"didn't know what to do with them" and stuck them together and derek, spencer's boyfriend practically lives in their room because spencer hates going out, derek doesn't get along with his roommate, and luke doesn't mind since he's usually out with his girlfriend

and then luke starts returning to their room in increasingly worrying states, drunk and dissociating with bruises his "clumsiness" can't explain, but whenever they of them ask, he disappears for the night, so they stop pushing

until he stops sleeping, stops taking care of himself, stops going out, even for class, and spencer and derek are at a loss, just trying to convince luke to talk to someone about what's going on

and it all comes to a head when one of luke's concerned "friends" texts derek, basically telling him that luke's girlfriend abused him, and right before he stopped going out, the abuse became sexual, and now they're group is just wondering if luke is still alive because they've known he's been struggling and just haven't done anything about it

so then derek and spencer finally get through to luke a little and just take care of him until he's well enough to go out and get professional help

uhhh and then they live happily ever after and kiss or smth

listen, usually i imagine luke's parent(s) being amazing and supportive and all that, but hear me out:

(i think this idea/trope? originally came from the hp fandom but i don't know and im snatching it)

but it's afab, transmasc luke who's mother wanted a daughter more than anything, and when luke came out, she did try her best to be supportive, but it wasn't easy for either of them and their relationship got worse

she had luke young, so by the time she's pregnant with his sibling, luke is in the army, and while he does keep in touch, he's distanced himself from his family a little

then he hears his sister has been born, and at first, he's overjoyed, but then he learns she has his deadname and it's like a punch in the gut

so he has to navigate wanting to be in his sister's life while also trying so hard to forgive his mother/family, because they don't understand, but it still sucks and it hurts

we looked at this poem in english class today that just reminded me of luke as a dad and i almost cried about it (and also it's a good poem)

+ it also made me think of ralvez because of "you say give me til the redbud tree or give me til the persimmon tree because she knows the trees" and i almost cried at that too

also spencer being able calm down/get out of fight or flight around luke by allowing himself to be vulnerable around him and cut off his senses (cover his eyes, putting on noise canceling headphones, etc.) to let his body and brain relax because spencer trusts luke so implicitly and wholeheartedly believes luke would alert and protect him from any harm while he's "resetting"

anyways ik the criminal minds fandom loves making spencer dissociate when stressed/triggered (and i do too, don't get me wrong) but also i think he'd lean towards more hyper vigilance rather than tuning things out

What people don’t realise is a lot of development happens between your pre-teens and early 20s and the American education system is built (poorly) to adhere to that development. Reid skipped it all

He skipped the school events and the making friends. He graduated high school at age 12 so at that point, any chance of normal socialisation with anyone even close to his age was gone. He was alone with his unwell mother and didn’t even have the opportunity to make true friends (apart from Ethan, but we don’t know what age he was or how old they were when they met), his only true socialisation would have been with adult academics

My point is, he missed out on a lot of social and emotional development. He then joined the FBI when he was (from what I can work out based on the flashback in season 3) 21/22. As a 21 year old myself, this is a prime time for learning about the world, about life and how it works and about your place. It’s a time to make mistakes and learn from them as you get used to adulthood. Reid never got this, he entered into a field where mistakes aren’t allowed, where he has no free time to explore all of the experiences adulthood has to offer

Reid relies heavily on people like Morgan and Hotch and Rossi and Gideon to be his guidance because without it, he would never have any other opportunity to learn how to grow and navigate life. someone reblogged one of my headcanons relating to the hc, then saying "i don't like this hc" and it's been confusing me for like 12 hours

listen. i don't care if they dont like my headcanon, or even if they want to publicly announce it, but the circumstance is so confusing and i need to know what they meant.

one headcanon hill i will DIE ON is luke alvez being a natural lefty, but he taught himself to be a righty because he was raised catholic in the 70s

but he still retained his left-handedness to some extent, and as he got older and redefined his relationship with catholicism, he started alternating between hands and became ambidextrous, but still prefers his right hand in most day-to-day activities after favoring it for so many years

and then he joins the bau, and as luke gets more comfortable (1) with himself and (2) with the people around him, he stops putting so much conscious thought into which hand he uses, and maybe he gets injured or something, but at some point, spencer notices luke writing with his left hand and brings it up while they're alone, which leads to luke kinda just spilling his guts about how some older and less tolerant parts catholicism still affect him, and for the following weeks, spencer just starts writing with his left hand too because he's technically ambidextrous (his handwriting is god awful with both hands)

its just a small gesture, but it helps luke feel a little less isolated and he eventually starts using his left hand pretty regularly until penelope, the team's resident lefty since hotch left, finds out, and she makes a huge deal out of it and gets him all kinds of pens and a collection of other odd trinkets designed for lefties, and luke just feels so seen

also he's good with both his hands iykwim ;]
