Danny and Dani agreed to go to another dimension to be twin super villains as a convoluted and turnabout way to train and prepare their heroes for something much bigger, much more life threatening.
what they did not agree to was being de–aged with no memories and being abandoned at a Gotham dump while looking like toddlers.
At least they kept all their knowledge, and the sanitization worker who took them in was nice.
Too bad they would grow up to be a Mad Scientist super villain duo. Until then, they would be good for dad, study hard, and prepare to fight super hero.

So much can happen in an hour, and so much will happen in the course of 16 years!
If Star and Marco went to dimension X–103 together, we could have had coming of age bs, progression of a companionship, what does it mean to grow up, what is home, a break down of the heroes journey, what is change, what is family, what is love Oh baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more, how does trauma affect change you.
And if the idea worked like cannon aside from only Marco growing up inside, what would it feel like to be charged and new and different, but home isn't. To be forced back into a mold, you no longer fit.
