about to drop literally the sickest insider knowledge you will ever receive pls use it responsibly:
are you a teenager? do you wish you had the space & resources & organization to do a thing, whether that's an anime club or a movie night or a big craft workshop or creative writing group or literally whatever? would you like to do your thing totally for free? yes?
okay, then bring it up to a librarian
seriously, teenagers are the absolute hardest group to engage at most libraries & we'll often organize programs that absolutely no one will show up to & it sucks. if you go up to a public librarian & say "hey, some friends & i want to do this thing. does that sound like a feasible teen program for the library?" most people will move heaven & earth to pull it off for you because we know there's an interest in our community. we will go balls to the freaking wall to make it happen
do you want a cosplay contest? a video game tournament? a free escape room? bring it up to the library. it's not a burden or an annoyance at all. it'll be like christmas came early for us

I saw someone say there is no middle class in publishing, and this is right where that sentiment came from. And it's TRUE.
if i have to see one more tIkToK iNfLuEnCeR get a seven figure book deal for a self-pubbed series that went viral on tiktok while other authors scrape by and other writers can't get their foot in the door, i will mcfuckin lose it

The problem is not that YA books aren’t supposed to have sex and romance. YA books should absolutely explore sexuality and answer all of the questions teens have about sex and relationships. However, if it’s doing so appropriately, the sex isn’t going to be spicy, steamy, or hot. It will encompass awkward first times, experimentation, and moments of sexual discovery that resonate with what teens are experiencing or likely to experience. Adults won’t find this sexual content arousing because that’s not really its purpose in YA literature. Having steamy and sexy romance in adult novels and erotica is perfectly appropriate, but it doesn’t make sense for books trying to capture the average coming-of-age experience realistically.
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK 🗣🗣🗣

Aeduan did the Darcy hand flex. I repeat. The Darcy hand flex.
“He took a moment to answer, his hand flexing, as if she’d squeezed too tight.”

sitting in my room reading books...
This is for the people who didn’t party in their teens and twenties. For the people who didn’t have that “coming of age” movie experience with shenanigans and revelations. This is for the people who mostly keep to themselves. Who maybe prefer things to be quieter and gentler. This is for the people who don’t feel like they belong in a culture that values loud parties and flashing lights. I see you. And you are valid.

So are we all in agreement that Cam definitely has some type of Witchery that will come out in the finale?

I think my favorite thing about Aeduan and Iseult is that they are obviously head over heels for eachother but neither of them has any frame of reference for those feelings so they're just ????? at all times. they're basically the "what was that?" "affection" "disgusting. do it again." meme

For all that Truthwitch does fall into several bad YA clichés, we get explicitly tall and explicitly muscular women from page one. We get Merik's flustered thoughts at the realisation that he and Safi are the same height. We get Iseult literally outgrowing all that she was. After chapters of Merik being described as well-built and strong, we learn that Vivia is the same as him

The highly-anticipated finale in Susan Dennard's New York Times bestselling Witchlands series. Paths converge and prophecies unfold as Safi and Iseult—the legendary Cahr Awen—fight their way across the Witchlands to heal the final Origin Well. With ancient figures rising from the past, the Raider King’s armies gathering for war, and the magic at the heart of everything dying too fast, the entire world is now on the brink of collapse. But when Safi and Iseult reach the Air Well with the Bloodwitch Aeduan at their side, they discover too late that Eridysi's Lament is not the prophecy they thought it was—and their journeys are only just beginning.
