We have 12 fic writers who signed up for the event and posted their work and now there are 12 new fics for all you guys to read at our

Mystery Author March AO3 collection!

So please head over there to read our fantastic stories and start guessing who penned them!

Each fic has an individualised poll link attached to it, which you can click to go submit your vote and choose one of the 12 authors you think wrote the fic. For funsies, you can also leave a line or two to tell us why you chose to vote for this writer for the fic, but that one is not obligatory!

Introducing the Mystery Author March

What is it?

Mystery Author March is a month long event, where you get to read a bunch of new fic and guess who wrote them!

How does it work?

Creators will sign up and write a fic for the event. Those who want a prompt, will be given one.

All the fics will be posted to an AO3 collection set up for the event. This collection will remain anonymous, until the authors are unmasked at the end of the month!

The fics will be featured one by one on this blog, including a link to a Google Forms poll, where you can vote to guess who the author of each fic is.

Rules:

The authors participating in the event must have an AO3 account so they can post their work in the collection

Only one work per author may be submitted for this event

The work submitted to this event must be new and written with this event in mind.

All fics submitted to this event should be between 500-1500 words long! Everyone needs to get enough of an idea of your writing style, but it will be better for the event if there is no big disparity between the word counts of each story. If your idea gets away from you, you can submit just an excerpt for this event as a first chapter, and continue the story after the event.

Timeline:

Sign-Ups: 12.-21. January 2024

Fic Submission deadline: 29th February.

Works will be made public to read: 1st of March

4.-24. March: Fics written for the event will be featured on the blog and the polls are active

25.-31.3. March: Authors will be unmasked and mysteries solved!

INUVEMBER IS BACK FOR ITS 9th EDITION!

Inuvember is an event dedicated to showing our love for the manga/anime Inuyasha, with a prompt for each day of the event. You can participate in any way you want, no need to be a writer or an artist! This event is all about having fun.

The first 2 and a half weeks are dedicated to the characters of the series, and the last week and a half is dedicated to relationships and AUs. The last day, 'Fandom Day' is dedicated to the fans, tell us how you fell in love with the series, or what it brought to your life!

Rain

There was an eerie silence that settled in the small hut that the group had settled in for the night.

The monk was unconscious, but the ever diligent slayer was at his side. Inuyasha grumbled but said little as he sat by the monk. He'd been slightly man handled but was for the most part in one piece.

The children and even Jaken were even quiet. The heavy patter of rain and crackling fire were the only sounds that filled this heavy silence.

Sesshomaru had removed his heavy cauldron armor, intent on finally relaxing after the stressful fight. But his nerves were still alive, and her absence made the air feel heavy.

Finally, a soft sigh escaped him, causing Inuyasha to look up. When he saw him approach the old door, he called out, "Just let her be -"

His hot eyes cut to his, "This one has never listened to you." As the door opened, he again murmured, "Why would I start now."

For the most part, the trees provided some coverage from the rain but not nearly enough to keep him dry. Stopping in his tracks, he could hear her soft footsteps. Her saddened eyes met his, "Sesshomaru."

She was absolutely soaked, her clothing even had become transparent. His boots softly trekked across the now muddy path, "You did not return." Her eyes stayed low, but a soft nod was all he was given. "It is raining,"

"I'm sorry," she murmured.

He watched the rain streak down her face, "The rain does not hide you." But again, when he was met by her heavy silence, he felt even further unsettled. His hands rose, gently pulling her forward without much thought. Dipping his grand height, he very gently dragged his tongue across her cheek. Her hands raised to his haori, feeling she might tilt backwards. "Kagome," his voice seemed a bit softer than she'd expected, "you tried."

His soft words had tears again flood forward, her lips twisting, "I- I couldn't save her."

"Couldn't," he murmured, "Doesn't mean you did not try."

She nodded sadly, trying not to outright sob into his clothing.

After a pregnant pause, he finally spoke, "This one is wet now."

Her teary smile put him at ease, "Well, I guess we should get you inside. Oh great, soggy one."

He set his now heavy haori over her shoulders, "says the woman whom is scantily clad." She pulled the haori closer, feeling a blush rise to her face, "Perhaps should this happen again." He pulled her along, back to camp, "Retrieve this one, so you do not become lost."

A soft laugh escaped her, "Yeah, sure. Whatever you say, Lord Fluffy."

Still clutching his sleeve, her lips curl up into a shy smile and Kagome finds herself unable to meet Sesshomaru's eyes, "I must look like a mess..." she looks down at his chest, "And I've even wrinkled your kimono."

Sitting up straight, Kagome wipes her cheeks and nose on the hem of her sleeve. She laughs, "Here you are, comforting me, when I'm the one supposed to be comforting you right now."

Sesshomaru watches Kagome tidy herself. Tears still cling to her long dark lashes. The sunlight reflects on their surface like tiny gems sparkling in her blue eyes. A healthy blush spreads across her freckled face. She combs her tangled her back, exposing her long neck to him. His eyes follow its curve. He notices that when Kagomees blushes, it extends farther than her face, trailing all the down her cheeks to the expanse of ivory skin hidden underneath her white kosode. Sesshomaru is mesmerized by Kagome, finding her remarkably beautiful. His chest warms at the sight. Why hadn't he noticed before?
