When Tokusa decides to blackmail an innocent OC.
Just a bit of fun I had.
As the Crow Flies.
It was late at night and all through the black order HQ everything was quiet.
The whole month had been chaotic and everyone was tired and fed up with the growing tensions beginning to erupt between the various sections. Between all of this, the Exorcists and third exorcists were struggling to co-exist and arguments were a growing problem.
But through all this, at least one relationship was beginning to blossom.
A relationship of blackmail.
Leerie sat with her back to him in the busy cafeteria and even though the seventeen-year-old Exorcist was trying to ignore him, she could feel Tokusaâ s dark eyes on her back.
She grabbed a forkful of lettuce from her spork and chewed with aggravation at the growing presence of his stare.
In all honesty it was her own fault. She had written something that she really shouldnât have and somehow, he had managed to get his grubby half-akuma hands on it.
The book in question was a work of art. Though of the worst kind of depravity, it also had its merits.
Did the brunette feel bad for pie-shipping one of her best friends and Howard Link? Sometimes. But everyone was doing it, whether they spoke of it out loud or in their minds. They all imagined the pair together.
The hoards of ALLINK fangirls existed and somewhere they pitted the two against one another in romantic situations.
The story that Tokusa retained was some of her best work which kind of made the situation even worse because none of it was tame. Maybe if she had written it like a fairy tale, if that would be somehow more acceptable? but her book wasnât like that. It wasnât like that AT ALL.
Valeerie stood abruptly and heard the same come from him when she attempted to leave the cafeteria.
Chair legs scraping against stone.
Honestly, didnât he have anything better to do?
No one in the whole place was aware of her predicament. In fact, Valeerie reasoned that it was probably in her best interests to just admit her hand in writing such a thing to them both and accept the shame and possible ex-communication that would mean that they were no longer friends.
She couldnât fathom that such respectable people like Allen or Link would forgive her for writing such filth about them.
Valeerie pulled her jacket a little tighter as she walked beneath the arch of the cafeteria. She didnât know where she would go yet but it had better be a place where they could talk without anyone seeing them.
Tokusa never wanted to be associated with her, even though he was insanely proud about being an exorcist and it seemed to grate on the nineteen-year olds nerves that innocence had chosen her to be an accommodator when he himself hadnât been deemed good enough.
She, who had lupus and couldnât go on extended missions or travel outside of the country for fear of an attack making her extremely sick. In fact, sometimes Leerie wondered if that was how the other exorcists viewed her as well.
Well if they did, she never heard them.
Leerie passed through the gates and left the building. She was dressed informally in a dusky blue dress and boots as the evening sun tickled her cheek. There were strict orders to be back inside before nightfall but the seventeen-year-old took her time.
She walked over grass and through the walled garden before she came to a copse of trees that she knew led to a shallow beck at the bottom of the small hill.
This is where they went sometimes when the building was too busy but, in this case, she was feeling uncomfortable and just in need of some fresh air.
Behind her, she knew that Tokusa was stalking her movements but he was no doubt holding back so that he wouldnât be seen, however, he was definitely there. His akuma cells already reacting to the closeness of their master.
Valeerie often wondered if their meetings were painful to him and then she found herself hoping that they were. Book or not, she didnât deserve to be treated like this.
Her small form came to the copse and ducked under one of the branches so that she was no longer in view of anyone. In the summer, you could hide from anyone behind the thick branches of leaves.
Her pale hand touched the white trunk of a tree as she carefully stepped down the inclined hill.
At the bottom was an old bridge that looked as if it was about to fall down. For this reason, she never crossed it but it was beautiful to look at all the same.
Her hair was loose and as soon as she reached the bottom, she heard the unmistakable sigh of her enemy.
âYou always pick the worst places to meetâ
He sighed airily, reaching up to a leafy branch and snapping it off. Not caring that he was damaging the tree.
âIf you donât want me dragging you to the beck, maybe stop blackmailing me?â
Valeerie snapped defensively as Tokusa reprimanded her for her bad temper.
She rolled her eyes at that but said nothing.
