for Hardison. He goes too complex with this first one, but itās just that...his first one. And Sophie is very aware of the amount of detail he is capable of.
Hardison doesn't feel great at the end of the episode. It's a learning experience, not a triumph for him (though the client ends up on the better end of it). But she and Nate are both very proud of him and his growth.

Gina, bravery, and doing the right thing
Do you ever wonder how a character got from one emotional state to another? Cause that's how I felt about Gina going from the first line to the second in these screencaps from the HSM opening night:
Why was she initially okay with leaving things unspoken between her and Ricky, and what made her change her mind? After thinking about this more deeply and rewatching some scenes, I think I know the answer: she watched EJ be at peace with essentially getting rejected on stage.
Let's start at the beginning: why was the initially okay with leaving things unspoken? I think it's because she knew she'd most likely get rejected.
In 1x06, Gina witnesses what Ricky is like when something he cares about is taken away from him after they're all told that Miss Jenn may lose her job in 24 hours. Initially, Ricky is in denial that things could change permanently:
Gina: "Well, that fell apart fast."
Ricky: "Nothing fell apart. It is all going to be okay."
Gina: "Do you know something I don't know?"
Ricky: "She is Miss Jenn. She is unstoppable. The whole show is unstoppable."
Gina: "But what if it does stop?"
Ricky: "Let's not go there. It can't stop. We still have too much work to do."
Gina: "Yeah."
Gina knows that things can end quickly and abruptly. She's experienced that all her life. But Ricky is really resistant to change. Gina tries to make him consider the possibility of change, but he refuses to even think about it. So she distracts him by asking to hear his version of When There Was Me And You instead.
After Ricky sings it for her, he starts thinking about what they may be able to do to prevent change from happening.
Ricky: "Should we be doing something?"
Gina: "What do you mean?"
Ricky: "Like to help Miss Jenn. Like, a letter-writing campaign?"
Gina: "In one night?"
Ricky: "Yes. I don't know."
Here you can see another contrast between how Ricky and Gina view change. Gina doesn't think change can be prevented, while Ricky does, or at least wants to believe it can be. In order to avoid having to accept change, Ricky would rather think of ways to solve the problem that causes the change.
When the Wildcats gather in Big Red's basement, we are once again reminded of how much Ricky cares about the show and the Wildcats:
Ashlyn: "Okay, does anyone here actually care if her past is a little bit sketchy? Anyone?"
Ricky: "I do."
Big Red: "Seriously, dude?"
Kourtney: "What, because you live some perfect life?"
RickY: "Not at all. Because she put our show in jeopardy. And now we're all here, maybe for the last time, together. And for some of us, this has become... I don't know."
Nini: "Family."
Ricky: "What team?"
All: "Wildcats."
Ashlyn: "Okay, Wildcats. So, what are we doing about it?"
Ricky rallies the group to find a way to get Miss Jenn to stay. Similarly, he didn't want his relationship with Nini to be over, so he joined the theater group as a way of proving to her that he won't quit on them. Gina was present when Nini broke up with Ricky in 1x01 and she overheard Nini say that Ricky's only doing the musical to be close to her in 1x02. Gina even took advantage of that to try and get Nini to quit. So Gina is fully aware of what it looks like when Ricky cares about something so much that he doesn't want it to change.
In 1x07, this is Ricky's initial reaction to the news that Gina has to leave soon:
Ricky: "Hey, you okay?"
Gina: "I will be."
Ricky: "Want to talk about it, or..."
Gina: "Not even a little."
Ricky: "I-I'll call you?"
Gina: "Honestly, you heard what happened. I don't think there's any point in calling me anymore, do you?"
Ricky checks in with how she's feeling, tries to get her to talk about it, and then offers to continue the conversation later. But Gina says there's no point. As I've said before, she feels change is inevitable and can't be stopped, despite 1x06 having proved differently. But she doesn't fully shut Ricky down. She does word that last sentence as a question. Does Ricky think there's still a point in calling her? After all, if he cares enough, he'll resist change and start looking for solutions.
From Gina's POV, this is all she hears from Ricky during 1x08:
He checks in with her again and is worried about how she's doing emotionally, but he shows no resistance to this particular change. Offers no solutions. There's no rallying the troops this time.
Which isn't to say that Ricky doesn't care about Gina at all. Of course he does care. But it's not on the same level as Nini or the show. With Gina, instead of looking for ways to prevent her from having to move or at least trying to find a way to bring her back for opening night, Ricky says this:
"Gina's okay. She's a fighter and she'll be back for opening night."
Gina doesn't know about this so it doesn't play into her decision on opening night, but I'm mentioning it to illustrate the difference between how Ricky acted when he was about to lose Nini and the show vs how he acted when Gina was leaving. During 1x08, Gina was still in Salt Lake. But Ricky felt she'd come up with a solution herself. He wasn't active at all about getting her to stay or bringing her back for opening night. He left fighting against this change to Gina.
Gina later finally responds to his texts:
"Sorry, drama with my mom's job. I think we have to leave a day early."
Ricky reads the text and then puts away his phone without responding. As far as we know, that's the end of that conversation between them.
Gina knows Ricky isn't putting in the same effort into his relationship (generally speaking, not in a bf/gf way) with her as he is with Nini and the show, because Ricky never even tried to find a way to bring her back. Instead, it was EJ who bought her the plane ticket on opening night. Which is why, when she sees Ricky again on opening night, she initially lets him off the hook and doesn't ask for clarification on what their thing in 1x06-1x07 was. Ricky says he doesn't know what to say and she gives him an out with "don't say anything", which he takes. When he leaves, she says "Bye", indicating that she's intending to leave it at this.
The next time she sees and speaks to Ricky further confirms that he'll most likely reject her if she brings up her own feelings for him. She goes to check on him after he gives up the role of Troy and asks why he gave up the role. He first says it's because of his mom's new boyfriend unexpectedly showing up, but then admits he's doing it so he doesn't screw up Nini's chances at getting into YAC. He gave up something he deeply cares about (and that Gina knows he deeply cares about) for Nini. Something he wasn't willing to give up in 1x06. It shows the depth of his love for Nini, and I don't think this went unnoticed by Gina. But this doesn't mean Gina doesn't still have a little bit of hope that their thing meant something to Ricky. If Nini's performing with EJ, there's a chance they may get back together. And as long as she hasn't asked Ricky about how he feels about her, she can still hold onto that little bit of hope.
As they go into the gym to watch the show, Gina expects to see EJ get everything she thinks he wants. But instead, she watches him fully realise that Nini doesn't want him as her Troy, accept that she doesn't want to be with him anymore, and graciously step aside so Nini can make the choice to bring Ricky on stage.
Gina watches as Nini convinces Ricky to join her on stage again and they go off to sing together. When EJ joins her, he seems at peace with his choice.
Yes, he just got rejected on stage, but he also has the answer he needed. He knows his relationship with Nini is over and he's accepted that. He knows he did the right thing by playing to lose.
Gina, just like EJ, has always played to win. Has always been told that if she can't be number one at something, it isn't worth doing. She feels the same way about admitting her feelings to Ricky. If she's likely gonna get rejected, she might as well not "play". But EJ, who she knows is just like her, played to lose and looked okay with that. He wasn't devastated or heartbroken. He got what he needed: an answer.
This inspires Gina to be brave, and she decides to confess her feelings to Ricky after all. As Ashlyn was told by others when she couldn't find Gina on opening night, Gina was getting something she needed. She feels she doesn't do things right the first time and that she didn't get things right with Ricky (cause she wants a relationship with him but it can't happen), but if EJ can get it right by playing to lose, then maybe Gina can too. Maybe the right thing isn't always about getting exactly what she wants, but about getting what she needs.
So even if she can't get it right by getting the answer she wants to hear, she at least won't stop herself from getting an answer. She'll keep pushing and won't quit on herself by denying herself the chance to get the answer she needs. However, being this open and vulnerable is terrifying to her. As she works up to her confession, she starts crying and calls herself stupid for being that emotional. She's really struggling with getting the words out. And in the end, I think her bravery leaves her, because she words her confession in a way that gives Ricky an easy excuse not to answer:
"I wouldn't quit on us if I wasn't moving away."
She tells him how she feels but then immediately shuts down any potential relationship. She keeps control over the conversation (which is more a monologue than a dialogue) and doesn't really give Ricky room to respond in order to protect herself from getting rejected. And maybe in the moment, having said her feelings out loud felt like enough. She felt she could walk out there with her head held high, because she's leaving anyways, voiced how she felt, and didn't fully get rejected. So there's no hope for her and Ricky to have anything now anyways, right?
But in season 2, when she has the chance to stay in Salt Lake, she realises that it's not enough. Because while she still knows Ricky would've most likely rejected her, she can't help but have a little hope that's not the case. Because he never actually said anything one way or the other. And we see how the not knowing and holding onto false hope kills her.
It's not until 2x05 that Gina finally gets the answer she needs, and it happens after we see Ricky give Gina a similar arm pat as the one EJ gave Nini in 1x10:
Perhaps that reminded her of the moment EJ got his answer, and perhaps that, combined with her just being so tired from the not knowing and constantly being indirectly rejected by Ricky, is why she decided to be brave again and be direct with Ricky. She states that they're not dating, and Ricky's "obviously" finally gives her the answer and closure she needed. It's a rejection, as she knew it would be, but now she can finally let go of that sliver of hope she'd been clinging to. That sliver of hope that kept making every indirect rejection hurt all the more.
EJ admires Gina's bravery, but he doesn't know that he inspired her to be brave in 1x10, and potentially again in 2x05. Just like EJ was inspired to be better and do things the right way by Gina in 1x06, so was Gina inspired by him in 1x10. She put herself out there emotionally because EJ showed her that it's okay to get rejected. That it's okay to lose sometimes, or to deliberately play to lose. And that even if she couldn't be number one at everything, it could still be worth doing. Not for others, but for herself. And not for some big achievement, but for her emotional needs.

