Spotify Liked Songs Genre Filter
Hey ya’ll! Recently, Spotify implemented a new feature, the genre filter in the liked songs playlist. It came into effect late February and is available on android & IOS. The genre filter is only applicable to your liked songs playlist and the genre options appear in a bar above the songs in the playlist. You can select and deselect these buttons to choose filters such as, ‘country, rap, folk, musicals, rock’, etc..
I have been testing this out in my daily use when I don’t feel like choosing a specific vibe but would like to stay in genre. I’ve noticed that it’s definitely still has some kinks to work out. I, for one, have been experiencing songs that don’t fit into the genre being selected. I feel like Spotify definitely has some weird feelers out when categorizing music in this feature. It’s almost like they went for a -vibe- instead of a true genre. Then, there’s a few songs on specific genre’s filters that are entirely different genre than what you’ve selected.
What’s your opinion on this new feature? What bugs have you caught with it, if any? Has it been useful to your listening experience?
Hope to hear what everyone thinks!

steel and 70′s hitchhiker vibes
Funnily enough the majority of this playlist is songs from the 2010′s despite what the title says. A lot of acoustic and a sprinkle of steel vibes. This playlist contains a lot of folk subgenres, americana, and roots rock. It is aptly named “popupcollar” because it feels like the drunken tiredness and unruly collar of your shirt after a celebration, yet it also tells about the the wet, foggy mornings and evenings that leave your head clear and prompt you to pop your collar up so your neck stays dry. I hope ya’ll give it a chance and enjoy!
