Shoutout to @tchaikennugget for this absolute KICK ASS comission of Team Calimari!! And another shoutout to @bloodjunk13 for also reigniting the spark for this crossover idea!!! The headcannons I have for how this team would function are - genuinely so fun to imagine!!

•Caligari being the type of team member to do next to nothing during turf wars, he literally stands there, maybe he inks home base if he feels like it

•Jane is - literally the only one putting any actual effort into trying to win any turf war match they compete in, she is the sole functioning braincell of the team and does most, if not all of the work herself

•Alan tries to help her but he’s tragically considered the team’s cannon fodder. He gets mowed Down so quickly by the enemy team he can’t do very much for his own team but he certainly does try!

•Francis is just … frantically painting whatever he can in a fit of borderline frantic panicked hysterics, he has no idea if they’re winning or loosing, he’s just in a blind panic trying to paint

•Cesare - literally shows up to the match with Caligari in his cabinet. He is sent out exclusively to eliminate the enemy team members. That’s it. And somehow, no one sees him coming. He is a WEAPON holding a weapon, even if the other team is wiped out, team Calamari still manages to loose but Cesare is considered the team’s trump card in a pinch.

Spinning this in my head so much - what other films could we add to this list

Here’s a fun little idea that I wanted to share- been watching a few old silent films and figured it could be fun imagining them as splatoon 3 players, I’ve composed 2 teams so far:

so, do you all remember “clockman”

when a few years ago, a bunch of people came together on a forum and discussed an apparently lost animated short, and as the discussion went on, their recollections of the plot got creepier and weirder, until someone finally found the short and it was a lot more tame than people thought they remembered, although there were some key elements that they got right

an adaptation of “the cabinet of dr. caligari” should feel like those clockman forums. despite being one of the most famous films of all time, watching it almost feels like watching a piece of lost media- or rather, the half-remembered, half-imagined recollections of a piece of lost media that just get stranger the more you force yourself to think about it, and you can’t stop thinking about it, because the more you think about it, the more intriguing and alluring it all gets.

yes, you remember the weird sets and the sleepwalker and maybe something about an insane asylum… or were those just things from another film? Or a dream? Or an idea you had once? Or a book you read? No, you definitely remember there was a sleepwalker… right? You find the film and watch it again and feel a strange sense of vindication, because yes, you’re not misremembering things- there is a sleepwalker and an insane asylum- but you don’t remember the circus or the name of the woman or even what the main character looked like; in fact, you were so caught up in trying to remember everything you could, you forgot there even was a main character. and as you finally reach the end, you have the eerie feeling that you know exactly what this movie is all about, and it’s the way you’ve been thinking about it this whole time. It wants you to think about it like that.

I want an adaptation to feel, simply put, like it’s on the periphery of everything.