So we went and saw Spiderman: No Way Home last night, and it was a blast! It is so much fun watching a movie where people clap and cheer and scream. My daughter had told me to keep it in check, because I can be one of those people, but then a group of college-age girls sat down next to us and the girl next to me said - 'I'm sorry if I spill my popcorn, but I'm probably going to scream a lot.' And I said - 'That it totally fine, I will probably scream with you then!' And sure enough, we both did. It was so much fun, I think we'll have to go to the big movies on opening night from now on.
I have a few more thoughts, but I'll put those below the cut. SPOILERS FOR SPIDERMAN: NO WAY HOME!
I thought it was great, and even better than I expected when it came to the big question of whether Tobey and Andrew would be in it. It started out a bit weird because so much had been given away in the trailers - the whole set up, really. So a bit slow and I didn't really understand how Peter went from being arrested to meeting with Daredevil to starting his senior year. How was he cleared of murdering Mysterio? By Matt Murdoch? I think I just need a rewatch of that - girls next to me asked to confirm if that was Daredevil, and my daughter had no idea so I had to quickly explain.
I thought there might really be a possibility Doctor Strange wasn't Doctor Strange. I sort of dig that Wong is Sorcerer Supreme . . . although I do wonder why he was fighting Abomination in Shang-Chi. Stress relief? Spell was neat, though.
The scene were Doc Ock shows up was awesome, as was the Green Goblin. The theater screamed, so much fun! Unlike other de-aging efforts, I didn't think about it once with Alfred Molina. I'm not a fan of some of the other villiains, but they all had their moments.
The fight in the mirror dimension was very cool. So what's up with Peter still being able to control his body when Strange pushed him out? And then he actually beat him and left him there, wow. Not sure I agree with his reasons, though. It makes sense to me to send everyone back to their universe. I guess it's just in this Peter's nature to want to help - he gets it from his aunt.
Unfortunately, that did not turn out well for her. OMG! It had not even occurred to me she might die. And the way it was done - so much sniffling around me! She seemed fine, and then she wasn't. AND SHE SAID THE LINE!! Amazingly done - heartbreaking. And the first of several surprises.
Ned using the ring is so super cool. There are so many ways to go with that, yes! But Ned trying to open a portal and Andrew Garfield walking out? HOLY SHIT! The theater - or at least my row - lost their minds. So unbelievably awesome. I was expecting them to show up - if they did - in the third act, the final battle. That we got them so early was an unbelievable gift. Because of course Ned tries again and of course Tobey walks through. Brilliantly done. Just great. And then they find Tom's Peter and we get this amazing scene where they learn about each other. Wow. And the banter? LOVE IT!!
Has anyone figured out how Tobey seemed to know Ned's grandmother??
Loved the scene in the lab. I do wonder if these older, more experienced Spidermen would agree with Tom that the villains all need to be cured. I suppose it could go either way, but that seeing a younger version of themselves, they are reminded of their own youthful hope. And I think that's the character at it's core: one of them arguing to send them all back to die without at least trying would not have been true to character.
The final battle was very cool - great action, even better banter. And the arrival points? DAMN! Doc Ock showing up as a good guy to help? YES! Andrew talking to Electro? Yes! But Andrew saving MJ? FUCKING HELL YES! I mean, we all suspected it was coming, but here's where I must say: Andrew almost stole this movie. His Spiderman is so much more confident here. So much more open and talkative and so damn funny, but also heartbroken and wise. I loved him. They way he told them about Gwen and then the look on his face when he saved MJ: brilliant. Also: the scene where Tobey is actually telling Andrew he is amazing? LOVED IT!
And then Tom beating the hell out of Osborn, only for Tobey to stop him. WOW. And then Tobey getting stabbed? AHHHH! And then they saved him... only here comes the rest of them.
The spell at the end is still a little confusing. At the beginning Peter only wanted people to forget that he, Peter Parker, was Spiderman. At the end, in order to shut the multiverse, they have to cast a spell where everyone forgets him, Peter Parker, completely. I guess I'm not sure why the original spell wouldn't have worked? And then if everyone forgets about Peter Parker in his universe, did it spread to the others? Do Osborn and Octavius and the others forget about their Peter Parkers in their universes too? I mean, it sort of makes sense and sort of doesn't and I'm totally down with it, I just want to know more.
Because it's a heartbreaking ending. Peter is truly alone. No one knows who he is. He's invisible. No Aunt May, no MJ and Ned, no Happy and the Stark tech. But he continues on. A friendly neighborhood spiderman. It really is like these three movies are his true origin story. Now he's truly Spiderman.
And there's plenty to work with! That blob of Venom at the end. Daredevil (and Kingpin in Hawkeye). Ned's magic, and the constant references to evil best friends (please no no no no!). Meeting MJ and Ned again and restoring their memory somehow. Will he ever be a part of the Avengers again? Will he be a part of the final battle with Kang years from now? So many possibilities - I love it!
So there's my mad ramble. Still so excited at how well done it was. Were there questions and weaknesses? Sure. But overall, it was great. What they managed to pull off was pretty amazing. And it was such fun watching it in a theater with other screaming fans, I wish I could do it again!

Movies Watched, April 2022
from Daniel Kwan andĀ Daniel Scheinert's "Everything, Everywhere All at Once" (2022)
A little late to write this, but saw a few notable films that I really enjoyed and expanded a few trailing thoughts thatās been living in my brain this last month. The weather is generally getting nicer. Iām very surprised that for once in my fourteen years of living in New York, that we are finally in the middle of the longest Spring Iāve ever experienced here.
(2022) Penyalin Cahaya (Photocopier)
A very on the nose message that was executed in a curious way, especially considering the restrictions that most of Indonesian cinema has to exist within. I want to see the directorās short films!
(2021) The Cathedral
A formalist recollection of a personal memory. While I generally enjoyed the film, the distance the film has between itself and the feelings or the messiness of its characters, ended up making me like the film a little less.
(1987) Maurice
Walked into Malcolm watching some of this, so I missed the first 30 - 40 minutes, which I need to rewatch soon. Heartbreaking, beautiful film.
(2001) Josie and the Pussycats
A fun watch that felt timely, with all the similar aesthetics coming back around. Itās way more cynical than I remember it. The love interest sub plot was totally unnecessary.
(2022) Turning Red
Was ok, itās nice to see this story up there and the animation style definitely feels fresh but somehow the pacing and the writing didnāt feel as good as Soul or other Pixar films.
(2021) Worst Person in the World
Wonderful film. Joachim Trier is one of my favorite humanist filmmakers working today. The timing in which I saw this made me think of Parallel Mothers since itās so recent in my mind. The two films touched upon generational strive or differences through relationships. Would definitely watch this again.
(2022) Scream
Feels lackluster and kind of unnecessary. The film was aware of itself but also didnāt necessarily add anything else besides repositioning it for a new generation. I really hope that they stop after this one.
(2022) Everything, Everywhere, All at Once
Besides the one kind of lame joke that pulled me out of the film for a minute, EEAO was great. Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan were amazing. The film was visually surprising, entertaining and felt like something I havenāt seen before. Watched this at the TCL Chinese Theater, which definitely added to my experience viewing the movie.

