Took me one look at this The Terror poster to know immediately exactly where it's from
To be more specific, this illustration ties to this exact part of the poem:
And through the drifts the snowy clifts
Did send a dismal sheen:
Nor shapes of men nor beasts we ken--
The ice was all between.
The ice was here, the ice was there,
The ice was all around:
It cracked and growled, and roared and howled,
Like noises in a swound!

“Many years ago, being an explorer was the best job in the world. The perks were obvious: months at sea far from loved ones with a good chance you might starve to death.” —Map Men, The Phantom Island of Google Maps

tbh the more time you spend around open, wild bodies of water like rivers, lakes and seas the more you begin to understand why pretty much every culture in the world has a similar eerie, hypnotically beautiful yet terrifying temptress figure who lures people into the depths to drown them and/or eat them in its folklore representing the seductive call of the water. it really is just like that.

i’m reading Realm of the Elderlings for the first time (PLEASE IF YOU COMMENT ON THIS POST NO SPOILERS PAST LIVESHIP) and whatever Fitz and the Fool have going on in Fool’s Errand is sooo fucking funny
in Farseer Fitz spends the whole series being like “this is my weird little freak the Fool. he is a bizarre mutant who speaks in riddles but he’s my friend so be nice. :)”
then the Fool leaves for a decade and when he comes back ALL of Fitz’s internal monologue is like “the Fool… my bosom companion with eyes that shine like the life-giving sun. i missed his breedable hips and angelic features so much that i almost died. every second his statuesque frame was parted from me was pure agony. i am so lucky to have such a funny intelligent and also devastatingly beautiful very good friend by my side. hopefully forever”

Everyone wanted to be thicc but nobody wanted to be fat. Everyone wanted the dad bod but nobody wanted to be fat. Everyone wants fat mommy milkers but nobody wants mommy to be fat. Everyone wants to be a bear but not like, an actual fat bear. You get what i’m saying

Katsuki Yuuri is so funny because dude is an Olympic level figure skater who competes internationally regularly and he introduces himself through narration in the first episode as very average in skill, who is doing it like him.
Your self confidence may be bad but is it deluding yourself into thinking you suck at something you rank sixth in the world at bad?
