Hey there! I got some questions about the Trilla, as I'm obsessed with the pink dolphins toooo! Was the giant pink one stuck in the ground ever found to be able to be freed? Or is it still forever stuck in the ground but if you go through a special ring the right way you can get lightning around her and not just the spotlight? And you posted some pictures of Ecco NEAR a giant pink one. How did that happen? Was it the one stuck in the ground? Where did that picture come from? Also, what do you think their purpose is in the lore? Thanks!

Not sure if this ask is old as hell, Tumbrl just notify me now lol

There's 6 "pink dolphins" in total on Hanging Spheres level; 4 small ones (regular size, like Ecco) and 2 big ones. One is stuck, the other one is swimming in a big pond-like thing. But to me it seems like the bigger one is the one swimming. It's even bigger than Mutaclone or any other dolphin previously seen on Ecco DotF! I'd say is even bigger than some whales, since if you go near it Ecco is almost the size of it's eye lol

The one who's stuck cannot be freed but it has a full body render, and the fact that if you go through both rings some action happens (lighting and swirls start to appear around the dolphin) it seems that the main goal of the level was to free that dolphin.

The one who's swimming is being attacked by some alien-leeches, but it seems that the animation has issues and I could only see that once or twice, the rest of the time they won't even appear.

There was supposed to be an 'Old Trilla' (as named on the game files) in Hanging Caverns level, but don't know if it was supposed to be giant or small (as it only appears on the game's files and not on the level itself), so don't know if their size is due to age or ranking (like the Clan dolphins for example)

Hi my fellow Sentinel fans!

I've been trying to translate the concept arts shown on the newest video of Sentinels of the Universe.

I don't know the Hungarian language, but I tried with online translators.

Hope this can make things a little more clearer for all of you to get a mental image of what SotU could have been....

Something in my mind keeps telling me that the song that plays in this video from 1:29 to 3:20 is the original song for 'Hanging Spheres', because there's a different song playing for the rest of the video in the same level.

Maybe when he edited the songs into the video (even if they're the oficial songs, wich is confirmed, probably the songs weren't implemented in the game yet and he added them on the video?) he saw "Hanging.." and put it it but it was Hanging Spheres instead.

Don't know if y'all get my point XD

Hello!

I have no new things about Sentinels of the Universe sadly...

But I wondered if I shared this here already? It's from a dolphin that appears in Roaring Forces on one of the early Defender of the Future prototypes.

This admiration dolphins had for flying creatures could explain why Atlantis is full of terrariums with flying animals (birds, butterflies, bats..) Also, may be the reason why dolphins built Hanging Waters ;)

Hello everyone!

It's been a while since I don't post anything.. But I found some unused dialogue from Sentinels of the Universe! 💙

They are in the game files (in Hungarian) on the prototype dated February 19, 2001. But they seem to have found more on some corrupted files date February 23, 2001 in english and an additional level!

The english dialogues are these;

Ancient City

You mock or get out, decide it!

Puffy is starving!

Rock n Roll!

The party goes on in the hell with the devil!

If you let me out, I'll comply with my three wishes!

Small wolphin, small wolphin let me out!

If you don't let me out, I'll smash your head up!

-Who wants to be released?? I could only thought of the white shark.. but that's stupid, no?

Galleon & port

Wow, a dolphin! You should have come earlier!

But I'm in good mood now, so I forgive your delay.

I know birds can't talk!

Do I look like one?

Well, for the moment, I do!

You should know, that I'm a great dolphine mage!

For a moment I hadn't taken care, and the soulrobber living in the upper lake stole my magic force, squeezing me into this feathered body.

Enough of talking! I announce a campaign!

Bring me a boat, that will take for a capital ship.

I must get to the sunken ship.

May the octopus have you killed!

Haven't I told you to bring me a boat?

-Now, there's a lot of info here. We don't know who is talking to Ecco, but could be whales since they say to swim near them to keep the body warm (like in Ice World/Home of Narwhals). Also mentions another place; FORBIDDEN BAY, and that some "strange creatures" are now there. Could be aliens? Maybe, since they clearly mention aliens later (so Ecco is still against the Foe?). They also mentions Narwhals for the first time. They seem to be "crying" and also have magical powers! Last lines seem (to me) to be a Narwhal talking, since It also mentions "creating something from Ecco's memory as a gift" (with magical powers? Maybe one of the powers from Defender of the Future??)

-This are dialogues from the whale that we see trapped behind the Ice blocks. He mentions a young orca that jumped over a path or mountain and never returned.

*No dialogue from Hanging Spheres has been found*

Hanging Caverns

IT'S GOOD TO SEE SOMEONE AFTER SO MANY YEARS.

MY STORY IS LONG AND BORING...

YES, THE BATS AND THE GEYSIR HAD TO BE TOUGH BUT FUN.

NOW FOLLOW ME, I SHOW YOU THE EXIT

-I wonder who could be saying this, since we see no dolphin or other creatures aside bats on this level, but could've been added later.

Atlantis

I am the lord of the bats.

I am looking for a whistle.

-There's more from this level, but just the tutorial and swimming race.

...And that's all! Still can't confirm if Ecco can travel to other worlds through the portals in Atlantis or he's still on Earth.. but seems he's still after the aliens afterall!

Texture files (and other animations) from HangingSpheres level (HangLand)

Interesting things:

-MLTrilia are the name of the textures for small albino/pink dolphins (4 indicates the number of them in the level) while NATrilla is the big one.

-NALeechAct is about the leeches that attack the big pink dolphin (this animation rarely appears, but I caught It on video). Seems like there's 12 of them.

-I wonder what's the one for the bird/dragon thing since the texture for it has no name...

-LibegAct? LissaAct??

That's all I can think of.. If I find anything else, I'll let y'all know ;)

Things I learned about Ecco DotF through the beta

So, I've learned quite interesting things about Ecco:Defender of the Future while playing the betas (the ones from January and February)

First of all, and thanks to the help of a fellow member of CoH, the power of Metamorphosis comes from an octopus. It's quite hard to notice the first time, but the shrine-whatever we go through after Roaring Forces to get to Atlantis has the shape of an octopus. It has 8 pillars and they're shaped like tentacles.

This theory comes from Sentinels of the Universe though, we were disscusing about the parrot in Galleon & Port, because he says he's a dolphin that an octopus turned into a bird.

And here comes the next thing;

In the beta from January there's more dolphins in the levels. There's one at the entrance of the Temple of Metamorphosis that says interesting things. He mentions that "Before (dolphins) admired flying creatures they admired the 8-armed ones". That could explain why there are glyphs with flying animals (Bird, Bat and Butterflies) in the glyphs in Atlantis Lost, as there is no real explanation to that in the final version of the game. Maybe dolphins want to fly?? That could be a nod to Ecco II Tides of Time.

And MAYBE that's the reason dolphins built the Hanging Water's generator, to somehow be able to swim in the "air".

There's definitely more mentions to the octopus in the beta versions, which means that it was going to be more important in the plot than it actually was. Or the game simply was going to have more explanations about the powers Ecco obtains.

Also, some unused whale dialogue in Aquamarine Bay says "Where you here when the Guardian sent the explorers their way? It was magnificent!"

So.. the bubbles we see at the prologue cutscene are.. spaceships??

Either way, I thought it was an interesting discovery to share with Ecco-fans ;)