hi! iāve recently decided to rewatch all the star wars movies and take notes on them and then,,, share them with you. so if youāre even mildly interested in my star wars opinions, here you go :)
iāll divide it into a couple categories so,,,
well start with rogue one!!
shit that made me giggle
"oh look, hereās lyra back from the dead. itās a miracle."
everything K2 says and does. i love him and heās perfect.
i love the continuous attempts by K2 to appear imperial and how he fails every time. not a single storm trooper or officer ever believes him when he starts running his mouth.
so sorry but bohdi getting his cable caught and trying to shake it loose is such an adorably human moment. makes me giggle every time.
i honestly thought this section would be longer, this movie made me laugh a bunch.Ā
stuff i donāt like or doesnāt make sense
why does jyn start believing in the rebellion? thereās no indication that she cared before they found her. thereās no real turning point that we can see. she just,,, suddenly is really into this shit. which is strange because the only reason she ever joined was because she was given a non-choice (either help or get put back in prison). i guess i can kinda see how her father dying could have changed her, but we see none of that on the ship after his death. we just get to the rebel council and all of a sudden sheās the poster girl for rebellion.
saw seems really stable at the beginning of the film, so why did he go seemingly crazy and paranoid? itās probably explained in the novelization but thatās no excuse to just have a character go crazy with really no explanation or backstory.
that being said, a lot of the character development is pretty lacking. i donāt think iād care about these characters nearly as much if i wasnāt already a star wars fan.
video game cut scene style general tarkin
bor gullet is supposed to make you lose your mind but bohdi was pretty much fine after like,,, a day
how does the death star,,,, move?? like i know it can but has that ever been explained? is it like little thrusters? like the ones you can see in real life to stabilize things in space? thereās nothing i can visually see. iām not mad about it i just wanna know.
why does saw insist on staying behind? why doesnāt he come and help?? it would have been so easy to just leave but he insists on staying behind and just watching as death inches closer. i think it doesnāt make sense because we know *so little* about his character. give me more on him, make me understand.
since james earl jones is getting older, vader sounds older. was there??? nothing the audio or editing department could have done about that??? not super mad about this one just because darth vader is really cool and iāll never really complain too much about darth vader screen time.
when the fuck did jyn become a motivational speaker??
my one gripe about pretty much every star wars movie is the sheer number of times people climb through huge shafts and jump around and shit and theyāre always *fine*. no way they wouldnāt fall to their deaths in any normal situations.
can someone?? check the science of the hammerhead corvette?? because thereās no gravity or weight in space right?? theoretically all you gotta do is give that star destroyer a bump and itās spinning out, right?? i know absolutely nothing about space physics but i gotta be right. maybe iām wrong. i dunno. iām dumb as rocks. hear that baby girl?? itās the spare change rattling around in my skull. i got pennies where my brain is.
absolutely no fucking shot cassian survived a blaster hit AND that fall AND climbed out. my belief simply cannot be suspended that much.
DUDE I FORGOT THAT THE DEATH STAR CAN TRAVEL THROUGH HYPERSPACE HOW DOES WORK SOMEONE TELL ME!!!!!
why doesnāt vader just,,, force grab the plans. i know he sees them. why not just force stop the guy running away with them??
final note now that the movie is over. yes, itās got a lot of issues. the plot is ehhh at times. the trailers donāt match up with the movie shots AT ALL (i wanna know what happened behind the scenes with that). the character development is lacking in many major ways (that has not stopped me from loving these characters though, but thatās the autism talking). but like iāll say in the "stuff i liked" section, this is such a damn cool movie. i was once talking about it with an older friend of mine and he said seeing rogue one in theaters felt like watching the original trilogy in theaters back in the 70s and 80s and honestly thatās such a compliment. i love this movie, i really do.
just cool shit,,, you know the vibe
DEATH TROOPERS
krennic is probably one of my favorite imperial officers. for some reason he just really sells it for me, the evil and manipulation that borderlines in try hard. and (i mention it more later because you see it more in the "choke on your aspirations" scene) beyond that just the fact that heās?? a guy. just a dude. at any given moment he could be described as just hanging out. but heās trying so hard (for whatever reason, we donāt know his evil motivations) to be this big bad evil dude. and itās just interesting to see someone *trying* to be imperial and *trying* to be evil, as opposed to a tarkin-type character whoās just naturally an asshole.
i love the rogue one main theme. donāt even talk to me. itās so cool.
itās cool to see more about the birth of the death star, seeing other people learn about it. sort of realizing the fear and terror that everyone must have been experiencing. especially after being a star wars fan for so long and being like, yeah itās the death star itās just a staple of this universe. it reminds me that "oh god this was a planet killer and this was the first time something like that had ever even been heard of".
thereās gorgeous visuals in this movie.
i like the "iām wanted in 12 systems" guy cameo (did you know his name is cornelius? i googled it)
when the storm trooper asks for papers?? like fuck yeah show me what life is like under imperial rule. give me that shit.
chirrut is so badass iāll never get over it
"iām one with the force and the force is with me" iām eating that shit UP! salivating over the meal in front of me. i really want more exploration of the guardians and jedi worship in general. like gimme that weird funky space religion.
seeing an at-st just walk around a town. i dunno i like that shit.
K2 saying sorry for hitting cassian. iām so soft on this robot.
"clear of hostiles,,,, ONE HOSTILE"
jyn stepping in front of K2 to protect him after she (not ten minutes ago) made the comment āiām just afraid theyāll miss you and hit meā. jyn,,, your soft side is showing,,,,
i like the cool machine blaster that baze has. itās awesome seeing different blaster styles when originally the only variation we really saw was chewieās cross bow style blaster.
i really wanna see more of baze and cirruit. i wanna know what happened that made baze stop believing. i wanna know how they met. i wanna see them evolve and grow together.
i like that jyn argues that 16 is too young to be a solider (sheās 21 in the movie). i like that sheās mad that sheās young and has been put in a position to protect herself and then later save the galaxy. (for context: luke and leia were 19 in a new hope. anakin is 19 in attack of the clones, ~22 when he became darth vader, and rey is 19 in force awakens. stop putting the fate of the galaxy in the hands of people who are *barely* adults)
the testing of the death star is awesome. love seeing wicked cool space weapons. when it blocks out the sun? ominous as hell fuck yeah.
itās interesting that baze says cassian doesnāt look like a killer, that "he has the face of a friend", when one of the first things we saw him do was kill a man. i think about that a lot. does that say more about bazeās ability to read people or does it say more about who cassian is deep down, beyond what heās done to serve the rebellion?
cassianās relationship with death and killing is very interesting. you could argue that cassian is just as brainwashed and deep in the rebellion as anyone imperial. i really hope itās something that gets explored in his stand alone show. he mentions heās lost everything and has been a rebel since he was 6. gimme cassian andor backstory.
"careful not to choke on your aspirations director" is probably some of the most dramatic-anakin-skywalker shit iāve ever seen vader do
i like seeing rebel infighting. so often it seems thereās always general consensus about what the rebellion wants, but itās good to see that they donāt always agree on how to rebel.
i love the consistent "found family" rebel alliance shit in these movies. it makes my dick so hard.
ARTOO AND THREEPIO CAMEO FUCK ME UP THOSE ARE MY BOYS
okay i totally get that the empire is evil, i really do, but rogue one (and lots of moments in the sequels) really reminds me how fucking cool some of their shit is. like death troopers? imperial droids like K2? the base on scarif? vaderās castle on mustafar and his bacta tank?? fuck me UP.
i loved hearing the troopers doing their dumb small talk about the T-15s on the beach.
i think ben mendelssohn is perfect for the role of krennic, no notes there. heās just like?? a guy and heās doing everything he can to fit into this evil role and he just wants to be like this big bad imperial boy on campus. i donāt know. i donāt have the words right now to express how fuckin awesome he is. iāll write an essay about it later.
THE AT-AT COMING OUT OF THE MIST?? CHRIST ON A BIKE. LAY ME TO REST. LOVE IT.
fucking love me some female fighter pilots. the women of star wars are so badass. doing justice to my return of the jedi ladies.
i think a whole lot about jyn giving K2 a blaster. the way he takes it and looks at it and holds it so gently. i think thatās the first time a human has trusted him with a blaster since his reprogramming. he seems so appreciative of that trust.
i love seeing the faces of baze and the other rebels when a few of the x-wings show up and take down an at-at. iām so very soft for the relationship between these rebels. not to be cliche, but the *hope* that they have. itās so moving. this movie is just so full of that quintessential rebel feeling.
hey so iām super emotional about the death of K2 okay? because in the novelizations you learn that in the last second k2 had before a full shut down, he ran a simulation where cassian lived and even though he knew it was impossible, it made him happy. FURTHERMORE K2 is very well known and his name is often listed along side jynās in terms of talking about the history of the rebellion.
chirrut and bazeās deaths are so important to me. we know theyāre best friends, and even though we donāt know how long theyāve been together, they love each other so deeply. chirrut being the path for baze to return to the force? touching. i so wish these dumb force husbands could have had more screen time. baze calling chirrut back?? chirrut telling him to find him in the force?? baze looking to see the man he loves one more time before he dies??reminds me of the silken quote about dying in your best friends arms because itās all you know. anywho,,, if star wars canon has any mercy then these two lovers are force ghosts together rn. donāt care how you feel or whether you "ship" them or not. love comes in so many forms and they encompass all that love.
terribly sorry but i think about those two star destroyers colliding with the rogue one main theme playing over it every day. itās,,,,, so,,,, ( Ā“āļ½)
iāve said it before and iāll say it again BEN MENDELSSOHN??? UH YEAH
krennic watching his weapon (his beautiful, successful weapon) power up and kill him,,, the poetic justice of it all,,,,
any time anyone says "may the force be with you" i dunno maybe itās my religious trauma but iām head over heels for that good shit
the star destroyer coming out of hyper space as the rebels are escaping and some of the ships hit the destroyer?? one of my favorite things in the new star wars movies is directors and writers saying "oh this can totally happen" and they DO IT
jyn mentioning earlier in the film that she isnāt used to people sticking around when shit hits the fan and then dying in the arms of cassian?? because he stayed?? and for the first time she has someone??
in that same vein: cassian also says earlier in the film that he lost everything too. his connection with jyn is also important to him, just as important as it is to jyn. they need each other. i canāt remember who on this hellsite said it, but someone mentioned that they hope the stand alone cassian stuff coming out doesnāt make him this swindling playboy who fucks around a bunch. i think having him as more of like?? a mandolorian type character would be really cool. like heās a rebel assassin: make him one. make him independent and badass and cool and DONT give him a bunch of romantic or sexual interests because then that downplays the clear love he had developing for jyn. again LOVE COMES IN FORMS BEYOND BASIC SHIPS. and thereās a lot of love in star wars.
iāve said it a million times but vader is so cool and over and over again this movie reminded me that heās actually so scary. i saw star wars for the first time when i was 6 and i canāt remember my initial reaction to him, but iāve definitely (like with the death star) been desensitized to the fact that if i was in star wars, darth vader would scare the shit out of me. heās *scary* and thatās cool. i liked seeing vader effortlessly go fucking mad on these rebels. then you understand why they were so scared in that first scene of a new hope.
no i absolutely will not get over the vader scene. i wonāt. his saber turning on. his force abilities. his effortless lightsaber work. the choral music over the scene with the hectic orchestra. donāt touch me iām emotional.
i loved seeing leia. it touches me so deeply every time.
fuck i love this movie despite all its faults.
if youāve made it this far, thank you!! i hope you enjoyed. please remember that this is totally a safe space for all star wars opinions and you can feel free to disagree with me! iād love to hear what some of you thought :))

