Zecora Vulperosa V3 (Young Adult)

Same story with the kid version. I wanted to update the look from V2. I felt like V2's outfit looked to modern for a fantasy setting at the time. I felt V3's outfit was appropriate enough for me. I used some Dragon Ball fanart as a basis for this one, don't know the name of the artist though. I also really wanted to showcase the blend between human, fox and snow leopard on this one. So I made the tail longer and added spots on the face.

By this year, I feel like I developed my art style enough where I could pump out more work, more rapidly than before. And that I've gotten good enough to not need weeks to finish a drawing. So I figured, might as well redraw this character to show your growth and hopefully show more similarities between her, Lucas and Lilith. I was gonna start the redraw with an adult version but I wanted to challenge myself with making a kid version and a more dynamic pose.

The original concept of this drawing was one I abandoned in 2020. I had started on a drawing with a different outfit for this character but at the time I couldn't get the perspectives looking right. She ended up looking derpy. So come 2023, I sought to finish what I started. Glad I did. I made an alt color variant based on the original colors I was gonna use. I wanted to show a mix of snow leopard, fox and human here. If it wasn't obvious Lucas and Lilith are intended to be her parents.

At some point in 2020, I thought I've drawn my character Lucas a couple of times. So why not try something different? Here I started to give Lucas a family, starting with this one I named, Zecora. This was before Lucas was attached to any story concept or anything. So I hadn't envisioned any other details I may have wanted expect to just make her a fox girl. This was also a drawing from my friend that I adapted. So, I have no idea what reference he used.

Bronwyn Ruibos

The concept for this character was very spontaneous. Years ago there was this image I found of some screaming opossum character with a yellow hoodie in a mailbox. I saved the image years ago and that became the inspiration for this character. I envision her to end up becoming Lucas's apprentice at some point. I'm still working on her origins. But for now, she's just an abandoned child working for a thieves' den. I also decided to add a quick background cause I thought it would be weird to have a random tree, a character and nothing else but white space

Lilith Ashbluff

At some point, I thought of crafting a story with my character Lucas. This is a character I came up with to eventually join his team. She's a thief and a brawler.

This was a tough one to hurdle over. I wasn't used to foreshortening or general perspective art. I opted to give him a simpler outfit than v1.

Sometime in 2022. I got the urge to make a Sonic character. So I attempted to make one. But I ended up making the character in my own "style" as opposed to the Sonic character style and portions. Still was satisfied with how he turned out.

After cementing the look I was trying to go for, I went back and tried to make a kid version based on v6. Still had trouble getting proportions down but progress nonetheless

Lucas v6 - The Progenitor Version

I didn't finish this one till 2021. But when I did, it kickstarted a wave of inspiration for me for multiple reasons. In this particular version, I completed a full body drawing(albeit this drawing is based off an anime character I forget the name and show of. I think the name is Grimoire Fantasy? I'm not sure. This was also a hand-drawn template from my friend. I'll have to figure it out later.), I believe I cemented the look I wanted for this character because this became the base for all my future iterations of this character so far, I started on my journey with getting better with anatomy, and eventually, I was inspired to make a story revolving around this character with other characters and stuff I'm planning for later.

I got curious as to how different I could make the same drawing look without changing much and applying my new experiences and organizing skills.

Lucas v5

On the same note of trying to forever improve my skills, this one was slightly different from the others. The previous versions' bases were more... tailored to a certain "look" I was trying to go for. I use Part 1 Gaara as a base for this one. I wanted to make the hair more bushy but I didn't really know how to pull that off while not having it look too uncanny to me. Here I believe is where I started using vector layers, which significantly sped the process up for me. I made different expressions from this one to try out making expressions

Lucas v4 (Kid Version)

Same with v3, I eventually wanted to attempt a redraw in my own underdeveloped style. I tried modeling this one after v2. This one took significantly longer than the other 3, this took 6 months. I was going through an arc of lack of motivation. An artist friend of mine would show me his stuff for a time and eventually, I got inspired to actually finish. I was pretty proud of finishing this one. As it became the new base how I wanted to draw this character again.

Lucas v3 (Kid Version)

At some point, I wanted to try making a kid version of Lucas v2. So I asked my friend to draw a design. I paid him and added color. I wanted to better my skills and efficiency cause up till a point I used simple curved lines and raster layers. I also had a bad habit of putting a lot of the colors on one layer. So, I tried to mix up what I did each time to see if I improved. Here I tried adding gradient to make the character not look flat. This one, I did in a month

Lucas v2

The only art skiils I had was from Middle and High School. Nor did I practice at the time. Eventually, I wanted to try to develop an art style or my own. Or at the very least, redraw the first version of this character as to not have it feel too much of a rip-off. I sucked at anatomy. This one took even longer, 2 months as opposed to 1. This is before I was able to buy myself a drawing tablet, so for a while, most of the art I did was using mouse and keyboard on my laptop on Photoshop or an older version of Clip Studio Paint, I think it was called Manga Studio 5. I went for a really bushy type of hairstyle and I always loved characters with purple eyes. So I keep that here.
