Silky, satin darkness.

I bought myself a pair of brown Hush Puppies comfort pumps for some of my outfits. I wanted something a bit more casual than my brown dress pumps. I screwed up with the sizing. I thought Hush Puppies ran small, so I got the next size up. These pictures are the result of my mistake. They turned out to be a bit long and wide. As you see in the pictures, there is gaping everywhere. Even when wearing my thick tights. They are great looking shoes, especially when I pair them with my Laura Ashley dresses.

I was wearing my long vintage 1990s Lands End cotton flannel plaid skirt with a nice thick pair of navy blue tights from Rachel and a vintage pair of Ashley Taylor (Walmart) skimmers.

Skimmers were all the rage from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s. They were ballet flats with a small elevated heel. This style took over in popularity after the bow ballet flats waned and were supersede by the plain ballet flats of the late 1990s which turned into the revival of the now classic bow ballet flats which overtook the last two styles by 2004. Skimmers are pretty much a defunct style by the turn of the 21st century. I was fortunate enough to find this pair 8 years ago.

In knitted serenity

Amanda is living the Suite life.

She is ready to go out and impress the world. Amanda is outside on the deck of her suite in her parents' high-rise penthouse. She is going out with her mother and her au pair to buy new school clothes at the most exclusive boutiques in the city. After all of that shopping, they are going to a Michelin three star restaurant to lunch. It's an extraordinary life if you appreciate it, like Amanda does.