yesss the letter format ššššššššš (lovely anon)
my dearest aria (a hamilton reference lmao),
iām home alone (bc i wanted the house alone to get my head together after my brothers were mean to me š) and iām so hype LMAO but iām watching chloe x halleās tiny desk concert and honestly just vibing. (this is so random) besides zendaya like they are my badass black women role models. my one accomplishment would be to learn to body roll like them LMAO
oh nevermind i canāt have anything nice, my dad just came home š WHAT A WAY TO START OFF THIS ASK WTFFF
iām liking tfatws, the second episode was veryyy intense imo but WANDAVISION IS SO GOODš i knew it was going to be my favorite from the really old trailer but itās really good and i promise itās not just sitcoms, girl especially cuz youāll have all the episodes already out- we were having to wait every weekš BUT ITS SO GOOD I PROMISE HDJSHDJSH lmao reading this i was like āi- the episodes arenāt an hour longā but i feel that, itās hard for me to watch tfatws bc they are an hour long and iām like š but wandavision episodes are less than 30mins bc I KID YOU NOT they have the damn 10 MINUTE CREDITS DHDJSJ no i donāt think weāve talked about this b4 lol but it all depends on the series for me. i binged love island uk in less than a week bc i was so invested and LITERALLY LOVE IT but uh those episodes are like an hour and a half, but say i was binging tfatws (itās so hard to type that ohmigosh) i honestly would not be able to do it bc of the intensity (you may be like what intensity but if youāve seen episode 2 by the time youāre reading this.......... isaiah and the scene afterwards is all i have to say, esp me being black it was so tough :/)
girl youāre fine, as long as youāve experienced it once hahaha i think the reason why itās so important to my family (this letter feels so personal and extreme HSJSJA IM SORRY) is bc my grandmother loved it and in my family i guess itās just important to us lol like my mom and dad love it too and we have the literal VHS tapes LMAO, but it only came up recently cuz my youngest brother was watching lion guard HAHA and he wanted to see the originals :) and fun fact (unless you already know) but thereās a lion king part 2 and 1 1/2 and i have all three ON VHS HAHAHA but i love lion king 1 duh (the og) but part twoās music and love story..... is so good. anyway. š¦

PLEASE i have the longest movie watchlist and uhh havenāt seen any of them JDJSKA (istg i use HSJSSKSH as a period - like . ) iām still hype for cherry but very hesitant (idk if i can handle it) but iām thinking about watching it in the next couple of weeks? i know itāll take me forever bc iām gonna have to keep pausing and shit but idk. iāve asked around for very specific trigger warnings and time stamps so i REALLY know whatās coming (even if it spoiled the film a bit for me) but i do really wanna see it (i think? writing this now iām not so sure lol) so whooooooo really knows lol, but chaos walking YES i was really excited about it :))) and about my friend uhh dude you donāt sound mean at all i was literally thinking the same thing but worse HAAKL idk what she was there for???? she bought my ticket tho so šš¾āāļø whatever
āSIMS ahh, BUNK BEDS ahhā had me cracking up lmao and you know my sims status JAJAHHAJ but iām gonna become like you, saving every 5 minutes š but thatās exactly what happened to me, i really didnāt know whether to shut it off or not but after 2 hours i was heartbroken lol iām literally making a list of things i need to redo that wasnāt saved lmao
CAN I JUST SAY UR A MASTERMIND THOUGH??? UR SIMS GAME SOUNDS SO *chefs kiss* IM CRINE university is PAINFULLY long and LITERALLY I FEEEL THAT like you canāt do anything else without failing, i had my sim go to a party once for like a few hours and i felt so dumb afterwards like urgh he shouldāve been studying LMAOO just cracking down on work honestly. (pouring rain has just suddenly begun where i am rn wow ok) i love that you put them on the same lot, that was really really smart and i love that ur living out your sexuality in the simsš i was abt to say ānow you can say youāve got experience bc of the simsā but ANYWAY IGNORE ME fhdhs THE ALIEN BABY DHSJSK i hope itās not a dealbreaker for enisa. thatād be tragic. IM BACK IN UPPERCASE THO BC YES MAKING OUT IN THE SIMS IS SO HOT TO ME??? I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE STFU OH MY GOSH- all the stuff, whispering sweet nothings, and the making out, and JUST ALL OF IT!!! AM I TOUCH STARVED????? there was this time i made my sim just continue to woohoo bc it was turning me on big time. ANYWAY
half way through that i had to go to my grandmothers house (not the one that likes lion king, but uh hmm idk if you remember but i was talking abt my shit family so yeah that grandmother lol) so now iām finishing this š„“ and instead of chloe x halle iām watching a tom interview lmao & if this takes me longer than 30 minutes.... imma cry
I REALLY WANNA ASK- IS IT BC UR GERMAN LIKE YOU CAN JUST WRITE OUT THAT LONG ASS WORD???? i mean i canāt write out supercalafrag- anyway, but that word is a bit nonsense, UR WORD IS A REAL WORD DUDE HDJSHS i love how ur like āmaybe i mixed up these wordsā YEA OK.
lol i had to google what are waveformers lol (lol makes a comeback) and they look like curlers that you would sleep in (here we would call them curlers or uhm i forgot uhhhhhhh rollers i think) but ur fine when am i ever making sense?? i think the best part about these is the chaos yet we understand what the other means š

