Anon I loved it! Thank you for recommending it❤️ (also wow that was really good smut?? the story was so sweet and cute that it blindsided me lol)
I noticed that the tags for the fanfic I recommended for you (High Violet) are few and vague, so...
Taehyung is a florist, he has a flower shop and develops a crush on Hoseok, who starts going to the store even though he is allergic to flowers.
It's a very cute, humorous and sexy story (Hobi bottom!).
Thank you for further info. While I was going to take your word for it, I appreciate the extra info. My eyes narrrowed in on "Hobi bottom" too. SOLD. I'll read it ASAP.

are you watching the documentary 'hope on the street?' i'm even more in love with hoseok
and did you like the album 'hope on the street'? what is your ranking?
I watched it. In love with Hoseok even more than usual. I watch him with a big stupid smile on my face. I really appreciated seeing him dance with nothing holding him back and just really having fun! He's so talented, and way too humble about it. Even though he's with experts and seniors in the field, he's in his element. I'm sure somebody else could say something with more depth, but that's all I have to say. He blows me away. I loved how it was shot so that I could see him dance in full. Sometimes on music shows and other programs, they tend to make a lot of cuts and it ruins the flow and hides his moves. We were able to see EVERYTHING he did and it was a full-course meal (him too, lol, especially in Osaka with that suit!). I loved seeing him being babied, when his hyungs in NEURON said he had a great smile I was just so happy too. Like YESSS he has a BEAUTIFUL smile and I'm glad I'm not insane for feeling that way too.
I loved the album too! I couldn't rank the songs, as I like them all. NEURON, of course, is probably my favourite. I also like What if, but that's cheating as that was from JITB
Honestly getting the album and documentary series definitely helped because I was missing them all so much and I find that Twitter isn't what it used to be so I can't scroll and find anything fun that the fandom is doing anymore. I'm in my feels about Jin at the moment, and I'm looking forward to seeing him back soon🙏
Also, Tae's FRI(END)S is probably my favourite single from him. Now, I think I like his album singles a little more, but this was such a banger.

I had my Hannibal obsessed phase (especially because of Mads Mikkelsen). I love this kind of art, dark, strange and morally dubious with lots of blood. I watched Bones and All (again, because of Taylor Russell) and really liked it.
About All of Them Dreams, I really think the movie A Ghost Story will make you think, it's like its description of the story. There is also a book called The Ghost Bride that addresses the world of spirits in Malaysia, it is a fantasy with a lot of Asian culture.
This year I read Carmilla, a classic vampire book that came long before and which inspired Dracula, about Carmilla and her obsession with beautiful women, especially the book's protagonist, Laura. It has everything that the term "vampirism" carries.
There's a film about cannibalism called Raw, it's very explicit, but it has some interesting discussions.
A list of films that are unique, in my opinion:
Antichrist is about a couple who lose their son and deal with their grief, but things go south in Act 3.
Climax is a crazy movie too, it makes me think of Hoseok because it has an opening about dancers explaining why they dance and then a long presentation with various dance styles, but again, things get dark.
Martyrs from 2008, in French (the remake is not worth it) about a religious sect that tortures people so that they are between life and death and can glimpse the other side and tell what they see.
I watched All of Us Strangers yesterday and, my god, the ending left me with my mouth open. It's Queer and talks a lot about loneliness. A writer visits his childhood home and meets his parents, but his parents died when he was a teenager. Meanwhile he starts to get closer to his neighbor.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer was one of my first in the "bizarre" genre.
I have more recommendations, but I don't know if you want them? I think I've already written too much.
No, thank you! Go ahead and recommend everything. My favourite kinds of media are those that are "bizarre" and strange!
To balance it out, here's some films and books that I enjoyed for being dark and strange:
The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires - a lot more gruesome and dark than the title insinuates! About a vampire. Weird stuff going on. A great allegory for community groupthink and underprivileged voices not being listened to.
Piranesi - the narrator lives in a great hall, flooded by the sea and full of columns and ancient greek statues. A really strange and magical world with a darker undertone!
House of Leaves - a really dense and convoluted novel with an "editor" writing and editing text around the story of a family who discovers a door in their house that leads into a dark and endless labyrinth
Handling the Undead - one day the undead wake up, and chaos ensues! Dark, haunting but also tragic.
Where I end - a dark and twisted story about a young woman who looks after her bedridden mother (read TW for this book regarding infanticide and abusive behaviours, etc.).
Here are some films that inspired All of Them Dreams:
The Devil's Backbone - takes place during the spanish civial war, boy abandoned in orphanage in the middle of nowhere, a ghost of a little boy tries to warn him.
Incantation - Taiwanese Horror Film about a mother who has cursed herself and her daughter, found footage style
The Wailing - Korean horror film, folk horror and shamanism.
The Others - woman whose husband is off at war lives in house with her two young children, strange servants show up one day to work, strange things happening in house.

