I don't blame you honestly I had the same takes before the fandom made me believe that he's straight up evil until I started learning about jttw and god people mischaracterize his character so much it's insane
When I look back on my past takes on tripitaka and sun wukong relationship,I feel ashamed about how wrong I was,tripitaka not abusive,I misunderstood their relationship because I only had limited information about them,I had my own bias,because of how much I love sun wukong,I am glad I have change my take on them,that I got more information and branch out my knowledge.

I've seen people in the fandom call Macaque's smoke monster 'kaiju', but this is not a correct denomination.
It is better to call it "法相" (fa3 xiang4), meaning "image of (commonly Buddha)"
"佛教术语，指诸法之相状，包含体相（本质）与义相（意义）二者"
Trans.
"A Buddhist term that refers to the appearance of all dharmas, including both physical appearance (essence) and righteousness (significance)"
Following this definition, a 法相 is your true self, your essence, both physical and spiritual... meaning that Smokey (little guy) is not a 'kaiju'. It is an essence, Macaque's.
Same goes to all manifestations of characters who have a version of their 法相, it's their true essence.
Yes, you got it right! This little (not so little) guy is also a 法相.
(Don't call them 'kaiju', please).
Just to add, they can also be called 'war forms', since they appear in the original jttw.

Don't worry it's not you I agree with you and i love the writing of the show I just been feeling a little frustrated about how some people in the fandom treat wukong like he's a "villain" but yeah i like your theory on what might happen I kinda hope it happens it would be interesting
If swk get blamed for everything in the next season I swear I'm going to lose it not everything is his fault he had enough he doesn't deserve to be yelled at idc what anyone say he had enough sure he made mistakes in the past but he already redeemed himself and that's alot more then all the other characters wukong is mature enough to say sorry when he's wrong like the end of season three that's more then any other characters (macaque let's be real) he's a good person other characters deserve to be yelled at come on! like the brotherhood and macaque leave wukong alone I swear he get treated worse than the actual villainess in the show

something about wukong love for the pilgrims keeps him in pain no matter how many times have past he can't stop wishing they were here with him, he never even talk about them that much properly because he still grieving them
I think that's why he didn't want to get closer with anyone in the first seasons especially tang, pigsy, and sandy It's probably awkward and painful to be around them sometimes
And this is a bit of a personal headcannon but I think wukong gives all the love he feels to mk
Mk is all he have right now he doesn't really try to get closer to anyone else at least not right now
