Ragnar and Rollo want to reconcile, Gisla is worried of Ragnar’s reliability and *high-key* wants to fight him.
Gisla: I don’t like him
Rollo: I don’t like him either, but it would be better for us to reconcile with him and set a peace.
Gisla: But what if this is a way to distract you so he can attack you better?
Rollo: my love, Ragnar is not… that mean.
Gisla: really? Last time I checked, he pretended to be dead fooling you and his friends just to enter in the walls of Paris, take me hostage and leave a scar on my neck.
Rollo: well… yes he is that mean, but… don’t you want an uncle for our babies?
Gisla: I mean… they have Roland.
Ragnar: yes, and Roland is a great uncle but at the same time they need someone less… weird…
Gisla: your bother is literally obsessed over a Northumbrian priest, has a weird tendency of impregnating every woman he sets eyes upon and is called Ragnar shaggy pants.
Rollo:… well, at least he has never tried to touch you in that way.
Gisla: he kissed me.
Rollo: where the fuck is my axe when I need it, that fucker will die tonight I swear.

AU MOODBOARD ⇸ Gisla, princess of Livstraedir. Daughter of King Algir and Queen Frøya, Gisla is a Völva and thanks to her father’s fame she will cross paths with Ragnar Lothbrok, and his brother Rollo.
Weirdly enough, Ragnar isn’t the most interesting of the two.

I know it’s fanon (canon in fanfics) that Rollo and Gilsa take baths together. Because of this I wanted to draw this scene for the longest time.

—  “Each night I openly scorned and mocked you. I called you a dog, a savage, and so much worse. How could you not hate me after all this?” — “I do not know, perhaps it was destiny.”

For Today’s Rambling - How physical Gisla is.
Another facet of Gisla in 4A and 4B is how physical she is with Rollo. Much like how when Gisla is not close to someone she forces a physical space between them. When she is close to someone she owns the space.
Rollo/Clive is a big guy - he’s 6′2 and on Vikings he’s pretty bulked up. Morgane Polanski is actually one of the taller women on the show at 5′8 (I think the only woman taller is Alyssa Sutherland and Amy Bailey is the same height). Still, next to Rollo Gisla tends to look small. Yet, even with a berserker husband she manages to push him around.

Rollo reacts when Gisla hits him - she has force behind her movements. She’s able to make that brick wall of a man stumble which is pretty significant. Roland had to resort to carrying her over his shoulder to get her to her wedding night - which means Gisla was putting up a fight and dragging wasn’t going to happen. Then we have the stupid scene in 4B when Rollo’s returned from his mid-life crisis. Now, Gisla isn’t the first woman to hit her husband on the show. Lagertha and Ragnar got into it in season 1, Aslaug slapped the shit out of Ragnar later on, and of course Lagertha’s killed 2 of her husbands.
However Gisla full on lays into Rollo enough to make him step back

The man is wearing armor!
I just love her physicality, and the strength Morgane brought to Gisla. She is a princess (though never looks fragile), and prefers to keep her distance with most people. And as I rambled in the last post; space and who is allowed in Gisla’s personal space is really important and Morgane portrayed that beautifully with Gisla’s posture and change in demeanor around people as Gisla’s interest in the personal in particular changed.
But I also love that Gisla, who has no formal training in love making or fighting, is seen to be a bit wild with both. She’s never ran into a lover’s arms so she just plows right into him. It’s pretty different from the soft motions and the deliberate stretching we see from her in the next episode when they’re in bed together; those movements are planned and she’s thought them out. The movements in the pantry are impulsive and sloppy.
Just the same, she’s never beat someone before so she gets her frustrations how by slapping his chest (which again he’s wearing armor; that wasn’t going to do anything to him but does appear to be the feminine way to go about things) and when that doesn’t satisfy her she punches him square in the nose (much more masculine). And you can see she’s gritting the entire time. She’s mad she can’t hurt him until she does. She has no idea what she’s doing but following her basic instinct and gut reaction which is the total opposite of how she was probably raised and how she typically approaches things.