oh my goodness, i love tattoos too- GASP what are you thinking of getting š„ŗ i want tattoos too but iām too indecisive to figure out what to have & where. especially in my family... idk they arenāt frowned upon but my momās not applauding the thought lol, if i got one it would have to be meaningful but i am absolutely in love with (for example) ariana grandeās finger tattoos !! theyāre so cute and simple :ā) i donāt even know if i can get tattoos? my skin is... interesting. not in a bad way!! just like.... idk how to explain it??? keyloids run in the family & i got a piercing once and it got infected soo :/ the doctor also confirmed that if i wanted tattoos they couldnāt be in color so LMAO
ONCE AGAIN THIS WHOLE THING FEELS SO TMI DHSHSSJ IM LIKE OHMIGOSH SHUT UP SHE DOESNT CARE JESJSKS
in regards to you not sleeping, i wanted to mention that dumb bird, what was the reason it was up so early aT 4AM???? SIR WHO YOU CALLING TO??? also itās 11:30pm and idk why iām tired???
yeah i was never SUPER into justin so i donāt know exactly what albums youāre talking about lol, i do know yummy though.. but everyone did hahaha also i listen to so much pop š i mean maybe... idk what would count as pop and what wouldnāt. that new person feeling though.. i get that. itās like who is this new person..? i kinda feel like that with taylor swift (i was never THAT into her either though so itās like oh wait i didnāt know you from the beginning instead of hello old friend but youāre different lol)
about the concerts, thanks š„°š„° thatās so sweet what you did for your mom too, itās nice seeing them so happy like š„² awh AND GLEE IS AND WAS MY LIFE FOR A V V LONG TIME, iāve been meaning to rewatch it for the longest time lmaooo but iām just so lazy and itās such a commitment... iāll have to get emotionally involved again and idk if i want that rn. but i have a friend on instagram and she runs a glee fan account and itās such a big part of her life i really donāt think i could ever be THAT obsessed with something. like another one of my friends loves tom holland so much that she changed her momās name in her phone to what tomās momās name is in his phone (that was confusing lol) and obviously iām not judging them AT ALL, it just couldnāt be me lol
CONCERTS LOOK LIKE SO MUCH FUN š©š© LIKE THE EXPERIENCE AND THE FEELINGGG URGHSJS i wanna see a few people live like ari and chloe x halle and- hmm.... idk who else FJDSJ rex orange county i guess huh anyway, the experience just sounds so amazing and the atmosphere is just āØāØāØ yeah
aria do it do it do it do it do it- watch hamilton!! but with subtitles bc you wonāt catch half of the things theyāre saying without them LMAO (me and my family watched it and they all didnāt like it bc they didnāt know what was happening lol) BUT DONT WATCH IT AT 4AM LMAO ITS LITERALLY 3 HOURS LONG
yes!! superior peter fics š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ and it just shows how much of an incredible writer AND PERSON you are through your fics that you can turn a blurb into 2k....... like what.
LMAO the annoying thing, sometimes i feel like iām bothering people (like right now HAHAH) but i think itās my antisocial side being like yeaa no one wants to talk to you like you wanna talk to them :ā) idk itās strange!! sometimes i get really āØinsecureāØ and overthink everything LOL like is this too long, im talking too much, iām swearing too much, oh lord iām a pain, all that good shit lmao so thatās fun:))
ALSO YOUR BLOG IS SO FUN TO ME HAHAK LIKE ITS JUST YOUR OWN AND I LOVE THAT!!! like you talk about everything and anything on here lol,, and i say that bc what you said lmao how if i was someone else i would want to fuck me so badš i honestly donāt understand how i donāt have people lining up though..... but if no oneās gonna tell you... then you tell yourself, period (and sometimes telling yourself is fucking yourself HSHAJKS OK NEXT)
ohmigosh the realization you had that you graduated last year and are going to uni this yearš¤§ but the fact that you had a teacher who LEFT THE GROUP CHAT bc she was mad at yāall i- š but yeah about your maths (i always wondered why you guys call it maths and the US calls it math. like i know so many people out of the states, not just in the uk that say maths) teacher- i saw this post that said online school is looking a lot like dora the exploreršš āyou have any questions?ā š¦ āokay bye thenā lmao and please i love when tests have nothing to do with what you studied like ??? thanks? sometimes i get scared that my teacher will somehow find out that i googled everything? or like my answer is too close to the answer sheet or something. i get sooo nervous lol but iām already past that point of not being able to do anything myself DHJS i mean iām still learning like i said!! read the question, read the answer. boom. now i know the answer to the question and i learned!
THANKS šš„°š¤§ idk how else to explain my feelings LMAO i feel itās cool that you find my dance lessons and voice lessons cool so thanks :ā)
oh god not headache season šš allergies are the worst like itās not even funny. is headache season just when the seasons are changing or is it like... all throughout the summer? cuz i love the summer lmaoo i love the winter too but i just love wearing as little clothes as possible LMAO
GIRL IF THAT BIRD DONT STOP CHIRPING- i am 100% convinced that it is the same bird trying to give you headaches and no sleep and it needs to stfu š¤ and pLEASE ur theme is adorable and pretty and cute but also it just feels like you? idk if iām explaining this right or if itās bc iāve been talking to you for a bit but itās cute but not innocent in a way that iām surprised that you write smut and- yeah, that didnāt make sense!! but ur new theme is gonna look pretty too and as long as you like it, itāll be amazingš„°
yessssss the fact that megan is gonna be ur pfp YES JUST YES
edit: ok i just need to š„ŗš sometimes u make me wanna cry cuz i feel like youāre just a kind person. i truly mean this, the fact that you celebrate yours & others stretch marks makes me so š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ i honestly donāt know anyone who has said they want need more stretch marks and itās just all very lovely to me :ā)) OKAY IMMA STOP BEING SAPPY
#yes my fake tags are back #by popular demand #aka me #and look i have actual tags this time! #iām seriously craving water ice rn....... huh #but itās past midnight and i fr fr want a snack #aw man #i wrote that last paragraph while doing my tags yes #and i hope you become responsible for that anonās orgasm #assuming they had one #and i saw your response to the tom thing and yeaa when they only look like that for something and itās like aw bae be yourself #iām gonna shut up now and find a snack but goodnight!! morning?? IDK #IF THESE TAGS END UP AS ACTUAL TAGS I AM SO SORRY HAHAHA #alright proofreading done and iām gonna go eat cereal
okay iām on my way to a driving lesson rn and afterwards i have a zoom uni thing, and then another uni thing lmao. but hopefully i can reply to this in between because iāve been dying to talk to you since i got this ask dldjdsššš (i really like this heart. i had a š phase for a while and now itās š (seems like a very romantic heart but.... it is what it is idk dkddj)
^okay that was literally all i wrote before my lesson lmfao. just had the worst driving lesson ever dbdvsnylkxsksj i think iāve gotten too used to being good at driving and now iāve gotten too cocky with it š„“ anyway iāve had such a stressful day and overall week but tbh iām already feeling better bc i can (indirectly) talk to you <333
omg i went to chloe or halle (i donāt remember who out of the two)ās instagram the other day and found out that they are not twins alejeleksjsksj but yes oh my god their voices are literally angelic and i canāt wait to see Halle as Ariel (Arielle??)š„° and omg itās literally 2021 and weāve only had......... one(?) black Disney Princess like itās about fucking time (I might be forgetting someone, Iām not too familiar with the new Disney films, but as far as I remember thereās only Tiana right? (who is literally a frog for 3/4 of the film šš) so yes iām here for it tooššš (obviously sheās not a cartoon like tiana ekdlek but sheās a disney princess you know what i mean ddkjdh)
pfkejdj iām already overwhelmed with my parents i canāt imagine having siblings too šš (sometimes i wish i had siblings but then other times (like after reading what you wrote dksjj) iām glad that iām an only child lmao like your brothers being mean to you and i remember when you cried and he was just like ššš ok. like iām totally okay being an only child sksjsjāāāand he doesnāt listen to music š¤§š¤§š¤§ (although i guess thatās good for you because at least he canāt annoy you by listening to loud music that you hate dmdn)
okay okay i might watch wandavision then??? Iāll definitely let you know!!! and yes omg iām loving tfatws (that really is so fucking hard to type omg) but same i totally get what you mean, iām not used to watching action series at all and every episode so far has been like a little movie so iām glad that i didnāt wait until it was all out cause thereās no way i could binge watch that lol) and yes last episode was really intense. iām glad that marvel are talking about racism because (from what iāve seen) they havenāt been the best in that department, and iām really curious to see what theyāll do in the next episodes (curious isnāt the right word but excited isnāt the right wort either, like iām excited but in a neutral way ? iāll shut up dslsksj i hate that german has so many words that you cant translate because theres a really good german word that describes how iām feeling but i cant think of a good translation ugh)
okay i absolutely need to watch lion king (and part 2 and 1/ 1/2 dksksj) AND hamilton, i might even do it soon š
BURGERS AT THE CINEMA? EBEEISNDBEKSK iāll come to the US just to go and watch a movie lmaooo, i think all the popcorn sizes and drinks are bigger as well, iāll come and watch chaos walking with you šš does next week work?
and yeah iāve seen posts with specific time stamps and trigger warning for cherry too so if you havenāt looked on tumblr yet iāve def seen some! (but ive also seen some on twitter and yeah- i mean idk youve probably looked on tumblr but yeah- then thereās also imdb which doesnāt have time stamps i believe but quite specific warnings, mostly without spoilers!)
Tbh i donāt think i would have even considered watching cherry if tom wasnāt in it... (iām personally fine with most of the triggering topics/things like for some reason iām just stoic when iām watching the most tragic films ever dldldldlbut the plot just... idk if itās for me you know? just entertainment wise?).... and even with tom in it iām unsure skeldls, iād totally get if you decide not to watch it but let me know if you do iād want to hear your thoughts! <3
SKSLSJJ my sims both finally graduated!! i think i played sometime last week, and i literally got the achievement/notification that iād been playing with this household for 24hours.... and that was BEFORE they graduated dldjdldkdksjjs
oh no my tumblr broke and three paragraphs of me talking about sims were deleted ššš
WAIT NO I TOOK SCREENSHOTSSKSK because i couldnāt press save so i knew they might be gone okay okay okay iām a genius
*move out
oh no idk if the quality is too bad to read... idk how good your eyes are dkdkdjjd (also sometimes it will be really bad quality for some but not for others so i hope that the you can see the pics in a normal/good quality)
Okay let me continue
OMG THE ROMANTIC AND SEXUAL STUFF IS THE BEST PART ABOUT THE SIMS DIDLDKJIkdkj i kind of miss how in the sims 3 they would be making out basically lying on top of each other if they were on a bedā but in sims 4 when theyāre sitting next to each other and everything thatās definitely hot too šš or with hot tubs dkdkdk how one sim climbs on the other simās lap before they woohoo (i used to make them skinny dip in the hot tub and then make out and woohoo so theyāre like naked on top of each other even if you canāt see anything- en e waysss)
