For as much a skeksis fan I am, I'm suprised I haven't posted this earlier. I have one of the Weta workshop resin statues for the hunter.
I love the detail as well as the fact he shows off that skeksis have 4 arms.

Google Maps is worse than useless - actively harmful
Hard to overstate how enshittified and botshitted Google Maps has become. Went looking for my local locksmith on Gmaps. Maps shows 20+ fake locksmith referral scam outlets and doesn't even register the real locksmith, despite it being fully visible in Street View.
Instead, a red pin on the shop identifies it as a fake locksmith scammer. The real locksmith - which has been there SINCE 1942 (!!) and is a verified merchant - doesn't even show up.
Google has been promising to clean up locksmith scams since the early 2010s, and has completely failed. A company that can't figure this out - but still has $80b for a stock buyback! - does not deserve the 90% market share in search it spends $26b/year to maintain.

Giant Microbes
And to rub it in squishmallows face, there are plush companies that are interested in saving lives. Giant Microbes, by Drew Oliver are medical themed plushies of microorganisms based on their electron micrograph. They come with educational info cards, and they partner with various medical charities they donate a portion of proceeds on select microbes to the relevant charity.
Alternatives to Squishmallow
So as many of you have probably already heard, Jazwares, the company that produces Squishmallows, is donating to charities that support Israeli soldiers and the IDF. They鈥檙e also supporting Canary Mission, which has been doxxing people who speak out against Israel. BDS hasn鈥檛 called for a boycott against them, but I can鈥檛 in good faith spend my money on their products, and I would strongly encourage everyone who enjoys plushies to really think long and hard about if you want to give your money to a company that鈥檚 helping support genocide!
But the holidays are coming up, and lots of us enjoy plushies and were fans of Squishmallow, and were planning to give Squishmallows to friends and family this year.
Fortunately, there are a number of great plushie companies out there, and I want to promote some of my favorites in the hopes that folks will get their plushie fix from a source that doesn鈥檛 side with Israel. So without further ado:
Fluffnest
Fluffnest got their start on Kickstarter a few years ago, and I adore the round shapes of their PuffPal plushies! My favorite is Pete the Possum, which is probably the best possum plush I鈥檝e ever seen. I鈥檝e also got a beautiful moth from their Kickstarter and I鈥檝e been wanting their bats for ages. They also recently had a Kickstarter for an Animal Crossing-esque video game featuring their plushie characters and it looks fantastic.
Squishables
I can鈥檛 get over the plague doctor plushies. They鈥檙e so perfect and cute, and they鈥檝e released other variations of them called Alter Egos, like a ghostly version, an alien, or a really sweet cottagecore one! They鈥檝e got a ton of variety, but what I like the most are the fantasy plushies. There鈥檚 a lich! There are dragons and demons! Cryptids! Biblically accurate angels! A lot of really fun stuff!
Also they do a lot of great charity work! Right now they鈥檙e doing an auction for the Food Bank of New York City.
AfternoonFika
AfternoonFika is a very small business of only three people, but their plushies are extremely cute. They tend to sell out fast, so I recommend following them on social media to stay on top of any restocks! They recently released a line of dinosaurs that are precious, and of course I love their iconic cactus cat and cinnamon bun bunny.
Jellycat
Jellycat has been around since 1999, so they鈥檙e the oldest of these companies. They鈥檝e got great designs, a ton of variety, and a lot of their plushies are made to be cuddled on and not just displayed. All three of my tiny nephews sleep with a different stuffed dog from Jellycat. My mom has a sun and several succulents that she uses as decorations. There鈥檚 a little something for everyone who enjoys plushies!
If you have any other favorite companies I haven鈥檛 mentioned, feel free to add on! I鈥檝e enjoyed Squishmallows for a while now and I鈥檓 sad to see their leadership coming out on the side that鈥檚 committing war crimes on a daily basis, but this is a good time to discover new favorite plushie companies! And remember, money speaks loudly. Even if BDS hasn鈥檛 called for a boycott of Jazwares, it sends a message when sales start dropping for companies that support genocide. It鈥檚 a small thing, but the little things we do can add up!

Ever since I saw SkekLa's art of the skeksis, (especially the youthful ones in their prime), I've always wanted a skeksona. And knowing my tastes, a very聽corpulent聽one ^^.
Though SkekDris cares about his personal fitness a fair degree more than other skeksis, (which most of them honestly) he still loves to flaunt around his heft. SkekDris, though a secretive hermit and scholar, adores having guests over for tea, indulging in exotic substances, and if one is so inclined - a night in his bed chamber. Though not to the self-destructive degree of other skeksis, hedonism is a core part of their being that can never truly be erased. Rather than try and fight it completely (which is an impossible task that ends in despair) or losing themselves entirely to their vices like the others, Skekdris has managed to find the fine line of control. Much like a sea captain; Rather than fight the current, they learn and understand it to use it in their travels without being subject to the whims of the sea.
Pictured left, is one of his servants. One of the聽emaciates聽mentioned in my previous lore post. In short, they are skeksis (or beings transformed into a skeksis-like vessel) that seem unhealthily thin - save for their protruding paunches - and yet seem just as fit as an ordinary person, perhaps even a moderately athletic one. Through dark rituals and deals, these emaciates are granted magical sustenance, vitality, and even extraordinary senses... at the cost of their vision.
In this matter for the first and current servant, SkekZur, they were already blind. These two characters sort of exist in my own setting/vacuum, but if were to fit them into in the dark crystal setting, I'd see it that SkekDris was likely exiled for bucking a lot of skeksis social norms - as well as him being a skilled magic user causing him to be seen as a political threat. SkekZur being blind made him a target of vicious bullying. Partaking in a ritual that was 'free' for him and secluding himself from the petty squabbles of the castle was an easy contract in his mind. Thus, though a bound servant, SkekZur is eager to serve. He has since worn a leather mask across his beak - as do all future emaciates - symbolizing their blind devotion. Though be warned, though they are blind, they quite sharp and remarkably independent when contrasted with other servants. SkekDris has learned many a pretty secret from those whom paid them too little mind...
