Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix ✔️ Reading 4th and 5th books of this series made me realise why people prefer books more than the movies... 🙂 I know that film makers use their creative license to make movies for 2-3 hours duration so nothing against the movies. This is truly charming. I haven't finished a book with such speed and ease before (obviously I've seen the movies already which helped a bit). Also, I never thought that being a Harry Potter movie series fan I'll read the books. But as I mentioned the book is truly magical. Authors like #JKRowling show us how beautiful and imaginative human mind is. Creating this magical world in a detailed manner is not a small feat. I am no one to review this book but just for once forget about your day to day worries and immerse yourself in any imaginative world. It's definitely a page turner if you are money minded. As we all know that Berkshire Hathaway's annual meetings are famously known as "an MBA in a weekend." And reading this book one can find out why. They answer the questions in their own quirky way and in process leave behind a lot of learnings for us to ponder upon. They take shot at everything from Asset Allocation to how shitty various modern day portfolio theories and models are. And as per them economists within a company is an extra person on payroll on whom money is wasted. Also, they curse Derivatives in every meeting. 😂 In majority of the meetings Buffet highlights that "if he were to teach in a Business School, he would make it shockingly simple and teach: 1) How to Value a Business, and 2) How to Think about Market Fluctuations - that the market is there to serve you, not influence you." With their risk averse nature both Buffet and Munger has invested and built an empire of businesses which is difficult to copy and one shouldn't copy as well. They've got access to deals which we are not capable of. But still they push us to read, find businesses and become a shareholder cum owner of the business and stick with it. So in words of Buffet, "Spend less than what you make. Know and stay within your circle of competence (in terms of investing). The only business that matter are the ones you put your money in. Keep learning over time. Don't lose. Insist on a margin of safety. But I was looking for some light hearted read so that I could give my overthinking brain some rest. 😁 And as I was looking through the Kindle Library, a familiar name came across - Ruskin Bond. I don't think there's anybody who hasn't heard about this wonderful Doon writer. We all have read and enjoyed some of his great stories as part of our school curriculum (for those who do not have a reading habit - I am an integral part of this category). Also, the title of this book has got the word 'Laughter' in it. So, nothing to lose there and a book edited by him will definitely cheer my brain. And as I read through this anthology of hilarious stories, articles, and verses, I just kept moving from one page to another. Some stories are definitely funny, I really had a laugh, and some are not but that doesn't take away its magic of being a page turner.
