My coping mechanisms may be worse than my actual problems 🙃

My brother told me a long time ago that no matter who you "have", you still ONLY have yourself.

I could not understand this until now. How many people have promised to stay? How many are still here? All the "I love you"s. All the "no matter what"s. All the "forever"s.

Having borderline just tops the cake. When we say forever, we mean it. Parts of me belong to so many people.

Forever mourning what has been lost.

I wonder if I ever even cross their minds.

borderline personality disorder is known for making it hard for people to manage their emotional reactions. most of us with bpd were punished or shamed as a child for being emotional. our feelings & thoughts were never valid & we never learned how to control our emotions. since we never know what emotions or reactions are correct, we just end up with too much all at once & boil over. we were never able to understand if our feelings were correct in certain situations, which makes things much, MUCH harder.

Being a Borderline adult is tragic. But I am able to stand and fight now.

Being a Borderline kid/teenager... my heart breaks for my younger self and anyone else that gets talked down to EVERYDAY because "you're too young" to understand yourself, or because "it's just a phase"