i was thinking about villa di bestiarii (again) and i think sean would hate what taehyung did to him and i was sad
does the story take place in europe? i thought it was set in north america (i need to remember that north america is not the center of the universe (they wish it were, lol))
Yeah. What Taehyung did to Sean is pretty messed up. Sean absolutely hates it, both in his previous state as "human" and in his current state as "undead". His final ending is something I could also never put a finger on, which is why I left it so ambiguous. Even though he's more "conscious" than the other zombies, and may even improve, he will never be himself again and is entirely dependent on the control of Taehyung (+Hoseok), the necromancer. He is a zombie, a rotting corpse, and looks like it. He will not grow old, but at the same time, his entire existence is defined by the control of a necromancer keeping him alive. He also needs to eat the raw flesh of living creatures to sustain such energy. While he is "alive", he is like a puppet with a limited grasp on his own physicality and consciousness. It's definitely dehumanizing what happened, however, I also understand Taehyung's reasonings for doing it in the first place. First - he CAN raise the dead, so why not? Second, he genuinely believed that it would make Hoseok happy, and in a way it did. It's sad and disturbing, but was also how I always planned for him to turn out :(
The story does take place in Europe! I felt that "historical vampire AU's" always took place in a sort of "old timey" universe that didn't have a defined history, country or space. They usually don't feel like either South Korea, or anywhere in Europe. So, I wanted to have a story that felt like it could take place in the real world.
I chose Italy, for the simple reason that I like the culture and beauty of the landscape. I even chose a real location - Villa de Vecchi! You might notice some similar placenames I took liberty with around the area of this old villa. It doesn't exactly fit the description of the house in the story, but casts the same vibe I wanted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, I was inspired by some gothic literature and realistically felt that it was a good midway point of the old (Ancient Rome), the western world, and the east. Honestly, North America would have been a better location from the point of South Korea to sail to, but there wouldn't have been any old houses at that time, especially on the west coast. While I did a lot of research to make the characters and setting somewhat realistic, I did take a lot of creative liberties in having Koreans in Europe in the 1800's 😭 Honestly at time point in time, most East Asians were living in port cities like Liverpool in the UK and the majority were Chinese

Sorry, I was using Google Translate because I'm insecure with my English and didn't realize I hadn't translated it. It's not Spanish, but Brazilian Portuguese, it's kind of similar.
I think Leigh Bardugo made the Six of Crows characters teenagers to sell as youth fantasy, I like to imagine they are in their 20s.
I finished the Ninth House sequel, Hellbent, and it introduced vampires, it was a big surprise. Are you going to continue or not?
I am sorry for assuming! That's silly on my part.
Yeah, youth fantasy is the best way to describe it! Kaz Brekker is not 17 years old...he has the experience of a forty-year-old. I really cannot get behind that😭
Yes, I need to get the sequel, I forgot that it came out! Do you recommend it?

Oh, I'll be waiting for the sequel to All of Them Dreams. You're a great writer, who cares about Korean traditions (I've read some things about it and it's very different from where I live, at least). I learned a little about their culture by reading books about Korea, my favorite is White Chrysanthemum and Human Acts. Pachinko is great too.
Is your health better? I hope so.
I'm sorry you couldn't get the jobs (I'm also unemployed and… Well.)
A chapter update is imminent, but when I'm finished a certain segment I'm terrified that I'll lost momentum for the next parts, which puts me off publishing what I actually have completed.
Thank you! I really want to write with the intention of actually being respective to a culture that isn't mine. Sometimes I read fanfic and the member characters eat cereal each morning for breakfast and wear casual clothes to school and it completely ruins the immersion
Thank you for those recommendations, I'll add them to my to read list!
My health is always so-so and it does impact my mood, but I try to stay active at least. I'm still job hunting! (sob)

I can't believe you're going to write my suggestion about them being tennis players! I'm thrilled, I'll be looking forward to the day I can read it. Thanks! (Give me some possible spoiler tags or am I being pushy? Either way, I can't wait!)
spoilers? I'm going to say...rivals, hand injury, semi-public sex...