Dkdkdkdj so @ Rindfleischet.. blah bla. so itās basically just loads of individual words put together/connected and thatās a really big part of german. so yesterday i had an online EinfĆ¼hrungsveranstaltung for uni (like it was a zoom meeting where they just talked about general stuff about the uni and i was really anxious before, idk why, but it turned out absolutely fine so) and that words consists of the two words EinfĆ¼hrung (introduction) and Veranstaltung (event) which are also two individual words but you can make a new word (EinfĆ¼hrungsveranstaltung, so in english thatās basically āintroduction eventā lmao) by combining those two words. there are obviously some rules like you canāt just combine random words in a random order but you can basically make infinite words (technically). for example (i feel like iām teaching a class just skip this if you donāt care šššdjdjdkdlns)
for example i could say EinfĆ¼hrungsveranstaltungsteilnehmer (which is not underlined with red by tumblr because it is a grammatically correct compound word (i think thatās what theyāre called?)) which is the words introduction + event + participant, so that word just means āparticipant of an introductory eventā but instead itās one word? i hope that makes sense? dkdkkdksks i mean it makes sense in german but idk if it makes sense to you cause idk if iām explaining it very well lmao,
(I just deleted a really really long paragraph that i wrote about gender in the german language and grammar, youāre welcome slsksksj)
my capacity to think has now been used up for the week š„“š„“š„“ i absolutely do not blame you if you just skipped over that part or canāt be bothered to (re)read my awful explanation edkflsksjdjdj (again, i had double the amount of words but i just deleted it dkdkdlslsl but whatās left lf my german lesson is probably confusing enough alreadyšiām sorryš„“)
so to answer your question LEJDKSKJ: itās really common to have long words in german, words that are just word+ word+ word + word made into one long word. obv rindfleischetikettierung..... is a very extreme example and itās normally just 2-4 words made into one! So yup i think that comes mostly from german and talking german and growing up here and going to school here and everything dmdfnsksx
i think the best part about these is the chaos yet we understand what the other means šā YES. YES. Yes. I love that about us ššš„°š„°/ I love us. Yes.
okay but your friend changing her momās name into tomās mumās name (was that right? Dkdkdjh)āā so Justin Bieber once posted something where you could see that his Dadās number was saved as āDaddy Cakesā (which, thinking back, sounds very weird ekejjej) and till this day I have my Dadās contact name as Tata (which is serbian for Dad lmao), āTataš°ā in my phone because of it ššššššš itās not because of justin anymore like iāve just gotten used to it by now but at first i did it because of justin lol........ but nowadays i donāt think iām THAT type of fan of anyone- like you know how people have fandom names (Justinās fans are the Beliebers, One Direction fans are Directioners (writing that hurt my soulššš)) and I wouldnāt consider myself a fan of anyone like that. like even with tom i wouldnāt call myself........ does tom even have a name for his fans??? Well if he does, I wouldnāt call myself that. Like i used to be such a hardcore stan for any celebrity that i liked and now itās just... okay, i like em. (She says on her blog where she writes fan fiction about Tom Holland ā WJDJEJDKELSKSKKSNSNDXBšššššššššššš)
Omg rex orange county!!!!!! I donāt know that many songs like Iāve only listened to the album pony, but i love it šššššššš
thanks again for what you said about my fics/writing Iāmš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ
Pete Davidson Pete Davidson Pete Davidson Iām-š„°š„°š„°š„° and I canāt explain why. But as blissfulparker said the other day (i donāt want to tag her and make her read through all of this lolll) āI like my men when they look like they are on the brink of death šā (or something along the lines of that) eskkejs okay pete isnāt that bad, he looks quite good on some days but other days youāre like... is this man alive? Like i donāt want to be mean I love Pete so much The King of Staten Island is literally my favourite film ever (although itās not my #1 because of how he looks, but i mean he does look good) VUT ALSO
(Okay i was gonna look for a terrible picture of him but he really doesnāt look as bad as people say??? like. i think heās hot. canāt necessarily explain why. so thatās that on that.)
iām not going chronologically right now (i just keep scrolling up to your ask and replying to whatever i see first sksksksh) so i might miss a thing or two that you said
Okay Stormzy, you really really donāt have to dkdkdjd like i think you said you donāt really listen to rap, and uk rap is a whole nother thing from us rap because of the accent i feel like??? (That sentence did not make sense) BUT if youāre looking for a few songs that arenāt like RAP rap, then Iād recommend One Second (feat HER), Superheroes, Own it (which you might know?), ummm maybe the song Lessons?, he has a ton of Lion King references by the way dkdjdj for example in Rachaelās Little Brother but thatās like more RAP again if you know what I mean?š and itās also like 5 Minutes long and tbh i only started liking that song a year after that album came out lmao but Rachaelās Little Brother is possibly my fav Stormzy song, then there is Shut Up which you absolutely need to listen to just for fun dldjdjd like itās just pure fun and also a little funny lmao, especially if youāre not British (i imagine so at least) cause heās like shuTTTT up idk dldkdjdldkjdhdhfjfbfldlsksksks
Vossi Bop is one of his classics, and then maybeee - ok so thereās Blinded By Your Grace Pt. 2 lmaoobdjsj itās very (Christian/) religious but i like it a lot even though iām not really Christian (at least not practicing or anything) so idk about your views on religion but i do like the song a lot just by like the sound lmao
Okay so again you absolutely DO NOT have to listen to any, especially not for me dlskdj but I really do recommend the songs Superheroes, One Second and Rachaelās Little Brother (and all the other ones i mentioned but if you donāt listen to a lot of his songs you should at least give these three a try <3333) also let me know some of your songs? š„ŗ like i dont care who theyāre by but iād love to listen to some that you like and Recommend š„°š„°š„°
Okay so skdjdjdjddhhddhdhjsk... I used to watch all of my series in German (like H2O) bc obviously they were on german tv so they were german- and i knew that most of these actors i saw on tv were american and i was always SO fascinated that they all learned german for this show??? Like I actually thought they were the peopleās real voices and that these English and American actors were learning german so they could re-record the whole ass show and do everything in german dkdkdldjdjjd... i swear I thought that until I was like 14 omg. And then the first time that I watched H2O in the original version i was sooo confused about their accents because to me all actors who spoke english were American?? I mean MOST of those shows are American so I wasnāt completely off but yeah i was definitely caught off guard when I heard all of their Australian accents for the first time ššššš
@ math vs maths, math actually makes more sense in my opinion. like you have the word mathematics, then the abbreviation would obviously be math... why would English people randomly add the s from the end??? Or maybe it makes more sense after all because itās like plural??? Now Iām unsure dkdkdkdj but i do say maths because thatās how i was taught to say it and i hear the word maths more than math but yeah dldkdjs i think math might even make more sense (okay i just tried saying math and maths is easier to pronounce but again tjat might just be me, oh god iāll stop talking about that disgusting thing (mathematics).)
not the crickets and dora LMAOOOSNSNSMDNBS yeah that teacher was... a lot. a lot a lot a lot didjjd but she kinda liked me so she always gave me good grades/marks but the people she didnāt like..... ooft. OOF.
Fksksjsj idek about headache season like i just know that i get headaches from the sun and iām allergic to only one.. type of...pollen??? (I donāt understand the science of that whole pollen thing and idek if itās called pollen in english i just know sex pollen from fan ficsš)and yeah we have this weird wind that makes a lot of people get headaches yeahd dkdkdj. i loved the i just love wearing as little clothes as possible LMAO lllioool i love that i really do. i always struggle so much in the summer cause i never have anything to wear. i feel like i buy so many new summer clothes every year but when i end up looking for an outfit i donāt ever find anything š (so i just go nakedā lmao jk jk) but iām generally not the biggest fan of summer so-
OMG THIS FUCKING BIRD ISTG, okay the first time i heard it i went to sleep at like 5 am, so the next day i was like let me go to bed earlier so the bird doesnāt keep me up, so i went to bed at 4 am (š„²) and THE BIRD JUST STARTED FUCKING CHIRPING SO LOUDLY, so the next day i went to bed at 3 am AND IT FUCKING STARTED AT 3 AM and itās still there š every. night.
and since you said youāve gotten used to my theme and everything (idk where this transition came fromš) so tomorrow (2nd april) we have our... wait whatās an anniversary but for a month.? I think month is like mensus in latin OK NO THATS DEF WRONG DKDKDJ wait
So Tomorrow is our... mensiversaryšššššš or at least from the first time you sent an ask. i couldnāt find it on my tumblr anymore because tumblr is a bit of a bitch but i remember the first thing you ever sent (in an ask) was something lovely about my writing and i always take screenshots of stuff like that, and i found it in my gallery. and i took that screenshot of your ask on the 2nd of march so iām assuming thatās when you sent it š„°š„° i feel like iāve known you for a week not a month like how is it a month already????? (i mean this in a good way lmao but i really canāt believe that its been a month wtf)
omg no you make me want to cry because i just love you so much ššš„ŗ but about the stretch mark thing itās just.. itās not even me trying to empower other women (or anyone else who has stretch marks) to shake off these dumb insecurities that the patriarchy and capitalism have instilled in usā ok no itās definitely that too lmao. But i mean Iāve always loved stretch marks, iāve just always loved loved loved them so much so it makes me genuinely sad that people donāt like them. so yeah. i dont really know how to explain it lol, like iām not (only) hoping that people realise that hating your stretch marks is giving the men and the patriarchy what they want per se- (that made no sense) itās just because i love stretch marks and think theyāre beautiful and also sexy. idk dldkdjls and omg the fact that you called me kind š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ like i donāt really have a goal in life or anything, but if i had to choose a āgoalā in life it would just be to be kind. (iāll end this here otherwise iām gonna talk about being kind for 30 more linesā)
And please. Do not ever feel like youāre annoying me or sending too much. never ever ever. I get so happy when i see that youāve sent me an ask. No matter if itās a long one like this or just a short one where youāre saying something about a post that i reblogged or something. I love hearing from/about you and talking to you šššššššš
P.S: iām so sorry for the tags youāre about to read they make even less sense than this post, also i reached the tag limit dkdkdj but i said some butterfly tattoos look tacky... and the next thing i said was since weāre already speaking about Ariana- I DID NOT MEAN THAT SHE WAS TACKY dldkdjsj, i meant since you already mentioned some of her tattoos lmao

