i love doing art for my friends 🥹 which one's your favourite??
[ COMMISSIONED WORK, DO NOT USE ]
(some rambling about the process of these under the cut!)
@mommajibi is an extremely detail-oriented person, so when she reached out to commission an emote pack i was super excited to see what she had in mind! (we artists love when we don't have to do all of the work thinking up emote poses...she had a Word doc with a list and descriptions!!)
she wanted to freshen up her existing emotes, which were also done by a friend (but many many years ago), and she wasn't sure she still liked the aesthetic of her original emotes. her original character was, in essence, classic Batgirl (with the blue suit) with a pink bow on one ear and pink hair. very cute!
i asked her what elements she wanted to keep and what elements she wanted to change. she was pretty settled on keeping a variation of Batgirl with pink hair, but wanted her to read more goth, and was fine with losing the blue suit. so i did a concept doodle!
my original concept doodle switched the suit to a very dark grey, and no eyebrows were showing, but otherwise i think i stayed pretty true to it in the final emotes, all things considered!
the dark grey suit blended in on black/dark backgrounds (i run Discord on pure black AMOLED mode, and i would have had to outline the whole emote in white to make it pop, which i don't like as a general rule), so i shifted the colour to a purple-grey instead, which proved to be much easier to see and gave us an added bonus of purple!!!!!!! (we love purple 😌)
i think my favourites of the bunch are "Gimme" and "Aww," the leftmost two on the bottom row. JB asked for their eyes to have an anime look and while i wish i'd been able to accomplish something more detailed, i think where they are definitely hits that vibe. hopefully this is the start of my ability to add these types of eyes to my toolkit!

There's a lot of posts that tell you to REBLOG ARTISTS* MORE, which is great in theory but in practice my response is always "I do reblog whenever I like something- I don't want to reblog things I don't care about?"
My best advice is to instead apply the mental filter: Is there an artist you follow where every 5-10 pieces they post you ADORE?
Reblog everything they post you even kind of like.
That's actionable! You can do that! This isn't Reblog All Art Ever, this is Reblog Most Art From Some Blogs You Really Like. This has the benefits of 1. Making reblogging artists feel Achieveable instead of like an endless pit of 'not doing enough' and 2. Making you feel personally invested in those artists as people on a creative journey, and not just Delivery Vehicles For Blorbo Content
(*I say artists here but this also applies to writers and gif makers and topic-focused blogs that post sourced images and videomakers and poets etc etc. If someone makes things you sometimes really like, consider being ~30% more benevolent with your reblogs than you normally would be.)

update!
i don't think i'm done but i am happy with where i'm leaving it for tonight 🥰
i don't really use this blog as a Real Blog™ but hey no time like the present right
anyway, i've decided to enter dbd's cosmetic contest this year and draw the cyberpunk/techwear meg cosmetic of my dreams. think nea cosmetics but meg-flavoured.
i'm a little bit stuck; the guidelines say there should be "a lot of detail/accessories" and i'm just not sure i'm there yet.
it's a lot of black so probably i need to add pops of colour but meg doesn't really have a signature colour outside of ginger for me so i'm stuck there as well. i'm a purple person so my first instinct was a bright neon purple but i'm not sure that's fitting for her?
all of this being said, i would loveeeee if y'all could give me some feedback on stuff to add! i think a really cool graphic on the back of the hoodie could pull things together but that necessitates actually figuring out what it is 🤧