What about sports-themed fanfics? I would love one where they play tennis
yeah, this would make such a good one-shot, or enemies-to-lovers type story

Why did you stop posting All of Them Dreams???
For a variety of reasons, mainly because I was sick for a little bit, then lost momentum. I applied to two more jobs (didn't get) and also discovered that I reached a point in the story that required a bit more research into the traditional folk side of Korean spirituality that I did not want to misrepresent. So, I'm still working through the latter by doing some reading and research, so that even with my limited knowledge and understanding so that it isn't offensive. I did complete the next chapter, and now need to plan out the last 3 chapters and read through everything for consistency in the drafting process...fun! Also, in a way I'm glad that you at least are still interested. While I didn't anticipate a large audience for this fic, it does feel like there aren't many fanfic enthusiasts as there used to be, let alone for vhope and my self-indulgent story. Still, I'm pressing on, and plan to finish it ASAP.
The good news is, that I wrote a 10K bottom hobi with top taekook smut oneshot for a hobi fest...and am drafting a dark prehistoric fantasy namseok...so that's something new....

I'm curious about your name.
skateamini is a sort of pun on a word in a language for "excited". I also intended to write a sope skate AU when I made the username, and never got around to it. I also like minimoni, so it reminds me of that.

If you liked The Secret History of Donna Tartt, then I think you'll like If We Were Villains by M. L. Rio. It's about a group of theater student friends, with divergent personalities, complex relationships and, well, a death happens.
I read it! It was so good 💔

i don't read hobi top, yours stories are an exception
Best compliment ever. Thank you!
In my head I'm a bottom!hoseok writer. Delusional? Maybe! I depict him moreso a switch with a preference for bottoming 90 percent of the time. The only fic he doesn't top in is Howl. My toxic trait as a writer is being unable to write a fixed top/bottom couple. I'm just too interested in making characters switch. I will always write Hoseok as the "main" bottom though, as that's my preference I guess? I also pretty much exclusively read bottom/switch Hoseok fics.

Oh, I've never watched Nosferatu, do you recommend it? I know Robert Eggers is working on a remake and I love his films (I recommend The Witch and The Lighthouse). And, wow, the first link you typed is very close to what I imagined when I read Villa Di Bestiarii. I see the vampire playing the piano, desolate and heartbroken (does he have a heart?) The music is full of emotions, I don't know what to feel.
And I have to say: I love cannibalism as a metaphor for love, and even though it's not just a metaphor, Hoseok swallowing Taehyung's heart was… Everything.
What about All Of Them Dreams? I have to admit, I'm a little scared of the idea of ghosts. There is a very good film about grief and it involves the presence of a "ghost" full of meanings, maybe you should check it out, the name is A Ghost Story.
I actually did not see the remake I shared, as it was recommended by a lecturer of mine from college. The original is a classic! I am looking forward to the remake, Robert Eggers is incredible. Every single film he has made has inspired me! The pacing and hidden horror of the VVitch and the Lighthouse somewhat inspired Villa di Bestiarii. The Northman influenced some of my latter writing of Howl.
Your point about cannibalism as a metaphor...so true. Hannibal in the TV show and movies come to mind. Have you seen "Bones and All"? Genuinely one of my favourite horror romance films ever now. If you have any recommendations along these themes, send them my way. It's a weirdly specific kind of genre. I hate that sometimes I feel like Villa di Bestiarii is so niche that it's hard finding a real book with as many tropes rolled together.
The swallowing heart concept I hold very dear to me. I'm not sure where my idea came from exactly, but carnal love always has vaguely cannibalistic metaphors in music. In particular, I was influenced by the 80's new wave band Echo and the Bunnymen's songs "The Killing Moon" and "Nocturnal Me". The former is like a gay vampire story and the latter of which yearns for an all-consuming eternal romance that includes the lines "Take me Internally". Both songs are so weirdly gothic and queer despite the band having no intention of making it that way. (Too bad!). It's an aspect of the story I think about still as I think about their future together - the power Hoseok now holds, and over Taehyung, something that will remain until one or both of them dies. Until then, Taehyung now "worships" Hoseok. His actions of cutting out the heart of a demon/god/alien with immense power cultivated over thousands of years of sacrifices and eating it means that he now holds all bindings within his fragile human body. Yet, by taking possession of Taehyung's soul, he can actually set him free. It's very dark yet their undying love for each other counteracts the terrifying aspect of this. Fun!
I also incorporated cannibalism into "Howl" - due to food scarcity the animal hybrids are not above eating dead human soldiers. Very different approach. This culminates in a kind of weird and fucked up twist later.
Thank you for the film recommendation! I will check it out.
I will be honest about "All of Them Dreams" - it's very grim, and features my somewhat more agnostic take on the afterlife as something beyond our understanding, rather than dictated by comforts. It is inspired by traditional folk and pagan rituals too in its depiction. It's grim, and about unfulfilled dreams, but at the same time the ending will be hopeful. It might be best to read it once it is completed for this reason, or if it is not your cup of tea not to read it at all, I understand!