Did you make any money today?Ā
Not today, because itās a weekend.
What was the highest place you've ever jumped from?Ā
Iām not too sure, actually. I tend to be cautious when it comes to jumping just because I always have this fear at the back of my head that I could possibly snap my legs in half upon landing lol.
Have you ever gone swimming in a river?Ā
I donāt think I have.
Is there something you really want to buy at the moment?Ā
I want a jumbo RJ doll but itās quite expensive and not one of my priorities at the moment.Ā
Would you ever consider culinary school?Ā
I want to learn how to cook but not passionate enough about it to enroll in culinary school altogether, so no.
What was the last souvenir someone got you?Ā
Itās been a while since anyone went anywhere...
Do you have a favorite remix of a song?Ā
Iāve never enjoyed remixes and just stick to original versions of songs. The one remix Iāll give a pass to is BTSā Mic Drop with Steve Aoki just because that one includes a dance break that sounds really nice and gets me all hyped up.
Has the power gone out recently?Ā
Yeah, like two weeks ago. I was working from home then so it had been a huge bother, but fortunately I had been charging my devices all day and also had enough data on my phone so I was able to continue.
Do you like driving at night?Ā
Itās ok and actually pretty relaxing if itās LATE late at night and thereās barely any cars. Driving in the evening during rush hour, on the other hand, is just fucking stressful.
What do you think is the most saddest sounding instrument?Ā
Depending on how itās played, probably the piano or violin.
Do you really pay attention to the ratings on movies?Ā
Yes. Itās a pretty influential factor.
Have you ever snuck in to a theater/dance/bar etc?Ā
No.
If given the chance, would you go to Ireland?Ā
I mean, itās not really on top of my bucket list but for the sake of travelling and experiencing a different place and culture I definitely would go to Ireland.
Are you afraid of standing on the edge of hills/skyscrapers/cliffs etc?Ā
I am scared but whenever Iām given the chance to do this I kind of scrap that fear first and live in the moment.
Do you have a favorite species of wild cat (tiger/lion/cougar etc)?Ā
No.
Do you have an absolute favorite name (boy or girl)?
Alessandra, 120%. It is so beautiful-sounding, plus I love that you can use "Alessa" as a nickname. My Silent Hill obsession is quite thrilled by that, ha ha. < I love that name too, now that I think about it. For now, I think Olivia still tops my list.
Are you good at pronouncing foreign words?Ā
My English is alright.
When listening to music, do you usually tap your foot etc to the beat?Ā
I tap my fingers more than my foot.
Have you ever literally cried on a friend's shoulder?Ā
Yeah but they were also my significant other then, so I dunno if that counts. Iām not super into physical touch so this isnāt something Iād do towards a friend, no matter how close we are.
Would you ever consider being a DJ at a party if you were paid?Ā
Nah, I would suck.
Do strapless bras work for you?Ā
No, my boobs are too small.Ā
Has anyone told you that they wanted to marry you/were planning on it/etc?Ā
No.
Do you feel comfortable enough to wear short shorts?Ā
Yeah, I just never really have the opportunity to wear them.
Have a favorite actor/actress from Old Hollywood? (Marilyn Munroe, etc)
AUDREY HEPBURNNNNNNNNNN
What's your opinion on people who stretch their ears?Ā
They can do whatever they want lol. Iām personally not a fan of the look but thatās my own problem to deal with.
Do you think tattoos are expressive art or unattractive?Ā
Expressive.
What is your school mascot?Ā
None of the schools I attended have one.
Have you ever seen a bear in the wild?
I have never seen a bear.
What's the book you're currently reading?Ā
Not reading anything at the moment.
Can you recall the most disturbing movie you've ever seen?Ā
Eraserhead. Requiem For A Dream is also stressful to watch, even on your 2nd or 45th rewatch.
Has anyone you know gotten mono?Ā
Possibly, but I canāt place names at the moment.
Have you ever picked an apple off the tree and eaten it?Ā
No. Aside from the fact that I donāt eat fruits, apple trees arenāt native here so Iāve never actually seen one.
Can you say yes/no in different languages?Ā
Oo/hindi, ne/ani.
Out of the traditional superheroes, which one is your favorite?Ā
I donāt like superheroes.
Ever peed in your pants after the age of 10?Ā
Not in my pants but my bed, but fortunately it just happened once.
Had any surgeries? What kind?Ā
I have not.
Ever told your parents you hated them?Ā
I had it written down on my journal when I was going through those rebellious puberty years, but it was only directed towards my mom because that had also been the peak of her emotionally/mentally abusive days. Itās funny because she snooped through my stuff then and saw the entry and ended up crying...and I didnāt even feel bad about it because 1) I meant what I wrote, and 2) she literally went through my shit. I still donāt feel bad about it.
Do you let your pets on your furniture?Ā
Yes they can get on the couch and my bed.
How do you feel about kettle cooked chips?Ā
I donāt really have an opinion lmao. If they are chips then they are going in my mouth.

