I don’t want to come off as the fun police but it’s very frustrating when people redesign the characters to be unrecognizable.

I’m not talking about people changing their races or weight—I mean kinda that too but it doesn’t bother me too much—but like… just changing their color themes and hairstyles drastically. When I look up Vylad Ro’Maeve I expect my brunet green eyes fluffy haired boy but it’s as if he’s a totally different character.

I know how people will take this but it’s not the skin tone changing that upsets me, I’m fine with that unless it’s Zane who’s whole thing is being as pale as a ghost yk? It’s when people change their hairstyles and give them completely different vibes that bothers me.

I’m not saying this maliciously or with any intent of putting people down, you’re all so skilled and cool, this is just my opinion.

I should start drawing again so I can draw the designs I like most… hmmm.

saw someone mention the whole "Katelyn was abusive" take and it is something that I had been wanting to mention for a long time now so here are my 2 cents on it,

I think Jess' mistake was including too many anime tropes, we see how much anime has influenced her writing in every roleplay she makes. To me, it seems that Jess wanted Katelyn to have a more "tsundere" personality which not many people are fond of anymore.

I don't think Jess ever took the opportunity to do more with Katelyn's character which is a real shame. Sadly all people remember about her character now is the hitting gag.

I think the ship between Vylad and Zenix is weird. I'm a MCD fan so I have it stuck in my head that Zenix is like a son to Garroth,,, which would make Vylad his uncle. I value the father/son dynamic of garroth and zenix over the romantic dynamic (that I personally don't even see) over Vylad and Zenix, and they cannot co-exist.

Also, this is just how I interpret the characters, but Zenix feels like a younger teenager, while Vylad feels like a new adult.

If anything, I could see Vylad and Travis (mcd) since they're both isolated loners with different approaches on how to reintegrate into normal society.

i find it INSANELY annoying when people say “omg zane-chan sucked!!”

like the ship actually had development; Kawaii-Chan confided in Zane, telling him her real name, and about her family. plus, kawaii Chan literally took things slow in their relationship JUST so Zane could be comfortable!!

I don't understand the community opinion that Nicole is abusive in MCD and that she was entirely in the wrong in the Dimitri and Dante situation.

1. One of the moments where Nicole is brought up being abusive is when she knocks Dimitri to the floor, which in some cases would be considered abuse, but in this case, I don't think it was. It is already said that Nicole was training Dimitri and as someone who had a brother who did wrestling and a mother who taught him, rough housing is normal. The amount of times I have seen them square up is A LOT but it was never harmful. I have seen my mother put my brother in a hold because he didn't want to move, my brother laughed. Rough treatment is incredibly normal in that type of relationship.

2. Nicole not telling Dante that she had a son is completely reasonable because Dante never would have left Phoenix Drop, and Nicole had to stay in Scaleswind. Sure, share custody could have worked, but this is high fantasy and wouldn't have been safe until Dimitri was older. Also, Dimitri would have resented Dante because he wasn't with his mom because of his devotion to a (presumed) dead woman. Was it the most moral way of handling it? No, was it the best she could do? Yes.

mcd:r was cool and all, but personally i have to admit the gene storyline was so??? random??? like why were there a few episodes around him when he wasn't as prominent in the original series? it felt kinda forced to me.

just like to say you all use the word "abuser" for katelyn but NEVER use the title of "sex offender" for travis.

they both have done wrong yet you refuse to properly treat him the same. "katelyn abused travis!" and then say "travis did bad things as well!"

well? what exactly did he do? because you people always seem to skip over the fact that man has sexually assaulted katelyn but nooooo let's all treat travis as the sole victim in this!

Aarmau, Zana, and Travlyn could have worked but they just missed the mark, some more than others.

Laurance is never treated like a victim in canon.

Michi's implied sexual harassment never affects the plot in any way shape of form. It doesn't change anything about the way Laurance acts, it doesn't ever get mentioned again.

I will also write out other instances of forms of implied S/A as they make me uncomfortable. (Ghost constantly harassing Zane sexually, Gene wanting to brainwash a girl into loving him for the rest of her life(that would be considered attempted s/a right?), and Zane giving a pendant to Kiki to give her a child without asking her for consent first and all the instances of kissing without consent). Also, all of those things I mentioned affect the plot in more drastic ways then Michi's one line.

It was never done anything with in canon and therefore I prefer to ignore and write out this one line contradicting any interesting quality Michi displayed beforehand.

Women can very much do wrong, we've recently just started to call out instances where women are judged more harshly then men. We haven't tried to say that you cannot dislike a female character at all.

I completely understand if you are uncomfortable with Michi. All I am asking of you is not to think of me as the worst person to ever exist or to ever harass anyone over liking her or writing these things out of their interpretation of her. (I very much fear posting about Michi and receiving any form of hate and harassment over it. ) (harass or tell them they're a bad person for doing that). And to judge female characters and male characters as harshly as the other.

To take a step back sometimes and self reflect to see if you aren't posting way more about male characters then the female ones. And take a step back to realise if you haven't been judging female characters way more harshly then male ones. To see if your fics pass the bechdel test.

The last anon confession confuses me a little because I haven't seen a single person say Katelyn did nothing?

The narrative was that what Travis did to her was as bad as what she did to Travis. Not that Katelyn is this innocent girlboss who does no wrong.

And that acting like Travis is the sole victim in the relationship is bad. And you should judge them equally and fairly, instead of judging the women more harshly.

Katelyn hitting people WAS seen as BAD and WRONG, it started as a joke yes but THERE WAS AN ENTIRE SCENE where TRAVIS calls out her ABUSE. The quote "I want to be treated like a PERSON, not YELLED AT or HIT. THATS NOT OKAY." Means literally NOTHING to some of you.

Katelyn has a REDEMPTION ARC after season two, it's a huge thing that her anger issues are a problem in her friendships. This is even mentioned with her ex girlfriend Luca in FCU.

Abuse is NEVER a joke.

You'll all call out Aaron, Garroth, Laurance, Travis, etcetera but the single SECOND it's a woman abusing someone "she's a queen" or a "girlboss" it's gross. Especially saying Travis DESERVED IT?? ITS LITERALLY CALLED OUT, IN CANON, AS WRONG AND HURTFUL. You're saying a character DESERVED the abuse they went through, it's disgusting.

I hate how this fandom handles male victims. I can bring up Michi and Laurance as well but you'll all gloss over her literally assaulting him.

Travlyn is bad because Travis pushed boundaries YES but he genuinely stops this behavior and grows, Travlyn is ALSO bad because Katelyn ABUSED HIM and doesn't stop this behavior until Travis has this breaking point moment in the second season. They BOTH have redemption arcs.

I hate when people ignore CANON scenes just to defend their favorite characters.
