Am I right in assuming both Rhys and Feyre cannot enter Elainâs mind?
ââŚHer body is fine- too thin and in need of more food and fresh air, but nothing amiss. And as for her mind⌠I cannot enter it.â
I blinked. âShe has a shield?â
âShe is Cauldron-Made,â the healer said, again looking over Nesta. âYou are not like the rest of us. I cannot pierce the places it left itâs mark most deeply.â The mind. The soul. She shot me a warning glance. âAnd I would not try if I were you, Lady.â
This scene often sticks in my mind. I think Elainâs mind is incredibly powerful and Rhys and Feyre canât access it or else surely they would have figured out her Seer abilities much earlier.
This surely gives her a great advantage with the likes of spying or secret-keeping. Even Azriel canât close his mind fully to Rhys⌠but if Elain canâŚ

Plot opinion:
Does anyone else get the feeling that thereâs something going on behind the scenes in ACOSF between Elain and Aziel?
âBecause of the shit with Elain?â
Azriel stilled. âWhat happened to Elain?â
- Chapter 19
âShe made ballrooms into battlefields and plotted like any general. Like you two,â she said, nodding to Cassian, and then, a bit more shyly, to Azriel.
- Chapter 44
âI was just checking on desert,â Elain explained as they approached the doorway and Azriel. Nesta met the shadowsingerâs stare and he gave her a nod. Then his gaze shifted to Elain, and though it was utterly neutral, something charged went through it. Between them.
- Chapter 58
Why is Elain suddenly a lot more shyer around Azriel? Why does she feel the need to explain herself to him?
We know from the bonus chapter that they have been âsharing looks and brushing fingersâ, however as I am a reader in the UK, I technically shouldnât be privy to this information. So, Iâm going to pretend those bonus chapters donât exist.
Instead, I think he knows sheâs up to something, maybe something she shouldnât be. Maybe heâs keeping a secret for her. Is she trying to scry? Is she seeing/having visions more than sheâs letting on? I think he knows something and heâs keeping a constant eye on her to make sure she remains safe and well.
A fight with Nesta? Send shadows to check on her. Howling, sobbing laughs? Azriel must check she is safe and well!
If Elainâs book is next - and I hope it is - I think SJM might have flashback chapters, scenes between Elain and Azriel which took place during previous books which she has kept hidden to us.

Azrielâs mouth curled up at the corner. âI hope youâre not giving my brother a hard time.â
She sat down her teacup. âIs that a threat, Shadowsinger?â
Cassian took a long drink from his own tea. Drained it to the dregs.
Azriel said coolly, âI donât need to resort to threats.â The shadows coiled around him, snakes ready to strike.
...
But Nesta cut her off, seething at the pity about to be thrown her way. âMaybe youâll become interesting at last, Elain.â
Nesta saw the blow land, like a physical impact, in Elainâs face, her posture. No one spoke, though shadows gathered in the corners of the room, like snakes preparing to strike.