Would you rather see someone of the opposite sex naked or nicely dressed?Ā
Idk.

My grandma or one of my aunts.

Not at this point in my life.
Do you prefer broccoli or asparagus?Ā

Objectively yes, but I no longer feel the attraction I once held for her.
Are you racist at all?Ā
No.
Do you read creepypasta? If not, you should.Ā
No thanks.
Have you ever vandalized?Ā
Yeah some desks when I was in grade school.
Would you ever scuba dive in shark-infested waters if you had the chance?
Most likely not. And by the way, they do not "infest" waters. That's their home. I hate that phrase so much. < This is a good point and Iād like to keep it here. Anywho, yeah Iām willing to do this but as far as I know they keep you in a cage when you go down in the water. Iād only do it if this was guaranteed lol.
Have you ever been drunk at work?Ā
Hungover, yes. Drunk while at work, hell no.
Have you ever hit a parked car with your car?Ā
No. My mom has done this with my parked car though -____- She had been backing up and I kept honking as she inched closer to my car, but she heeded me no mind until she finally hit me.

We probably had but I donāt remember the details anymore.

Yes, I liked reading those in like grade school and high school.
Would you be prepared to do a job that you didnāt like, if it paid well?Ā

No.

I donāt think so.
What words are most comforting to you?Ā
Words of reassurance, like,ļæ½ļæ½āIām just here,āĀ āYou donāt have to apologize.ā
How important is money to you?Ā
It is generally pretty important to me and Iām usually good at saving...Iāve just hit a road bump the last few months because getting into K-Pop means wanting to get something out of every new merch drop hahahaha. I went alarmingly crazy from April to June, but I made a vow to calm down starting this July; and so far, aside from pre-ordering the new Memories of 2020 DVD and buying some merch from the pop-up store, I havenāt bought anything else.

Movies and the Tracking Shot
In the language of film, there are many ways to place actors, props, or cameras in a way that conveys a message to the audience. The tracking shot is a specific way to include the audience into a situation on film and it really intensifies the experience. Some of the most anxiety inducing horror shots as well as introductions to a new world have happened with the tracking shot. Technically, any shot with camera movement could be described as tracking, but the really good ones tend to follow a character or group through a situation or world that is realistic but in some way other worldly because of the circumstances. Our current film under review for the AFI top 100, Goodfellas, has one of the most famous tracking shots, so I wanted to highlight it along with some other great tracking shots in film history:
THIS IS PRETTY SPOILER FREE, BUT SOME OF THE CLIPS ARE VERY VIOLENT AND INTENSE SO DONāT FOLLOW THE LINK IF YOU THINK IT WILL TRIGGER ANXIETY!!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paths of Glory (1957)
This is one of the first real tracking shots and the camera is literally on a track. You can actually see the track along the ground as you are lead through a trench in WWI along with Kirk Douglas. It is horrifying in that it really displays the British idea of keeping aĀ āstiff upper lipā as hundreds of men who are obviously terrified, as they are surely about to get slaughtered, make way for their commanding officer to lead them over the trench wall. This film was a favorite of Winston Churchill how complemented the realistic depiction of officers in trench warfare. The film was directed by Stanley Kubrick, who later showed his affinity for this type of shot. Here is a link to the clip which also shows the raiding run after the trench tracking shot:

The Shining (1980)
The initial lack of sound and the steady cam shot by operator Garret Brown that follows Danny Torrance through the halls of the empty hotel is haunting. As the boy pedals his tricycle, creepy music slowly builds until he finally runs into the infamous twins. It establishes the loneliness and the inability to escape. There is nothing for this child to do but explore alone, an activity which will only lead to danger. It is not an intense scene per se, but there are few better ways to establish the world of the Overlook Hotel. Here is a clip that shows the scene:

Goodfellas (1990)
I love this scene because it goes from a dirty alley back through the kitchen/ backroom and into a fancy club. It shows the lead character progressing from the streets and through the life of a working stiff (paying off people as he goes) and ending at a table prepared just for him at the front. He basically walked his new girlfriend through his life in a single 2 minute shot through the club. An absolute masterpiece of cinematography by Martin Scorsese. Here is a link to the clip as well as a link to the deep dive discussion with the steady cam operator:

The Russian Ark (2002)
I have seen this film a couple of times and it is more of a technical accomplishment than a great story. The film is made up of a single study cam shot with almost 1000 actors and 3 orchestras all filmed in a single museum in Russia. It is the story of a French aristocrat dreaming about 200 years of Russian history and the constant movement does make it all feel dreamlike. The producers could only manage one day to use the museum and they could not damage anything or add structures to set up cameras so the entire 96 minutes was done with a single shot in a single take. The amount of rehearsals and planning that were needed for this is mind boggling and it is worth a watch to give respect to the effort along. Here is a link to the trailer if you want to get an idea of what the film is like:

Children of Men (2006)
This is the most constantly intense movie that I have ever experience and I do not rewatch it because even individual scenes cause me great anxiety. I have seen it once all the way through without pausing and that was enough for me. There are actually many tracking shot scenes throughout this film that last from 5-10 minutes at a time, and this is including my personal most panicky shot that I remember experiencing in the theater. There is a car ambush scene that has the camera in the place of someone in the car swiveling around to try and keep up with what is coming. It is active in that you feel like you are being attacked, yet it is passive in the way that there is nothing the audience can do to help or protect themselves. Straight out of a nightmare. I kind of a hate the scene for how bad I felt afterwards, but I love it because I recognize how good the cinematography was to affect me so strongly. I have a link for the clip below and, although it does not affect me the same since I have watched it many times, I want to give a quick warning to watch at your own risk because it is violent and intense:

Birdman (2014)
This film won Oscars for Best Picture and Best Cinematography as the entire film is made up tracking shots. The lead character is suffering through a mid life crisis as the character he played as a young man has almost become his identity and haunts him as he tries to re-establish himself as a serious actor director and notĀ āthe guy the used to be Birdman.ā There are many great tracking scenes, but I think my favorite is one in which he gets trapped outside the theater and he has to run through time square in his underwear to get back around to his dressing room. Here is a link to that scene, but I recommend checking out the movie and try to count how many cuts you can actually see. There arenāt many:

The Revenant (2015)
I also saw this film in the theater and it is extremely intense, but I was ready for it because a friend of mine compared the opening to Children of Men. That put me on guard and I am glad because it is brutal and unforgiving like the situation. DiCaprio plays maybe the toughest character ever based on a real person and the man suffers greatly all in the name of vengeance. He is with a group of fur traders and they are attacked by Arikara warriors. Walking along as a bystander as the horrors unfold for six minutes is an amazing way to introduce the savagery and pain of a fur traderās life in the new world. These men did not belong there and those tribes who did belong were not welcoming to outsiders destroying the food source. There is also a bear attack sequence in this film, but the computer graphic additions kind of ruined it for me. Here is a link to the opening attack scene and, again, it very violent and intense so watch at your own risk:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are many other films that utilize this kind of tracking cam and often the effect makes it end up like a first person shooter video game. This is a perfectly viable way to have a tracking shot, but I donāt feel like it gives the same intensity as the above examples. I movie that was done completely in first person was Hardcore Henry (2015) and it is fun to watch; Doom (2005) has an extended first person scene as well. Chase scenes in horror films will have this first person view as well, although a with a prime example being Halloween (2018) does a fantastic job of this during the trick or treating home invasion scene:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy2kMtJa2q8Ā (warning! very violent)
The tracking shot is a great tool to bring the audience into the directorās world and it can be used to great effect.Ā Are there other examples not listed that exemplify the technique?