âNowâ He said.
âI have a small favour to ask of you, Habgoodâ
âValeerieâ
She corrected.
â If youâre going to betray me, you might as well call me by name.â
âBetrayal is a notion shared between friendsâ
Tokusa said matter -of-factly before laughing.
âSo, I wouldnât say that what Iâm doing right now is betrayal.â
âWhat do you want?â The brunette drawled. Already bored with their exchange and wanting to get away.
âHmm? Oh right.â He smiled.
âItâs a simple enough request, really..â
Valeerieâs left eye twitched. Everyone who knew Tokusa knew that he liked to play games with people but his hesitance at telling her what he wanted told her that it probably wasnât as simple as he said it was.
âSimple for you or simple for me?â Valeerie groaned both hands resting on her hips.
âYouâre a lot more capable than I am.â
Tokusa opened his eyes to look at her and Valeerie stifled a scream when she saw that his eyes were blood shot and swollen.
They werenât asshole Tokusaâ s normal brown eyes. These eyes belonged to the side of him that wasnât human. She half wondered if her comment had pleased him because he was also smiling. A gloved hand came to rest on his chin as the leather covering his fingers danced along his bottom lip.
Head resting to one side he asked her to deliver a letter.
âWhy the hell do you have to build the suspense over something like that?â She asked clearly annoyed.
She hated it when he did that.
Stupid Tokusa!
âI want you to deliver it to Inspector Link. The contents are of a highly serious natureâ
âBetter not be my fucking bookâ She mumbled under her breath.
The green haired third exorcist didnât seem to hear her as he smiled to himself.
âAnd if I refuse?â She sighed.
âHa, well, I think youâre smart enough to work that out for yourself, donât you?â
He stepped forwards handing her the letter from his breast pocket and in her other hand, he thrusted the small branch he had torn from the tree, pressing it painfully into her palm.
That was a clear enough message if ever there was one, but Valeerie for the most part was confused.
Not only because Howard was seemingly on good terms with the thirds and would be able to meet with them freely, but also because what could be so important as to warrant a letter? When they could just chat over the dinner table.
She was about to ask him why she had to deliver it but suddenly thought better of asking.
Valeerie still didnât know Tokusa well enough to try and pry the truth from him and even if she did, he would never trust her enough to tell.
âSo, I have to deliver the letter. Is that it?â
âYesâ Tokusa grinned,
âDo you want me to write it down so that you donât forget?â
âNo?â
His mocking sing-song voice seriously grating on her nerves.
She didnât say anything to that but made her displeasure known to him by glaring. She wouldnât win the contest of who had the scariest eyes because Tokusa already had that won with an arm behind his back but it would sure as hell make her feel better and maybe the green haired freak might somehow feel guilty about being the worldâs worst human being.
Though she doubted it.
Doubted that there was much that would keep the third awake at night.
Valeerie looked up at the sky and noted that the light was fading much faster than she had anticipated. When she turned back around, Tokusa was already leaving.
Back towards her and hand in the air seemingly as if he was saying goodbye.
That night, after returning back to the safety of the church, Valeerie set out on the mission given to her by Tokusa.
Even though she was tired and her body hurt from all the walking, the seventeen-year-old was finally able to climb the flight of stairs needed to arrive at Howard and Allenâs floor.
Even through her pain and rising nausea and because this was totally inconvenient, Leerie decided that the mission itself wasnât actually that bad. Howards and Allenâs room were the closest to her own which was a floor lower but still totally reachable.
She carried the note in her breast like Tokusa had and made it to the landing.
It was dark now and the only light was coming from under the door of the pairs room.
Valeerie furrowed her brow as her anxiety began to rise. The closer she got the more nervous she became over the contents of the letter.
Upon hearing her approach, the bedroom door opened and Howard stuck his head around the door.
Allen wasnât yet in the room and Howard had just taken a shower and brushed his teeth. The corner of his mouth crusted with tooth paste that he hadnât quite wiped away. His long blonde hair was down and he wore casual clothing because the day was coming to an end and all the inspector had left to do was paperwork.
