Two lines representing two single digits, blue and yellow lines like on the Arcade machine, like the blue hair tie/bracelet and yellow watch....
...or two half Coke bottle magnets (like it's split in half) or two EEG graphs. And if A represents 1, it makes a "MadMax" an Eleven just like Max mathematically means 11. (Johann Sebastian Bach was obsessed with the number 14 because it meant "Bach" - like two brothers like to use numbers as 11 or those that equate to 11 or 20 all the time example: Will needs a 13, rolls a 7. 13+7=20)
Or making a character taller than the actress actually is: 5+6 = 11
And place that number right there.
Two lines....
And making a clear distinction between El and Eleven in the script which then makes this introduction of Max to El even more hilarious if you think in numbers.
Ah, yes, fiction. The place where you can actually go full "conspiracy" and place clues everywhere because: it's literally fiction. You know like stories in which treasure hunters try to find the Big Whoop (no idea if anyone gets that reference) or something and you make stuff up. Or just use foreshadowing even in a dumb comedy show as I recently learned to point to the reveal.

You already know the "This is Max"/we see El through Max image - the reversed shot is interesting too.
The drawing of Max's hair becomes an extension of El. We have the bubble with the two figures and a light reflection...
...like in the class room scene.
If you put both of these images side by side you get a Janus head.
Janus is "the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways" (Englisch Wikipedia)

It's a cover-up.
ElMax and it's secret has been covered up literally. Like Hopper proceeds to...
... cover the owl.
You see the horse only for a moment and they use Mike but more importantly...
... Will Byers (his arm) as a literal cover up.
And distraction especially in regards to the "heart". Or blue and yellow even though it's directly in front of us (like their secret too). Hiding them holding hands with other characters.
Like literally covering them holding hands with this Back to the Future Lametta foil stuff...
Blue and Yellow is not a Byler-exclusive color combination and with Lucas as the connection to it it's obviously the blue hair tie/bracelet and yellow watch. Yet large parts of the fandom are focused on something else and you could say: by design. Hyping up and shifting the focus through the Duffers themselves on one thing. These guys like to mix truths, half-truths and blatant lies - some can directly be identified as such as they are at odds with other statements example "making character arcs early on"≠ "changing Max's fate from dying permanently to now coma" doesn't, um, compute and would change several other arcs and the story as a whole (yet people fall for that !! ). Anyways: only trust them to a certain degree.
The coma and therefore waking is an integral part of the plot because they literally linked ElMax with their hearts and with Max inside the heart shaped exit it's obvious that they are shifting of someone being the heart of the party to someone else (actually, El herself misinterprets her own feelings for Max as feelings for Mike and we can see that when we overlay Robin's coming out speech with El seeing Max for the first time...) . Because someone will be gone, sleeping over and wake up as a "corpse'.
Sorry if this sounds like a rant but certain things are not given the attention they deserve. Just saying.

Did you know that the old Greeks thought that hares are hermaphrodites (because they multiply so fast)?
LBT: Lesbian - Bisexual - Trans.
The hare placed in Max's shelf as a trans code/allegory. (Besides the "Can't stop" board game... "If you want to stop One")
This fits into the constant misunderstanding of Max being a boy when she's actually a girl (and her "tomboyish" coding), the boys do it, Jason is let to believe it when Erica opens the door, Owens does it. "Give him the medicine." Or her.
(Henry/Edward kills a hare as if he is killing his own potential transness that some have identified.)

Both Lucas and Erica are paralleled in winning the game...
....and Lucas throwing the Skittle and Max swallowing it midflight is a parallel of Lucas scoring (followed by the ElMax linking - Back to the Future reference scene in the memory sequence).
Oh, and there's the 008. In a mirrored way, just like 011 was mirrored in the hospital room number 110.

Thinking.... Timelines....loops.... A Neverending Story?
"And there upon a rainbow is the answer to a neverending story"
Split timelines.
What is a Neverending Story? A time loop.
Max stops the loop (stops listening to RUTH constantly/in a loop) ...
El stops the loop.
So, what combines timelines and loops?
A Möbius strip. If you write the Grandfather paradox on a Möbius strip, both things are true at the same time and a paradox is no longer a paradox. Two timelines entangled and in a loop.
And spinning is an ElMax theme. The hair tie/bracelet and watch probably represent both these aspects since both are circular. One is time. One is two timelines entangled....
However ElMax isn't looping anymore and that's maybe the reason why El can't see anything in the Void ....but that's for another post. This image reminds me of the timeline branches in Loki and timelines have what? Variants. Variants that may look exactly like the character you know or completely different.
Sidenote: the German composer Johann Sebastian Bach (two of his works are used in the show) was a genius, his works were mathematical and one song is written like on a Möbius strip before that concept was even a thing. He was obsessed with the number 14 because his name mathematically meant 14. Like two brothers are obsessed with the number 11.

Millie's reaction is no surprise to me.
Note how she says that it's her character's "ending" not the end - you'd assume that her ending is tied to the end? Though, "ending" in this case is obviously not "ending" in the traditional way. (It's cleverly worded and they'd obviously agreed verbally what she would say if asked. What is and is not said is always staged - they make contracts, sign NDAs etc.)

El's current outfit in 5 is reminiscent of Superman, wearing some sort of red shorts over the joggin trousers or leggings or whatever (I'm not a fashion guy).
Foreshadowing that she will fly...

Ghost in the Shell, 1995 - influenced Matrix which is a direct inspo of ST.
It should be noted that Ghost in the Shell is about identity, gender and the very existence itself, this was then used in Matrix in a similar allegory yet for a western audience - Stranger Things is doing this too. The core question of "Who is El?", her true identity, who nobody could answer or give her and Brenner is alluding to, was actually answered by herself: This is Max. - This actually deserves a separate post.

Be a hero give blood
According to some historians they filled blood into Coke bottles during the Pearl Harbor attack. (Note the "Old west relics" ad paper and the name Russell, probably Charles M Russell, an American painter of cowboys, native Americans etc.)
El and Max, their hearts that pumps blood, are connected through the Coke bottle, visually and via sound. El has two Coke bottle magnets in her drawer too.
Technically, those are two half bottles or a single (full) bottle split in half. Split.
"Be a hero give blood" is nothing more than a call to give one's life for another person - it's something you would expect in a hospital. But you'd also expect a "Rabies" warning poster in a summer camp I guess, yet you see those in "The Quarry". 😉

Blue & Yellow or El and Mike don't match...
Blue and Yellow, which are complementary colors, are used to point to love/couples. El's and Mike's colors aren't matching, even the game points that out. It's Blue and Black.
The game scene is reminiscent of the moment in which Mike gives El some M&Ms (like MM) and Max is in the background too.
Interestingly it shows Max in the background. Those are her socks.
Blue & Yellow in regards to ElMax is the hair tie/bracelet & watch, two of the most consistent wardrobe choices in the show.
